Author's Note: Hello, my first a/n! Thank you to my readers. I want to address something. I know I said I wouldn't reference anything from season four, but I had to use Shadowmoth (hawkmoth using the peacock miraculous) because I like the character so much. I also know that this chapter is short, but I feel that if I add any more I would ruin the flow of my plan. I also wanted to say that I plan to post a chapter every day or two, but that may vary depending on my work schedule and how intense my school load is (I am taking college classes over the summer). Enjoy the chapter :)

"Luka, look, I can explain!" Marinette cried out to her beloved, with him walking away.

"There is no need to explain. You obviously are more than friends with Adrien. It is clear you are still in love with him… and he is in love with you too." Luka sighed, turning away from Marinette to avoid her eyes filled with tears. "You love him, you just haven't realized it yet. I don't want to wait anymore. Even with you being my girlfriend your eyes still dart towards him." Luka's eyes were filled with hurt and anger. "You spent your WHOLE SUMMER with him, for him. Open your eyes."

"Luka, I -" She reached out, too late. The boy walked away from the school's doorstep, leaving her alone and covered in tears. Adrien witnessed everything. He didn't know what to do. One of his best friends just got broken up with on the first day of school, in front of everyone. Adrien, acting on instincts, ran towards his friend and sat down with her. "Adrien - I"

He shushed her, patted her head, and laid it on his lap. "It will be okay, I promise," he said, stroking her hair. He sat with her on the steps for as long as she needed, hearing a quiet sob from her on occasion. Adrien gave the death stare to anyone who dared to look at her. He would make sure no one interrupted her or judged her. Many people approached them, but Adrien's eyes screamed GO AWAY, even warding off Alya.

Marinette's sobs subsided, and she sat up from her previous position. "I am so sorry that you had to witness that. Luka said he wanted to meet before school but I pushed him away and left. He was apparently very determined to have this conversation." She wiped her eyes, smearing her makeup more, but Adrien still looked at her adoringly.

"Marinette, I want you to know that I am here for you." He smiled at his friend. They broke up because of me... because Luka thought Marinette and I were in love. Adrien felt heat spread across his cheeks.

"I should go fix my face," Marinette said, standing up.

"You look beautiful just the way you are Marinette." Adrien got up with her and held her hand. "What Luka said, was it true?"

"I- I don't know, may-" Marinette's sentence was interrupted by Adrien's lips interlocking with hers. Her face turned beet red. She leaned into the kiss, answering his question. The two were meant for one another.

Adrien woke with a sweat. "Was that real Plagg?"

"Was what real?" Plagg asked, half awake.

"Did I kiss Marinette?"

"Pigtails, goodness no. At least I hope not, she is with a guitar boy, remember? You're not being pigtails' side piece are you?" The creature eyed Adrien.

"No - no. It was just a dream then. Luka and Marinette broke up, and I -"

"You kissed pigtails, yadda yadda, we don't need the details." Plagg flew in front of Adrien's chest. "You know what this means right?"

Adrien shook his head in confusion. It was just a dream.

"You… love…"

"I love…?" Adrien asked, confused.

Plagg smacked him on the head. "YOU LOVE PIGTAILS!"

"I - I what…" Adrien looked at his kwami with wide eyes. "I love Marinette?" It felt surreal to say it out loud, but it felt right. "I love Marinette," the blond said again, with more confidence. "I love Marinette… a girl with a boyfriend." The reality set in for Adrien, and his kwami just stared at him as if he was dumb. "Plagg, Claws Out!"

Chat Noir knew that tonight was Ladybug's patrol tonight, and he needed someone impartial to talk to. He couldn't talk to Nino, for many reasons. Alya was not an option, she was way too biased. Marinette, well that is obvious. He found his lady sitting on a rooftop, twirling her yoyo. "Hey m'lady," he said, grabbing her hand and kissing it. "How is your boo?"

"My boo is fine, kitty, you still have no chance." She said, scratching under his chin.

"I am actually fine with that," he said, surprising his partner, "because I think I like someone, a lot, and I know I shouldn't, but…" He looked out at the stars. It was a bittersweet feeling. He had finally found someone to fill the hole in his heart that he saved for Ladybug, but she was also unobtainable.

"Why shouldn't you love her?" Ladybug asked.

"Because she has a boyfriend. No, I am not talking about you."

"Oh… Well you never know, maybe things will end, or you will find someone better."

"The only person better than her is you.."

The two sat in silence, watching cars and passerbys be illuminated by the street lights. "Well, you obviously came here to talk about it. So tell me, what is she like? What made you realize that you love her?"

"I had a dream. That she broke up with her boyfriend. It was really dramatic. He told her that he knew she was in love with me, and he couldn't date her anymore. He said that he knew we were in love. I- I comforted her, and then we confessed our love to each other by a kiss." He had a smile plastered on his face. "She has dark silky hair, always in pigtails, although I have seen her with her hair down, which I prefer. She has the most beautiful bluebell eyes, and her laugh is contagious. I think I have been in love with her for a long time, and I am just now realizing it."

"So the dream boyfriend made you realize you are in love with a girl who is taken? Ouch." Ladybug looked out to the sky. Chat seemed to have a type, dark hair and blue eyes. She was really tempted to ask the name of the girl, curious to know it. She didn't ask, however, because doing so could jeopardize their iden-

Ladybug's thoughts were interrupted by Chat going on about the girl, with a sentence standing out to her. "Her name, Marinette." Ladybug froze, surely he was talking about another dark-haired blue-eyed Marinette.

"Her n-name?" She was paralyzed.

Chat looked like a lovesick puppy. "Marinette, Marinette Dupain-Cheng."
