Chapter 40 : To war

Hello guys, Agithos here. No, this story is not dead, it never was. I had just a lot going on in my life which gave me very little time to write but now I am back here once again with another chapter. With that being said, let's go with the chapter.

The next day, Home, Cupa POV

"Blaaaarg !" I threw up before coughing up a little. I wiped my mouth with a piece of wool and inspected the puddle of vomit on the ground. I was outside my home, leaning against the back wall of our house. It has been almost everyday like this since a few days ago. Each morning, I would wake up with a big discomfort in my stomach which would ultimately lead me to puke moments later.

"What...What is happening to me...?" I thought as I tried to calm down "I hope I am not sick."

I heard the front door open and Hayden exited the house.

"Cupa ? Ah, there you a.. He stopped himself from speaking further. I don't know what kind of face I was having at this moment because he instantly raised an eyebrow and slowly approached me "Are you...alright ? You look kinda pale."

"Y-Yeah, don't worry about me. I was just taking a breath of fresh air." I lied. However, a second later, I received a flick on the forehead by my human boyfriend.

"Of course I am going to worry, you are my little cute creeper girlfriend after all." Hayden replied "You know...if you are sick, maybe it would be better if you stay here along with Vanessa."

"No, no...I-I am alright. I am already feeling better." I responded with a wide smile. It was true in some way, the discomforts in my stomach would go away only moments after throwing up.

Hayden kept staring at me with his hazel eyes until he sighed. I felt his hand on my head, slowly ruffling my hair.

"If you say so...but if there really something wrong, I want you to tell me, alright ?"

"Okie doki loki." I grinned.

Meanwhile, Home, Mickael POV

I woke up, feeling Ayumi's skin against mine. She was there, sleeping peacefully, her head resting on my shoulder and her arm on my torso. I could feel her chest slowly rising against me. I looked out the window and saw orange rays of light passing through the leaves. I passed my hand into Ayumi's beautiful grey hair. They were as soft as ever. Memories of last night flooded into my mind and I sighed.

"So we did it, huh..." I thought.

I couldn't help but feel guilty. I was conflicted about wanting to go back to Earth at the end but, there I was, making love to the skeleton girl I love. I felt like I betrayed her trust because if she knew the truth about that, then maybe we wouldn't have done that. She would have kept herself for someone she was sure to spend the rest of her life with.

"Mmmm" She moaned as I passed a hand in her hair before she slowly opened up one eye after the other.

"Wake up, sleepy head. It's morning." I replied "Let's get prepared before Blazette arrives."

"Alright..." She said after sighing. It was clear she didn't want to get up. She slowly sat up on the bed. I yawned and stretched my arms before I felt Ayumi hugging me from the side "T-Thank you for...you know...last night. I know it was selfish of me to ask you for something like that. I just...wanted you to know...I...liked it."

I chuckled awkwardly and turned around to face my skeleton girlfriend. She looked at me with her beautiful round grey eyes and I kissed her on the lips. However, she seemed to sense my worries.

"Mickael ? Are you alright ?" She asked.

"I-I am sorry..." I turned my head away from her. I couldn't bare to look at her in the eyes.

"For what ? Is something the matter ?"

"I...I haven't been honest with you..." I began "You see...before I came here, in this world. I had friends who cared about me, a home, a job and a steady lifestyle. However, here, I also have friends, I have a purpose in this world and, of course, I have...you." I said, sighing "That's...that's why I don't know if I want to stay here or to go back to my old world once all of this will be over as choosing one will mean losing everything on the other side." I continued as she listened to everything I said "I am sorry I didn't tell you about this sooner. Maybe then..."

"Mickael..." She interrupted me as she placed both of her hands on my cheeks and pulled me into a deep kiss "What makes you think I didn't know any of this ?"

"Y-You knew ?" I asked "Since when ?"

"When I understood you were forcibly taken you from your world to help ours...that you probably didn't want to come here in the first place. It's only natural you would go back to your own world." She smiled at me. "That doesn't change my feelings for you."

"Then, are you really alright with the fact that...I have...taken your first time ?"

"Yes." She responded before place her hand to her heart "I love you, Mickael, and nothing will change that fact. We are the same : I want you to stay here with me but I don't want to decide for you. Know that if you were to go back to your world, I will cherish all those memories we made together...It's...It's also one of the reason I offered myself to you." She finished as she blushed heavily.

"Ayumi..." I stared at her for a few seconds before pulling her into a tight hug "I am sorry."

A single tear rolled down my cheek and arrived on her bare skin. I felt her hand stroking the back of my head, just above my neck. Suddenly three knocks were heard on the door behind me as well as the voice of a familiar little girl.

"Hey, Ayumi ? Mike ? Are you awake ?" Vanessa called from the other side of the door.

"Yes, we are coming." The grey haired skeleton replied, letting me go.

She quickly got dressed and opened the door to find herself face to face with the little cave spider girl who was getting her hair ready for the day.

"Blazette sent one of her pigmen to tell us to prepare ourselves. She will come pick us up in a few moments, so get ready." Vanessa spoke up as I put on my iron armor. That being said, she closed the door of our bedroom and we heard her going downstairs.

"Well, let's get prepared so we can rejoin the others." Ayumi spoke up as she grabbed her bow and her quiver full of arrows.

"Give me just a minute." I replied. I picked up the few parts of my dismantled Five-Seven and began to reassemble it. "So, the barrel goes here, then the slide and...there we go." I thought as I inspected my firearm. I then put the magazine and loaded a bullet in the chamber. Ayumi was waiting for me in front of the door "I am done. Now, we can go."

I joined her side and we both left the bedroom. A little cave spider girl was leaning against the wall, seemingly waiting for us. Are was also there, sitting at the table with her head between her hands. She seemed to be in pain.

"Ari ? Are you alright ?" My skeleton girlfriend asked as she approached her spider friend.

"Aahh..." Ari groaned "Not so loud...my head hurts...I hate hangovers."

"You should have thought about that before drinking that much." Her little sister replied "Milk can suppress the immediate effect of alcohol but not the after effects."

"You don't have to twist the knife in the wound, sis..." Ari responded after groaning a little more.

A teleporting sound was heard next to us, I turned around and saw Andr, yawning a little has she was straightening her enderman hat.

"Morning everyone." She spoke up.

"Hey, how are you ?" I asked "Ready for the journey ?"

She simply nodded before I saw a friendly creeper girl's face peeking at the window with a massive grin on her face.

"HELLO !" She shouted from the other side. Vanessa rolled her eyes and walked to the glass blocks.

"YOU KNOW YOU CAN OPEN THE DOOR AND ENTER !" The little cave spider girl shouted back, earning a giggle from Cupa. She removed her face from the window and opened the front wooden door.

"It's more fun this way." The creeper girl entered with a grinning face, followed shortly by her boyfriend.

"Sorry, she wouldn't take no for an answer." He sighed, crossing both of his arms with his eyes closed.

A second later, Blazette appeared in the door frame, floating slightly above the ground, her rods slowly spinning around her. She was still wearing her red underwear.

"Hello, cold ones, I suppose you are ready to go." He spoke up.

"Yep, just let us have some breakfast first and we will be ready to go." Yaebi replied as he handed her a bottle of milk and a cookie "Want to have some ?"

"Yeah, why not...thanks..." The blaze girl replied she took the sweet pastry.

"So, who is going to be traveling with us ?" My skeleton girlfriend asked.

"Most men of the village is going to be there, as well as a few women who decided to fight. There will also be some iron golems and mobs that were living nearby and decided to join us. Since it will take two overworld days to reach the capital even through our Nether, we will go back to the overworld halfway through to spend the night at a safe outpost and gather more people. Then we will resume our journey into the Nether all the way up to the capital."

"Seems like it's pretty well organized." Hayden stated.

"You don't say, cold one."

"Anything we would have to be wary of ?" The hazel-eyed knight continued

"Nothing apart from the usual hordes of monsters roaming around the Nether and the overworld. Let's just hope there is no more pesky mutants than those we have already encountered so far."

"We already met a skeleton, a zombie and a creeper. Imagine if there was a spider mutant." Ari started to laugh with a wide grin on her face "Or even worse, an enderman mutant."

"Ari..." Ayumi sighed "This is no laughing matter, we were not even able to kill a single one thus far. Just the fact there could be more of them..."

"Ayumi, if you constantly think about the worst outcome, it will happen." Ari rolled her eyes "Your hair will become white before you know it." She then approached the skeleton girl and..

"Ouch." Ayumi winced in pain as she felt a strand of her hair being pulled.

"See ? There is one right here." The spider girl smile proudly.

"That's not white, Ari. It's my normal hair color." My skeleton girlfriend argued back.

"Yeah, right and my eyes are pink." The purple haired spider replied with a grin on her face.

"Ah crap...here we go again..." I sighed mentally.

"Cookie ?" I turned my head around to see Vanessa, a cookie in her hand and another one in her mouth. She seemed to enjoy the small argument between her best friend and her sister. Next to me, Cupa and Hayden were checking their equipement to make sure they hadn't forgot anything that could be useful. As for Andr, she was trying to end the fight.

"P-Please...don't fight." She tried to speak up but her voice was lost in the growing hubbub.

"Notch Damn it Ayumi, where did your confidence go ? Ari asked, visibly annoyed as she has her arms crossed and was frowning.

"I am confident but I also know not to underestimate an enemy that is stronger than us. It's not just some random bandits or mercenaries. It's a GOD !" Ayumi shouted as she said her last word.

"That is enough, cold one." Blazette interrupted them, casting a fireball in her hand "Take what you need and we will go to the village. Be quick, I think we are already late." She then inspected the room before noticing something "I don't see the last cold one...Yaebi. Do you know where he is ?"

"I think he left yesterday." Andr answered "He wanted to spend the evening with his wife and son."

"Well, I hope he had a restful night but, I don't know why, I somehow doubt it." Blazette grinned "I will wait for you outside."

That being said, Blazette left the house, leaving us all to prepare. I put on my iron armor and picked up my Five-Seven while Ayumi picked up her bow as well as some arrows. We then joined the young blaze girl outside.

"Are you all ready ?" She asked and we all nodded "Then let's go."

"Bye !" Cupa waved at our houses while wearing a bright smile on her face "We will see you soon."

Step by step, we walked away from our home and toward the village. We hoped it would not be the last time we were seeing them. A few minutes later, the high walls of the village were in view. As soon as they saw us coming, the guards opened the gates to allow us to enter. Inside the village, most men were armed with stone sword and were wearing leather armor or iron armor.

"Is that that sentient golem over ?" Hayden pointed at a familiar iron golem with feminine features carrying large double chest as if it was just a flower "What was her name...Eve I think ?"

"I guess Krystal should be nearby." Ari stated "I hope she is not angry at me anymore."

All around us, men and even some women of all ages were getting ready for war, getting ready to defend their right to live. A mother was crying, giving one last hug to her son while, on the other side of the street, a woman was kneeling in front of a child, patting his head and telling him she would be back soon.

"It's horrible when you think about it..." Cupa spoke up.

"Why is that ?" I asked her "Those people are willing to fight to protect who they love."

"Maybe...but...of all these people...how many do you think will come back home safely ? How many promises will be broken ? How many parents will receive a letter stating their sons or daughters were killed on the battlefield ? How many kids will lose their parents and become orphans ? That's what I find depressing in this scenery." She then finished, looking at the villagers with sad eyes.

"This is war and we can't do anything to change it." I replied "What we can do, on the other hand, is to end this one as fast as possible and make sure those who are killed don't die for nothing."

"Did you go to war in your world ?"

"Fortunately no. At least, not personally. Our countries did go to war numerous times in our long history though...mostly for stupid reasons...Conquest, religion, money. We are still at war but it's a lot different than yours."

As we continued to walk, we arrived in the center of the village, near the nether villagers were gathered there as well as a familiar zombie boy wearing a cloak to protect himself from the sun. Jade was standing near a horse in front of the village's nether portal.

"Well, that's our stop. I'll leave you here. Jade and I still have some things to discuss before we go." The blaze girl spoke up before floating away towards the chief's daughter.

"Hey Yaebi." Hayden spoke up as we arrived next to the cloaked zombie.

"Huh ?" He replied before seeing who was calling him "Oh, it's you guys. Took you long enough. I was starting to think you bailed out and left me to fight on my own."

"As if." Ari smirked before cracking her knuckles "I we don't come, who is going to kick that old god's ass ?"

"Us." A female voice spoke up from behind us. We turned around and saw Krystal walking toward us alongside her golem. Next to them was the rest of the group : Gaea, Eva, Ruby and Natasha "We are coming too."

"G-Gaea ?" Yaebi stuttered "Don't tell me you are going with us ?"

"As much as I would like to fight with you, dear." She sighed "If you and me die...Samuel would have no one left. I can't allow that to happen." She then approached Yaebi and pulled him into a tight hug "Promise me you will be careful, for my and Samuel's sake."

"I will." He replied as he returned the hug while Ayumi and I looked at Krystal.

"You are not going to be in the front line, are you ?" My skeleton girlfriend asked.

"No, not if everything goes at planned. Eva will be in charge of the enchantements, Ruby will take care of healing our wounded and Natasha is in charge of the food. As for me, I'll take care of the broken weapons and pieces of armor as well as maintaining Eve's shape so she can fight with you."

"So, you will mostly stay in a support role." I added.

"That's right." Natasha responded "You can count on us."

"VILLAGERS !" We heard Jade's voice calling from the Nether portal at the center of the village "It is time...brothers, sisters. We have to go. I hope you are ready because the fight before us will be anything but easy. We have to go to the nether so me can make it in time. We will stop at an outpost for the night and resume our travel the next day. Though I prayed all night for Notch to guard you from evil, I won't lie, our enemy is powerful and some of you may not make it. However, if you stay true to your desire to protect this world, you will see the dawn of light shining our victory."

With that being said, Jade climbed on her horse and went through the portal. One by one, the villagers followed her through the purple getway. We did the same and we arrived into the hellish dimension, just a little outside Blazette's castle.

"Oh boy, here we go again." I thought as I sighed.

The former blaze princess flew next to Jade and they began to talk for a minute, probably to decide which route was the safest. I could see a lot of villager just standing there, looking everywhere in awe. Being a villager, most, if not all, never went to another dimension. The younger ones maybe never even left their village.

"Hey look, what's that ?" A villager woman asked as she pointed to a yellow glowing block that was hanging high on the ceiling.

"I believe it's what they call : Glowstone." Another one answered

"It's beautiful..." The first one responded.

As we waited for instructions, Vanessa opened her bag and pulled out a book and skipped a few pages before stopping on one.

"I don't recognize this one. Where did you get it ?" Ayumi asked as she rose an eyebrow.

"From the emperor's castle, they had a library so I helped myself." Vanessa answered, not looking away "And before you hit me for stealing something, let me tell you I didn't. I simply asked to borrow it and they said yes."

"And when are you going to return it ?" Ayumi crossed her arms.

"As soon as I finish it...a couple of times." The little cave spider girl replied with a slight grin on her face.

My skeleton girlfriend simply sighed and walked away from Vanessa. I guess she didn't want to spend her energy arguing with the little brat. She rejoined my side and I felt her hand holding mine.

"Are you alright ?" I asked.

"Yes." She replied before looking far ahead "I am just glad that no matter the situation we are in, some things will never change." She then said, pointing at Vanessa who was now casually reading her book

"Did everyone pass through ?" Jade asked out loud.

"Yes." A man in his mid-forties answered "I checked before I entered the Nether. I was the last."

"Good. Then let's go." The brown-haired woman replied "We lost quite a bit of time already."

With that being said, our journey began. Blazette was flying high above us to have a better view of the way and to warn us if we encounter some monsters. Ari was in the back with her sister, Cupa, Andr and Hayden were covering the left flank. As for Yaebi, he was in the right side of the group alongside Eve and Krystal's friends. Ayumi and I decided to go in the front.

"Hey Jade." I spoke up and she turned to me.

"Oh, hello Mickael." She greeted back "I am glad you could all make it. Blazette told me she came here with you. I am sorry I couldn't find the time to welcome you in person."

"Do not worry about that. We understand." Ayumi smiled trying to reassure the chief's daughter "By the way, how is your father ?"

"He is doing good. Thank you for asking." Jade replied with a warm smile "Thank to Blazette, he recovered a lot faster than we anticipated. The potions she gave us were really useful."

"Then why isn't he there ?" I asked before immediately reformulating "N-No offense but I guessed he would have came alongside you all, since he is the current chief and all..."

"Not for much longer I am afraid." Jade sighed.

"What do you mean ?" Ayumi asked with a raised eyebrow "I thought you said he was doing fine."

"No, it's nothing like that." The brown haired woman replied "This morning, he told me he was proud of me for everything I had done for the village when he was bedridden. He said it was probably time for him to give the position of chief to someone else."

"So, you are going to be..." I began with wide eyes.

"Yes, as soon as we return back to the village, he wants to officially make me the new chief. He said he couldn't have hoped for a better successor."

"It's wonderful, Jade." Ayumi said after gasping.

"Yeah, and your father is right." I added "We can't say you did a bad job with everything going on."

"Thank you, it means a lot to me." She smiled before turning to the blaze princess that was floating above us "Blazette, do you see anything ?"

"Nothing for the moment." Blazette answered as she faced us "It dead out there."

"This is going to be long..." I sighed as I picked up a bottle of water inside my bag.

"It's not like you didn't do this before..." A voice I knew too well spoke up inside of my head.

"Well well well, look who is here..." I chuckled "It's been a while."

"It not like you asked me to not watch over you"Notch replied "I lost track of time and I figured you two would be done by now."

"Nooootch..." I growled menacingly as I could hear him snickering at his own joke.

"Hmpf...young ones these days...can't take a simple joke." He sighed "So, what did I miss ?"

"Nothing much." I answered "We woke up the next day, Blazette came to take us to the village and we entered the Nether with all the villagers you see through my eyes."

"Hmmm..."

"What is it ?" I asked.

"Do you hear that ?" Notch asked back, serious.

I listened up, trying to ignore the sounds of everyone talking and those of our footsteps on the hard red ground of this hellish dimension. For a few seconds, I couldn't hear anything until something that sounded like a growling came into my ears and it was getting closer. However, with all the ambiant noise, I couldn't recognize what was doing it.

"Jade, make the group stop." I said as I turned to her.

She raised an eyebrow but complied. The chief's daughter raised her hand and everyone stopped dead in their tracks.

"What's happening ? Why did we stop ?" I heard Ari shout from the back lines.

The growling came again, this time much clearer and, this time, I knew what was the cause of this.

"Blazette, come with me." I called her and she nodded as she floated next to me.

"You heard it too, did you ?" She asked me.

"Yeah." I answered "Jade, wait for us, we wont be long."

"Alright, be careful." She replied.

With Blazette and Ayumi at my side, we approached a small hill we would have had to circle around. The growling was much closer now, and there were multiples of them. The former blaze princess floated above the hill and I saw her eyes widening in horror at what she saw.

"What in the nether is that ?" She gritted her teeth.

Ayumi and I joined her side and we looked at what was making all these growls.

"I knew it..." I frowned.

In front of us, a massive group of zombie pigman were standing just behind the hill, seemingly waiting for us. They all had golden swords, some of them were emitting a faint light, meaning they were most likely enchanted.

"Blazette, can't we go around them ?" Ayumi asked.

"I don't think so, cold one." The blaze girl replied "or we would have to go back a few hundred blocks to try to find another way, and even then, we are not sure we would be able to rejoin the main road."

"I don't think it is going to be necessary." I spoke up "These zombie-pigmen are neutral. They should not pose us any threat."

"How would you know that ?" Blazette asked.

"Andr and I already met some when we were separated on our way to the magma cube's kingdom." I explained "They shouldn't even acknowledge our existence.

"Or, at least, I hope so..." I thought as one of them stared at me with his lifeless eyes.

Mfeanwhile, Herobrine's mansion, No one POV

"You called, Master ?" A tall black enderman with four arms bowed.

In the throne room, the old god was sitting on his throne, looking bored. In front of him, two of his beloved mutants were kneeling. The others : the skeleton, the creeper and the zombie were standing on the side of the room. As soon as they were called, the enderman and the snow golem had presented themselves before their master and father.

"Yes." Herobrine spoke up with his distorted voice "I have a mission to give to the both of you."

As soon as she heard that, the enderman mutant went on her feet and pointed at the snow golem.

"Master, could you please reconsider ?" She asked with her feminine distorted voice "I don't want to spend another mission at his side."

"Ooooh, Blacky is defying the masssster's orders." The creeper with the long neck laughed.

"Would you shut your mouth, you four legged freak ?" The black mutant glared "This doesn't concern you in any way."

"Enough..." The old god said calmly before asking "Tell me, why don't you want to ?"

"He is useless, can't you see it ?" She explained "He slows me down and he is not very powerful. More than once, he let survivors escape and I fully believe it's one of the main reasons master was forced to reveal himself this early."

"Then what do you wish to do ?" Herobrine asked.

"Let me go alone." The enderman replied "Let me prove to you that I can fully handle this mission on my own."

The other mutants and even her master seemed surprised at her proposition. Herobrine took a deep breath and seemed thoughtful for a minute. The enderman mutant was slightly anxious as the eyes of the old god was seemed to pierce her soul and the look on his face made it hard for her to know what he was actually thinking.

"Hmm...I don't known. I am not quite sure you are ready." Herobrine finally answered.

"W-What ?" The black mutant was surprised But...why, master ? Why can't I go alone ? In which aspect do I lack something ? I can teleport, I can smash a human's skull with only my bare hands like glass, I can render them blind." She then pointed one of her many arms at the mutant skeleton "Why can he go alone on missions ? Did you forget he failed his first on..."

"That's enough, you have crossed the line." The skeleton spoke up, loading the crossbow on his arms "Defying the master's orders are one thing but I will not tolerate you insulting him."

"It's alright..." Herobrine rose his hands in the direction of the crossbowman before teleporting in front of the mutant enderman, floating slightly above the ground to be eye to eye level with his children "So, you really want a chance to prove yourself ?"

"Yes, master." She replied, looking at her feet.

"Since you insist, very well. I shall accept your request." Herobrine replied "However, while you will do this mission on your own, he will still go with you and provide a support role if something goes wrong. Is that clear ?"

"Yes, master...I apologize for my insolence." The enderman replied, a little disappointed and annoyed she would still have the pumpkin head traveling with her. She then saw her master handing her a map "Is this where we will have to go ?"

"Indeed, gather your troops and make sure there is no survivors." Herobrine said with a serious voice. As soon as the black mutant took the map, the old god teleported back onto his golden throne.

"If you'll excuse me, master. I need to prepare my troops." The black mutant said before getting on her feet and leaving the throne room. One by one, the others did the same, speaking about how she stepped out of line, leaving only the old god and the mutant snow golem.

"What are you still doing here ?" Herobrine asked.

"Master ? Is it true I am that useless ?" The snow golem responded with another question "They all have very powerful abilities while I can only throw ice blocks."

"You are not weak compared to the other snow golems or even the humans and lesser mobs." He then sighed and put a hand on his forehead "However, it is true that I had higher expectations when I created you. I see now I should have probably created a spider or maybe a ghast mutant." The white mutant with the pumpkin head lowered his head in shame "Well, it's too late for that now. Go and follow her before she leaves to accomplish her mission. We will resume this conversation later."

"Yes...master..." The snow golem slowly went on his feet and walked out of the throne room.
