" So how was school today?" His current guardian asked.
" Some of my classmate decided to sucide bomb my teacher." Yuma replied.
Atem nearly dropped the broom he was holding. " WHAT?!"
" It's fine, Korosensei stepped in before anything could happen. Apparently his mottled skin is super tough." Yuma quickly clarified. He left out the part that Korosensei threatened to kill their family and meant it.
"Please don't scare me like that." Atem let out a sigh of relief. "That aside, did anything else happen at school?"
Yuma's red eyes brighten. " Oh yeah, Korosensei handed my quiz back today and guess what? I got 75%. Korosensei said if I keep this up I might get up to 80 next time!"
As the younger boy rambled on about school, Atem couldn't help but smile. Truthfully, he wasn't sure how or why he and the others ended up in this world. One moment he was in the afterlife then the next thing he knew he was human once again and standing right by Yugi's side.
Jaden, Yubel, and Yusei were familiar faces in this new world. Yuma, however, was as much a stranger to them as they were to him ( Not so much, because Yuma knew about the legend of their ace monsters). Finding out they were stuck in another world was hard on all of them. They tried but not even the Crimson Dragon's power nor Jaden's Gentle Darkness could fix things this time.
"Come on guys, we can't give up! Sure none of your magic powers work, but we got here somehow there's got to be a way out!"
Safe to say, they adapted quickly. Yugi And Yusei went on to start Millennium Corp, Jaden resumed to travel the world, Atem contented himself with housework and a small game shop. Yuma, the youngest of them, was forced to go back to school.
Enrolling him into Kunugigaoka was a mistake on Atem's part. It was the closest school to their house and was arguably the best school in the country, it should have been the best choice. Unfortunately, Atem failed to take into account Kunugigaoka's strict study regimen might not work for Yuma and by the time that was apparent, there was nothing he could do. Lately, though, Atem noted that Yuma had been doing better with his new teacher.
Despite the nondisclosure the government had, Yuma kept it no secret that his teacher this year also blew up most of the moon and plans to blow up earth next. After the….initial attack plan, Yuma convinced everyone to let his class handle it as the government had planned.
" Do you need me to watch the shop so you can go deliver Yugi and Yusei their dinner?" Yuma asked once he finished his ramble.
" Yugi promised they'll be home today, so there's no need. You go do your homework." Atem dismissed the boy, pushing him upstairs with the broom handle. " And take a bath while you're at it."
"I'm going, I'm going."
Yuma stared at the tulip within his hand once more before lamenting. " I was hoping to be able to enjoy them for a bit longer." Having been introduced to the joy of gardening by Kataoka, Yuma had dedicated a lot of energy to care for the flowerbed outside of class. It reminded him of his grandmother's garden and helped with homesickness. To see his efforts go down the drain was a bummer.
Isogai gave him a few pats of comfort on the shoulder before shoving a makeshift spear with an anti-sensei knife tied on top at him. " At least, Korosensei decided to own up and let us take a few hits at him."
"Yeah." Gently place the flower into a nearby vase, Yuma followed Isogai out of the classroom to murder their teacher.
One could look at a creature with Mach 20 speed, tied up like a piñata or not, and say that it would be impossible for it to be hurt. But to Yuma that sounded like a challenge, and Yuma Tsukumo refused to back down from a challenge. Swinging the bamboo stick wildly, Yuma aimed Korosensei's to no avail. After a few seconds of cutting thin air, Yuma whispered "Kattobingu" and redoubled his effort.
And then.
Whether by pure luck or something else, one of Yuma's strikes landed. As their teacher shrieked at the loss of one of his tentacles the class paused to stare at the falling limb.
"Holy shit, did Yuma just?"
"So it is doable."
" Well, what are we waiting for, people? Let's get cut off some more!"
"Yeah!"
With that, the class resumed killing their teacher with much more vigor. Unfortunately, Korosensei managed to escape his bidding before any of them could serve another tentacle and escape to the top of the school roof.
"You'll never make all the way-" Korosensei's words of triumph were cut short when Yuma threw his makeshift spear at him. Not wasting any time the boy took running at the building, grabbing another spear from a classmate along the way, and jumped. He landed right underneath the edge of the roof, grabbing hold of the tiles Yuma easily pulled himself up to the top. Yuma took a swing at the octopus but he was long gone before the blade went down.
Calming down Yuma pouted, he jumped down from the roof with ease throwing in some somersaults before landing down in front of his class. Dusting off his uniform, he turned to be met with the stunted looks of his classmates.
"Is there something wrong?" He asked hesitantly.
"We know you were athletic." Sugaya began.
" But we didn't know you could do that!" Okano finished, excitement lacing her voice. " Do you do gymnastics?"
" Not really, I'm mostly self taught. " Yuma clarified.
" Who cares?" Maehara interrupts. " The shrimp just cut off one of Korosensei's tentacles. That's a first."
Takebayashi nodded. " Which means we're getting closer to killing Korosensei."
"Keep this up and he's dead before March!"
"Yeah!"
Yuma ignored the shrimp comment. Taking in his classmates' cheer and happy chatter, he couldn't help but think about Kotori and Tetsuo and Shark and the rest of his friends back in Heartland. His heart yearned to be reunited with them once again but for now, he'll settle for the celebration of the maiming of his teacher.
