Chapter 35 : The lost past
Hey guys, Agithos here for a long awaited chapter that was hard to write because of work...and a few parts I didn't know how to word out. But it here now so, without further ado...Enjoy
Archer EMIYA: :
Stop putting spaces after exclamation marks. That's not correct. Its so damn annoying. - Well, since you are not the first the say that, I tried to change that. I am still wondering if that changes anything so tell me if it's better.
Two hours later, Charloette's castle, Hayden POV
"Thank you for what you did." Charloette spoke up "If it weren't for you, the ghast kingdom would have surely fell into chaos by now."
"No problem." Yaebi replied as he scratched the back of his head.
We were in the infirmary, one of the only rooms of the castle that had been untouched by the fight between Menos and us. Speaking of him, his wounds were treated like the queen ordered despite the protest of a few civilians. He was now resting in the royal bedroom. As for us, we were watching on Cupa who was on the bed in front of us. She had waken up a few minutes ago from the stunt she pulled during the battle.
"All your tests are good." The ghast healer said after checking the creeper girl "You are free to go but you need some rest, is that clear ?"
"Yes. Got it." She replied with a bright smile.
That being said, I helped Cupa get on her feet and we walked out of the room, thanking the healer for his work. In the castle, a lot of ghasts were working on repairing the castle, rebuilding the walls and floor. Even the ceiling had been touched by Cupa's explosion. Behind us, the ghast queen was quietly following the group.
"Are you alright, Charloette ?" Yaebi asked as he turned to her.
"Yes. I...I am just glad this is all over. Once Herobrine is defeated, we can hope life will go back to normal." She answered as she watched the workers placing blocks after blocks to fill all the holes "I just hope my father will be alright. "
My eyes widden in realization. She told us a few days ago that her father had fallen ill for an unknown reason. At this moment, I feared our battle injured or, maybe even killed him. Charloette must have noticed my sudden expression change because she put a hand on my shoulder.
"Don't worry, Hayden. My father is not at the castle for the moment. He is currently being treated in a specialized healing center at the other side of the kingdom." She explained with a smile, earning a sigh from my two comrades.
"Well, that's a relief." Cupa then smiled too.
As we reached the gigantic throne room, I noticed the maids trying to wipe out the drying blood from the floor. I frowned. Even the situation had been handle without too much damage, some questions were still remaining unanswered 'What were those crystals ?How, in the name of Notch could they have the power to corrupt a living being to this extent ?' And, more importantly 'What created them ?'
"Have you learnt anything on this gem ?" Cupa asked.
"No." Charloette simply answered before continuing "My best researchers are currently trying to find the nature of this crystal. They should bring me results in a few overworld days."
"That's good to know." I replied "If we learn more about them, we could prevent those kind of tragedies from happening." I then added.
"As soon as I have some news, you will be one of the firsts to know." The ghast queen replied.
"Thanks, Charloette." Cupa thanked her.
"No, problem. That's the least I can do after what you have done for me and this kingdom."
"Still, we didn't expect you and Ari to come here." Yaebi stated, making the spider girl cross her arms.
"It was her who insisted." Ari pointed at Charloette "She wanted to hear the truth with her own ears and I couldn't let her go alone." She explained.
That being said, we got out of the castle. Outside, the civilians had returned to their daily lives. Traces of the rebellion were still present into the streets but no one seemed to pay any mind for now. At least, the kingdom had been saved from a civil war and that's all that mattered.
"Let's go back home. Ayumi and Andr must be waiting for us." Ari said before looking on the ground "I hope my little Vanessa came back or, at least, that she is alright wherever she is."
"I hope so too." I added "I wonder how they are doing right now."
A few days later, The Nether, Mickael POV
"We have arrived." Korian spoke up as the 'train' finally came to a stop.
We all got out of our respective minecarts and I took a good look at my surroundings. There was a lava ocean, netherracks and some soulsand blocks. Nothing seemed really different from the other parts of the Nether I have visited : No oppressive atmosphere, No giant towers of doom, not even some evil monsters to attack us.
"Are you sure this is the place, Korian ?" I asked "I can't see anything out of the ordinary."
"That's because we are only at the wither skeleton's kingdom's frontier. We shall continue on foot from now on." She answered before adding "We will go toward the capital and explore some villages on our way to try and find out what happened here 300 years ago."
"Is the capital far away ?"
"Not really." She looked at her map of the area. It seemed really old but, if the kingdom was indeed abandoned then nothing would have changed in 300 years "According to this, it should be only one day of walk away from our current position."
"That's good to know." I simply said.
I turned to my right and saw the young silverfish girl walking around with a book in her hands, reading it as she was going into our direction. Vanessa was not too far behind her, trying to see anything that would betray the little girl's dislike for the story, like a small laugh or even a simple smile. She had told me a few days ago about her little bet with Shara.
"Are you all ready to go ?" Korian asked to her troops.
"Yes, captain !" They all responded.
"Good, remember : Stay focused and on your guard." The zombie pigman girl warned them "No one has been in this area for hundreds of years. We don't know what could happen."
As she was briefing her troops, Blazette flew toward me and stopped at my side.
"So, hot stuff, how was the travel ?" She asked.
"I have known better." I said, rubbing my neck "Next time, remind me to not fall asleep in a minecart. Damn, my neck is killing me."
"Oh, you poor little thing." She patted my head "Come here, let this blaze girl make you feel better."
"I don't need your sarcasm, Blazette." I chuckled, earning a small giggle from her.
"HEY, YOU TWO ! WE ARE LEAVING !" Korian shouted at us.
"Understood." I replied as I packed my things and we both rejoined the main group. Vanessa and Shara were arguing again. I guess the little cave's spider stalking behavior was becoming slightly annoying to the silverfish girl. Korian and Blazette were also talking to each other, talking about the expedition.
"Notch...What do think we will find inside this kingdom ?" I asked the god inside my head.
"I would lie if I told you I knew." He spoke up "The Nether is my brother's creation, not mine. I don't know what we could find but, if it's indeed related to his revival, then we must prepare for the worst."
"How did he manage to resurrect if he was dead ?"
"He must have had access to a lot of energy to come back from the void and create a new body. I wish I knew more than that."
"I see. I guess we will have to ask him in person." I smiled.
And thus, began our journey toward a city which was once one of the most glorious cities of the Nether realm.
3 hours later, The Nether, Mickael POV
"It's empty here as well." I heard a enderman say as he teleported to our group.
"Figures, after all this time, it would be surprising if we even find the slightest clue." Korian responded.
We were currently in a small village we had stumbled upon a few kilometers away from the capital. It was quite small : only a dozens houses. Having being abandoned a long time ago, most of them were in ruins, with holes in the walls and the ceilings.
"Something is strange...but it further confirm our theory." The zombie pigman girl closed her eyes and crossed her arms.
"What do you mean ?" Blazette asked.
"Look around you." Korian answered "When I read the ancient reports, they reported hundreds, if not thousands, of corpses covering the streets. However, now, we can't find anything !"
"So we were right all along !" I crossed my arms "Herobrine is indeed using those corpses to create his monstrous army !"
The last enderman scout exited his house and reported to Korian. Like the others, he didn't find anything, only a empty house in ruin after hundreds of years. Korian sighed and called her troops.
"Everyone, we move !"
"Yes, captain !" They replied as they began to pack their equipement and got in line.
"So, where is the main city ?" I asked the zombie pigman girl as Blazette rejoined us, a map in her hand.
"According to this old map, we should be in a village called 'Magna' which was a town specialized in the mining of quartz. If this is the case then the capital is approximately 20 000 blocks away from our position. We should arrive to the city by in less than an overworld day." The blaze girl explained.
"That's good to know we are almost there." I spoke up "That heat is really slowly killing me."
I was sweating like no one in this big group. It was kind of my fault that I brang my armor with me while all the others opted for light clothes. Blazette looked at me, a wicked grin on her face.
"Oooh, is the hot stuff unable to handle such little heat."
"Says the blaze girl who constantly complains about how the overworld is too cold for her but keeps coming with just her underwear." I replied
"That's a low blow, hot stuff." She looked away, pouting.
"Well, you asked for it." I chuckled at her with a smile.
"Enough, you two." Korian sighed and took the map from Blazette's hands. She then looked straight at the horizon "We still have a long way to go. Let's no waste any more time."
And with that being said, we returned to our travel inside the Nether. It was almost a never ending nightmare for me. The heat of the lave and the heaviness of the atmosphere of the realm made each of my steps a struggle. Sure, I had brought some fresh water and a few ice cubes but the water doesn't do really much aside from preventing me from dying of dehydration and the ice blocks would instantly melt as soon as I pulled them outside of my backpack. Blazette was floating above us, acting as our scout for any monsters we would encounter. Korian was staying with her own soldiers on the front line, a hand on her sword, ready to unsheathe it if needed. As for Vanessa, she was following, without saying anything. I guess she was like me, struggling with the heat. It looked like she didn't want to spend energy on such thing as talking.
We encountered a few more villages. After a quick inspection, it was clear they were exactly like the first, devoid of life and, more importantly, corpses. After what seemed like an eternity, we could finally see something big becoming clearer and clearer as we approached it.
"We have arrived. The city of the lost nether skeletons : Ashshore." The zombie pigman girl spoke up, holding the map in her hands.
We all gapped in awe by the massive city in front of us. The high walls were so tall that I could only see the towers of the castle. Even so it was clear they were damaged by the passing of time, they were still standing, proud for 300 years since the disappearance of its builders.
"I finally see it with my own eyes." I heard a little girl voice next to me. I turned my head to the right and saw Shara, still holding Vanessa's book in her hand. She was looking at the gates of the city, her eyes beaming with joy and impatience. She looked like a child waiting to open his long awaited Christmas presents "Ashshore, the city of the most powerful race in the whole nether realm."
"Really ?" I asked with an eyebrow raised "They were that powerful ?"
"Of course, they were really advanced compared to the blazes or even the ghasts : creating the first kingdom of the Nether was their doing. On the top of that, they were masters of swordsmanship. No one, expect for the zombie pigmen could rival them in this area. If it weren't for their sudden downfall, they would have ruled all the Nether." She spoke really fast, unable to contain her excitement. Almost out of breath, she paused for a second "Since I became a researcher, I swore to myself that, one day, I would learn the truth behind their disappearance, and now, that day has finally arrived."
"Alright everyone !" Korian almost shouted to catch the attention of every member of the group "We shall now enter the city. After securing a small area, we will make a small pause for everyone to rest. However, DON'T let your guard down for even a second. We still don't know what happened and we certainly don't know what could roam inside these walls, is that clear ?"
"YES, CAPTAIN !" They all shouted.
"Good !" She simply replied before facing the front gates.
As we approached the door, Blazette flew above the high wall to see if something was waiting for us on the other side. After a quick scan of the surrounding, she came back to us.
"All clear from my side, we can go !" She said as she nodded.
We pushed the front gates and they opened surprisingly easily. The lock had probably been damaged by the passing of time. That, or the gates had simply been left unlocked before the skeletons disappearance. Either way, we arrived into the city and we quickly scattered to secure a large perimeter around the front gates. With our swords pulled out and bow drawn, we spent almost five minutes like this, quietly scanning our surrounding to see if something or someone had heard us bursting in. After a few minutes, Korian decided it was safe enough.
"Alright, get some rest everyone. You can sleep if you want but be ready to be attacked at any moment."
One by one, the members of the expedition all sat on the ground. Some even closed their eyes and fell asleep in a second. As for myself, I took a look at the buildings around me. Most of them had cracks, if not holes in their walls. Some had even collapsed at some point and were now just big piles of rubble scattered on the streets. Even the castle was in a bad shape now that I could see it entirely. Upon entering Ashshore, I thought the castle had one tower but now, I noticed that there was a second tower which is now missing, probably collapsed du to hundreds of years without repairs.
Tired by the hours of walk, I closed my eyes and tried to get some rest.
"Mickael...Mickael !" Notch called my name just as I was about to fall asleep.
"Yes, what do you want ?" I groaned
"I am sensing something...something powerful." He answered.
"What ?" My eyes shot wide open and I scanned my surroundings. Some endermen had already began to search for clues inside the houses that were still mostly intact "What is it ? A monster ? Another one of those mutants ?
"No, don't worry. It's not something physical. It's more like...remnants of a powerful magic that had been used here a long time ago." He explained.
"Do you think it has something to do with your brother's revival ?"
"It's a possibility we cannot rule out." He replied.
"Where are those remnants coming from ?" I asked.
"From the castle..." He simply answered before adding "I am sure the truth reside within these walls."
"Should have guessed...Alright, I shall take a look."
I got on my feet and walked toward Korian to warn her about my departure. Passing by, I noticed Shara analyzing the structures of the houses and drawing them as she thought they would have looked when they were still intact.
"Hey, Korian !" I called her.
"Huh ? Ah, Mickael. What can I do for you ?" She replied
"I am heading to the castle to explore it. If you are searching for me, I'll be there !" I explained and she frowned at me.
"Mickael, I know you are able to take care of yourself but, as the head captain of this expedition, I am responsible for the lives of everyone here. I cannot allow you to venture on your own without any way to help you if you are in trouble. We still don't know if this city is really safe." She crossed her arms and shook her head from side to side.
"I understand but I have a feeling the answers we are looking for are inside the castle." I argued and the zombie pigman girl paused for a second.
"Fine, but, if you want to go there that badly, I ask of you that you take, at least, one person with you." I tried to speak but she instantly raised her hand toward me "And before you ask, neither Blazette or myself can come with you. We have to stay with the main group to supervise how the expedition is going. Try to find someone who hasn't been assigned to something yet."
I sighed and thanked Korian before going my own way. Around me, everyone seemed busy inspecting houses and ruins...well, almost everyone. A little spider girl I knew too well was sitting against a wall, her head buried in her arms.
"Hey, Vanessa ?" I called her "Are you okay ?"
Hearing my voice, her little sleepy head raised up to look at me.
"I am bored..." She answered "Now that that little silverfish brat has my book, there is nothing to do for me to pass the time."
"Then how about you and me go do some little exploring in that big castle ?" I suggested as I pointed the gigantic building at the end of the main street.
"Just us two ?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Well...yeah." I responded.
"Okay. I'll go with you." She said with a smile before going on her feet. Then she raised both of her arm in my direction as she was asking for a hug "Carry me."
"What ?" I quickly replied, my eyes wide open.
"What 'what' ?" She began to pout "We have been walking for Notch-knows-for-how-long. My feet are hurting and my legs are all sore." She then turned her head away from me, slightly blushing "And...you promised me we would do this again, so...carry me...please ?"
I suppressed a chuckle and turned my back on her before I went on one knee.
"Since you asked so nicely...hop on."
"YAY !" She jumped on my back, making me almost loose my balance. "Now, to the castle my loyal charger." She then said as she pointed to the castle.
"Loyal charger ?" I asked, an eyebrow raised.
"Yep." She answered with a wide smile on her face.
"Fine." I replied. Suppressing a chuckle, I made the best neigh as I could before dashing toward the castle at full speed.
"WAIT !" A little girl's voice shouted at us after only a few seconds. I turned around and saw Shara running to us, panting. I could already feel the glare Vanessa was sending her.
"Do you need something ?" I asked. She took a moment to breathe before answering.
"How dare you leave by your own to explore the castle without me ?" She sounded angry.
"Who said you were invited ? Why don't you go and finish my book so I can retrieve it as soon as possible ?" The little cave spider girl send her a cold glare.
"Vanessa..." I sighed before turning to Shara "I thought you were occupied with drawing the different buildings."
"BUT THAT'S NOTHING COMPARED TO EXPLORING THE CASTLE OF AN EXTINCT RACE !" She shouted at us "Plus, even if you discover something, you would not be able to read anything. You can't even read ancient minecraftia."
"I can read ancient minecraftia." The little girl on my shoulder proudly said "We don't need you."
"No, you can't." Shara replied
"Yes !"
"No !"
"ENOUGH !" I shouted at them and they both went silent "Shara, if you want to come with us, suit yourself. However, you have to stay close to us at all time. You do what I say when I say it, did I make myself clear ?"
Immediately after saying that, I felt a murderous glare aiming right at me from above my shoulder. A second later and I felt a small kick in my back. I guess she really didn't like the silverfish girl, that, or she just wanted to explore the castle with only the two of us.
"Yes, of course. Anything you want." Shara nearly hugged me, hey eyes beaming with excitation and happiness.
That being done, I resumed my way toward the castle with two little girls by my side : Vanessa on my shoulders and Shara walking next to me. The city was calm, quiet. No noises could be heard from the nearly crumbled houses all around us, only the sounds of our footsteps on the hot ground as well as the distant noises coming from the camp at the entrance of the city.
"Wow, it's even bigger than I had imagined." Shara said in awe in front of the castle.
"It's just an old ruin...No big deal." Vanessa shrugged as she looked the other way.
"Well, you clearly don't have the culture to understand how precious this jewel is for history." The little silverfish girl replied with a haughty voice.
"The remnants are stronger here...We are getting closer to the source." Notch spoke up.
"Are you sure it is safe to enter ? I am not alone. I can't place them in a dangerous situation." I told him.
"You don't have to worry. I can't find anything that would be harmful in this place." He replied, calmly and sure of himself.
Trusting the old god speaking inside of my head, which would have surely led me to be put in an asylum in the real world, I opened the door, well, open is a big word when the said door almost crumbled in front of me. Then, we entered into the castle and arrived into, what looked like, the main hall. Suprisingly, it was mostly intact like it had been frozen in time.
"I can't believe it...I have dreamed of it and, now, it happened. I am in !" Shara spoke up "I am one of the first person to step inside this castle in hundreds of years." She made a little victory danse around the hall before pulling out a sheet of paper "I have to make a sketch of this place."
While she was doing her work, I took a look around the place. Several doors were leading at different parts of the castle and a big staircase was leading to the first floor. Upon approaching the stars, I stopped dead in my tracks.
"Mickael...You feel it too, don't you ?"
"Yes." I responded "There is a strange atmosphere around here."
"Something terrible happened inside this castle." Notch began "The source of the magical remnants are coming from around here. I can't point out exactly where though."
I turned to the girls. Shara had almost finished her sketch and Vanessa was just looking bored to death as she was simply staring at the wall.
"Hey, girls, come over here !" I called them.
"Did you find something ?" Vanessa asked as she rejoined my side.
"Not yet, but I have a feeling we may find something in the upper floors of the castle." I responded, facing the staircase once again.
"Ancient book about this place told about a giant library. I would like to visit it before leaving." Shara replied, her sketch finished.
Now that we were all together, we climbed up the stairs and we arrived in a sort of junction with two corridors going right and left. The walls were in bad shapes and blocks in the ceilings had some cracks in them. Even walking on the ground was making cracking noises.
"So, where are we going first ?" The little cave spider girl next to me asked.
"I don't know..." I answered and looked at Shara "Do you have any idea where the throne room may be ?"
"No." She shook her head from left to right, looking at the ground.
I sighed and decided to go down the left corridor. I thought that, by always going left, we would surely arrive to the throne room at one point. I took a look outside from one of the window fences. There was a sort of little garden at the center of the castle which was probably full of childrens playing long ago. Now it had been completely overrun by nether warts.
"What exactly happened here three hundreds years ago ?" I asked myself as I continued on my way.
The two girls were walking a few meters in front of me, looking at the old and worn out paintings hanging in the hallway. Suddenly, Shara gasped and began to run toward one of the doors.
"I knew it would be here : The library." She said as she stopped in front of the entrance for a second before putting her hand on the handle.
"Hey, wait for us !" Vanessa told her but the little silverfish girl didn't listen. She almost burst into the room, breaking down the old iron door in the process.
Upon impact of the door, we heard a huge crack coming from the ground beneath our feet. The bocks were beginning to break down. The little girl stood there, paralysed by fear. The block disappeared and she would have fallen if it was not for Vanessa tackling her to the other side of the hole. A few meters behind them, I was standing on the other side. The ground in front of the entrance was now more. A five by five hole leading down below was now there. Gritting my teeth, I took a few steps and prepared myself for the longest jump I would have ever done.
"Are you sure you are going to make it ?" Vanessa asked with a worried look on her face.
"Yes, just step aside from the hole. I will need some space." I answered.
Vanessa did so and I began to run toward the hole. I planned to jumped on the last block so I would be able to reach the two girls on the other side but, like always, someone up there must have decided to screw me up because, as I was about to jump, the block cracked and disappeared, preventing me to do so.
"MIKE !" I heard Vanessa yell just a few second before I hit the cold ground down below.
"Damn, that hurt." I thought as I tried to get on my feet.
"Mike. Are you okay ?" The little cave spider girl asked. I looked up and I saw a small head peering out of the floor above. It seemed I had fallen 20 blocks or so. "Hang in there, I am coming." She added as she began to climb down the wall using her spider power.
"No, stay up there with Shara. I'll try to find another way. It shouldn't take long." I told her and she nodded.
That being said, I took a look around the room I had fallen in. I was in a sort of dark corridor surrounded by single lava blocks. There was only two exit to this place as there was absolutely no doors in this hallway : Go forward or backward.
"Where am I ?" I asked myself as this place looked like a completely separate part of the castle.
"Mickael...up ahead." Notch spoke up "The source of the remnant is at the end of this corridor."
"What ? Alright, I am on it." I responded.
I began to follow the corridor quickly, but carefully, there could be something with me inside but I didn't want to stay long enough to be certain of that. After a minute of walking, I managed to distinguish a small iron door at the end of the hallway. I slowly approached the door. Upon reaching it, I placed my ear on the door to check if anyone or anything was inside. Hearing nothing, I unsheathed Nightfall and tested the handle. The door slowly opened to reveal a dark room.
"It seems clear." I thought before stepping inside.
I entered the place and took a look at my surroundings. The room was big and the ceiling was quite high. Multiple worn-out paintings were hanging of the wall, showing, what looking like different persons. A pedestal was in the center of this dark room. My eyes widened and I found myself frozen in place upon seeing what was actually on it.
"Impossible..."
"Notch...Don't tell me it's what I think it is..." I replied.
Meanwhile, The library, Vanessa POV
"YOU IDIOT !" I slapped the back of that annoying bird-brained brat's head "IT'S YOUR FAULT."
Shara said nothing and, instead, kept staring at the ground, probably in shame.
"WHY DID YOU HAVE TO BARGE INSIDE OF IT LIKE A FREAKING HUNGRY ZOMBIE ? NOW, MIKE IS SEPARATED FROM US AND WE HAVE NO IDEA WHERE HE IS AT THIS MOMENT !" I yelled at her.
"..." I heard her mumble something with a such low voice that it could even compare to Andr.
"What was that ?" I raised an eyebrow. She sniffed a few time before she began to cry out loud
"I AM SORRY !" She shouted as tears were pouring out from her eyes "I...I didn't mean to...BWAAAAAAAAA !"
"Shut up, will you ?" I said, annoyed as I punched her head from above "What is done is done. There is no use to cry over it." I grumbled before adding "Plus, Mike has the gift to put himself into dangerous situation all the time. I am sure he will be fine."
The silverfish girl stopped crying and began to wipe the tears out of her eyes. Then I turn to the huge library behind us.
"Well, now that we are here...How about we try to find something useful for when Mike comes back to pick us up and get out of here ?"
"Y-Yes." Shara replied with a small smile.
That being said, we went straight to work...Well, Shara did since I couldn't read ancient Minecratian. I was trying to find some books which covers didn't look like novels and gave them to her. Then, she flipped through the pages of the book to see if there was something useful.
"Here, let's try this one." I handed her one with a map on it "It seems to be about their kingdom before its disappearance."
She took the book and looked at the first page before flipping through the book for a minute before gently placing it on the pile of books we already went through. She sighed before looking at me with excitement into her eyes.
"Yes, you were right. It was about the organisation of the kingdom. It's all written here in details. However, it doesn't say anything about what could have happened to them."
"Another waste of time." I sighed as she picked up the book and put it in her dress "What are you doing ?"
"I am taking it with me. This book holds too much information to be let to rot here any longer." She replied, deadly serious.
I rolled my eyes and wandered further into the library when something caught my eyes. On the other side of a bookshelf, I could see a desk with an opened book on it. I went past the bookshelf and approached the desk. I took a look at the book but sighed when I realized it was also written in the ancient language.
"Shara, can you come here for a second ? I think I found something important." I spoke up.
A few seconds later, the little silverfish girl arrived, running. She stopped next to me and I pointed the opened book. She took it and began to read it. Suddenly, her eyes widened and a bright smile appeared on her face.
"Vanessa...I-I think we have made the biggest discovery of the century." She spoke up, trying to contain her excitement.
"What do you mean ?" I asked with an eyebrow raised.
"This book, it's a journal. A journal which belonged to the head librarian himself before he died." She answered, waving the book in front of my face.
"So...What does it say ?" I pushed the book away.
"It's an entry...Number 47 to be exact." She said before clearing out her throat "It had been decided. The king is going to finally accept the deal. It could grant us power and made us invincible but, personally, I have a really bad fee..." Shara then stopped.
"Why did you stop ?" I asked.
"The rest is blank." Shara replied "Looks like he never had the chance to finish this entry before dying."
"What kind of deal is he talking about ? And with who ?" I looked at the page over her shoulder.
"I don't know. Let's go back a few pages." She replied before flipping back through the book "AH, entry number 21 : This morning, we received a message from a few of our scouts. It seems they found something while exploring an old mansion. There was no one inside and it seemed to have been abandoned for hundreds of years. They couldn't describe it clearly as they said in their letter they hadn't seen anything like this. Whatever they found, it must be something big."
She turned the page and continued with the story.
"Entry number 22 : Oh my Notch, I never expected this. The scouts came back with a big shining white gem in a shape of a cross. We had never seen anything even resembling what it was. It looked like quartz and gold but infused with magic. The king called the researchers to put this thing under investigations. It turns out this gem is far more than just quartz and gold. It is something far greater than that. Something that was only spoken of in old legends...A Nether Star."
Meanwhile, Under the castle, Mickael POV
"That surely ain't good." I shook my head.
A few blocks in front of me, levitating above the pedestal, a big white gem in a shape of cross was there...A Nether Star. Upon all the things I could there, I never expected to find the loot of a Wither boss here. However, the gem was shining like in the game. It almost looked like it lost all it's magic and power. There were also some parts of the star that was missing, creating holes a little smaller than the size of a fingernail.
"So...that's what you have done, brother ? Is that how you killed them ?" Notch spoke up inside of my head.
TO BE CONTINUED...Well then, the group found a Nether Star but...what does it have to do with the disappearance of the Nether Skeleton race ? Find out in the next chapter. So, as always PM or review to tell me what you think of the story : good or bad. And if you have any suggestion for the story, feel free to contact me. See you guys next time (^_^)/
