"Oh come on...where is it?!" XR fumbled around underneath the charging station he was supposed to be resting in. His treads were too large to fit underneath the mess of wires and metal boxes, but with his glowing flashlight eyes and handy extendable arms, it wasn't a problem. He was careful not to make too much noise as his arms snaked around the hidden area. After a moment, he felt it. He ran his purple fingers over the rectangular screen before yanking it out and holding it up.

"Yes!" XR exclaimed, immediately followed by the clash of his metal hand covering his mouth. He giggled awkwardly and looked around for a second to make sure no one heard. The robot then quickly rolled over to a corner and sat down with the white tablet in his hands. It flashed its light in his face, and he was grateful to not have organic eyes that would have probably been blinded by the glow. His smile was bigger than an asteroid belt.

The comic title started flashing on screen. It was in present mode, and that was good for now; he wanted to see his progress before editing again. Checking one last time to make sure no one was watching, he pressed play on the cover.

"The Cosmic Adventures of XR: Robot Ranger! Now playing: chapter 11!" He squealed in delight as the tablet showed several small animations of fireworks and his name written in electric letters. It then went black for a moment and switched to a different image of Buzz, who was cornered by hornets on Planet Z and appearing much less...confident than the real Buzz.

"Red alert! Red alert! Evil has struck again! XR is our only hope!" Said the voice bubble attached to the frightened Buzz. A bit of heroic music kicked up as a new page presented itself, with an additional character in play.

"Step aside, cadet Lightyear! Things could get messy," XR had drawn himself holding several more impressive weapons that he wished to actually have, including a plasma cannon which he couldn't own for obvious legal reasons. He also went into great detail with the lighting, making his terillium parts shinier than ever...and a bit taller. XR was personally proud at how his artistic skills had improved since he began making these.

A few added *BOOM* sound effects and flashes covered the screen, the music now a bit louder than before, and XR standing proudly with his weapons in hand off to the side, blowing off the smoke that had come from the weapons. The real XR was in a daze, so pumped up and sucked into his own creation. Delight ran through his wires and metal as the next page came forth.

"Wow! They've all been taken out?! I don't believe it! No ranger has been this powerful before!" This one was a simple drawing of a shocked Buzz looking upon the sight of dismembered and deactivated hornets. XR loved the detail in this one the most. He had gotten really, REALLY good at expressing a blown up robot in drawing form...regardless of the reason he was able to.

The next page was Buzz, appearing thankful as a much taller XR placed a hand on his shoulder and said with great confidence, "Don't worry, my loyal sidekick. As long as I'm here, evil will never prevail!" Background sets turned to flashy colors that flickered with XR's name and concealed the last page. The music increased in volume once more before repeating the title page and reading the message, "Stay tuned for chapter 12!" It then cut to black and the music died down. XR sighed and smiled, hugging the tablet to his chest and nuzzling it.

"Chapter 11 started with that cliffhanger, right?" a slightly tired voice asked from behind XR.

"Yeah, I thought it would be a bit more exciting if it started off with a bang," answered XR, turning to face Buzz before looking back at the tablet. He did a double take and spun around blabbering random syllables and beginnings of sentences.

"B-Buzz! I uh- you- why? I just- I was- I was about to charge up but got lost trying to find the lightswitch!" He grinned and chuckled nervously. Buzz, only lit by XR's eyes, raised an unconvinced brow and looked over to the wall XR was laying against.

"Uh, this one?" He turned on the light and made the entire room visible. The human's eyes were obviously a bit strained and not ready for the sudden change in light. XR was shaking a bit as he concealed the tablet inside his chest compartment trying to be as casual as possible. Buzz sighed and threw out a hand, clearly asking for something with the other hand on his hips.

"W-What do you want? I don't have anything!" The tablet betrayed him as the comic's music started playing again and vibrated his body. XR punched his chest angrily and the music cut off, him now returning to his not-so-subtle smiling state towards Buzz.

"XR...We've talked about this…" Buzz began in an irritated tone.

"Ugh, I know! I know! 'No electronics past chargetime!'" He finally gave in and took out the tablet and hugged it, "It's just special to me, alright?" Buzz blinked a few times before sliding down the wall and sitting next to XR. He peered over to the screen and watched the now silent pages run their course. He smiled.

"Zurg trying to blow up the casino again?" XR was a bit startled that Buzz remembered such early chapters like that, especially since he still needed to go edit those and make sure he didn't get caught by Buzz...again. If he had skin his cheeks would be red.

"Uh...y-yeah," the robot seemed a bit embarrassed now that Buzz had said it out loud. Maybe he should be focused on real things like Buzz, instead of his stupid fantasies. He braced for the impact.

"Just...make sure your dad doesn't see it and I'll let it slide. I'm kind of excited for chapter 12 and I don't wanna hold back the artist." XR froze. Did- did Buzz just-?

"B-But it's against the rules to be up this late without permission! YOU altered the times for that section in the manual!" Buzz laughed and started walking past XR's charger.

"Well a ranger's heart always drives him to success, why would I stop something that keeps ya going?" Huh. He...he really cared! He wasn't going to destroy or make fun of his comics! XR still stood in complete shock when Buzz left the room and closed the door behind him. It took a good minute to take in what just happened before he snapped out of it. Carefully, he switched the light back off and got to work sketching out the first drafts of chapter 12, hopefully the best one yet. Star Command was quiet that night, with only a single ranger in the back of the charging unit letting his energy burst out. It could have powered the whole station if he tried.

Wow...has it really been a whole year since my last anniversary message?! Craters, time flies, doesn't it? I hope you all enjoyed this one-shot dedicated to, yes, you guessed it, XR'S 21ST BIRTHDAY! Also, HUGE shoutout to LloydTheRussianWolf and NinjaWolfKyd for following and favoriting my work! You guys are awesome! And oh, look at that! This is the first time on this account where I didn't just torture Ty the whole time lol. Anyways, thank you all so much for staying tuned and reading my work.
