Chapter 6 - Guys and Dolls
The drive back to Dave's house was met with awkward silence. Neither boy knew how to approach the other; Kurt was embarrassed about his emotional breakdown and Dave was too worried about scaring the other boy off. The silence was only interrupted once by Dave's phone going off, and his heart broke to see Kurt flinch at the sound. It was nothing important, just his mom calling him to let him know that his sister's flight was coming in tonight.
Dave hadn't seen his sister in over six months and he was more than excited for the reunion, but also nervous as hell for his eventual coming out to her. He figured he would wait until the last day she was here in case her reaction was on the more negative side.
Dave ran his hand though his short hair and sighed, life felt like it was moving way too fast all of a sudden. A week ago, Dave was just a jock, now, he wasn't so sure what all he was.
He didn't have much time to think about this as he had finally made it home. He parked the car on the street in front of the house and quickly undid his seatbelt. Without saying a word, Dave also undid Kurt's seatbelt, much to the smaller boys surprise and gave Kurt a quick wink before hopping out of the car altogether. He slowly made his way around to Kurt's side and closed the door for him once he'd grabbed his messenger bag.
"Ready to go inside?" Dave's heart was nearly pounding out of his chest. Kurt was going to be home alone with him in his house. If it wasn't for how obviously upset Kurt still was, Dave would have allowed himself to have those much dirtier thoughts about what they could be doing in that house. As much as Dave was a teenage boy, he still had a bit of common sense.
They walked together up to the front door, with Kurt standing a bit further from Dave than he had been all morning and Dave would be lying if he said it didn't upset him at all.
Once they were inside, things seemed to turn for the better. Kurt was staring at Dave's living room in awe. Dave was loaded, what the hell? Dave laughed at the expression on Kurt's face before gently nudging the smaller boy into the actual living room.
"I didn't know you had money Dave." Kurt couldn't help himself from doing a complete 360° and stopping to gape at the tv literally imbedded in the wall. That TV was massive! Suddenly, Kurt started to feel a little insecure about his own home life. He wasn't what he would consider poor but they certainly never had enough money to even look at some of the things Dave owned.
"Correction, my parents have money." Dave smiled lightly at Kurt before heading over to the DVD shelf. It was made of black colored wood and stood nearly 10 feet.
"What do they do for a living?" Rob banks?
"Both my mother and father are lawyers." Oh.
Kurt was thinking of a reply when he noticed Dave start picking out DVD's and he was interested to see what Dave was choosing.
"Alright! So we've got Les Misérables, Phantom of the Opera, Hairspray, and Annie. Oh! We've also got West Side Story and Guys and Dolls if you prefer something older." Dave was smiling at him and Kurt couldn't help but notice how good he looked when he smiled.
"I didn't realize you watched musicals Dave." Dave actually started blushing at that.
"My sister is pretty big into them.." Kurt simply nodded so as not to embarrass Dave who obviously enjoyed musicals at least a little bit.
"Hmm okay well I choose… Guys and Dolls."
To Kurt's surprise Dave knew every song and sang along softly to them. At one point during the movie their hands accidentally touched but neither boy pulled away and by the end they were actively holding hands. Kurt hadn't been this relaxed in such a long time and as much as he hated it, he knew he'd have to leave at some point. The last thing he wanted to do was become a burden on Dave.
"This was really fun Dave, thank you." Kurt was smiling up at Dave who had walked him to the front door. "I really appreciate everything you've done for me.. more than you know."
"I had a lot of fun too Kurt. We should uh.. do this again." I'd love that, Kurt thought.
"We definitely will." Just before Kurt walked out the door, he turned back around to Dave and quickly leaned up and placed the lightest kiss on Dave's cheek that the jock could've sworn he'd imagined it if it wasn't for the blush on Kurt's cheeks when he pulled back.
"I'll see you later Dave."
