Chapter 6-Preparing
T-dog's P.O.V
T-dog walks up to the door of Merle's apartment and knocks on the door. Merle opens the door a few moments later with a beer in his hand. He looks at T-dog. "I've decided I'm not going to kill you because Daryl would be pissed. So don't tempt me by showing up at my door," Merle says.
"At first, I didn't know why I wanted to come with them. But I did. I figured Daryl's reason was to find you. I think mine was too. Everything that has happened to you from the roof to here is my fault. Losing your hand, you having to get out of Atlanta. Anything you've had to do since. It's all my fault. I wouldn't blame you if you killed me or hit me or even shot me," T-dog says to Merle, who sets his beer down. Merle punches T-dog in the face, making the man stagger back. "I deserved that,"
"You deserve a lot more," Merle says. "Want a beer?"
"That's it?" T-dog asks.
"No, but I'm going to take my hits when I'm mad. You also, in a way, am the reason I'm alive. Chaining those doors saved my life. And Daryl seems to like you, so that means you did something right. Now get in here. Grab a beer and tell me what has happened," Merle says. T-dog nods as he walks in. Merle shuts the door and follows him.
Daryl's P.O.V
Daryl walks through down the street of Woodbury and walks to the east wall, which was finished. It has been a week since they arrived in Woodbury. Daryl gets up on the wall and looks at Tomas. Tomas looks at the man. "You're on watch with me?" Tomas asks.
"I have no other reason for being here," Daryl says as he sits down in the chair. He looks out on the street and then at Tomas. "Haven't seen much of you the last week. You fitting in okay?"
"Yeah, the west wall is almost finished. Big Tiny and Axel have played a big part in finishing it. Oscar has been helping with the heat and electricity," Tomas says. Daryl nods as the Governor comes up there.
"Daryl," The Governor says. Daryl looks at him.
"Get a group together. I want to start scouting for people and supplies. You and Merle will be in charge of it," He says.
"How many people?" Daryl asks.
"You'll be taking a truck and Shane's car," The Governor says. "No more than ten people." Daryl nods as the Governor walks away. Daryl looks at Tomas.
"You want to come?" Daryl asks.
"I was hoping you would ask," Tomas says. "I'm sick of sitting in these walls," Tomas says. "Who else are you thinking?"
"They need people here to finish the south wall. Martinez, T-dog, Shane, Alice-"
"Alice?" Tomas says.
"We might run into people that need help. Alice seems like she can handle herself," Daryl says. Tomas nods. "I would say Morgan, but I think he wants to stay with Duane,"
"Oscar?" Tomas asks.
"If they can spare him," Daryl says. "We'll bring Oscar if we can," Daryl tells him. Tomas nods. "Grab Alice for me," Daryl stands up and goes back on the street. He goes down the road and catches up with the Governor. "You still need Oscar?" The Governor looks at him.
"Take him. Do you have your group?" He asks.
"Oscar, Tomas, Shane, T-dog, Martinez, and Alice," Daryl says.
"Good idea bringing Alice. I'll make you a list of some personal things. You mind grabbing them?" The Governor asks Daryl.
"Nah, get it for me," Daryl says. The Governor nods as he goes into his apartment. Daryl turns around and walks to Martinez's apartment, and knocks on the door. Martinez opens the door and looks at him.
"What is it?" Martinez asks.
"Grab Haley and get ready for a run. It will be a few days," Daryl says. Martinez nods as he walks out and leaves to find Haley. Daryl walks to Merle's apartment next and knocks. T-dog opens the door. "You okay?"
"Yeah, why?" T-dog asks.
"Because you're in Merle's apartment," Daryl says, making T-dog chuckle.
"We were having a beer. What do you need?" T-dog asks.
"Get ready for a run. Merle knows about it. I have to get Oscar and Shane," Daryl says. T-dog nods as Daryl leaves.
Tomas's P.O.V
Tomas walks into the doctor's office and looks at Dr. Stevens. 'Hey, Doc. I'm looking for Alice," Tomas says.
"In the back doing inventory," Dr. Stevens says. Tomas nods as he walks to the back and looks at Alice.
"Grab a bag and supplies from here and whatever else you need for a run," Tomas says. Alice jumped when the man started talking. She looks at him.
"A run?" Alice asks.
"Yeah. We have a run and need a doctor with us just in case," Tomas says. "Stevens is more experienced, and she's older. You will do fine," Alice nods as Tomas leaves.
Morgan's P.O.V
Morgan sat in the garden with the Governor. Duane was in his apartment with Penny, and Morgan was having a drink with the Governor. The Governor pours two glasses of whiskey, sits down by Morgan, and hands the man a glass. "To our kids. May they live long, healthy lives even in this new world," The Governor says. Morgan nods with a smile and taps his glass against the Governors.
"Did you lose your wife before or after?" Morgan asks The Governor.
"Before. Eighteen months before all of this in a car crash," The Governor says. "Yours?"
"After. She was bit, and she turned. Daryl, Shane, and T-dog helped me put her down, and they dug the grave," Morgan tells him. The Governor pulls out a piece of paper and holds it out to Morgan, who grabs it. "What is this?"
"It's a supply list I'm giving Daryl. It's mainly stuff for Penny. Put anything Duane needs on there," The Governor tells Morgan, who smiles as The Governor hands him a pen.
"Thank you," Morgan says. The Governor nods as he takes a drink.
Merle's P.O.V
Merle walks up to Daryl, who was putting his supplies on the bike and filling it up. "You know this is mine," Merle says.
"It was yours," Daryl says. "I've been riding it since the CDC," Daryl says.
"How did they die? Sophia, Amy, Jim, Jacqui?" Merle asks.
"Jim got bit. We left him by a tree. It's what he wanted. Amy got bit in the same attack. She got bit in the arm and shoulder. She died from blood loss. Andrea put her down when she turned. Jacqui stayed at the CDC when it blew up. We ran into a herd on the highway. Sophia ran into the woods, and she got bit. She died and turned. A man named Otis put her in his barn. I searched every day for that girl. I took a bullet and an arrow in the side to find her, and she was in that barn the entire time. Rick shot her when she came out," Daryl says.
"Maybe we should stop by that farm. Like the Governor said. We need more people," Merle says.
"You just want a chance to kill Rick," Daryl says.
"I won't touch your friend. You said his wife was pregnant. We have doctors and equipment to take care of her," Merle says. Daryl stares at his brother and nods.
"We can swing by there on the way back," Daryl tells Merle, who nods as the others start to come over to them. Daryl looks at Shane. "Martinez can drive the truck. Shane, drive your car," They nod as they start to head towards the vehicles. Daryl climbs on his bike as the Governor and Morgan come outside. The Governor walks over to Daryl and holds the piece of paper out to Daryl, who grabs it.
"Stay safe," Morgan says.
"We will," Daryl says. He nods to Axel and Tiny before they leave Woodbury.
This chapter was more filler and setting up story points, but those are needed every once and a while. I don't have much to say, so as always, suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed. Until next time.
