Bella woke up to the harsh splatter of rain drops hitting the window. Groggily, she shifted and scanned the bed for Paul - he was nowhere to be seen. Bella got up, throwing on warmer clothes before walk into the living room. Still no Paul.
After five minutes of searching, she finally gave up and went to the kitchen. She assumed Paul was out doing werewolf duties.
Hungry and bored, Bella cracked open a couple of eggs and fried them. After she was finished, she ate and cleaned up. Just when she was about to retreat back to the bedroom, Paul walked into the house, drenched.
Paul stopped in his tracks as his eyes settled on Bella. He took her in, a worried expression on his face. Bella saw that his inner wolf was concerned about her well-being. After they had made love, Paul was constantly checking to see if she was all right. She really didn't know that leaving him could really screw him up.
"Is everything okay?" Bella asked, avoiding silence.
Paul nodded, closing the space between them and pulled her into his arms. He didn't care that he was getting her wet; he just needed to feel her. Paul closed his eyes, breathing in her scent. He pulled away, creating the smallest of gaps between them, small enough for his hand to move and touch her swelling belly. He could feel twin's heart beats.
When Bella disappeared on him, his world crashed. He knew it wasn't just because of the imprint. He knew that he really did love her, with or without the influence of the imprint.
"How are you feeling?" He asked tentatively, resting his head at the crook of her neck.
Bella felt like she was melting in his embrace. "I-I'm...we're okay." She stuttered. Paul ran his nose up and down her neck, teasingly. "Paul, I really think we should talk about what happened."
Paul pulled away, frowning. "I thought we were past that."
Bella tore away from his embrace, moving towards the living room. She took a seat, relieved of standing. Paul joined her on the couch, sitting a couple of feet away.
"Just because we had sex, doesn't mean everything's okay." She pointed out.
Paul smirked. "With the way you were screaming, I thought it was."
Bella snorted. "I just want to know why you didn't tell me about her."
Paul sighed, running a hand over his face. He looked exhausted. "It was such a long time ago. How was I to know that she would do this to you? I didn't even know that she kept tabs on me."
Bella laughed humourlessly. "Well, if you all call her Crazy Ellie, then I would have guessed it shouldn't have been such a surprise."
Paul reached out, taking Bella's hand. "Look, Bella, she'll never hurt you or our babies. I'll never let that happen. No one will."
Bella knew he was being genuine, despite his vagueness of it all. "Fine. But if she gets anywhere near me, I'm setting my sister loose on her."
Paul chuckled. "Don't worry, she'll never be within a hundred yards of you."
Bella smiled, looking down at their intertwined fingers. "I love you."
Paul's thumb stroked the top of her hand, tracing small circled. "I love you, too."
Paul pulled away first, reluctant to let go. "Ready to find out their genders today?"
Bella nodded. "I hope they won't be too stubborn today."
"If they're anything like me, they definitely won't be shy." Paul joked.
Two hours later, Paul and Bella found themselves sitting in a small, confined waiting room. Bella was nervous. What if they found something abnormal? What if they detect something wrong with the babies? Paul sensed her nervousness and took her hand in his, lightly squeezing it.
A few moments later, a petite nurse came into the waiting room looking for them. Bella and Paul followed her into an examination room. The nurse showed Bella where to sit and ordered her to roll her shirt up just above the baby bump. Bella's tummy stuck out, round and swollen. Paul didn't let go of her hand.
The nurse turned to them after setting up the instruments. "Are you both ready to find out the sex of your babies?"
"We can't wait." Paul spoke for them. The nurse chortled. She had forewarned them that there might be a chance of not being able to identify the genders.
The nurse rubbed cool jelly all over Bella's stomach, making her gasp. The nurse took the camera-like instrument and rubbed it over the stomach, staring at the screen until something showed up. Bella felt herself tearing up at the sight of her babies. She was going to try to be the best mother ever.
"You're in luck, they're not shy today." The nurse grinned at the screen. "You see them?" The nurse pointed to the screen. "Looks like you'll be having twin boys!"
"My boys." Bella whispered, beaming at the screen. The nurse stood up, walking over to the machine to print a picture of the ultrasound. After she printed three pictures, she handed them to Paul, whom grinned idiotically.
"They're our babies." Bella stated, pushing herself up in order to see the pictures.
Both of them left the building, overjoyed at the news. Before getting in the car, Paul turned to Bella, taking hold of her hands.
"Bella, I'm so sorry about what happened...it didn't hit me until now, after realizing we're going to be parents, about how much you mean to me. I promise you, and I know the word 'promise' is so carelessly thrown around nowadays, but I genuinely promise to always be honest with you. I can't bear to lose you like I did. Being away from you for even a small amount of time his painful. And I never want to go through that again." Paul said, earnestly.
Bella half-smiled, letting go of Paul's hand in order to cup his face. "I feel the same way. I shouldn't have run away like I had. I've been running my whole life; I ran from my dad when things got tough. I ran away from Mike when he scared me. And I ran away from you when I couldn't handle the truth. I needed to learn that I should trust you - and I do - but I need you to trust me, too. And I know you do. I don't want to lose you, either."
Paul pressed his lips against Bella's. He rested his forehead against hers, pulling his lips away slightly in order to speak.
"I love you, Bella." He whispered, both their eyes locking. "How about we go tell the others the good news, yeah?"
"Sounds great."
As they pulled up in front of the house, Bella noticed that there was already a large group of people standing outside waiting for them. Bella saw her step-sister giggling in Embry's arms, looking happier than ever. It relieved Bella of the constant worrying that a bad person will end up snagging Angela.
Paul parked the car, running to the other side of the vehicle to help Bella out.
Before Bella could take a step, Angela had her arms wrapped around her neck. Bella jumped at the contact.
"Have you ever heard of personal space?" Bella queried.
"Tell me what you're having otherwise I won't let go!" Angela squeaked.
Paul tugged Bella from Angela's embrace, much to Angela's dismay. "You better tell me right now or God have mercy on your soul."
Bella looked up at Paul. "Now?"
Paul smirked, keeping eye contact with Angela. "Nah."
"You son of a bitch!" Angela cursed.
"May God have mercy on my soul!" Paul wailed, escorting Bella inside the house. The rest of the group laughed.
"Oh come on!" Angela whined, running after them.
Bella turned around, hating having to keep their little surprise a secret. "Come on, Paul."
"Okay, okay." Paul agreed, laughing to himself. "You tell them."
Bella wrapped her small arms around her large baby bump, grinning at the group that gathered in front of them. "We're having..." Bella paused, watching everyone gasp in anticipation. "Two little boys!"
The first thing they heard was Angela's ear-piercing scream. Everyone cringed. "Oh my god!" She squealed, clapping while jumping up and down. "These boys are going to be the most spoiled little kids in the world!"
The pack congratulated both Paul and Bella, some giving them hugs or high fives. Embry came up to Bella, an amused smile on his face.
"So two little boys, huh?" He said. "Well let's hope they look more like their mother than their father."
"You fucker, I heard that!" Paul shouted.
Embry held his hands up in surrender. "Hey bro, just speaking up for the crowd." Embry smiled humorously, pulling Paul into a hug. "Congrats, man."
The night slowly went by, everyone was huddled in front of a big fire, talking about everything and nothing all at the same time. The big topic was the twin boys; what would they look like? Would they look more like Bella or Paul?
Bella sat back, sitting quietly with her hands clasped together under her belly, supporting it. She was content. The group sitting before her was so supportive, and no doubt will they love the twins once they arrive.
Towards the end of the night, everyone started to leave, including Bella and Paul. Once they were home, Paul escorted her to the bedroom, quieter than usual.
"Paul, what's going on?" She asked, curiously.
"Well, with everything that happened, I don't want to regret not doing this sooner." He explained, pushing the bedroom door opened.
The room was dimly lit. It was a romantic setting - warm, comfortable, and cozy. There were rose petals all over the floor and bed. The curtains were opened wide, allowing the moonlight to shine through. A red, velvet duvet replaced the quilt on their shared bed, and white roses in a vase were placed on the bedside table.
"Bella..." Paul murmured, taking out a blue velveteen box from his back pocket. He bent down on one knee, grinning up at her. His eyes displayed everything he felt for her: love, adoration, admiration, and passion.
Bella finally understood what Plan R was all about.
Editor/Beta: Moriarty's Diary (Editor's Note: It's not entirely Allie's fault that these stories aren't updated as often as they should be. It's partly my fault as well, as I usually finish editing her chapters a week AFTER she's sent them to me. She always posts her chapters the day I send her the edited version. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this chapter. Send some nice reviews for us, peeps :) )
