In the morning, Bella woke up to find that Paul was still sleeping like a baby. She smiled, thanking god that he was going to be alright.
Bella sat upright, her feet touching the cold floor. She carefully pushed herself onto her feet, the bed creaking. She looked back at Paul to find that he was awake.
"Where are you going?" he asked, still sleepy.
He sounded sexy while groggy. Perhaps the morning could have started differently if she didn't get up. Would Bella still love his sexy voice, or will she love his after sex hair even more? Would they talk about the night before? Or would they go for round two?
"I'm just going to the bathroom, and checking to see when you can come home."
He nodded. "Can I have a kiss first?" he asked softly.
Bella leaned over the bed, giving him a sweet kiss on his lips. He wrapped his arms around her, deepening the kiss. She brought her arms up so that they rested on either side of his head. She opened her mouth a little, allowing Paul's tongue to enter. Bella let out a small moan, nearly falling onto the bed.
They kept going at it, kissing each other, letting everything sink in. Every kiss, every touch, just staying in the moment. They both knew how lucky Paul was to be okay. Paul would never say that he was scared, not even when he was laying on the ground, bleeding. He wouldn't admit that he was scared that he'd never see the birth of his boys, or be able to kiss Bella again.
Paul sighed, pulling away from the kiss. He tried to pull her back for more, his wolf needed her.
"Paul, we need to stop. You know I'm like putty in your hands."
"Then don't stop."
"Paul, you need to rest. I'm not going to have sex in a hospital bed," Bella said, standing upright.
Paul groaned. "Said the girl who had wild sex in my office."
Bella grinned. "If I remember it correctly, I was smaller, and no one was able to walk in on us."
"That's half the fun"
Bella rolled her eyes, walking out of the room. She went to find Sue at the desk going through some papers. She looked up at Bella.
"Hey, sweetie, how's Paul doing?"
"Oh, he's good as new," Bella laughed.
"That's good. I'll check in on him again then I'll have Sam and someone else bring him home for you."
"Thank you. Um, also, I have another question: do you know a good place to buy baby books?"
Sue smiled, nodding, hand reaching under her desk. She lifted up a disposable shopping bag full of information on babies, children, and adolescents.
"I stopped by the store this morning and picked up a few for you already. I also threw some of my own in there."
Bella reached out for the bag. "You didn't have to do that, Sue."
"I could tell you were nervous, hun. It's okay."
Bella felt grateful. "I'm glad you said something. I didn't really have a mother to go to. I mean, I have a step mom, but she's not the best to go to with this kind of thing."
Mary was a good person, but as a mother, she wasn't. She acted more like a best friend to her and Angela. If Bella needed to ask advice about partying, drinking, boys, or what to wear, Mary was her go-to person.
"You can come to me anytime, sweetie." Sue stood up to give Bella a hug, which she returned.
Later that day, Sue gave Paul the okay to go home. Sam and Jake helped Bella bring him home. Paul kept saying he was fine and that he can do it on his own, but Bella was adamant. When they were home, Sam and Jake helped him to bed.
After a few minutes, Sam and Jake left, laughing at Paul. Paul gave them the bird before looking at Bella.
"Really, babe? Bed rest?" Paul groaned for the second time that day. "I think I'll be okay moving around in the house."
"Sue said you need one more full day of rest, then we'll see," Bella crossed her arms. She means business.
"God, woman, you're lucky I love you," Bella grinned at that, knowing she won this fight. "So, what the fuck am I going to do all day?" he asked, winking.
Bella knew he wanted to pick up where they left off. Bella raised the bag of books that Sue gave her and dumped them on the bed.
"Read."
"You're really trying to kill me, aren't you?" he looked at the books distastefully.
Bella rolled her eyes as she sat on the bed. "We need to read up."
"There's like twenty books here!"
"There's only ten here, and we need to know everything that might happen. Don't you know there are a lot of things that can go wrong with having twins?"
"No, but, babe, reading all of this shit is not going to stop it from happening," he picked up a book, looking it over.
"I know that, but it will help us get ready in case it does."
Paul dropped the book that he was looking at. "If. If something does doesn't mean it will. And if it does, we have people people here that can help us." Paul stared at Bella, knowing that she was going to freak out. "Babe, look, I'm scared about everything, too. I never knew much about my mom or dad, and I had no one to look up to. These books are only going to do so much. We just have to live and learn as we go. We have friends and family that have kids, and they will be more than willing to help."
"I know, but I want to make sure that I won't mess up," Bella pressed her lips together, a little indent between her eyebrows forming. She was worried.
Paul sighed as Bella climbed onto the bed and into his arms. "Babies are a part of life. Everyone messes up here and there, but the real test is what you make of the mess. Look at last night; I messed up bad, and I almost lost my life, but do you want to know how I go through it?"
"How?" Bella looked up at him.
"Sheer will. I had people who were careful and people who were there to help. They knew what they were doing. When I fell, I thought I was done for. I thought I'd never see you again. I thought I'd never see my boys all grown up."
Bella pressed her lips to his neck. "I love you."
"I love you, too. Death can take me because I promised you that I'll always be here for you, okay?" Bella nodded her head. "We all make mistakes, babe. I'll be right there next to you."
Later that night, Paul finally broke Bella down into letting him sit outside to eat dinner. Paul was holding Bella in his arms after, talking about the future.
"You know, are we telling everyone fake names for the boys, or are we just not going to say anything yet?" Bella asked.
"Yeah."
"I think I have a few names," Bella said.
"Okay, shoot."
"Well, I was thinking we'd name one Jackson, and call him Jack for short."
Paul looked confused. "Why Jackson?"
"Well, if it weren't for Jack and Coke, we wouldn't be here," Bella grinned, teasingly. Paul laughed.
"Okay, so baby number one is Jackson Michael Lahote."
"Michael?"
"Yeah, if it weren't for you ex boyfriend, you would have never been in that bar drinking Jack and Coke."
Bella burst with laughter. It was true. The names had silly meanings, but they were beautiful meanings.
"Daxton James Lahote? I found the name in a book I read, and the character reminded me of what I think our little ones will look like."
"What was he like? Like, in the book? He wasn't a pussy, was he?"
Bella smiled. "No, he was smart, brave, sweet, and didn't care what people thought of him."
"I guess that's not too bad," Paul put his hand on her belly. "Hello, Jackson and Daxton."
Bell hid her smile, looking down at his hand.
"Do you want to keep the names from everyone?" Paul asked.
Bella was about to open her mouth.
"Too late for that, bro," Jared yelled from the woods.
"Fucking wolf senses." Bella cursed under her breath.
