Chapter 3-The Prison
Shane's P.O.V
Shane drives down the road. Daryl was in front of him. "We should get another car," Morgan says to him. Shane glances at him through the mirror. "We'll find more people, and we need more room?" Shane nods, agreeing with the man.
"We'll find some more. Maybe a truck or a bus," T-dog says. Morgan nods. They drive for another hour, and Morgan tells Shane to stop by a truck. The car was a black Ram Ford. Morgan climbs out of the car as Daryl shoots a walker with his crossbow.
"T-dog. Let's get some gas from these cars while those two deal with that truck," Daryl says to T-dog, who nods as he follows him.
"Come on," Morgan says as he gets out of the car. Duane follows him and gets out. Shane and Duane walk to the truck as Morgan opens the door. He climbs inside and starts to look for the keys as another walker comes out of the woods.
"Can I get it?" Duane asks Shane, who nods as he pulls his knife out.
"Yeah, but I'm staying near you," Shane says. Duane nods as the walker comes closer. "Go for its knee. Get it down to your height," Duane nods as he kicks the walker in its knee. It falls down, and Duane stabs it in the head with his knife.
"I found the keys. I'm going to check the engine while we wait for Daryl and T-dog," Morgan says. Shane nods as he goes back to the car with Duane. They sit against the car as they wait for the three men to be ready. It takes about another hour before Daryl and T-dog come back. "Duane can ride with you. Just in case," Shane nods as T-dog and Daune get into the car. Morgan climbs in the truck, and they are back on the road.
The three vehicles stop outside the prison and see the field was overrun. "Now what?" T-dog asks as walkers press themselves up against the fence.
"We hide the cars and circle around the prison. There might be a part down," Shane says. The others nod as they hide the cars in the woods and grab out their bags and weapons. Daryl and Shane walk in the front. Morgan and T-dog walk in the back, and Duane walks in the middle. Daryl held his crossbow in his hand and aimed it at a walker as they come across it. Daryl shoots it and grabs his crossbow bolt as he walks by. He stops and reloads. They walk for about two hours when they finally reach a field and see a part of the fence down.
"Finally," T-dog says as they pull flashlights out of their bags and start to walk inside.
"Keep your eyes sharp. We don't know what we'll find in there," Shane says as they into the prison. The hallways were dark, and they couldn't hear anything.
"What are we looking for?" Morgan asks.
"Food mainly," Shane says. The others nod as they walk through the hall of the prison. They turn down a hall and see a herd of walkers.
"Back," Daryl says as they move backward. They run down a hall and cut a corner right into a door. "Open it!" Daryl shouts. Morgan and T-dog open the door, and they go in. Morgan puts his machete in between the handles. The walkers start to hit the door. "Stay quiet," Daryl says. He turns his head and sees five men. "Shane," Daryl says as he stands up and aims his crossbow at him. Shane and T-dog aim their guns at them.
"Woah," A man with a mustache says.
"Come out slowly," Shane says to them. They slowly move out of the area with their hands up. "Do you have any weapons?"
"One gun," One of the men said.
"Put it down, and we'll have no trouble," T-dog says.
"No way in hell," A man says.
"Tomas, just do it," Another says. Tomas glares at him and grabs his gun, and throws it to the ground.
"Names?" Morgan asks.
"I'm Oscar," Oscar was a tall black man with a bald head.
"I'm Axel," Axel was a shorter man with blond hair and a blond mustache.
"Big Tiny," Tiny says. Big Tiny was a tall man with black hair and a beard.
"Andrew," Andrew says to them. Andrew was a short man with black hair.
"Tomas," Tomas says. Tomas was an average-height man with long black hair.
"We don't want any trouble," Oscar says.
"Neither do we. I just came here for supplies. The prison is overrun with walkers," Morgan says.
"Overrun?" Oscar asks. "What are walkers?"
"How long have you guys been locked up?" Daryl asks.
"A few weeks," Tomas says. Daryl and Shane share a glance.
"Things have changed," Morgan says. "You have some catching up to do, and as it seems like, we have time until these walkers leave,"
"I'm assuming you have food," T-dog says.
"Yeah, but not for you," Andrew says. "Right, Tomas?"
"You help us. We will help you. I'm sick of being trapped in this damn room," Tomas says.
"Deal," Shane says. "Let's sit down. We got some explaining to do," The prisoners nod as they sit down. The others sit down across from them.
"You got anything my son can eat?" Morgan asks.
"Yeah," Axel says. He comes back with a can of beans and gives it to Duane.
"Thank you," Duane says. Axel smiles at him as he sits down.
"So, what's going on?" Tomas asks.
"The world has ended," Shane tells him. "The dead now walk the Earth," Shane says. "Walkers are what we call 'em. They are the things pounding at the door. They get into this room. They'll try to eat us. They bite you. You die, and you turn into one,"
"You can't be serious," Tiny says.
"We are," Daryl says. "Why else would this kid be here?"
"Okay, let's say all this is true. How do we get out?" Oscar asks.
"We run. Do you have any way of carrying food in there?" Shane asks.
"Three carts," Tomas says.
"We load up as much as possible, and we run. We get to our cars, and we leave. All of us," Daryl says. The prisoners glance at each other and nod.
"That means you're gonna have to listen to us," Shane says to them. He eyes Tomas and Andrew. "You think you can do that?"
"Whatever you say, boss," Tomas says.
"Good, let's load up supplies. We can stay here tonight," Daryl says. The others nod as they slowly head to the back.
Woodbury
Merle's P.O.V
Merle Dixon walks down the roads of the town they were building. The town was called Woodbury and almost had a wall completely around it. There were about 30 people there. Merle walks into a building and knocks on the door. Philip Blake opens the door. "What is it, Governor?" Merle asks.
"Scouts came back. They saw some people park by the old prison," The Governor says. "I want you and Martinez to bring them back. We could use the people," The Governor says. The Governor's daughter Penny runs into the room. "Sweetie. Daddy is talking. Wait a minute," Penny nods as she looks at him.
"We'll bring them back," Merle says. The Governor nods as Merle leaves.
Night. Prison
Daryl's P.O.V
Daryl sat against the wall with a can of beans and ate it. He looks at Tomas as he sits down close to him. "You have been eying me. Why?" Tomas asks.
"Because I don't trust you. And the way you're looking at Shane. I don't think you can follow anybody," Daryl says.
"Perspective," Tomas says. "What if I try something?"
"I'll kill you," Daryl tells him. "In this shit. You can't fight with each other. Best you learn that now rather than later,"
"I guess we'll see what happens," Tomas says.
"I guess we will," Daryl says.
Next Day. Prison
The group stands behind the door, waiting. T-dog, Morgan, and Oscar were pushing the food. Tomas, Daryl, and Shane were taking the front. Axel, Tiny, and Andrew in the back. Duane in front of them. Daryl pulls the machete out and holds it out to Tomas, who grabs it. "One...two...three," Shane pulls the door open and goes out. Daryl kills a walker, and Shane kills another. Tomas slams his machete down on another. "Good job. Remember the head," They go through the halls as fast as they can. Daryl looks at the others and sees that they were okay. Andrew was in the back as they passed a hall. They pass another, and a walker grabs his leg. He fell to the ground as walkers started to come down the hall. The walker bites into his leg.
"Ah!" Andrew yells in pain. Tiny tries to move towards him, but Axel grabs him.
"We can't save him. We gotta go," Shane says as they start to run. Big Tiny and Axel follow.
"No! Please!" Andrew yells as another walker grabs his arm and bites into it. He screams in pain as they start to bite into his body. Andrew yells as a walker bites into his neck, and a walker tears his stomach apart. He stops screaming as he dies.
Daryl stabs a walker as they get outside the prison. Daryl, Tomas, and Tiny help pick up the carts and move them out onto the flat ground. "Let's go," Daryl says as they start to go through the woods.
"Andrew," Oscar says as he looks at the prison.
"He's dead. We'll join him soon if we don't get moving," Tomas says. "We know what these things are, now let's go," Oscar looks at him and nods as they start to push the cart through the woods. They go through the woods in silence. They reach the cars and stop. They hear a gun click behind them.
"Well, boys," Merle says. Daryl freezes as he turns around.
"Merle," Daryl says as he stares at his brother. T-dog turns around and looks at him.
"Well, baby brother. Look at you. Traveling with the cop, the man who left me on the roof, and a bunch of prisoners," Merle says. Merle pulls towards T-dog. Daryl pulls his crossbow off his back.
"Back off, Merle," Daryl says.
"You are protecting him?" Merle asks.
"We went back for you: me, Glenn, Rick, and T-dog. You weren't there," Daryl says.
"Merle, this isn't the mission. Deal with your problems later," Martinez says.
"Yeah," Merle says. "We have a place, baby brother. All of your friends here are welcomed,"
"This place safe?" Tiny asks.
"Yeah," Merle says. Daryl looks at Shane.
"We'll stay for a little bit and see how we like the place," Shane says.
"Then go up to the main road and follow us," Merle says before leaving with Martinez.
Woodbury
The cars stop in front of the gate, and everybody gets out. The Governor walks down and looks at them with a smile. "Hi, I'm Philip. Or the Governor, as people call me. Welcome to Woodbury," The Governor says as they all stare at him.
Thanks for reading. This story is going places, and I like it. I have stories for Oscar and Tomas. I don't know what will happen to Axel and Tiny yet, but who knows. Would you guys like to see Rosita come in earlier by herself or with like a person or with Abraham and Eugene like she is meant to? And as for the Governor, I have two stories I am leaning on with him. And in both, he will most likely be a big character in this story. As always, suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed. Until next time.
