"Goodbye," Marinette said as she fell off the cliff. Her body floating through the air, as she was out of Adrien's grasp.

"Marinette!" His hands missed hers, her eyes empty. She was gone. Adrien jumped, what else could he do.

He awoke to being shaken. A dream.

"Adrien, you were screaming? Are you okay?" Marinette asked his head in her lap. He sat up and turned towards her. He grabbed her face.

"Oh, you're okay! I thought I lost you." Adrien kissed her aggressively. "Don't ever leave me."

"Adrien," Marinette grabbed his shoulders, "we need to talk." Right, I did scream. "Did you have a nightmare again?" Adrien nodded, "This is the 3rd one this week…"

"I know…" Adrien laid back down in her lap and stared up at her, "I just - I can't stop thinking about how you're going to eventually leave me."

Marinette sighed, she knew he was right. "I am not planning on leaving you anytime soon, I promise. When the time comes for me to give up the guardian box we'll be old, so old that we need those constipation pills you got me in London."

"But... " Adrien didn't feel any better. He doesn't want to lose her, ever. I don't care if we are 90 years old, I don't want her to forget everything we had.

"I can't change fate, Adrien. I wish I could, really," she looks worried… maybe…

"You're right," Adrien pushed his feelings down, "we have our whole lives to build great memories." I just wish we didn't have to build the memories knowing they're going to disappear… but I don't want to make her feel worse than she already is. "I'll just have to spend the rest of my time trying to make you fall in love with me again," he said with a smirk.

Marinette's face lit up, "c'mon chaton. It can't be that hard to make me fall in love with you." She scratched under his chin, a purr erupting from him, "I am still getting used to you purring."

"I can't help it," he responded with a smirk.

Adrien returned home seconds before his curfew, "I am sorry Nathalie, I fell asleep and-" Adrien stared at her, she looked off.

"It is fine Adrien. I am glad you came home at all. I think we need to have a chat," Nathalie motioned for him to follow her. He did so, and she took him into his bedroom. She sat on his couch and he sat next to her. "Your father, I said he took it okay."

"He didn't, did he…"

Nathalie sighed, "no... no he didn't. He wants to control your actions right now. He does not trust you to make your own decisions right now. He- has offered a compromise."

Why should I compromise… I have done nothing wrong… "What is this compromise?" Adrien rolled his eyes.

"He wants to," Nathalie bit her tongue, contemplating her next words, "how do I say this…" she said under breath. "He wants to market you."

"Market… me? Doesn't he do that anyway?"

"He wants to market both of you. He wants me to tell you that the only way he would allow you to continue dating Marinette is if she becomes a marketing strategy… essentially."

What is going on in his mind? If he thinks that I am going to market my girlfriend he has another thing coming. Adrien's face filled with anger, and Nathalie noticed. "Look - he doesn't want too much. He just wants you two to do some modeling here and there, and take her to events."

Adrien sighed, there was no way he was getting out of this. "I have to ask Marinette, I can't agree to this without her input," I hope this doesn't freak her out, "but… I suppose it could be worse."

"Well…" Nathalie looked at him sheepishly, "there is one more thing." Oh boy, "He doesn't want you over at her house anymore, only here. He wants to be able to monitor you two." There it is…

Adrien groaned, of course, his father had to complicate things. "Once again, I have to talk to Marinette about it. I don't understand why he is throwing such a fit, but for now, I will try and make it work…"

"Thank you, Adrien. I think he will calm down once he finally completes his mission," Nathalie stood up and started to walk away. Mission? That is an odd choice of word. Adrien shrugged it off. He pulled out his phone and dialed Marinette, there is no way she is asleep yet… right?

Marinette answered quickly, "you didn't have another nightmare did you?" so she is still worrying about that… "No, no m'lady. This is something else. Nathalie just informed me that my father isn't necessarily keen on us dating."

"Okay… it seems like there is more to that."

"He will be okay with" more like tolerate, "our relationship if he can market us." Marinette was silent, "he wants you to model with me, and to make public appearances with me."

"I guess that's fine… I am not exactly the modeling type but…"

"Also, I forgot - he kinda doesn't want me hanging out with you unless it's at my house..."

Marinette groaned, "seriously… I liked nightmare Gabriel better… at least he just straight-up admitted he didn't like me."

"I am sure my father will warm up to you… eventually."

"Speaking of which, when am I going to meet that father of yours."

"Next time you come over, I suppose… which will be soon considered we're not allowed anywhere else for the time being."

"Great."

"Is that attitude I hear, m'lady?" Adrien teased.

"Why yes Chaton, it is attitude. In the span of a minute I have been sold off to the modeling industry, so yes I have a little bit of attitude," Marinette said back, her tone was no longer serious, it almost sounded like she enjoyed the idea of being a model.

"Oh, woe be you," Adrien said with dramatic flair, causing Marinette to laugh, "I can teach you how to be a model."

Marinette stood in front of the Agreste mansion… it is much bigger than I remember… This wasn't just a simple meet and greet with Gabriel, it was also going to involve him figuring out what he wanted to dress Marinette in. She was shaking. She went from being an extreme admirer of the fashion designer to being a model for him in an instant. If I get this right, it may give me a foot in the door for the design career path. Marinette shook off her nerves and rang the door, with Nathalie answering in an instant and opening the gates for her.

Marinette made her way up the steps and was greeted by Nathalie and Adrien, "Gabriel is up in his office, this way," Marinette motioned Marinette up to his office, with Adrien following behind. When Marinette entered she was immediately greeted with multiple mannequins, all with dresses on them. Gabriel was messing with the fabric of one when he noticed the three. He walked up to Marinette and extended his hand, "you must be Marinette. My son has caught an eye for you."

Marinette grabbed Gabriel's hand, she attempted to keep her composure, but she was sure that he felt her hand shaking. She smiled, "thank you for the opportunity. I am really into fashion myself."

"Yes I remember," Gabriel said, walking back to the mannequins, "you designed that derby hat for me." He remembers that! "Now, I don't want to scare you off, but I needed to see you in person to see what dress would look best on you." He looked at Marinette and then walked towards a mannequin. The one he was looking at was an emerald green chiffon, "take this, for example, it is too bulky for you." Gabriel went over to another mannequin, which was a light pink mermaid silhouette dress, "now this, suits you much better. It is softer." Gabriel pulled out a sketch pad and showed Marinette a sketch of the pink dress with a matching suit, "this is what you two will be wearing at the photoshoot I have booked. I just need to have you put it on so I can make some alterations."

Marinette was overwhelmed. She had just been thrown into Gabriel's world, and he was so calm about it. Adrien seemed unphased. Of course, he doesn't care, he lives and breathes this. She mustered a smile and was handed the dress to put on.

Once she returned with the dress on Gabriel got out his tools and started making marks, and Marinette wanting to make conversation decided to make a lighthearted comment, "this feels weird, usually, I am the one doing the alterations."

Gabriel, with a pin in his mouth, mustered a reply, "if you want, I could use some help from time to time with alterations. It would be a good way for me to see your skills."

This caused Marinette to freeze up, why is he being so nice to me. I thought he hated me… Marinette wasn't complaining, however. "I would love to get an opportunity to work with you."

Gabriel made the final alteration marking on the dress, so Marinette changed back into her clothes, and the two teens could finally hang out normally.

Marinette had only been in Adrien's room a handful of times, with a few of those being without him knowing. He doesn't need to know that. She never really got a full grasp of how big his room was. Well, we won't get bored any time soon.

"So what do you do for fun around here?" Marinette started rummaging through his CDs, trying to find something interesting.

"I don't know, I usually have to try and find ways to entertain Plagg," Adrien said.

Marinette found a good movie and came downstairs, "remember your 'date' with Lila?" She was headed towards his TV when the smell of cheese caught her off guard. Marinette did a 180 and opened a drawer, full of camembert, with Plagg in the middle. "Adrien… why do you have a drawer full of cheese?"

"The real question is why you don't have a drawer full of cheese."

"No, but seriously. How does Nathalie not smell that? How have they not questioned your cheese addiction?" Adrien shrugged. I am glad that I got Tikki as a kwami.

Marinette put the movie in and sat down on his couch. Adrien grabbed some cheese out of the drawer and sat back down. He placed two pieces on his table for Plagg and Tikki to eat. "I don't think Tikki likes camembert," Marinette said.

"More for me," Plagg said, taking a bit out of Tikki's cheese.

"How have you been handling the security camera issue?" Marinette asked.

"Well, it isn't really an issue anymore. Plagg cataclysmed the camera for me, Marinette's face was filled with disapproval, "look, I had no choice, anyway - it sort of shorted out all of the houses security cameras, and after I did that a few more times they decided that there must be a faulty wire in my room or something so they haven't reinstalled the camera." Adrien pointed at his windows, "now I have an alarm on my windows and door, but that is really easy to get past. All I have to do is climb to the top window and tilt it at a certain angle and it won't set the alarm off," he laughed, "I don't think they anticipated that I could get that high."

I guess it works… it would just suck if Gabriel or Nathalie found out he was Chat Noir… I don't know how trustworthy they are. Marinette snuggled into Adrien's shoulder. She enjoyed being close to him. Adrien slowly maneuvered his arm around her. The two stayed like that for the whole movie, simply enjoying each other's company, until Nathalie came in unannounced.

"Just checking on you two, that is all," Nathalie said, exiting his room.

"I am guessing that is why your dad wanted us to stay here, so Nathalie could check on us." Adrien nodded.

"I think he likes you," Adrien said, "which trust me, that is rare. He barely likes me." Ouch.

"I hope he likes me. It will only make things difficult."

"Who couldn't like the Marinette Dupain-Cheng?"

"Well, Lila, Chl-" Adrien pulled Marinette into a kiss.

"Shut up," he said with some laughter before kissing her again.
