Hey guys. I'm taking a small break from everything and am rewriting Katara Brainwashed, page by cringe-worthy page. Trust me. This revision is going to be sooo much better than the original. I already like it a lot better. It looks more like a story than a bundle of one-liners. So now, I can really feel good that there is a somewhat decent brainwashing story for people to enjoy.

Also, I messed up some things. I'm rebuilding the entire story now since I deleted the original chapter

Please enjoy. Or it kinda defeats the purpose of this remastering.

Katara softly hummed to herself as she cheerfully walked among the streets, examining wares and food in the market.

It was a beautiful day in Ba Sing Se. The sun was beaming down on the lively hustle and bustle of a typical afternoon in the city's Lower Ring. Puffy white clouds floated lazily above the streets filled with activity and action. Children laughed and shouted as they played and fought with each other. Adults were arguing and chatting, haggling over the price of certain items they wished to acquire, and spreading gossip throughout their spheres of influence: "Did you hear that so-and-so did..." "Or that those two..."

But Katara paid no heed to those people. For she was wrapped in her own bubble of happiness. Everything was going her way, for the first time in her life. The Avatar loved her, despite all the odds, despite all the barriers, despite all the obstacles. She still remembered the first passionate kiss that marked the start of their official relationship, fingers unconsciously reaching up to touch her lips, remembering the feeling of having and being had by Aang... not that anything else was particularly bad, either. Toph was her usual crassy self, albeit more relaxed without her authoritative parents hovering over her or the imminent threat of a Fire Nation ambush. In fact, she had finally deigned to visit her own home again - provided her parents respected who she'd become. And Sokka was just... Sokka, although he did have a rather wonderful moment when he was initiated into the White Lotus. The pure, adulterated joy on her older brother's face brought smiles to all and tears to many as their father had proudly remarked that Sokka was growing up, and would soon become a fine leader of their tribe in the south. The four were currently living together in the Upper Ring of Ba Sing Se - having procured a home of their own in the lucrative district - and they were plunged into a Golden Age of enjoyment and relaxation.

But time flies by, and good times never last. Especially ones as perfect as hers after the war. So when Aang opened the door to the pantry, checking their food reserves to find nothing but a disappointed Momo on top of an empty crate of Moon Peaches, their ingnorant bubble popped, and it was brought to their attention that they needed to find food - fast - before Sokka started crying over a lack of meat. So it was that Katara volunteered to go to the market.

Naturally, Aang wanted to accompany his girlfriend to go shopping, but as Katara very well knew, excursions with the Avatar almost never ended well. specially when one was head over heels over said Avatar. "I'm going with you," said Aang, preparing a disguise for himself, but Katara stopped him right in his tracks.

"Absolutely not, sweetie," Katara said, rolling her eyes. "No matter what you do, you're just going to attract attention to yourself, and then a bunch of fans are going to mob you. Not to mention people are going to give and demand favors from us. It's really not conducive to quick and efficient shopping. With me alone, it's different. No boy wants to mess with me because they don't want my angry glowing boyfriend on their heels, and I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself if they do decide to take some crazy drastic action. Besides, I focus better at shopping when you're not there to distract me or cause a ruckus."

Aang grinned mischievously. "Hey, don't blame me for your own lack of focus. It's not my fault that you didn't decide to fight back."

Katara blushed. "Yes it is, especially when you're so hard to resist," she said demurely. She still remembered the last time they had went out shopping. It eventually led to her being held against the wall, every part of her being being treasured by the Avatar's soft lips, the food they bought laying scattered on the ground, forgotten. She could remember the tingling feeling she felt when Aang touched her, could remember the warmth and bliss the Avatar somehow managed to seduce her into.

And she also remembered that when that magical moment was finished, they had to start shopping. All over again. It wasn't an event she wanted to repeat.

Her face blushed redder at the intimate memory. "I'd rather have my moments with you in a private setting, not in a public area for all to see... and hear. Besides, shopping takes not twice, but thrice the time it should whenever you're around. So thanks, but no thanks." Aang gave her those puppy-dog eyes she just couldn't resist. "Tell you what, sweetie. If you don't go, I won't be as distracted. I'll be able to return home sooner, and then we can spend some alone time together. How about that?" she said mindlessly, lost in the pools of grey before her.

Aang smiled. "Okay, sweetie. That's fine with me."

Katara kissed him on the cheek. "Bye, sweetie. I love you."

Aang kissed her on the lips. "Love you too." But when Aang started to move down to her neck, she shied away, thinking that enough was enough. "Okay, okay, Aang. I get it. The sooner I get to shopping, the sooner I finish it, and the sooner I get back home to you. Okay?" she smiled at Aang, knowing he couldn't resist her. It make her heart flutter to know that she had such a powerful effect on the world's most powerful person - and on the one who stole her heart.

Aang blushed furiously and rubbed the back of his neck. "I guess you're right. Goodbye, Katara."

And with a wave to each other, Katara left the comfort of their home, feeling her neck turn hot under the gaze Katara was certain that Aang was directing on her.

She could've sworn her White Lotus fanatic of an older brother had said to Aang, "Oogies! What have I said about displaying affection in front of me? Ugh!" and that after his initial outburst, he changed his voice into that annoying Wang Fire figure they had created back in the Fire Nation. "As your punishment, young man, I shall force you to practice the White Lotus Code with me."

She had quickened her pace from the scene, knowing that Aang was not going to be too pleased with her abandoning him when she got back.

There she was. The Watertribe peasant. The one who stole her honor, who unjustly took away the Fire Nation throne with the help of her stupid Zuzu.

So stupid of her. To be in public like this. A pity the Avatar wasn't with her. But maybe... that just made things easier for her. Much easier to take down one person - and then let trust lead the way and pave the fall of the others.

She was perched on a rooftop, watching the savage girl wander throughout the streets, shopping for her own food like a peasant (although she supposed the girl was a peasant to begin with). What was more, she was alone, without an entourage accompanying her or escorting her or protecting her or even flocking to her. She snorted smoke out of her mouth. Once upon a time - what a childish start to a sentence that was - she would have stayed calm and collected, planning her first move. But she was beyond that. This peasant had ruined it all.

It was time for payback.

She signaled the two Dai Li agents she had with her, also hidden among the rooftops. She couldn't believe she deigned to be in such close proximity with such filthy Earth swine, but then again, it wasn't their fault the filthy watertribe peasant had reduced her to such low and demeaning positions. "Kong. Xi. Get her. Bait her and then knock her unconscious, then we must teach her to hate the Avatar and blindly follow me to whatever ends I may have in store for her. Then the world will fall, and the power will be all mine. And when I wake her up, she will have no one to blame but herself." She cackled softly to herself, and then noticed the two bumbling idiots were still there. "Well?" she hissed at them. "Go and get her!"

Their eyes widened, their faces paled, and she could see them trembling in their well-worn boots. As it was supposed to be. Trust was for fools. Only fear led to true power and domination. "Yes, Firelord Azula," they responded, bowing low to her and jumping off to carry out her bidding.

She grinned. The watertribe peasant wouldn't know what hit her... if she even realized she was hit in the first place...

Katara flitted in and out of stalls, buying some sea prunes here, obtaining some moon peaches there. She was in the process of poking one especially cranky woman's tofu to test its quality when, out of the corner of her eye, she saw a flash of green.

She turned her head, tofu long forgotten. She caught a blur of a distinctive, recognizable image. She blinked to confirm she wasn't going insane, and then widened in shock and disbelief at the insignia she was confronted with. A yellow dot at the center of an ocean of green, with a circle with a yellow outline surrounding both. It was a symbol Katara had long despised, a symbol that reminded her of her worst memories, a symbol that stood for everything she was against, a symbol she had thought long gone with the end of the Hundred Years' War.

The symbol of the Dai Li.

Her heart racing, she dropped the food she had bought, shopping being the least of her concerns. She faintly heard the vendor behind her shout, "Hey! You, stupid girl! Why touch my tofu if you won't even buy it?" She paid no heed. She started sprinting after the running man who arrogantly displayed such traitorous markings on his clothing, which - she realized - resembled the Dai Li's elegant, sinister robes to the thread. The Dai Li? she thought numbly. How are they still around? I thought King Kuei had disbanded them the moment he was reinstated into power! Oh dear... there goes the good times. Ugh. Back to work. I gotta catch them before they start causing trouble!

She barreled through the streets in a desperate attempt to catch up to the Dai Li Agent lookalike. She apologized to the people she disturbed, and threw out her money bag for compensation when she saw a certain memorable cart and realized nothing she could do would prevent the merchant's wares from being completely destroyed...

"MY CABBAGES!" the merchant wailed as Katara crashed through his wooden cart and sailed down the street in pursuit of the Dai Li Agent.

After weaving through the labyrinth that Ba Sing Se was hapharzardly constructed into, the Dai Li Agent turned one last corner. Katara came skidding right after, and stopped to find a dark, empty alleyway. Puzzling over what exactly she had been chasing, she explored the alleyway trying to find any trace, any clue of the person bedecked in Dai Li uniform she had given chase to and had to drop her newly-bought food for. She began to examine the ground when she suddenly heard a voice behind her drawl, "Looking for me?"

She whirled around a second too late. The earthen hands sent out at her slammed her into the dead end, and after she was let go, she crumpled to the ground, unconscious.

Azula leapt down from the rooftops where she had observed everything occur, and she nodded to her subordinates. "Excellent. Besides the fact that you two took an eternity to take her down. Ah well. What matters right now is that we have her, and that there is no one who could possibly stop us now. My plans of revenge will be able to come to fruition. Now," Azula grinned. "We move on to step two. Let's see what she thinks after we expose her to some... mental adjustments."

Please Review. I hope you all like this much better.
