Author's Note: Hey y'all! So I realized I should probably explain the AU for this story so that it makes more sense. :) So in this story, the famous locker room scene has already happened and this takes place about 4 months after. Dave stopped bullying Kurt however after that incident and Kurt never transferred to Dalton.

Chapter 5 - Break Up

The two boys haven't said much to each other since leaving the restaurant and Dave had no clue where Kurt was headed now. He knew that Kurt wasn't heading home by the exit he took on the highway but where is he going? He wanted to ask but Kurt seemed way too focused on whatever it was that he was thinking to hear anything Dave said.

When Kurt finally stopped the car, they had arrived at a cute, but very secluded park. There was only one other car there and Dave could see the family together on the playground. When he turned back to face Kurt, he quickly saw that the other boy had started silently sobbing in his seat. Dave was mortified, what had he done?

"K-kurt? What's wrong? D-did I do something?" Kurt laughed between his broken sobs.

"No.. yes. You didn't do anything wrong, Dave. You.. you're too nice to me." What? Was Kurt serious? They couldn't be talking about the same Dave.

Before Dave could say anything, Kurt shut off the car and hopped out, leaving Dave looking dumbfounded. I guess I should follow him? Dave thought. Unbuckling his seat belt quickly, Dave hopped out and started chasing after Kurt.

"Kurt! Please talk to me!"

Kurt turned around to look at Dave with the most gut wrenching look on his face before his phone started blaring Lady Gaga and Kurt scrambled to pull his phone out. The expression on his face when he looked at the caller ID was unrecognizable. Slowly, Kurt raised the phone to his ear.

"Hello?... Nothing, I'm just hanging out with a friend… I'm not lying.. I'm not!" Who was he talking to? Is this the guy that's been hurting him? Who the hell does he think -

"What? Why? No no Blaine, don't say that. Please…" Blaine? Dave was sure he'd heard that name in passing when he'd walked past the glee club in the hallways. All he knew about the guy was that he didn't go to their school and that he was gay. What was he saying to Kurt and why did he look like his world was ending?

Blaine must have hung up on Kurt because he was just staring at his phone with tears streaming down his face. "He just broke up with me…"

Broke up? Oh. Dave's mind was racing, Kurt had a boyfriend, one who most likely was behind all the bruises on Kurt, and after an obviously heated conversation, broke up with him. He could feel the rage building in him, but he needed to control his emotions because Kurt obviously needed him right now.

He took a hesitant step toward Kurt, unsure of what kind of comfort he would accept from him, but Kurt answered his question by nearly jumping into his arms, his loud sobs breaking Dave's heart. "Hey, I've got you, I promise." Dave whispered into Kurt's hair, wrapping his arms tightly around Kurt.

He wasn't sure how long they stayed like this but it felt way too short when the smaller boy stepped back and looked up at Dave with glossy eyes. "I-I'm s-sorry." Dave just shook his head with a small smile.

He led Kurt back to the car and the two settled into their seats before Dave spoke.

"Look Kurt, you don't have to tell me but… was he the one hurting you?" The look on Kurt's face was the only answer he needed. If Dave ever saw this Blaine guy, it would take all the strength in the world to hold back from killing him.

"Listen to me Kurt, please. You never have to see this guy again. I will do anything I can to protect you from him.. If you want that." Maybe Kurt didn't want Dave's help, he didn't know for sure and it wasn't fair to make assumptions.

"I'm so scared of him Dave." Kurt's voice was barely above a whisper but Dave heard him clearly as if he had screamed it. "He.. he broke into my house last night and beat me, that's why my face is messed up.." He already knew this but it still felt like a punch in the gut to hear it confirmed like this.

"I won't let him touch you again." His voice was sharp and he meant every word. Blaine would never hurt Kurt again, not as long as he was here to stop it. Kurt looked so broken right now and he had no idea what to do. "Do you want to go home?"

Kurt shook his head so hard you'd think it was gonna fly off his body.

Okay, Dave had to think of something, anything to make this day even the tiniest bit better. He knew no one was home right now, his mom and dad both at work, but he didn't want Kurt to get the wrong idea. Still, he knew the other boy wasn't up to do anything public.

"Would you like to come over? We could watch some of those musicals you like or blast music and scream our hearts out or hell we could even just sit in silence and stare at the walls. I just really don't think you should be alone right now Kurt and it's breaking my heart to see you like this." He couldn't believe it but Kurt was actually laughing. Well, that's an improvement.

"I'd like that." Kurt was smiling lightly up at Dave and the jock's heart skipped a few beats. Even when he was broken down like this, he was still the most beautiful person Dave had ever seen.

Dave offered to drive, considering the fact that Kurt was still shaking slightly and Kurt gratefully accepted the offer. They quickly changed seats and started the drive to Dave's house. Out of the corner of his eye, Dave noticed Kurt scroll through his contacts and click on Blaine's name before scrolling further down and clicking the block button. He knew this was a big step for Kurt and he felt so proud of the smaller boy that he couldn't help the big grin that spread across his face. This was the first step to healing Kurt.

Author's Note: So Blaine broke up with Kurt and now Kurt's got a whole day free to spend with Dave, I wonder how that will work out. What will they do when they get back to Dave's house? Leave a review and let me know your thoughts! :)
