A/N I wanna say I am terrible at writing super mushy stuff. I tried. Enjoy :3
Adrien came home, his face beaming. I wish I could've stayed there forever, but I need to be home on time. "Hey, Nathalie!" The boy said, waving.
"Adrien, why did you walk home? Your father wants you to ride home with your bodyguard. You know that is the only reason he allows you to go to school," Nathalie said.
"Nathalie, I do not care," Adrien responded. He noticed Nathalie's face was astonished, her eyes wide. He went into his room and started to practice piano. An hour later he heard a knock at his door. He sighed, "come in."
Nathalie stepped in, only a foot into his room. "Adrien, I do not know what has gotten into you, but you cannot talk to me that way. Your father -" she was interrupted by Adrien.
"Nathalie, I respect you, okay? I do not respect my father," Adrien turned towards her, "I am sorry for my attitude earlier. I know he has been nicer to me recently, but he has shut me out again. He only sees me when it is convenient for him." Nathalie stood in silence, listening to him for once, "I also want to inform you that as of today, I am dating my classmate. The one with all the drama. Father will not be pleased."
"What's her name again?" Nathalie took out her tablet.
"Her name? Really, Nathalie, you don't remember? It was only a few weeks ago," Adrien huffed, "it is Marinette," he stared at her, she still wasn't registering it, "Marinette Dupain-Cheng. The baker."
"Ah. That one," Nathalie said, scrolling somewhere. "This one?" she asked, pulling up a photo of Marinette.
"Nathalie… why do you have a photo of her?"
"I have a photo and information about every one of your classmates," she said, nonchalantly. That doesn't make it any less creepy. "Do you want me to notify your father?"
"He is going to find out one way or another, so yes. I do not care what the dumb magazines are going to say, it's not like they will say anything that hasn't been said already." Nathalie nodded and walked out. A few seconds later she popped back in again, "Adrien, I will make sure to move some stuff around in your schedule so you can see her," she said with a wink. I like this new Nathalie.
Marinette transformed and jumped off her balcony. She found a good corner and detransformed near the school, and went to her locker to retrieve her items. The room was empty. She felt a twinge in her heart. I let my emotions get the best of me.
She returned home to find her parents waiting for her. "Oh, we heard the news!" Tom exclaimed, wrapping his arms around his daughter, "Are you okay?"
"I am fine papa, it won't happen again," she wriggled out of her father's grasp. "I do have some news though…" a blush crept across her face.
"News besides being akumatized?" Sabine had a puzzled look across her face.
"Yeah um, besides that. I uh - am dating someone now."
"ADRIEN?" The two exclaimed.
Wow, am I that predictable. She laughed nervously as her dad scooped her up. "I knew it!" Tom put her down, "if he dares to hurt you like Luka, I will -" Sabine interrupted the man.
"I am glad sweetie," Sabine said, whispering in her ear, "I like Adrien better than Luka anyway."
Marinette dashed upstairs and opened her phone to find that she had a lot of texts from Alya. They were mainly updates about how Chat Noir was fighting her as a villain. Marinette dialed Alya.
"Hey Girl! I see that you've been deakumatized. Welcome to the 'victim of Hawkmoth' club."
"Yeah, thanks, Alya. It was all because of Lila. She lied and said that I was cheating on Luka," she said with disdain.
"Girl I am so sorry! I know you would never do that."
"In other knew," Marinette said with a more upbeat tone, "I may or may not have told Adrien that I am done waiting…" Marinette had to pull the phone away from her ear as Alya screeched, "and we may have kissed." Another scream was heard from her phone.
"FINALLY!"
Adrien convinced his bodyguard to drop him off at Marinette's so he could walk her home. He walked into the bakery to be immediately greeted by Tom with a handshake. His grip is very tight. "Don't you hurt her, got it?" Adrien gulped and nodded.
Marinette appeared, "don't scare him away Papa." Adrien extended his hand, and she grabbed it gleefully. A short walk later they were at the school. Marinette was nervous, he could tell. She is probably worried about Lila's rumor…
"Are you worried about what people are going to say? If you want to wait a bit before we let everyone know then I will be okay with that."
Marinette smiled weakly, "I know it isn't true, you know it isn't true… our classmates know it isn't true. Rumors will spread no matter when we tell people. I'll just deal with it." Marinette breathed in. Adrien let go of her hand and instead wrapped his arm around her shoulder.
Adrien didn't notice people staring or whispering, this is okay so far. Nino waved to him, so he unwrapped his arm and went over to him. They talked, but Adrien kept his eyes glued on Marinette. He was worried about her. She was in a group with her girlfriends, they all looked ecstatic. They're probably talking about me.
Alya went up to Nino and they left to go to the classroom. Marinette came a few moments later and Adrien looped his arm through hers. When they got there they heard a scoff from Chloe. "So you really are with that," she eyed Marinette up and down, "ridiculous. She is creating drama in your life that you do not need."
"Chloe, Marinette has created no drama. She has just been a victim of useless drama. If you want to stay my friend, you need to at least try to be nice to my girlfriend." Chloe scoffed and waved the two away. Adrien and Marinette took their respective seats and sat through class.
When class ended, Marinette was faced with the looks of her peers. Sure, the people in her class knew her, and they were sure that Marinette would never cheat, but the others, were all strangers. Marinette was conflicted, she was finally dating the boy of her dreams. She had someone with who she could share the entirety of her life, superhero or not, yet she also wished that it was different. Marinette had known from the start that dating someone like Adrien would mean being in the spotlight, at least to an extent, but she never expected her name to be associated with such scandals. She thought that at least at school she would be free from the judgemental eyes of strangers, yet Lila Rossi ensured that would not happen. Adrien was trying his best to assure her that people weren't judging her, but she knew better.
Nathalie opened his schedule up enough that he could 'do homework' with Marinette. Adrien told Marinette that Nathalie was trying to find the best time to tell his father. Apparently, Gabriel had been really stressed because his business plans were not working out, and Nathalie decided that telling him about his son's new controversial girlfriend was not the best move at the time. For now, the two were not together in Gabriel's mind.
The two arrived at Marinette's house and finished their homework quickly, leaving an hour for them to actually hang out. They sat in Marinette's living room and played a few video games, Marinette winning every single time. "C'mon!" Adrien wined, "can't you at least pretend to lose?"
Marinette laughed, "as if. I will always win." She grabbed the remote and put on a movie. The two sat next to one another. He likes me, I know that… she looked over at him, he was mesmerized by the movie. Why am I so nervous to do anything then… Her heart was beating fast. He is my boyfriend this is normal… I could do this when I was with Luka… so why not Adrien… As if reading her mind, Adrien shifted his body on the couch and motioned her to lay on his chest. Marinette rested her head on his chest, and he rested his chin on her head. She laid staring at the TV but mainly kept listening to his heartbeat. This just feels surreal… this feels so different to Luka.
Adrien didn't seem fazed. Marinette was constantly nervous and afraid to do anything, yet he was so composed… how?
Adrien was freaking out. He had never had a girlfriend, yet here he was, on a couch with his girlfriend. I do not know what I am doing...His heart was about to fall out of his chest. She knows what she is doing, she dated Luka for months… He was afraid to move. The fact that he was even able to breathe at this point astonished him. Marinette seemed so calm. They sat in silence for ages, but Adrien didn't complain. He enjoyed having her close to him, he also wasn't sure how he was supposed to get up. The movie was entertaining enough, but could not distract him from the internal panic in his head. I wish I asked Nino what to do…
The movie ended, and then the two were left with a 'play next' screen. Marinette sat up, grabbed the remote, and turned off the TV. "I guess it is time for me to go," Adrien chuckled nervously, "it was nice to hang out with you though."
"It was. I hope that we can eventually hang out at your house one day, that is if your dad doesn't ground you forever first," Marinette laughed.
"Yeah," he chuckled nervously. Do I kiss her goodbye? Do I do that? He stared at her. The two standing and facing one another. She is beautiful… All of a sudden Adrien's vision was obscured by a dark black figure. Plagg…
"So, you going to stare at pigtails all day? If you're not going to kiss her any time soon then at least give me some cheese…" the black creature said with a whine.
"Plagg, can we make it a rule that you're not allowed to interrupt us?" Adrien said, opening his shirt pocket for the creature to fly into. Adrien was left once again to stare at Marinette, who seemed to be as shaken up like him. Why was this so easy on the balcony but not now… Adrien stepped more towards Marinette and grabbed her chin. He then leaned into a kiss in which she returned, wrapping her hands around his head.
"Goodbye, Marinette," he waved. Once he was nearly out the door, he said "I will see you later m'lady."
