He was left in pure shock. The words spoken felt almost like a dream to him. Or rather a nightmare.

"How is that possible. S-She was super h-healthy and how did it come to this. Why did this happen? Please explain, please. This can't be real can it. No way is this real. Officer please tell me this is some cruel joke. Please, PLEASE."

Tsukauchi didn't know how to react. He solemnly stared at the boy crying his heart out in front of him. He didn't know how to comfort him, so he let him just cry and cry. Tsukauchi looked at the principal who he expected to be filled with pity for Midoriya, but instead he saw boredom. He was shocked how the principal could look so uninterested when he heard something as cruel as a boy's mother dying.

Tsukauchi looked back at the crying boy and spoke again. "Son, you're going to have to go to an adoption center while we set you up for foster care, understand. Come with me so we can go get some of your stuff from home."

A broken Izuku nodded and held his head down the entire time. He followed the police officer to his car and towards what he used to call home. He thought about the information given to him again. He couldn't get it out of his brain the entire car ride, why this had occurred to him, and only him.

The car finally came to a stop at his apartment building, as he saw many more cars than usual. Once he entered his apartment building, that made much more sense. Inside he found people trying to figure out why Inko Midoriya had suffered a heart attack.

"It could have been shock from trauma or just about anything. No cigarettes, no excessive beer or wine. She was a perfectly healthy person. There's no explanation for this death."

He walked towards his room, filled to the brim with All Might memorophilia. He packed whatever he could fit into the suitcase given to him by the officers, and was shortly delivered to the adoption center.

It wasn't long before hopeful parents visited the adoption center. With it, they found Izuku Midoriya, age 10, who looked scared and sad. They decided they wanted to fix that for him, so they decided to adopt him.

"Hello, my name is Ozawa Kame and my wife's name is Rie Megumi, and we were looking to adopt a child today." The man talked to the worker a bit more, but ultimately got through the endless amounts of paperwork that came through.

To Izuku, he was still disheartened at his mother's death, but he decided to act happy for his new adoptive parents.

"Thank you for adopting me."

"No problem at all Izuku. Do you want to keep your last name or share with us?"

"I can share if you'd like, it doesn't really matter to me anyways." He sighed dejectedly. He was tired, and a bit broken at that, but he was still excited to sleep in a comfortable place, other than that terrible adoption center.

When they arrived at the house, he was given new clothes, a new bed, and a schedule to follow. He would be enrolled into a new school, where he was known as "the quiet kid." He continued on with the routine, eventually accepting his mother's death. He started to enjoy his life with his parents, constantly telling them that he loved them, just as they said it right back to him.

They had been a happy filled family for a year now. One morning, he realized that he forgot his adoptive mom and dad's names. "Hey mom, hey dad, I'm a bit embarrassed to ask, but what were your names again?" Over a couple bits of laughter, he was told their names, which he proceeded to write down so he could cherish their family forever.

Only 40 seconds later, he sees his mother clutching her heart, before crashing down on the floor. Another 10 seconds pass, and his father, in shock, suddenly grips near his heart. He says with his final breath," I lo-"

Izuku quickly rushed towards the phone and called the police as fast as he could.

"Hello, 110 speaking h-"

"HELP, PLEASE MY PARENTS ARE DYING. SEND AN AMBULANCE TO THIS ADDRESS IMMEDIATELY."

"Wait a moment and calm down. As I call the emergency line, please explain to me what happened."

"B-Both my parents just clutched their hearts and please help them please." Izuku cried out in desperation, for his new parents.

Ambulances quickly arrived, but one check from the paramedics confirmed the worst. Ozawa Kame and Rie Megumi were both dead.

He cried and cried all night long. He wondered if he was cursed. All three of the people closest to him died by a heart attack. How could he not be cursed. He thought his life would be over, just thinking if he called faster, maybe they could have been saved. As he rode in the police car, he cried himself to sleep.

He woke up to the now unfamiliar feeling of a torn and cheap mattress. He was back at the adoption center that treated him worthlessly. As he sat there, he tried to think why his parents had died at that moment. It was hard, as he was trying to suppress the memories, but he even thought back to his first mother.

He thought about what he was doing on that fateful day. He got up, went to school, and received a permission slip for a school trip. He kept reminiscing until he realized it.

He wrote his mother's name on that slip. Yesterday, he had written the names of his parents and they died the exact same way.

He was both in shock and disgusted with himself. He had caused the deaths, and he had finally found out his quirk after 7 long years. It was him all along.

Author Note

Hey guys, this is my first story so please leave reviews cause I have no idea what I'm doing. Also, you've probably figured it out, but Izuku has the power of the Death Note but with any paper. I don't think I will put any restrictions or drawbacks, cause the story will be more interesting for his development. I have a rough idea up until before the U.A. exams, but I don't know if I want an anti-hero story or a hero despite his quirk story.

Also the official description of his quirk will be written next.

Quirk: Anybody's name written down, except himself, will die in 40 seconds in the specified way. If there is no specification, they will die via heart attack.

Thanks for reading. See you next chapter!
