Ghost Of Days Gone By
Used To

Looking professional for the second week on job, Summer dressed in a mustard yellow blazer and pant set paired with a white tanktop and white pumps. Her long blonde hair was down in loose curls, her eye makeup done in gold with winged eyeliner, and her lips covered with nude lipstick. She completed the look with gold hoop earrings and her rose gold apple watch.

In her hands was an outline of her ideas that she had for the Edge and RKO feud. She would share the ideas with Randy to see how he liked them. She planned on letting him throw ideas out there too.

Adam wouldn't be at RAW this week, so hopefully this week would go smoother than the previous week. She wouldn't have to worry about her anxiety flaring up by being in his presence. If he only knew the effect he had on her.

She approached Randy's locker room and knocked on the door. The Viper opened the door and gave a friendly smile to Summer. "Hey, Summer. Come on in." He waved for her to come inside and he shut the door behind him after Summer entered.

"Hey, Randy." She sat down in one of the steel chairs. "How's everything going?"

"Great. Can't complain."

"That's good," Summer smiled. "I'm happy to hear that."

Randy smiled. "How do you like being the new Executive Director?"

"So far, so good. There has been one kickback so far…"

"Adam?"

Summer sighed. Much like with Hunter, Summer hated how Randy could read her like a book. Considering they were the best of friends and even dated at one point, it came as no shock that Randy knew what was up.

"I'm right aren't I?" Randy smiled triumphantly.

"Unfortunately."

"Summer, when are you going to get over the guy?"

"I thought I was over him. But when I saw him last week, all these feelings I thought dissipated quickly returned."

"I always wondered something… were you still emotionally clinging to Adam whenever you dated both Punk and I all those years ago?" Randy wondered. "You can be honest with me. It won't hurt my feelings because I'm happily married. I was just always curious."

Summer gagged at hearing the name of one of her exes. "Punk was literally a rebound for me." She started to reminisce about the man that was once known as The Straight Edge Superstar.

Flashback

Summer was talking in the backstage area with Punk. He was wrestling Chris Jericho for the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 28. It was kind of funny to be romantically linked to someone who once bashed her family on live television. But, the two of them had a lot in common.

Out of the corner of her eye she saw Adam talking with his girlfriend, Beth Phoenix. Speaking of them, they were inadvertently the reason why Punk and Summer even got together. Adam and Summer along with Punk and Beth just had major breakups. After hearing about Adam and Beth being an item, that led to Punk and Summer talking about their exes getting together, they became friends, then started having deeper conversations and realized they had quite a lot in common, which led to their current situation.

Punk was absently talking to her about something, but she wasn't really listening because all of her focus was on the couple standing not too far behind Punk. Her eyes eventually lingered onto them and she wanted to vomit. They were acting all couply and adorable and it was making Summer sick to her stomach. It was just four months ago he was acting that way with me. Summer thought to herself.

"Summer, what do you think?"

Summer immediately focused back on Punk. "I'm sorry. What?"

"I asked if you wanted to travel with me on my bus once the show is over?"

Summer nodded. "Sure."

"Cool." Punk started mindlessly talking to her about something else, but she wasn't listening. The attention of her focus was once again on the couple standing not too far behind them. Adam and Beth just shared a kiss and it took everything in Summer not to go over there and yank the hair of the current diva's champion.

"Bitch," Summer whispered under her breath.

"What did you say?"

Summer's cheeks flushed in embarrassment. "Nothing. Please continue on with what you were saying."

Lucky for her, one of the agents came to grab Punk for his upcoming match. "Want to walk with me?" Punk's head motioned towards the direction of where the gorilla was.

"Absolutely," Summer smiled. She walked beside Punk to the gorilla position. At least she didn't have to worry about seeing her ex and Punk's ex who was now her ex's current girlfriend.

End Flashback

"But, as far as you…" Summer pointed to Randy. "I genuinely had a fun time with you and didn't think about Adam whatsoever during that time we were together."

"I tend to have that impact on women. I make them forget about any other guy on Planet Earth," The Apex Predator smirked.

Summer rolled her eyes and kicked Randy's shin playfully. "You're full of shit." She could always look back fondly on her brief relationship with Randy. They shared some memorable moments.

Flashback

Randy had just cashed his Money In The Bank briefcase on Daniel Bryan. Summer felt adrenaline rush through her veins at her boyfriend becoming the new WWE champion. The new champion walked through the curtain and Summer beamed whenever she saw him.

Randy thanked everyone that congratulated him before approaching Summer. "How does it feel to be with a World Champion?"

"Fantastic!" Summer beamed. "Congratulations."

"Come with me." He motioned for Summer to follow him. "So, I'm going to get showered and changed and then we can go out and celebrate."

"That sounds like a fun plan."

"Anywhere in particular you want to go?"

Summer shook her head. "I am not deciding. You're the one who just won a world title...you get to pick."

"It'll be a surprise."

"That's code for you're not going to know until the very last minute."

Randy chuckled. "You know my habits."

"I've known you for a long time, Orton. I know quite a lot about how you function."

"Is that right?"

"That's right."

Randy and Summer stopped walking since they were in front of his locker room door. His blue eyes turned dark. He bent down and put his lips to her ear. "Be ready because tonight I am going to show you just exactly how I function." His breath was hot against her ear causing her to shudder.

"Okay," Summer breathed. She felt her cheeks go hot and heart start to race.

Randy opened the door to his locker room and he and Summer walked inside. He sat his newly won championship on the back of a steel chair. "You know… we could always start this celebration early…" He picked up Summer and carried her to the shower.

End Flashback

She and Randy had a relationship that involved a lot of sex, but she didn't mind it. That was what made their relationship so much fun. Randy was an incredibly good looking man, so that made it a million times better.

"Anyways…" Summer wanted to get to the task at hand. She handed Randy the sheets of paper. "Here are some ideas I came up with for your feud with Edge. I gave some bullet points of what you could say tonight when you accept Edge's Wrestlemania challenge."

Randy scanned through the papers and hummed. He was satisfied with what ideas Summer came up with. "I like these."

Summer beamed. "You do?"

"Yes," Randy assured. "I especially like the idea of how I'm turning all this around on Edge. It's genius."

"I really appreciate that. I tried to make it seem as realistic as possible."

"Vince finally made a smart decision by having you be the one to work alongside Adam and I for this feud."

"Thanks," Summer laughed.

"I want to tell you something: I know it's going to be hard to be around Adam, but don't let his presence affect your work. I think you're going to make one hell of an Executive Director of RAW."

"Thank you so much, Randy. It means a lot to hear you say that."

"No problem." He stood up and extended a hand to help Summer up. "I'm going to call the wife. I'll see you around." He opened the door for Summer so she could exit.

Back in North Carolina, Adam watched Randy's segment accepting Edge's challenge for Wrestlemania. When he was told that Summer would be the one to work alongside them for their feud, he was unsure, but hearing the dialogue, he was feeling guilty for doubting Summer.

She always had such a creative side to her. He often wondered why she wasn't named head of creative. Her sister Stephanie was awarded that, but Vince always seemed to favor Stephanie over Summer, so he wasn't surprised in the least Summer hadn't got that spot.

He'd remembered when Summer told him about all the ideas she had for his feud with Undertaker back in 2008. There were enough ideas to last throughout the summer.

Flashback

Adam opened the motel room that he was sharing with Summer. He finally had the nerve to ask her out on a date after he won the World Heavyweight Championship against Batista and Undertaker in a triple threat at Armageddon. Three months later, things were going good.

He just retained his World Heavyweight Championship against Rey Mysterio at No Way Out. It was a wonderful feeling to be able to walk into Wrestlemania 24 as one of the top champions. He had no idea who his opponent would be on the grandest stage of them all though.

When he walked inside, his eyes immediately landed on Summer, who had paperwork strode all over their bed. He laid his luggage on the floor and his title on a chair. He sat down on the edge of the bed and motioned to all the paperwork. "What is all of this?"

Summer lifted her head long enough to look at Adam so she could respond. "Outlines of a feud for you and Undertaker."

Adam's eyebrows furrowed. "I'm feuding with Undertaker?"

"Yeah. He's going to be your Wrestlemania opponent."

"Really?"

"Really," Summer repeated. "You and him never really had an important single's feud and it would make sense to continue the feud since Edge screwed over Undertaker at Survivor Series."

"How long is the feud going to be?"

"Right now, it's going to be until Extreme Rules, but I am going to see how I can extend it until Summerslam."

"Damn, that's pretty incredible how you have ideas that'll help our feud last that long."

"Thanks." She nodded to the papers. "Why don't you take a look at those outlines? I would love your opinion."

He grabbed the outlines and took a look. He was impressed with the vision Summer had for his feud with Undertaker. His onscreen relationship with Vickie was a key factor along with his allies: Chavo Guerrero, Bam Neely, Curt Hawkins, and Zack Ryder.

"What do you think?" Summer asked once she saw Adam was done looking.

"Impressive."

"You think so?"

"Definitely."

"Thank you," she smiled. "I really appreciate that."

Adam ran a hand on the back of his neck. "It feels really weird being able to see what my character is doing ahead of time."

"One of the perks of dating a McMahon," Summer laughed. "Just kidding. I am planning on showing Taker these outlines at the upcoming Smackdown taping to see what he thinks. This is my first time being in charge of sorts of a storyline, so I want to get all the opinions and ideas of the people involved."

"I have an idea…" Adam raised his finger.

"What's your idea?"

"We should call it a night with the work and celebrate the fact that I am walking into Wrestlemania as the World Heavyweight Champion." Adam crawled towards Summer and papers went flinging on the floor.

"Adam, my outlines!" There was a smile plastered onto her face the whole time she was seeing the Rated R Superstar crawl up to her.

The World Heavyweight champion didn't care. He placed his lips onto hers once he made it to her. The outlines could wait until the morning.

End Flashback

"What are you thinking so hard about?" Beth asked, entering the living room.

"Nothing important." Lie.

"Are you sure?"

"Positive."

"Since I have to fly out tomorrow for NXT, I was thinking we could go on a hiking date," Beth suggested. "What do you say?"

"Let's do it," The Rated R Superstar replied. "I could never turn down hiking."

He went upstairs to change his clothes to something more appropriate for hiking. When he opened the closet door, some random box fell down onto the floor. When Adam went to pick up the items that came out of the box, his curiosity peaked at a photograph turned backwards. He picked up the photograph and turned it around. His breath caught in his throat when he saw the portrait.

It was a picture from forever ago of him and Summer. It was a picture of them in the mountains. The picture was dated 10-05-08. He had taken some time off after Summerslam in 2008 along with Summer and they took a vacation trip to the mountains to rejuvenate. He thought he got rid of any memoriam with Summer, but it looks like he forgot one. This is freaky.

He put the photo back inside in the box, but at the very bottom. Nobody had to know that he wanted to keep that picture.
