Jonathan's pov
As I was walking towards the football field, my brother caught up to me. He smiled
"Hey, Stranger. Long time no see. You spend all your time with Mar now."
His tone was in no way hurt or accusatory. On the contrary, he had a cheek-splitting grin and spoke her name in a sing-songy voice making my face flush. I gently shoved him aside, in a playful manner. Even if I knew he could take a harder shove. I was still a bit envious of his powers, not gonna lie. I smiled back
"We get along, I was asked to show her around, we're in the same classes. That's it. There's nothing to put on a Broadway show about."
That last jab, playful as it was, had to do with the sing-songy way he said her name. Obviously disbelieving, he shrugged, smile still on his face
"If you say so... Maybe you just haven't realized it yet."
Before I could stress there was nothing to realize, practice had begun, and I was all about the game, same as Jordan. Dad watched from the sidelines, as he had become assistant coach to keep an eye on Jordan's increasing powers. That had been the deal for Jordan to be allowed to play, and it was nice to have them both there, something I never experienced while playing in Metropolis. At this present moment, I had to get my head in the game.
3rd person pov
The girl with the black hair and green and white highlights stood before her father, taking a break from the task that had been entrusted to her. After all, helicoptering her charge would only cause him to push her away in the end. Besides, all feelings of exasperation aside, she had wanted to spend some time with her father. It was somewhat of a tradition they had whenever her mother was out of town. Shop talk was not allowed unless urgently necessary. The girl approached her father with an armload of popcorn with M&Ms and a pile of romantic comedies. She smiled as he took the bowl from her, certainly preventing an upcoming disaster
"Ready, Daddy?"
He smiled as she slid in next to him after inserting the first DVD into the player and quickly pressed play, kissing her head
"Ready. How's school?"
She smiled
"Good. Making a lot of friends, doing everything I'm supposed to."
He smiled
"That's my girl. And, this is not meant to be shop talk, I do genuinly want to know this. Is your new friend ok? No... changes?"
The girl smiled
"No changes. Yet. He's... great."
With that, she curled up to him as they focused on their movie.
