A/N: Another short story. I've been meaning to do another Northern Lights story. And this time it's with our favorite would-be couple of Zootopia. In celebration to my 3 year anniversary.

Nick and Judy in the Northern Lights Scene

It was a cold night in the city of Zootopia. Winter had rolled in not too long ago, but it was hardly a merry time. The sun was starting to set in the west and Judy Hops, a gray bunny wearing a policeman's uniform, stood outside the Zootopia hospital. She saw a lot of little sick mammals sitting in the sick ward. She could feel her heart breaking from seeing them all like this. She could only watch in sadness as a few of the kids started coughing or were trying to sleep off their illness.

As night time came over the city, a red furred fox named Nick Wilde also wearing a policeman's uniform came walking down the hall. He had learned from a fellow coworker that Judy was going to be here. But as he walked up to the window where Judy was standing, he looked into a window and noticed a strand of fur sticking up on his head. Nick tried to brush it down with his paw. But when he stopped it only popped back up again. With a small growl he vigorously tried to brush it down again but to met with the same results. Deciding to just let it be, Nick just turned away from the window and walked up to Judy.

Judy was still looking in the window when Nick walked up behind her. Nick then said, "Uh, Judy?"

When she didn't seem to hear him, Nick cleared his throat to get her attention. This time she heard it and looked behind her as he said, "Uh, Judy."

"Nick." She said before looking back into the window with a, "Hi."

"Hi." Nick returned with a slight grin. Then looking about the hall and he tried to ask, "Look, uh… this is just a shot in the dark…" He shook his head as he searched for the right words, "but I-I was wondering if, uh- I don't know, maybe you'd like to go somewhere and do something together."

Nick looked to Judy, but his face fell when she wasn't paying him any attention. He did then notice how she was staring into the window and moved next to her and asked, "Judy?"

"Just look at all those poor kids in there." Judy said as they both looked to the sick children. Nick agreed with her by saying, "It is a shame that they're all sick and in the hospital."

They watched as a few of the children had their temperatures taken, got into a coughing fit or whatever was ailing or being done to help them. Judy sighed, making Nick look to her and she asked, "Nick, what do you think is wrong with them?"

"Hm. I'm not sure." Nick said while shaking his head. But then an idea came to mind and then with a wave of his paw, "But I do know of how we can find out. Come on."

Nick walked away from the window and Judy took one more glance to the children before following after the fox. They came up to a utility closet and Nick took out a credit card. He had a small grin when he said, "I have the keys to the city."

Carefully swiping the card through the crack in the door, he was able to get it unlocked. Nick opened the door and acted like a gentleman when he motioned for Judy to go first, "After you."

"Uh, thanks." Judy said before walking in. But she gave him a small glance when she said, "But I'm not too comfortable with you using tricks like that."

Nick lightly laughed and said, "Well, at least I'm not really doing it for anything wrong." Judy just gave him a deadpanned look before he said, "Eh, sorry."

Nick then climbed up to the top shelf and moved the grate to the air vents out of the way. Judy climbed up as well, and saw that it was big enough for the both of them. As they started to crawl through, Nick looked to her and said, "Stay close."

Judy gave a light laugh as they kept going. Then she reassured him by saying, "No problem there."

She looked about the air vent and thought that it was a little spooky in it. As they kept going, Nick made a left turn in the vents and Judy said, "Are you sure you know where you're going, Nick?" She tried to sound brave when she came around the corner, "Not that this place is making me scared or anything."

But she gasped in fright when she nearly crawled into a large spider web. Nick happened to glance back and said, "Don't worry, Carrots. I know exactly where I'm going."

He used his tail to knock the web down and said, "We'll be getting our answers from the main doctor himself, and we'll be visiting one of the most beautiful spots in the world."

They came to another grate and Nick pushed it out of the way. He stopped it from falling to the ground and the two came out in another room. Judy gave Nick an incredulous look and asked, "I think we were both thinking different thoughts about the word beautiful?"

"Well, not only is this room connected to the head doctor's office, but there is something special about it." Nick said as she dusted herself off. Nick then leaned closer and whispered, "Plus, you're only looking at the bowl half empty."

"Huh?" Judy asked, not understanding. Nick then walked over to the middle of the room and pointed at the floor. Judy was very surprised to see a pile of broken glass shards and said, "See this? It's the polar ice caps."

"Nick, those are just broken bottles." Judy pointed out, not amused by what he was doing, "And they're not half empty, they're all empty."

But Nick didn't stop as he only smiled. Walking over to a lantern sitting on a table. He turned it on and said, "The sun."

"Ahh, Nick." Judy shook her head, not in the mood for games and started to turn back to the air vent. Nick moved the lantern to a new spot while saying, "And.. to the north-"

When he moved out of the lantern's way, the light from it shone on the bottle caps and it brightened up the room. Judy happened to look back and gasped as she said, "It's just like the Northern Lights either in Tundra Town or far up north.

"Wow." Judy said and smiled at the beauty as the lights danced on the walls. She moved closer to Nick and said, "Oh, Nick, you're right. It's beautiful."

But Nick was looking to Judy and said with a smile, "Yeah, beautiful."

This caused Judy to look away from the wall and into his eyes. Nick's smile dropped as he found himself lost in hers. The fox and the rabbit started leaning forward as if about to kiss. But the sound of footsteps caused them to look to a wall that had an opening. Nick turned off the lantern and they moved towards it.

Author's Note: I know that it's greatly different from the last one and that was what, a good while ago, but I'm glad that it's different. Plus, as I have said it many times before, these two would make an awesome couple, despite you know. I look forward to reading your reviews. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
