Nathalie knocked on Adrien's door. What? Did my alarm not go off? Adrien sat up, no… it is still dark outside… He looked at the clock beside his bed, 12:00 am… "Adrien, I have informed your father of your relationship. He was in a better mood today because he thinks he found a solution to the problem he has been having. He… took it… okay," Nathalie sighed. "I know you want to go and defy your father… but I think it is in your best interest to at least feign respect for him, okay? I want to see you happy," Nathalie closed the door to his room and he listened as her footsteps faded away. I am so confused… Nathalie is - helping me.
Adrien shut his eyes but was awakened by someone shaking him, "Adrien, Adrien…" He opened his eyes to... Marinette? "Adrien, I have to renounce the miracle box." What… how did she get in here? Her eyes were filled with tears, "I am sorry…" she was holding the box in her hands, "I- Marinette Dupain-Cheng renounce ownership of the miracle box and pronounce the new owner Adrien Agreste." WHAT?
"Wait Marinette what are you doing? What happened?" Adrien asked, sitting up now. He grabbed her by the shoulders, she was not responding.
"Who are you?" No, no no no no no no…
"I am Adrien, your boyfriend. Don't you remember me?" His voice cracked. What just happened? She didn't even explain anything. I don't know what I am doing…
"No. I don't remember you," she jerked her shoulders away from his grasp, "stop touching me you weirdo." Marinette started to walk away.
"Marinette, wait!" What do I do?
"I don't care if you think you're my boyfriend. I am going home." He tried to stop her, but it was too late, she was gone. She can't really be gone, can she… Adrien grabbed his phone and dialed it.
Marinette woke up to the sound of her phone ringing. She rolled over and with blurry eyes, she saw that the call was from Adrien. "Adrien? Why are you calling? It is so late," Adrien was hysterical, his voice cracking and his words jumbling. Marinette could barely make out what he was saying, "Adrien, what?"
"I do not want you dating my son, you hear me?" Gabriel Agreste? Marinette saw the fashion designer at the foot of her bed, staring up at her. "Adrien is forbidden to see you, if you try and see him I will ruin his life. He will learn to resent you."
This has got to be a nightmare right… A NIGHTMARE. "Adrien is too good for you. You're just a baker's daughter. He doesn't love you. He is just using you to get back at me." Yeah, Gabriel would never talk like that. Marinette climbed onto her balcony and dialed Adrien once again.
"Hello, Adrien. It is sandboy. Whatever happened, it isn't real. Calm down." Adrien was still hysterical but eventually was able to make coherent sentences. "I am going to try and find where the villain is. Meet me whenever you can." Marinette transformed into Ladybug and lept across the streets of Paris. A few blocks down she finally spotted sandboy, who looked identical to the time before… Why is he using the same villain again?
Ladybug sent her location to Chat Noir and prepared for a battle with a very familiar villain. I just have to break his pillow. "I am not afraid of you!"
Sandboy chucked and launched his sand bombs, nearly hitting Ladybug. I don't want to lose my powers again… my greatest nightmare… Ladybug's eyes widened. My greatest nightmare isn't losing my powers… it's… all of a sudden sand surrounded her…
Chat Noir was so relieved. It was just a nightmare, she hasn't forgotten me… yet… He arrived at the scene, and saw Ladybug covered in his magical sand, she doesn't have her powers now. "Hello, m'lady," what? That is my line. He looked out and saw… himself? Yet he was white, and his eyes were a cold icy blue. He saw Ladybug's eyes widen, tears welling in her eyes. She started backing up, repeating 'no' over and over. Who is that? Chat carefully moved towards Ladybug, assessing the situation.
"We have a second chance. Our love can conquer the world," Chat Blanc said, his eyes looked empty, dead, and evil. This is some weird nightmare.
Ladybug ran, far. Chat had trouble keeping up with her. Chat Blanc followed behind. It is nearly impossible to lose him… what is she doing? Ladybug summoned her lucky charm and studied it. It is a mini wooden turtle… She opened her yoyo and pulled out the turtle miraculous, and turned to Chat Noir. "Get Nino, I need him."
Chat grabbed the turtle miraculous and quickly went to Nino's home. He opened the window and startled him. "Nino, we need you. No time to explain. I do not know what is happening but the lucky charm said you are necessary for our success." Nino nodded and took the miraculous and transformed into Carapace.
The two headed back to the battle, and Ladybug was still running. Who is this imposter and why isn't she trying to fight him? Chat Noir and Carapace joined her and followed her as she jumped into the sewer. "M'lady, who is that."
"Chat Blanc - he existed in a different timeline where... " Ladybug winced, "where hawkmoth found out who we were… and he akumatized you - you were given the infinite power of destruction and you sorta almost destroyed the whole world." Excuse me, I did what. "There is no time to chitchat. I think it is in our best effort to ignore Chat Blanc and try and destroy sandboy's pillow. Carapace, I need you to protect Chat Blanc."
"What? Isn't he the dude we are trying to defeat?" Carapace questioned.
"Yes, but I need him to be trapped, and your shellter can probably hold off a few of his blasts. Chat, I need you to cataclysm the pillow, as swiftly and as quickly as possible. Chat Blanc's powers are worrisome. Try to not get hit with the sand, we don't need another evil me." The group came out of the sewer and ran back to sandboy.
The villain went straight to blasting sand at the superheroes, but luckily they dogged. Chat Blanc wasn't slow to show up, however, and made things complicated. Carapace was stalking him, waiting for the right time to protect him, he had to hold off doing it as long as possible so that he could protect the nightmare for as long as possible. Chat Noir ran straight for sandboy, vaulting behind, attempting to get as close as possible before igniting his cataclym. I cannot miss it. The villain made a swift turn, and sand covered Chat Noir.
Ladybug watched as her partner was hit with sand, and he fell backward. She ran towards him and was able to catch him. Well, evil me should be here any moment… Chat Noir fell out of her grasp, him thudding against the roof of the building they were standing on. What?
"M'lady? Where did you go?" Chat stood up, confused.
"I am right here," Ladybug went to touch him, but her hand phased right through him. What?
Carapace joined them, "Where did LB go?"
"I- I don't know. I got hit with sand, and then she caught me… but then disappeared." HIS NIGHTMARE IS ME NO LONGER EXISTING.
"Maybe that is your nightmare, this is not good."
"It is okay… I think. I just have to get to the pillow."
"I think you forgot about me." The sound of his voice sent chills down her spine. Chat Blanc walked up to the two superheroes. "So where did my lady go? I want to get her miraculous." Chat Blanc grabbed Chat Noir's wrist and flipped him. His body slamming against the roof once more. He lunged at Carapace, who was able to back away.
"Shellter!" Carapace aimed at the nightmare, entrapping him. "Hurry, dude, I do not know how long I can contain him."
Chat Noir got up slowly, his back most likely hurting from the blow. He vaulted towards sandboy, trying once again to get to his pillow. Carapace was physically struggling against Chat Blanc. The villain was kicking and clawing at the orb around him. It won't be long before he tries to use his cataclysm, and I don't know if Carapace's Shellter can handle that kind of power.
Chat Noir ignited his cataclysm and jumped from his pole. He was nearly an inch from the pillow but fell to the ground. No! He was so close. Chat Blanc was charging up his destruction power, and aimed at the shell. It is cracking… hurry Chat Noir.
Ladybug hated being helpless, but she couldn't do anything. No one could see her or hear her. She had to sit and watch as Chat Noir failed over and over, falling and hurting himself more. Carapace was physically struggling, his shellter cracking, and he only had a minute left before he detransformed. Chat Noir vaulted one more time, still missing. Chat Blanc delivered a final blow to his captor's shellter, and it shattered. Carapace detransformed, leaving Nino facing the villain. "Nino!" Chat Noir grabbed Nino, being careful to not touch him with his hand. Chat only has a minute left before he detransforms… He placed Nino on the ground. "Try and find some food for Wayzz." Chat ran back, straight for sandboy, when Chat Blanc stood before him. "Get out of my way!"
"Never, old friend. I will not lose her again!" Chat Blanc charged him, aiming his destruction power at Chat Noir. Chat Noir dodged, and vaulted high. Chat Blanc destroyed his pole, and as the rust climbed the pole, Chat Noir jumped as high as he could. The tip of his finger hit the pillow, and it crumbled to the ground. Chat Blanc faded, and sandboy detransformed back into his civilian self. Ladybug threw her yoyo, please let me be back to normal, and it wrapped around the child, allowing her to catch him. Chat Noir no longer had his pole in his hand, and therefore was freefalling. Ladybug placed the boy down and ran towards her partner, but it was too late. His body took a blow to the ground.
Chat couldn't feel much. His ears were ringing, and his head hurt a lot. He tried to sit up, but he couldn't. Am I paralyzed? He moved his hand and touched his head. I am bleeding, great. "Chat! Are you okay?"
"Do I look okay?" He laughed.
"This is not a laughing matter."
"Catch the akuma. I will be fine." Ladybug nodded, although it looked like she didn't want to listen. She yoyoed up and out of Chat's sight, but soon returned.
"Miraculous Ladybug!" She threw up the wooden turtle, and the magical ladybugs filled the air. Chat's body was wrapped by the creatures, and he started to gain feeling in his legs again. He was able to stand up, and the blood on his head disappeared. "Oh you're okay now," Ladybug grabbed him and pulled him into a hug.
Nino came and handed his miraculous to Ladybug. "I can make my way home. Don't worry about me." He left the two superheroes to talk to one another.
Tears were streaming down Ladybug's face, "I was helpless. All I could do was watch as you two were struggling. I abandoned you… I am so sorry!"
"It isn't you're fault m'lady."
The two moved onto the room of another building, deciding it was best to not have their conversation in the middle of a street. "I know that your nightmare as Chat Noir was me abandoning you, and leaving you to fight yourself… but what was the nightmare you had that caused you to call me crying and panicking? Adrien's nightmare." Chat had his head resting in Ladybug's lap.
"I- I had a nightmare that you gave up the miracle box and… forgot about me," Chat said quietly, "it was so sudden too… you just gave me ownership, and left."
"I would never do that, you know that right?" Ladybug ran her fingers through his hair, "I will never abandon you."
"You will don't lie," Chat's voice cracked, "eventually, you will have to relinquish the box to someone else, and you will forget everything. You won't remember me, our friends, or any of your life after you got your miraculous."
"That is a long, long time from now Chaton. I promise, I will keep the box for as long as possible, I will not abandon you," I never thought about it, but he is right. I will forget everything.
"I don't want to lose you."
"You won't. I will be here for you as long as possible. I love you."
"I love you too." Chat said sitting up. He pulled Ladybug into a kiss. I lost her twice… in one day. I don't know how I am going to handle the real thing...He didn't want to worry Ladybug, but her words did not calm him. More than ever, he was aware of how quickly he could lose her, and how one day she will leave him.
