Author's note:

First of all, I thank you all for your supports and compliments. Now, for the replies of several advise and critics. I don' t replies review from anonymous guests or review that I don't think I need to respond (Compliments and support).

Zerosenpai: Thank you for your review. I plan to have Ainz do things differently. There will be similar progress but with different end, there are scenes that doesn't happen in this fanfic, and there are original scenes. I don't know much about politics or economy, so I will mostly skip parts about policies and economy and do them offscreen. This fanfic won't focus much on them anyways.

mezentsevmichael: Thank you for your compliment. As for your question, Nazarick won't make appearance in the other world. This fic was meant to be Ainz accidentally conquers a world alone, so I won't include Nazarick after Ainz got summoned.

ILikeGoodStories: For the updates, ideally, I plan to update once every 3 - 4 weeks. But I can't promise that every time. There are times where I will update consistently and there are times where real life takes priority. But I'm going to finish at least one volume.

Daniel-palacio: There is a reason why [Gate] exploded when Ainz step through it. This reason is part of the world building I planned for this fic. In fact, assuming I will reach several volumes, the reason why [Gate] exploded would be a vital part of the volume. But I don't know if I will reach that much.

As for Ainz having the ability to take human form, I won't make that happens. There is no reason to. As far as I know, Ainz did not have human form aside from illusion. And plus, Ainz being a skeleton is one of the charm of the Overlord.

maskedkeeper: Don't worry. One great aspect about Overlord is a dysfunctional harem. I planned to keep it that way.

Emanuel Franco: There is an in - universe reason that [Gate] doesn't work. It would be explained in later volumes, assuming I reach that far.

NodariusV: Ainz would definitely handle many things differently. There will be several things that happen similar to Realist Hero canon, but I try write them so that it won't feel out of character for Ainz. There will be several things that doesn't happen or will be different.

I own nothing. Overlord/オーバーロード belongs to Maruyama Kugane and How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom/現実主義勇者の王国再建記 belongs to Dozeumaru.

Chapter 2

Parnam.

It was the capital city of the Kingdom of Elfrieden. Located in the heartland of the kingdom, the capital housed hundreds of thousands people. As the center trading hub, it was also regularly visited by merchants from all over the kingdom.

This city was where the residence of the Elfrieden Kingdom's monarch was. The Parnam castle, a huge tall castle with cone shaped roof. The roof was painted orange. The castle stood tall with outer wall over fifteen meters in height. The outer wall was connected to the outside of the castle with tall gates full of moats. The said moats were filled with water to prevent someone pass through it. Each gates were located in north, south, east, and west of the outer wall.

The rest of the castle was built on top of a hill in the relatively flatland of where the capital stood. This gives the impression the castle was so high and tall to those who view the castle from the corner of the capital.

Surrounding the castle, was the town that made the rest of the city. The city was protected by walls around twelve meters, an astounding achievement for such a large city. The roofs in the noble's quarter and the peasants quarter were uniformly orange, matching the castle roofs. Gates in the north, south, east, and west were also present. The city gates were connected to the castle gates with large roads that were always busy with carriages and large mounted beasts.

Aside from the main roads, there were also countless smaller cobblestone roads radiating out from the castle. These small roads were connected by yet more small roads. If seen from the air, the city would have resembled a spider's web, or perhaps a snowflake. These roads were lined on both sides with merchants and tradespeople, and they were always bustling.

Today, the marketplace was even more busy than usual. The reason for this was probably because of holiday. More specifically the first holiday since the new king, Ainz Ooal Gown, had been given the throne.

The news about summoning a foreign monarch had become the latest juicy gossip. Summoning a foreign king would have cause war normally, but since the foreign king was from another world, not many worried about a potential war.

The abdication of King Albert divided the population into two groups, one that support the betrothal of the foreign king to the Princess. The other against the abdication of King Albert, fearing their beloved king was forced to do so.

However, since King Albert had announced his abdication of his own will, the tension between two groups naturally died down.

Since the former king had ruled through being loved, the rumors settled down to:

"Well, if the king is fine, I guess it's okay."

"Yeah, the pressure really seemed to be getting to him. I'm glad he has that weight off his shoulder now."

"He'll be able to take it easy now. It's best for everyone this way."

The people's interpretations of what happened were largely favorable. It seemed the former king's lackadaisical manner was in tune with the national character. It was a normal peaceful day in Parnam as people of many races went about their business.

In the peaceful afternoon, a white horse galloped down the cobblestones. The cobblestones that the horse galloped belong to the main street that connected to the western gate.

The horse looked strong with visible muscle in many parts that people can see. A saddle made of the finest material rested in the horse's back. The saddle has red and brown as the dominant color. In its belly, there was a pair of stirrup that made of a silvery metal, shining with grace.

The horse's mane was as white as its skin. Flailing around each pace it took. Its tail was also white in color, long and healthy, proving that the owner of the horse took care of it well.

If the horse could be considered a beauty, then the person rode it was beautiful.

The young girl wore a red military uniform. The thigh fitting uniform accentuated the well – balanced lines of her body. With a red short skirt bellow the suit, the uniform looked feminine, fitting its wearer. The uniform was also decorated with a little crimson ascot tie in the neck part. Golden epaulette rested in both of her shoulder accompanied with some military badges.

In her legs, there was a pair of dark brown military boots. The said boots easily reached her knees. Between her skirt and boots, she wore a white trouser. Most part of the trouser was covered by her boots and skirt.

Her platinum blonde hair swayed around with each step her horse took. The hair was tied with a crimson ribbon that matched her outfit. It easily reached her waist.

Her golden irises locked to her target. The beautiful irises matched her blonde hair.

Her face was young. It looked like it belongs to someone in early adulthood or late teen. The face twisted to a grim expression. Biting her lower lip, the beautiful girl rode forward.

As the girl passed, the people let out gasps of admiration. Soon, the gasps turned into happy cheers. The citizens happily congratulate their princess.

"Congratulations on your betrothal, Princess!"

"We wish you happiness."

Many other similar phrases were shouted. The people sent her their warmest regard, unaware of her feelings.

'Father, Mother… Please, be safe!' The princess thought to herself, praying for her parent's safety. Her face looked pained.

In a room of the Parnam castle, there was a rather wide and long bed. The sheet was white in color complete with two red pillows and a crimson blanket that was laid in the whole bed.

In the right and left side of the head of the bed, there was a small white table with three drawers each. In served as a small table for two expensive yellow lamp.

The bedroom was rather large. With white marble floor and white wall, the room gives the image of a royal suit.

A luxurious red sofa was laid in front of the fire place. The said sofa had golden edges. The fire place was not less expensive. With intricate carving in its design, such fire place fit the white theme of the room.

The windows gave a great view of the capital. However, it doesn't give many view of the castle. This way, the occupant of the room wouldn't be able to spy the palace from above should they are spies sent by the enemy.

The balcony in the side of the room was filled with a table and two chairs. The said table was round and was made with white metal. Bellow the table, there was an exquisite wood carving that made the part of the table leg.

On top of the table, there was a bowl of ice cream. The bowl was beautifully crafted with the highest pottery the kingdom can offer. Accompanying the bowl, there were also a set of teapot complete with its tray and two cup of tea.

The chairs that complement the table were also made with a combination of white metals and intricately carved woods matching its table.

Sat in the chairs, were a pair of man and woman.

The man wore a blue afternoon suit. His hair was grey that reached his neck, trimmed curl in the sides of his cheeks. A white mustache and beard decorated his face.

The woman wore a violet dress that matched her husband's suit. Her hair was platinum blonde that tied with a ribbon. It easily reached her waist.

"Say ah, darling."

The beautiful woman said while carrying a spoon of ice cream to the man's mouth.

"Ah."

The man opened his mouth and was fed by her wife. The couple happily fed each other with a spoon of ice cream.

Crack!

The door connecting the bedroom and the outside was slammed open. From there, a young girl with a familiar red military uniform emerged.

"Father! What is the meaning of this?"

The girl demanded, raising her voice at the sight before her.

"Ah, Liscia, my daughter," the man wearing blue afternoon suit said a little surprised.

The young girl, whose name was revealed to be Liscia, marched towards her father with clear anger in her eyes.

"Father, when I heard your throne had been usurped by a foreign king, I hastened back from my patrol outside the capital! So, why is it that I now find you two feeding each other without a care in the world?!"

Liscia was mad. From the tone she was using, one can easily say this.

"There was no usurpation, really. I abdicated of my own will," her father responded calmly.

Liscia was stunned, but she immediately schooled her expression and retorted back.

"And why would you do that?!"

"I had become certain that that man would make a better king for this nation than I. This is a decision that I came to as the one entrusted with this country, and I take full responsibility for it. I will tolerate no objections."

The tone former King Albert used was stern and full of dignity and authority. His eyes hardened. This was a man who had, until recently, carried a nation on his shoulder.

Liscia, unable to retorted back, was forced to use her last card in this talk. The fact that her father answered confidently is enough to shrink her gut to object him.

"… Urkh.. But how could you decide my engagement without even consulting me?"

"You may discuss that between yourselves. The betrothal was something I forced on him to begin with. If you do not want it, I doubt Sir Gown will force the matter," his answer was stern, contrasting the dumbfounded Liscia.

"Motheeeeer!"

Liscia, with little tear in her eyes, shouted to her mother for help. However, her only hope was crushed mercilessly. Her mother only smiled and said back.

"Meet Sir Gown for yourself first. This is your life, so you must decide what you will do with it yourself. Whatever your decision is, we will respect it," her voice was calm, befitting the motherly aura she excluded.

This, however, was not something Liscia hoped. With not even a straw to grasp at, Liscia's shoulder slumped. She then took a seat in the sofa in her parent's bedroom. Her body slumped on the sofa like a puppet whose strings had been cut.

"My dear, just go and see Sir Gown yourself. I am certain that you will find his company to be enjoyable," Liscia's father, former King Albert, said with warm of a father could muster.

Liscia, hearing her father, pouted like a child whose wish wasn't fulfilled.

"Liscia."

Her mother spoke like a true mother would do in this situation. As every mother would do, her voice was warm and sounding tired, as if she didn't want to hear Liscia's plea.

The sweet and tired sound of her mother wake Liscia from her misery.

Lisica sighed. She cannot deny her mother. As military personnel, this spoiled act was detested. She joined the military to be a strong girl, not to be a spoiled brat that rose through the rank using her parent's position.

Despite not in a high rank, she earned her officer rank through her own blood and sweat. Although due to her birth, she was often tasked with mission of special nature.

"Fine."

Standing up, Liscia departed the room of the former royal couple and walked across the palace.

It had been some weeks since she had left this palace for her regional patrols. The palace felt different. The usual relaxed air of the castle was gone. This, of course, caught Liscia's attention the moment she left her parent's bedroom. Since her father's abdication, her parent had been living in the guest bedroom. The King's bedroom was used by the new king. Because she searched the guest bedroom where her parent was currently resided in hurry, she didn't take a notice of the unusual air in the palace.

Along the route to the King's Office, she found many servants running around. From the guards, the maids, the bureaucrats, even the ministers, none was not in a state of hurry.

She passed a pudgy minister running about and gasping with sweat beading on his forehead. His fat belly hanging from his body bounced every step he took.

She could only stare dumbfounded at this funny sight.

This phenomenon was so surreal in the palace. The palace she remembered had been a place so relaxed that it felt as if time just flowed slower there. Everyone would walk slowly. One could even hear the palace guards training in the courtyard from anywhere in the palace.

Come to think of it, hadn't Liscia joined the officers' academy because she had been sick and tired of that atmosphere? She remembered how she would get sick of the way everyone did everything in a slow pace. The boring atmosphere of the usual palace made her went to become a military officer in the first place. That, and she want to follow the steps of the man she admired.

As Liscia thought of that man, a maid passed by. She wore a black and white uniform a palace maid usually wore. The uniform she wore was wet of sweats, probably because she was rushing in hurry.

She also carried a bucket of water. The way she carried the bucket with her hands was admirable. The water in the bucket was not splattered all over the floor. Liscia surely cannot perform the same task with the same proficiency.

"Can I have a moment?" Liscia called out the maid who was rushing past.

"Why, Princess! How may I be of service?" the maid asked, slowing her walking pace so that she can properly answered.

She didn't even place the water bucket before asking.

"Um… Everyone in the castle seems to be in an awful hurry. Is there something happening?"

"No? Nothing in particular."

"Are you sure? It felt like everyone was rushing to do something…"

A realization came to the maid's face.

"Ah.. Perhaps it is our new king's influence. When we see how that man works, it makes us feel bad if we don't work too. I couldn't stand to be slow myself either.. Ah, I'm in the middle of something right now, so I will take my leave!"

"I – I see… Do your best."

The maid bowed her head and proceed to jogging to her original destination.

As she watched the maid speed off, Liscia was dumbfounded.

'For him to make even the maids feel this way, just how hard does the new king work!? Just what kind of guy have I gotten myself betrothed to?!' Liscia thought to herself. She found herself wanting to bury her head in her hands all the more.

The more she learns about this new king, the more she confused what kind a man he was.

There are no point waiting longer. She must find her answer in the King's Office.

Liscia continued to walk to her destination, passing more servants working in hurry.

Finally, she arrived in her destination.

The pair of door was made of wood of high quality. It was not painted, so it retains its dark natural wood color. It was tall enough for a large beastman to pass through, around two and a half meters in height.

With a determination, Liscia's right hand was put in the door's handle. Taking a breath, she finally opened the door.

'Haaaahh…' Ainz sighed in his heart.

Right now, he was still working since days ago. This situation was not unusual. However, there were a more concerning matters. Matters that Ainz would never thought he would have.

Ainz was sitting in his office. The room, like many rooms in this castle, was painted white. However, this room lacked decoration that the throne room Ainz was first summoned possessed.

Many people running in the room, carrying stacks of paper and other important document. They wore luxurious clothes that were stained with their sweat.

Many tables with stacks of paper stood side by side inside the room. There were also people who worked behind those stacks of paper, sitting on simple chairs.

Ainz himself was also sitting on more luxurious chair. In front of him, was a more expensive wooden table with some intricate carving.

What troubles him was not only his position, but also what stood on the table.

It was stacks of paper, a lot of them. More than any other table in the room.

Recently, Ainz was summoned in another world. Unlike his previous world, this time, Ainz knew why he was summoned. He was to be a hero that saves the world against demons that he knew nothing about.

However, the country that summoned him was poor and in a famine, so they initially planned to give him to other country.

He of course refused to be a bargain chip. He cannot abandon Nazarick nor his friend's creation. As such, Ainz was still trying to find a way to return to his world. He wouldn't hesitate to use force if necessary.

Ainz realized that he was in an unknown situation. What if there was something that can harm him? There was too little information. Because of that, Ainz must not make any unnecessary enemies.

Ainz originally wanted to help this country with some advices to face against economic disaster that was currently happening in this land. But…

'Who would have thought I would be appointed as the king of this nation?' Ainz thought to himself.

The previous king, Albert Elfrieden, was a meek man. But he was also a smart guy. Ainz was surprised during their talk after he was summoned. The talk continued for a whole night, yet King Albert did not show any sign of exhaustion.

The man in that discussion was not the same meek and nervous man that summoned him.

The abdication of King Albert and his own appointment as the next ruler stunned Ainz. This even forced Ainz to abandoned his first plan.

Despite that, Ainz gained a better way to get resources. He originally planned to be a famous adventure and try to gain information of magic in addition to Elfrieden royal library.

With a wealth of a country - not that Ainz don't have it in his person - Ainz can easily order a national project to the royal magician in this country.

The research was still begun. However, Ainz must gather funds to pay war subsidies to Gran Chaos Empire, so he must work hard to maintain this country's economy.

His experience as the King of the Sorcerous Kingdom taught him how to manage a country.

'But corruption in this place is widespread.'

Ainz thought how many nobles and lower level government officials commit crimes that worsened the already worse situation. This corruption level is unheard of in the Sorcerous Kingdom, where the non - undead officials and nobles are appointed based on their merit, a system that Ainz approved very much.

'Their riches and unnecessary jewelries stored by the crown helped a lot here. It's good that they cannot rebel alone.'

The nobles of this land possess little army of their own. With the exception of the royal army and some personal guards, the military of Elfrieden belongs to three nobles. Because of that, most nobles are no threat to the royal army if they take over the possession of the corrupt nobles.

However, this means that there are three nobles that can potentially rebels against Ainz in the future, something that can destabilize this country and hinder the process of returning to his world.

Although Ainz alone can crush these three nobles with ease, he didn't want to reveal his power. Unknown enemies may learn his power and formed a strategy to defeat him.

Using his own magic is a last resort. If there are rebellions, at most, Ainz would only use reconnaissance magic to spy or just send some summons.

Using undead is also not a good first choices. He did not know what this country's view of the undead. As such he can only perform this after he learns of the undead position in the society. Also, he can only do it with criminals that were convicted with death sentence. Else people with fear him and rebel. The same reason prevented Ainz from showing his true face.

He can secretly kidnap people to be experimented but Ainz doesn't want to use his own people when there are more efficient alternatives. Although he was just recently become their leader, Ainz don't want to sully his name by becoming a tyrant who is unnecessarily cruel to his people. At least, not when he cannot afford more enemies.

'Being a good boss makes the subordinates loyal after all.' Ainz mused to himself.

And then there was his engagement. When King Albert abdicated, he also engaged his daughter with Ainz.

From what Ainz managed to find, King Albert's daughter was a military officer.

'Her name was.. What was it?'

Ainz nearly forget her name. It was mostly because he was putting his engagement aside.

'Ahh..'

"Liscia Elfrieden."

Ainz, remembering her name, said out loud.

"My Lord?"

The prime minister, Marx, asked Ainz nervously.

'Hmm?'

Ainz, realizing he said his thought loudly, immediately responded to Marx.

"Think nothing of it. I just realized something."

Ainz said with his deep baritone voice.

"… As you wish."

Marx bowed his head a little. He then returned to his paper work.

Ainz was an undead. The highest tier undead. He cannot produce heir. This engagement was destined to fail at the beginning.

Initially, Ainz wanted to cancel his engagement soon after King Albert announced it, but Ainz held his nonexistent tongue. Refusing a marriage after the engagement was announced is rude.

So Ainz planned to sort this out by discussing with Liscia Elfrieden later. He would convince Liscia to cancel this engagement. It's not like he can fulfill the purpose of marriage after all. In addition, He cannot stay forever in this world. Nazarick and the NPCs were waiting for him.

Crack!

Just as Ainz thought about the NPCs, a young woman entered the room. She wore a red military uniform. The thigh fitting uniform accentuated the well – balanced lines of her body.

Unlike the military uniform Ainz was used to, the girl's uniform has a red skirt under its suit. A crimson ascot tie decorated the suit. Golden epaulette rested in both of her shoulder. Just like Pandora's Actor, the uniform was equipped with military badges showing her rank in the army.

In her legs, there was a pair of dark brown military boots. The said boots easily reached her knees. Between her skirt and boots, she wore a white trouser. Most part of the trouser was covered by her boots and skirt.

Overall, the uniform cannot match the coolness the uniform that Ainz designed for Pandora's Actor.

'No No. If only the wearer is as cool.'

Ainz shook his head. Of course, he did it in his imagination. He cannot lose his composure by just thinking of his creation after all.

'But her uniform is cool as well, if not fitted to her.'

Ainz commented while continued to observe the girl.

The girl's platinum blonde hair was tied with a crimson ribbon that matched her outfit. It easily reached her waist.

If Ainz was to gives his opinion, he would say that her golden irises matched her hair. She looked like Queen Elisha, but a lot younger. If the queen was around her mid thirty, then this young woman barely reached her twenty.

With skin that was so pale as to be translucent, silky platinum blonde hair, and golden irises, she reminded Ainz of the Homunculus maids serving in the Ninth and Tenth Floor.

Instantly Ainz knew that this girl was Liscia Elfrieden. The woman he was betrothed to.

The way she opened the door gave Ainz a bad first impression.

The thunderous sound of the door being opened made Ainz thought that somebody was trying to kick the door.

The girl looked around the room for a while. When her gaze fell unto Ainz, she walked to him.

'What is happening?'

Liscia thought to herself.

The new king's office was crowded. Many bureaucrats were working here. Some were running carrying documents while others were checking and stamping stacks of paper in their desk.

When she was a child, her father's office was never this crowded. Sometimes she would play here while her father was working.

Seeing this new atmosphere in the castle previously made Liscia a little calm about the unusual condition.

She finally spotted a peculiar spot. That table was more luxurious than other tables the bureaucrat used. This gave sign of the important rank of the person behind it. The stacks of paper in that distinctive table were taller than others.

However, what caught Liscia's attention was not the table, but the person behind it.

He was tall person in jet black robe. If many bureaucrats were covered behind their papers, this man was tall enough that someone would have saw his head protrude from the mountain of paperwork, which was taller than in the other tables.

Covering on his face, was a red mask that was usually found far in the southeast. The mask looked bizarre, as if a demon was angry and grieving.

The tall man looked like a demon who stared at Lisica's soul, ready to claim it. Sinister yet powerful.

The mask stared at Liscia's eye. It looked like it was appraising her.

After hearing the description of the foreign king that has usurped her father's throne, she quickly understood who he was.

The aura he excluded was weighting on Liscia's shoulder. Hearing about him and seeing him in person felt different.

Swallowing the lump of saliva in her mouth, Liscia strode forward confidently. She cannot lose face after the way she rudely opened the door, else the opposition party would look down on her.

As Lisica walked to him, the man stood from his chair. He was a lot taller than her. The powerful visage of the man who claimed the title "Sorcerer King" dwarfed everyone in the room.

Seeing as the Sorcerer King standing, the people in the room went silent, those who were running were stopped on their track. Every eye fell upon the King and herself. Liscia cannot show any weakness in front of them all. As she was a military officer, she must stand proudly.

At a close inspection, the man was decorated in jewelries. Liscia was not too proficient with jewelry, but she understood that the jewelries the new king wore were not cheap.

Covering his hands, was a plain and simple pair of metal gauntlet.

When Liscia arrived in front of the table, the tall man in black robe spoke.

"Good afternoon. Are you Liscia Elfrieden, daughter of former king Albert?"

A deep baritone voice greeted Lisica. The foreign king sounded very regal and polite.

"… Good afternoon. Yes, I am Liscia Elfrieden."

Liscia reply politely. The foreign king was polite, as such she must return the gesture as well.

"Splendid."

The King clapped his hands.

"I would like you to be in my chamber tonight."

The gentle voice reached Lisica's ear.

Liscia, hearing the blunt approach, was stunned. Her porcelain white face became as red as tomato.

"W – What?!"

The King tilted his head as in confussion.

"You heard me very well, princess Liscia. Go to my chamber and wait for me there. I still had paper works needs to be done."

The answer was clear, devoid of any hole for misinterpretation.

Did the King want her tonight?

They haven't officially married. But Liscia had heard that some monarch beds their future queen to deepened their relationship.

Is he that type of person?

Premarital sex was considered taboo. Since there are chances that the man may leaves while the woman pregnant, many people view it as prohibited.

However, this was not true with royalty. Since the engagement of royals was a national or even international affair, the chance of the marriage cancelled was extremely low. Plus, the groom and the bride are expected to love each other. As such, premarital sex among engaged royals was not uncommon.

The people had supported their engagement. Many would have expected a new member of the royal family soon. Because of this, many expected that Liscia will give birth before official marriage.

Seeing there was no an excuse to refuse, Liscia asked back.

"W – Why?"

"Hm? Are you perhaps against our betrothal?" The Sorcerer King asked calmly.

Liscia widened her eyes.

"N.. No.."

"Then I must insist you to wait in my chamber."

The Sorcerer King cut her short.

There was no way out. No reason to refuse. If she refuses the Sorcerer King now, without a reason, and in front of this many people, she will offend him. She would also be a hot topic for gossip. Not just amongst the common people, but the military as well.

Liscia Elfrieden, the princess who coldly refused her fiance.

Liscia didn't want that to happen.

With a heavy heart, Liscia obliged.

"F – Fine. I shall prepare myself."

The Sorcerer King nodded and return to his seat. He stared at the document before him before stamped it.

Many bureaucrats in the room gave her reassuring smile. Prime Minister Max especially. His grandfatherly smile accompanied by a thumb up encouraged her of what will happen later.

With an embarrassed crimson face, Liscia walked outside. This time, she closed the door slowly.

'So this is Liscia Elfrieden, right?' Ainz mused to himself.

As she walked confidently to him, Ainz stood from his chair as a sign to respect the girl.

As Ainz rose, everyone ceased their activity and stared at him.

'Uwaaah. How embarrassing. Everyone is looking. I must to get everyone out.. but.. They are still doing their job.'

Ainz suddenly felt his confidence shrunk from the stares. He must convince Liscia to cancel the engagement in somewhere else.

"Good afternoon. Are you Liscia Elfrieden, daughter of former king Albert?"

'This must be good enough right?'

Ainz was worried that he will upset the opposite party. From the way she opened the door to her steps, she is the type that easily upset and impatient.

"… Good afternoon. Yes, I am Liscia Elfrieden."

There was a slight delay in her reply. She looked like she was evaluating Ainz from head to toe.

"Splendid."

Ainz clapped his hands in joy. He managed to confirm the identity of the newcomer without make a fool of himself.

"I would like you to be in my chamber tonight."

Ainz wanted to convince Liscia Elfrieden to cancel their betrothal here and now. However, the stares he received made him reconsider his place of choice. Since he had some paperwork to do, he wanted Liscia to wait in his chamber so that he can talk to her later.

Liscia's face became red as a tomato. She asked Ainz frantically.

"W – What?!"

'She sounded angry. Did I do something to upset her?'

"You heard me very well, princess Liscia. Go to my chamber and wait for me there. I still had paper works needs to be done."

Ainz reply was cold. It sounded like an ultimatum than a request.

'I think I upset her further. Nevermind, I'll solve this later.'

"W – Why?"

Liscia asked back. She sounded more dejected than before.

A thought crossed Ainz's mind. Did she come here to reject their engagement?

The fact that Ainz forced her to wait longer made him wonder. Was she saddened because Ainz reject her desire to cancel the betrothal? If this is true, then it's better that she rejects Ainz now than later. If not, then Ainz can convince her later.

'Uwaaahhh. Rejected by a beautiful girl in front of everyone is embarrassing. But for the sake of returning to Nazarick, it needs to be done.'

"Hm? Are you perhaps against our betrothal?"

Ainz asked to confirm his theory. He hoped that Liscia will reply with a 'Yes'.

"N.. No.."

Ainz hung his imaginary head low. He would have to talk her to cancel their betrothal. Keeping his misery alone, Ainz asked her to wait in his chamber later.

"Then I must insist you to wait in my chamber."

This might be sounded cold. But Ainz didn't desire to be engaged with a girl half his age.

"F – Fine. I shall prepare myself."

Liscia sounded like she didn't want Ainz to cancel their future marriage. But Ainz wanted her to cancel the engagement.

'It can't be helped. I must return to Nazarick as soon as possible. And plus, I.. don't think it will work anyways.'

Ainz thought about the necessary organ which was long gone.

Shaking his head in his imagination, Ainz nodded his head to Liscia, who left the room embarrassed to be rejected by Ainz. Ainz noted she closed the door without slamming it.

'Uwaaahhh… I looked like the bad guy here. Breaking a woman's love like that. Peroroncino san, what would you say to me?'

Ainz imagined Peroroncino scold him about closing a flag with a pretty girl.
