The car ride was too slow. Bella was thinking about Paul, if the damn car can go any faster. Bella didn't think that Paul could get seriously injured considering he was half werewolf, but she also forgets that he's half human, too.

Bella rubbed her baby bump softly, thinking about that phone call with Sam. After she hung up, she couldn't remember what happened, only the sound of the phone as it smacked the ground.

Angela glanced over at Bella. "Don't worry, he'll be okay."

"How do you know?" Bella croaked, looking out the window. Angela drove too slow for her liking.

"Because Paul's a fighter. And, you know, he's part werewolf," she said, looking back at the road.

It wasn't much too go off of, but Bella had to hold on. Paul did tell her once that they heal faster than humans, but then why would Sam call her in such a hurry? There was definitely more than she didn't know about.

"Bella, please stop worrying. We have another hour in this car, and I'm worried about you. Why don't you try calling Embry and see what's going on?"

"It's worse than I think…" Bella mumbled, feeling sick. She didn't know what to do without him. She finally found the one person who loved every single thing about her, and loves her stupid little quirks. They were supposed to build a family together. She was never sure about much, but she was sure that she couldn't go on without Paul.

Bella pulled out her cell phone, going through her contacts list until she saw Embry's name. She held her breath as she hit the dial button. It started ringing.

As soon as Embry picked up, she immediately heard yelling and crashing."Jared, Jacob, hold him down!" Sam was shouting.

"Hello?" Embry sounded distant.

"Embry, it's Bella–" There was even more shouting.

"Hold him down! Hold him down! Apply pressure immediately!" It was Sue.

Bella's heart stopped. Bella couldn't even speak.

"Paul, you need to stop!"

As the yelling got louder, Bella had to stray the phone away from her ear. She could still hear it all.

"You have to break it, Jake!" Sue ordered.

"Embry?" Bella finally managed to choke out.

"Sorry, we've got our hands full–" Embry was cut off by more shrieking.

"Is that Bella?" Jacob. "Give me the phone, Embry, go help them."

There was some shuffling.

"Bella? Are you okay?" Jacob's voice muffled out the other noises.

"What happened to him?" Bella asked, her throat tightening.

"Calm down, Bells, it's not as bad as it sounds."

"Tell me what happened!" Bella demanded.

"There was a leech on our land. We all went to get at it, and, well, Paul thought he could make a far jump." Jacob drew in a deep breath. "He didn't make it. He landed on the rocks below."

Bella breathing hitched. She could just picture it, except with Paul lying dead.

"Is he going to be okay?" she queried.

"Yeah, yeah, he'll be fine. He just need to take it easy for a few days. He had some broken ribs and an arm. We had to re-break a bone by the time we got back here because it was healing the way it should. It's starting to heal up already. I think his ego's hurt more than anything else," Jacob joked, making Bella smile. "He's still a big pain in the ass."

"I heard that!" Paul shouted.

"You were meant to!" Jacob shouted back. "Hey, Bella, he's in good hands. Don't get too worried or you'll upset the twins. He just needs you here."

Bella said goodbye with tears in her eyes. Bella put her phone back in her beg, quietly thanking Jacob for calming her.

"Is he going to live?"

"Yeah," Bella nodded. "Jake's got it taken care of."

"I told you he was going to be fine. Embry told me they would put their own lives on the line before they let one of their own die," Angela said.

Bella nodded. "I know, it's just, he's so far away."

"Even if you were there, you wouldn't be able to help. Comfort him, sure, but help heal? That's all on his body."

"You're right, it's just this damn imprint. Just the thought of him getting hurt hurts me. I feel like my heart's breaking sometimes," Bella bit her lower lip.

"Yeah, this imprint thing is crazy. I never knew I could feel this way. Just looking at Embry has me feeling like people in romance movies. And I wouldn't give it up for anything. Them being werewolves and this whole imprint thing – it's crazy! But it's the best thing that's happened to either of us."

Bella smiled with her sister. "How were we so lucky to find them?

"We owe Mike and a big bottle of Jack Daniels a big thanks to that." They busted out laughing.

A little while later, they pulled up onto the reservation, and drove to the medical centre. The pack was standing outside waiting for them. Embry walked up to open Angela's car door. Sam went to open Bella's, helping her out.

"I'm sorry about earlier, I shouldn't have worried you like that. Seeing him in that condition…" Sam shivered.

"It's okay, I understand."

She and Sam walked back to the rest of the pack.

"How is he doing now?" she inquired.

Sue peeped out from behind Jacob. "He's doing better now. He's sleeping. We managed to get his arm to heal in the correct position. He was asking for you."

"Am I allowed to see him?" Bella asked.

"Yes, dear. Come on, I'll show you where he is." Sue say smiling at her

They entered the medical centre, Sue by Bella's side. They stopped in front of a baby blue door, and Sue gestured for her to walk in. She left shortly after. Bella closed the door behind her, darting her eyes to her sleeping lover.

Compared to the bed, Paul's body was massive. His arm and chest was wrapped in gauze, and Bella could see the faintest of reds soaking through. Bella sauntered over to his side, looking down.

Bella's hands started to shake as he took his in hers. She stared at their intertwined fingers, feeling the slightest twitch against her fingers. She looked up at Paul, who was looking right back at her.
