Thanks for reading. Daryl has been shot. Now the group heads for the farm. As always, suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed until next time. Until next time.

Chapter 9-The Farm

So a quick note. While I was writing this chapter, I remembered that Merle only has one hand and couldn't ride a bike without in some way modifying it. That is why this chapter starts with him in the ambulance. I have changed that in the last chapter too. I also changed Haley joining this run because I forgot about that too. Sorry.

Merle's P.O.V

Merle rides in the back of the ambulance and looks away from Daryl when the ambulance stops. Merle climbs out of the ambulance and walks to the front of Shane, gets out of the truck, and looks in front of him. "Oh, god," Shane says as he stares at Carol's dead body.

"Carol," T-dog says. T-dog looks at the body, which was still together with her stomach torn apart and bites all over her body. "This means the farm fell,"

"Do we still go?" Tomas asks.

"Yeah, they couldn't have taken everything if they made it out. Help me move her," Shane says to Tomas and T-dog. Shane opens the back of the truck. "We'll set her in the bed beside the bike,"

"I don't want to touch her," Tomas says.

"I'll help. She was a nice lady," Merle says as he walks to Shane and T-dog. The three of them lift the body and take it to the bed of the truck. Shane grabs a blanket from one of the bags and lays it on her.

"Daryl is going to be mad," Shane says. "They were close," Merle nods. "Let's go," They get back in the cars and continue to drive.

The Farm

Merle's P.O.V

Merle gets out of the ambulance and sees a few walkers. They walk towards them as the others get out. "Martinez and Oscar take Daryl inside and put him in the bed. We'll deal with the walkers," Merle says. Oscar and Martinez nod as Merle walks up to the first one and stabs it in the head. T-dog walks up to Patricia's walker and stabs it in the head. Tomas stabs a walker in the head as they kill the last few.

"Help us move her," Shane says as he looks at Patricia. Merle and T-dog help him put her in the back of the truck. "I'll make a grave for them," Merle looks at the house.

"I'll help," T-dog says. "Go inside with everybody," Merle nods as the two of them drive off. Merle walks inside and sits on the couch. He lays his head back and falls to sleep.

Shane's P.O.V

Shane digs Carol's grave beside Sophia as T-dog digs the other one beside him. "Do you think they are dead?" T-dog asks.

"The cars are gone, and Carol has a bullet in her head. And we haven't found any more of them. So I think at least some of them are," Shane says to him. "I also noticed that there were no more graves,"

"Why would there be more?" T-dog asks.

"Because of that kid. Randall, so he is either with them, or they let him go," Shane says. T-dog nods as they see a walker coming towards them. T-dog climbs out with the shovel and hits the walker in the head, sending it to the ground. He brings the tip of it down and cuts its head off. He stomps on its head and walks back. He continues to dig.

The Governor's P.O.V

The Governor and Morgan walk through the streets after Axel told him someone was at the gate. They had left Daune and Penny inside his apartment. The Governor stops at the gate and looks at Shumpert. "How many?"

"2," Tiny says.

"Open the gate," The Governor says. Shumpert opens the gate, and they look at the two men. "What are your names?"

"Milton Mamet," Milton says.

"You?" Morgan asks as he looks at the other man.

"Morales," Morales says.

"Where are you coming from?" Morgan asks.

"Let's talk about this inside," The Governor says. "Follow me if you wouldn't mind," The two of them follow the Governor and Morgan.

Daryl's P.O.V

Daryl slowly opens his eyes and looks around. He looks at the same room that Carl was in when he was shot. "You're awake," Alice says as she looks at him.

"Are we at Hershel's?" Daryl asks as Merle comes into the room.

"Yeah, the place got overrun," Merle says. "From what we can tell, only two people didn't make it,"

"Who?" Daryl asks as Merle sits down.

"A blond. Older than us," Merle says.

"Patricia," Daryl says. "And the other?"

"Daryl, you might want to wait," Merle says.

"Who?" Daryl asks again.

"Carol. She was dead on the road," Merle tells Daryl, who closes his eyes.

"Help me up," Daryl says.

"Daryl, no, you need to rest," Alice says.

"Shut up!" Daryl says to her in anger. "Help me up!" Daryl shouts at his brother as they hear the door open. Shane and T-dog walk inside and look at him. "Take me outside!"

"Daryl," Shane says.

"I told her she'd be okay," Daryl says as a tear goes down his eye.

"I'm sorry," Shane says. "You've been asleep for hours. We just finished burying her and Patricia. You need to rest, or you might end up dead too," Daryl nods as he lays his head back and closes his eyes.

Morales's P.O.V

Morales and Milton sat in the Governor's apartment with Morgan. The Governor sets down two sandwiches in front of them. "Eat up," He says as he sits down. The two of them start to eat. "Let's start with you, Morales. Where were you at the start?"

"A quarry outside Atlanta with my family," Morales says. The Governor and Morgan share a look.

"Do you know Daryl Dixon, Merle Dixon, Shane Walsh, and T-dog?" Morgan asks.

"Yeah. Are they here?" Morales asks.

"Yes, they are on a run," Morgan says. Morales nods.

"Okay, so you left then?" The Governor asks Morales. "Where is your family?"

"Dead. We were heading to Birmingham, and we got stopped by a herd. They didn't make it out. I found Milton in a building, and we decided to travel together," Morales says.

"I'm sorry about your family. We both know what it's like to lose people we love," Morgan says to Morales, who nods.

"We'll. I'm assuming you two men could use some rest. Head outside and find Shumpert. He'll take you to rooms," The Governor says. The two men nod as they leave.

Shane's P.O.V

Shane looked around the basement of Hershel's house and smiled as Oscar, Martinez, and Tomas walked down the stairs. "Damn, you guys had a lot," Martinez says.

"We didn't have this much when we left," Shane says. "They must have got this after we left. We should be able to get this stuff back to Woodbury,"

"Yeah, I know Daryl got shot, but all this will really help us," Martinez says.

"Yeah, Hershel probably has a trailer or something around here. Oscar, Tomas, why don't you two go look for it?" Shane asks the two, who nod as they leave.

"I'm sorry about your friends. I bet they were good people," Martinez says.

"They were," Shane says. "I made one of them a widow," Martinez looks at him. "I left her husband for the walkers so I could survive," Martinez nods as they continue to look around.

Daryl's P.O.V

Daryl opens his eyes again a few hours later and sees Alice looking around Hershel's room. "Can I please go see her grave?" Daryl asks the doctor, who looks at him.

"Fine. Let me get someone to help you," Alice says. Daryl nods as Alice leaves. She comes back a few minutes later with Oscar. Oscar walks over to Daryl and helps him up. Daryl and Oscar leave the house, and Daryl sees a trailer attached to the back of the truck, and the others are loading their supplies on there. Oscar leads Daryl to Carol's grave. He turns around as Shane walks over to him. He holds out two Cherokee roses with him.

"I remember when you gave them to her. I figured you might want to leave some here," Shane says. Daryl nods as he bends down, and the two men give him some space. Daryl lays the two flowers down.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I left. Maybe if I was here, you'd still be alive. I knew you were strong, Carol. I thought you could get through anything. I couldn't save Sophia, and I couldn't save you, and I promise you for as long as I breathe. I'll save every family I come across. I'll make sure they get to be a family. A family like you and Sophia should have been. One day I'll find the others, and I make sure Lori, Carl, and the baby are okay. You have my word," Daryl lays his hand on her cross. "Goodbye, Carol," Daryl stands up, and Oscar helps him walk away from the grave and to the house.

T-dog's P.O.V

T-dog throws a bag of supplies onto the trailer and looks at Merle as he walks over. "What happened between them? Carol and Daryl?" Merle asks the man. T-dog looks at him.

"After Sophia went missing. Daryl spent every waking moment looking for her. He had hope that she was still alive when none of us did. I took a bullet and an arrow to find that girl. He and Carol grew closer as he looked. He brought her a Cherokee rose. Carol was one of the first people to truly accept Daryl. I think that is the only reason he was thinking about staying," T-dog tells Merle, who nods.

"She was a nice lady back at the quarry. I'm sorry she went out that way," Merle says before he walks back inside.

"Yeah, me too," T-dog says as he follows him.

Tomas's P.O.V

Tomas helped Alice short through the medical supplies that she wanted to keep with her in case Daryl needed it. She looks at the man. "What did you want to do after you got out?" Alice asks Tomas, who glances at her.

"I never put much thought into it," Tomas tells her. "Every day there was how to keep myself alive and not someone's bitch. I made myself turn off my emotions. Stopped being human so I could do whatever I needed," Tomas tells the doctor.

"Have you turned those emotions back on?" Alice asks him.

"I like to think I did. That I still can," Tomas tells her. "I thought about trying to kill Daryl, Shane, T-dog, and Morgan. Maybe I didn't try it because I wanted to survive, or maybe I didn't do it because of Duane. But I didn't, and I'm glad I didn't," Tomas tells the blond, who smiles.

"Inside every man and woman, there is good and bad. I don't know what you did to get locked up, and I don't care. But if that bad, ever shows up or you show that you're going to be a danger to our people. It won't go good," Alice tells Tomas, who nods.

"Understood," Tomas tells her. Alice nods as she turns to leave with a bag. "Travel," Alice looks at him. "I wanted to travel and see popular landmarks," Alice nods with a smile before she leaves.

Merle's P.O.V

Everybody stood in the kitchen. "So, what is the plan?" Oscar asks.|

"Daryl needs at least another day to rest," Alice says.

"I'm fine," Daryl says.

"No, you're not. If you try riding that bike, you will tear those stitches, and I won't let you," Alice tells the redneck who looks away from her.

"How long?" Tomas asks.

"Two days at least," Alice says.

"There are some supplies in town we could look at tomorrow," Shane says.

"Okay, let's all turn in for the night," Merle says. Everybody nods as they walk away. Oscar walks to the couch and lays down. He closes his eyes as he goes to sleep.

Thanks for reading. I hope I did Carol and Daryl goodbye justice. Morales is in this story, and so is Milton. The next chapter will be on Dale's group. How long should I wait for Daryl and the others to find Rosita, Michonne, and Abe? As always, suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed. Until next time.
