This is a boreal forest, on an island off the British Columbian coast. At night, it can get dark and creepy. More than once, a Sasquatch has been sighted here.

This doesn't intimidate Giselle at all. She's completed her mission, and she's on the road from victory. She's got diamond knives to spare...as well as metahuman telekinesis. Some of her knives still have blood on them.

Clouds of mist cover the ground. A chill rises from the same. Giselle's in bare arms; she shivers a bit. She toughs it out, though. She's a bitch. She doesn't know weakness, and she doesn't expect to start, ever.

She's very vulnerable right now. Scary; she doesn't feel it.

She hears something. She can't see it...but she's got a bad feeling nonetheless. Hence, she climbs a tree. Once up in it, she keeps several knives drawn.

Something big lumbers into view, from where that sound came from. It looks, and moves, like a zombie. He's huge; Giselle can tell, from this far away.

Meet Cyrus Gold...back from the dead. Last anyone's ever seen of him, he was murdered by the Green Arrow. Clearly, the liquid chemicals that killed him didn't plan to keep him dead forever...assuming they were even MADE to keep him dead forever.

Giselle doubts she can take on this guy. On the other hand, despite his hideous appearance, he's not exactly acting like a formidable foe...

In the woods, he stops...and turns his head slightly towards Giselle. Giselle's heart stops, of course. She's got shuriken drawn. She's poised to throw them...as much as she's pretty sure it's going to take more of these than she has to beat this brute.

Alas, Gold soon blinks...best he can, considering that zombies aren't known for their flexibility...and moves on. He sneezes. Giselle wants to vomit, at the sight of the macabre that comes from his nose and mouth when he does.

Soon, he's moved on. Giselle waits, until she can no longer hear him...and then she waits some more. She's pretty sure he's not smart enough to bait a trap for her. Even if he was, she doubts he could come up with a bait that could tempt her...as slightly manly as she does find Gold.

Sad; Gold reminds her, in many ways, of her ex-boyfriend, Tobias Whale. But of course, Whale was BORN white. Plus, he can talk a little more like a high school dropout...whereas Gold talks more like a kindergarten dropout. But then, Whale was born to black parents. Gold's weren't black...but they might've been Jewish...which might as well be meaningless, considering that while Gold was born looking a bit more like his parents, he sure as hell doesn't now. Even so, he looks like a zombie now. And hence, even if his parents were alive, they'd reject him. Jews and whites, after all, haven't always been the best of friends.

Tobias is a black man, after all. And yet, for the most part, he's madder about the fact that he's an albino than he is proud to be a scion of Father Africa...

Now, Giselle's pretty sure the coast is clear. She pockets her knives, and starts to make way down the tree trunk...

She freezes, when she hears noises from above. The treetops are moving. And Giselle is PRETTY sure the wind isn't moving them...as familiar as she is with the concept of stronger winds at higher altitudes than at lower ones...

From out of nowhere, many animated vines grab her, and hold her upside down over a clearing. She thrashes, swears, draws all of her knives, and empties her arsenal at her foe.

From above, in the shadows between the tree limbs, a pair of eye-like devices glow, and glare down at her. As unlike Giselle as it is to get scared easily, seeing this not only scares her enough to scream, but it scares her enough to stop throwing the knives.

Before she knows it, she's surrounded in a cocoon of vines, leaves, and vegetative matter in general. Next, she's levitated into the trees...like something being hoisted by a crane.

Up there, someone's spun a spider web of vines. Some of these vines grow themselves, and binds Ms. Cutter's pod to the viney spider web.

Above her, from the web, a man made of wood and leaves perches like a spider, and peers at her with the strangest-looking eyes. Once, this man was a medical wizard named Jason Woodrue. Like Gold, however, his alter ego is dead. Alas, whereas Gold is a body with no soul...Woodrue, by contrast, is now a soul with no body. And now, he possesses plants.

He and Swamp Thing share an origin story. Alas, Woodrue is no Swamp Thing. He's someone else. He's SOMETHING else.

And now, the Cutter has climbed right into his trap. He has plans for her. If she were awake, she'd be dreading them.
