A/N I am saddened by the death of Sabine's Voice Actor, Philece Sampler. She also voiced Ms. Mendeleiv. May the woman who influenced my childhood with her voice rest in peace. I also want to say that this is a very short chapter, and I apologize. I will post another one tomorrow. I know what I want to write, but I like cliffhangers so... :3

"But in time I would consider one with you," Adrien placed his phone down, "this is, better than I thought Plagg."

"So pigtails half rejected you?"

"She didn't reject me at all Plagg, she just…" Adrien sat staring at the ceiling, his heart pounding in his chest, "wants to wait." I have a chance with Marinette…

Adrien finished his day with a smile plastered on his face. He regretted his actions but was glad he did them now. Adrien was glad to have his phone back. He may not be allowed to hang out with his friends, but he was happy to be able to video chat and text them.

Marinette awoke to the sound of her alarm. It is already time for school? She turned it off and got dressed. She went downstairs to find her mom had prepared breakfast for her.

"You excited for this school year, dear?" Sabine asked, pouring a glass of orange juice for Marinette.

"Yeah, I actually think I am going to be on time! I am trying to be more punctual this year," Marinette went to grab her orange juice but instead knocked it over. Sabine shook her head and went to get a towel to clean it up, "sorry.."

Marinette finished eating and grabbed her bag, "I am off to school." She waved at her mom and rushed downstairs and out of the bakery. A short walk later and Marinette was at school, and for the first time was there before Alya. She sat on the steps and looked out at the streets of Paris. She saw a familiar car pull up, and out came Adrien, Marinette's heart skipping a beat when she saw him. She really hadn't talked to him directly, just occasionally responding in the group chat they were both in. He saw her and waved. A crimson color appearing on both their faces.

"Boo!" Marinette felt hands touch her head, causing her to jump. She looked back and saw Alya, "what's up girl?"

"Alya, you scared me," Marinette said, standing up.

"Just surprised you're here before me. Had to take the opportunity that you presented me with," Alya shrugged. "So how is it with Adrien," she said with a teasing tone.

"I haven't said anything yet," she was quiet, "it is weird knowing that he knows…"

"Girl, you had a crush on this boy for a year, and I know the whole Luka situation ruined everything, but I better not hear you complain that he told you he likes you and is willing to wait for you," Alya said, nudging her, "I put up with too much stammering to have it backfire."

Marinette waved off Alya's remarks, even though she was right. I am lucky to have Alya as a friend. Adrien took a detour to see Nino, but b-lined towards Marinette once their greeting was over, her heart raced at his approach. Alya sidestepped Marinette, far enough to make the conversation 'private' but close enough that she could eavesdrop.

Adrien pulled Marinette into an embrace, "I will wait, as long as you need." Marinette's face was redder than it had ever been before. Adrien still had his hands tightly wrapped around her. He eventually let go, patting her on the head as he left outside. Alya stared at Marinette, who was trying to compose herself.

"Girl, are you okay?" Alya said, waving her hand in front of Marinette's face. Marinette nodded, and headed inside, with the assistance of Alya.

The day had been going great. Adrien was relieved to finally be able to see his friends again, and have a reason for his father to not schedule endless photoshoots. However, he couldn't help but stare at Marinette, who he finally saw as more than a friend. He knew he would wait forever, but wished that she was ready every time he caught sight of her. School was over, and Adrien headed over to his locker, hearing a commotion. That voice… it is Lila's.

Adrien closed his locker to see Lila talking to some classmates, "yeah, I swear she cheated on him. I saw everything. Those articles are wrong, but not totally," she said, confidence in her voice, "it was with someone else. I don't know his name because I don't get involved in that kind of drama. I think that Marinette is using Adrien as a scapegoat, making him seem like the enemy."

Adrien was about to say something when he saw a red-faced Marinette stomp towards the brunette, her mouth open as if she was going to say something, but Lila didn't let her. "Oh, there she is now. You going to lie and say you didn't cheat on Luka?" Lila scoffed, "I talked to him, I have the texts to prove it." She pulled out her phone with messages from 'Luka', as if it was really him, describing how Marinette cheated on him.

The class gasped, staring at Marinette. This isn't good, no one from our class is here, it is all people who don't know Marinette, who would believe Lila. "Those are fakes Lila," Marinette said, fury in her voice, "I would never cheat on anyone." Lila rolled her eyes at Marinette.

Marinette's face was filled with fury. These strangers, these new students, all thought Marinette was a cheater, a person to distrust. Is she really doing this again? She is trying to lie about Marinette, but for what reason? Adrien walked towards Marinette to comfort her when he saw a black butterfly fly through a window.

Adrien watched as the akuma flew towards Marinette. I have to stop it… He was surrounded by people, he couldn't transform into Chat Noir. He watched in horror as Marinette's face darkened, her expression of anger deepening into something more sinister. "Marinette calm your emotions!" He yelled, but it was no use. I have to hurry… Adrien ran swiftly towards Marinette, who was visibly struggling against the akuma, and grabbed her earrings.

"Adrien, run!" Marinette yelled as a black mist covered her body. Adrien bolted, holding the earrings in his hand. I barely got them in time.
