Bella kept looking at herself in the mirror. She stood sideways, noting how round she has gotten over the past two months since she found out they were having boys. Bella hoped for two boys anyway.
Bella also saw the changes in her body since the beginning of her pregnancy. Paul told her every day that she was beautiful, but she felt like a beach whale. She was already seven months along and had problems doing regular day-to-day things like dressing up and taking a shower. Paul even had to tie her shoes every time she left the house.
Bella heard a knock on the front door. Quickly, she put on a bathrobe and shouted for Angela, who she was expecting, to come in. Angela entered the house, making her way upstairs.
Bella was happy that Embry and Angela managed to work everything out that night. Well, it took more than a month. Angela made Embry sleep in the living room for a while until she finally understood that Embry wasn't going to eat her in her sleep. Paul teased her, saying that Embry does want to eat her, but not in the way she thinks.
Angela was tolerating Paul, but Bella knew it was only because of the unborn twins.
Angela walked into the bathroom. "Bella, you're still not ready?! I told mom and dad that we'd be there at three!"
Bella sighed. "I ran into some trouble." Bella pointed to her half shaved leg.
"No, no! Bella! I love you, but this is ridiculous!" Angela strained, exasperated.
"Please, Ang, I've been trying for hours. I can't do anything with this balloon in front of me!"
"Why don't you ask the man that shoved the balloon inside you?"
"Ask the man who put that balloon on you!"
"Paul's off doing wolf things with the rest of the pack. Please? This is the only time I'll ask!" Bella pleaded, putting on her best pouty face.
"I hate shaving my own damn legs, and you're asking me to shave yours?" Angela side-eyed her, annoyed. Bella pouted. "Fine!"
"You're so sweet." Bella praised.
Angela grabbed the razor. "You owe me big time!" Bella settled into the bathtub, exposing her half-shaved leg. "You ever think we're too open with each other?"
Bella laughed. "I think we're passed that. Remember when I had to undress you and put you in the shower when you were drunk off your ass? Stupid sixteen year old."
"Oh right, I forgot about that." Angela nodded, rinsing Bella's leg. "There." She threw the razor into the tub. "I'm done. Now throw something pretty on and let's go."
Bella smiled as she watched Angela leave the room. Bella stood up, cleaning herself off with a towel. She walked into the bedroom, looking for her loose fitting green dress. Bella looked down at her belly and sighed, loudly. "I love you boys, but you're seriously limiting my wardrobe choices."
"You can always walk around naked!" Angela yelled down the hall.
Bella snorted. "Paul would just love that! Especially when the pack's here!" Bella could hear Angela's laugh echo down the hall. Bella got dressed, threw her hair in a neat ballet bun, swiped on some mascara, and decided she was ready.
Bella walked into the living area to find Angela texting away on her cell phone.
"Who are you texting?"
Angela grinned. "Embry."
"Thought they couldn't have their phones this weekend…?"
"When was the last time he ever listened to anything?" She snorted, looking up from her phone.
"True…I wish Paul took his phone."
Angela looked at Bella with a devious smile. "He left his phone here?"
"Yeah."
"Let's go through it!" She suggested.
"Already did. There's some text from some guy, that's all. Oh, and there's pictures of me sleeping." Bella said, slightly guilty for even going through Paul's phone.
"I'm finally rubbing off on you." Angela said, triumphantly.
They walked to the car and drove off. As they neared Charlie's house, Bella couldn't help but wonder what he must look like after going through chemo. She googled pictures, cringing at the loss of hair, sores around the mouth and throat. They also get very week, have bowel movement problems, and get sick afterwards.
When she talked to Mary, Charlie seemed like he was doing pretty well. He did have some pain, nausea, and vomiting, but otherwise, he was doing well. Charlie and Bella were on a civil base, and she didn't want to lose him yet. She wanted him to see her little boys all grown up. She even wanted him to walk her down the aisle on her wedding day.
The other thing that kept popping up into her mind was her wedding day. She wanted to get married before having kids, but Paul wanted to wait until after the twins arrived. Paul was definitely more laid back about things like this.
"Bella!" Angela squeaked, making her sister jump. Bella looked up at her dad's house.
"When did we get here?" Bella queried, getting out of the car. Angela followed her lead.
"Like thirty seconds ago. What were you daydreaming about?" Angela asked.
They walked to the front door. "About dad and the wedding."
"Didn't talk to him about that yet?" Angela questioned, knocking on the door.
"I already know how he feels about it. He wants the twins there for the wedding."
"Well they will be here, just in your big belly." As the door opened, Bella smacked Angela on the arm. Hard. "I was just kidding, you bitch!" Angela wailed, rubbing her arm.
"Nice to see you're both the same." Charlie greeted.
Bella smiled widely, hugging him. "Hey dad, you look good!" She commented, pulling away.
"Yeah, Charlie. I thought you would look like a decayed mummy or something."
"Angela!" Bella widened her eyes.
Charlie chortled. "Nah, don't worry about it. Remember? I'm married to her mom. I'm used to it."
They walked into the house and Bella could smell food. Apparently the babies could, too. They kicked. "I think the boys like the smell of the food!" She breathed, placing her hands on her tummy.
"There's another trait inherited by their father." Angela pointed out, sitting down.
"So I'm having two grandsons, huh?" Charlie asked.
"Yeah. At least, that's what the doctor said two months ago."
"Any names yet?" Mary inquired, walking in the living room with drinks.
Before Bella could say anything, Angela piped in. "Yes, but they won't tell anybody."
"Aw, why is that?" Mary sounded disappointed.
"Paul and I have a handful of names already pocked out, but we want to see the twins first. You know, so that we could their faces and see which name suits them best." Bella explained.
"That's what your mother and I did. We had three names picked out, but when we first saw you, none of them fit. Your mother came up with Isabella, and that fit you perfectly." Charlie smiled at the thought.
"Did you do that with me?" Angela asked her mom.
Mary laughed, taking a sip of her drink nervously. "Sure…"
"Mom?" Angela frowned.
"Look, I was young, and…"
"And what?" Angela folded her arms.
"We didn't have a name for you. So we sort of just named you after the nurse that came into the room." Mary turned pink.
"Mom!" Angela frowned. Charlie and Bella started laughing. Mary kept drinking her tea.
After Angela spent five minutes yelling at her mother, they all sat down for dinner and began discussing Charlie's last chemo session. Bella looked around the room, noticing how everyone was smiling and laughing with each other. It reminded her of those TV families that she always wanted but it was different somehow. Now she had two more members of the family coming.
As they started cleaning for dinner, Bella heard the phone go off. She walked to her bag and pulled out her cell phone, seeing Sam's name across the display screen. Her heart rate picked up. Sam never called her. And they weren't supposed to – they were supposed to be away for the weekend. Anxiously, she answered it.
"Hello?" Her voice sounded small.
"Bella? This is Sam. You need to come home now." There were odd noises in the background, and the sound of someone crying. "Paul's hurt."
