Arturo is the man.

I talked to him for an hour or so today about guns and their availability in the Commonwealth. After he warmed up to me, he admitted that he doesn't show every one everything. He pulled out a .44 Bull Barrel S&W and told me it could be mine for 600 caps. I looked at my pittance of wealth and he offered to hold it for me until I could afford it. The deal we finally worked out was the pistol and 150 rounds for 800 caps. I am sitting on about 400, but I also have a job that is going to put another 600 in my pocket within 24 hours.

As luck would have it, right next door to Arturo a psycho named Moe sells custom baseball bats he calls "swatters." Honestly, the violence that his little modified creations could create is almost poetic... Moe has an interesting take on baseball in which instead of the American past-time I remember, it has turned into a bloodsport. I tried to explain to him what baseball really was and that was just a waste of time. He did, however, inform me that he had a job for me if I wanted it. Apparently some rich guy from my time period had been an avid collector of baseball paraphernalia and had accumulated a sweet little collection that rumors placed to still be in existence nearby. I am not sure who, or what, Moe's sources are, but he has offered me 200 caps for each of the three items he is wanting. That would put me over the top with change left over for the S&W, so I know what I will be doing tomorrow.

Talked with the reporter, Piper, today as well. She asked if I would do an interview about vault life, but when I explained to her my situation, instead of backing down, she found a whole new angle. I did the interview because she seems like a good person and, being a reporter, a good source for intel. She let me know about a place that is available in DC and that I needed to talk to Geneva, the mayor's secretary if I was interested. She surprised me when she offered to come along with me in my effort to find Shaun. I turned her down. She seems like a good person with a good heart. While I doubt that anyone in the wasteland is innocent by the standards of 200 years ago, she is the closest thing to innocent I have met so far. She isn't naïve, but her heart is too good to come with me right now. The things that I am going to need to do are not things I would want her to see. She is a person that could be a friend, and I don't want to taint her. Well, that and she is hung up on some conspiracy theory about something she called "The Institute" and their synths. I think about 90% of what she is saying is pretty much tin foil hat territory. but I am not even going to start that argument... She told me that my best bet to find a place to start looking would be Valentine's Detective Agency, but to her knowledge, Valentine was out of town right now, giving me a few days to make a plan and gather a few things.

I spoke with the mayor's secretary, Geneva, today as well. She showed me the place in DS, and I think I am going to start collecting caps to buy it. This is a central location for pretty much everything I need to do and everywhere I might need to go and I need to set up a base of operations... She pointed me towards a board with wanted posters on it and that looks like a good place to start grabbing those extra caps I am going to be needing.

The first job available is to clear out raiders from an old transit station. The reward offered is 600 caps. I figure a few of those, and I have My own space.
