CHAPT 12 - STARK GIVES A NEW NICKNAME
I hate Tetrys.
It's too distracting.
If I have a big space between updates, don't blame me, blame Tetrys.
Also!
My friend and I came up with the funniest thought.
You guys know Loki from mythology, some evil dude that tries to start Ragnarok and all that.
Wouldn't it be funny if they never meant to do anything that they did. Like the Norse would think they had some devious plan being the god of mischief. But what if like, Sif asked them to give her a haircut, and they just like tripped over and boom, Sif's hairs been cut off.
Or if they were just having fun and games with Hother, like, see how far you can throw the mistletoe blindfolded and then boom Balder dies.
I don't know it just makes it ten times funnier.
Anyways!
Loki Laufeyson POV
The next morning I made my way towards Perseus' room and knocked on the door before entering.
He wasn't there.
Right. Kitchen.
I heard him before I saw him. He was talking to his gods no doubt - laughing or giving them a snide retort.
I walked into the kitchen and he turned to me with his half smile. "Morning."
"Good morning to you as well Perseus." I headed to the coffee maker, and smiled when it started. "I was hoping... Well, I was hoping to talk to you about what Miss. Dare said a few days ago... If you would let me."
Perseus turned to me, his green eyes studied me for a second before that half smile returned. "You can talk while I make breakfast. But. Are you sure you want the Gods to listen?"
I cringed. "If they could refrain from listening just this once." He nodded.
"What he means is if you'd stop eavesdropping for like an hour of your immortal existence, it would be greatly appreciated." He grinned and turned to me. "Yeah they're gone."
I huffed a laugh and sat down with my coffee. "On Asgard. Well a lot of things happened that I'm not proud of. It started when I tried to delay Thor's coronation. He wasn't what he is now. He wouldn't have made a good king. So I let a few Jotnar into the palace."
"What're Jotnar?"
"They are a race of frost giants that live in the realm, Jotunheim." He nodded. "So they interrupted the coronation right before Thor was crowned. In his anger, he went to Jotunheim and, well he battled. I had been dragged along as well."
"Just you two? Against a whole world?"
"No. The Warriors Three and Sif were there as well. When we were back on Asgard, Odin banished Thor to Midgard. While he was there he met a woman, Jane Foster, and became the Thor you know today. A lot more humble. While he was gone, Odin told me that I wasn't his son. And Thor wasn't my brother. But the most heartbreaking truth was that Frigga wasn't my mother."
"Do you know who your family is?" He asked turning around.
I nodded. "My father was Laufey, a Jotun. I-" my voice cracked. "I am a jotun. A monster. The very thing Thor swore that he would kill."
"Loki." Perseus shook his head. "A monster isn't what you are. It's who you choose to be." I huffed a laugh. "I'm serious. My brother, Tyson. He's a cyclops but he is definitely not a monster. My dog Mrs. O'Leary? A hellhound. Not a monster. Ella is my brother's girlfriend, a Harpy. Not a monster. Briars. The Hundred Handed One. I see no monster there."
I took a drink from the coffee and used that time to remember everyone he mentioned. He was correct. "They left me to die. And Odin found me. But he didn't take me because he saw a child he could love. He took me for political purposes." A bitter laugh escaped my mouth. "I was just a pawn in his game. Odin didn't love me. Laufey didn't love me. Frigga ... I didn't know, but I didn't ask either, I was too afraid. I couldn't talk with Odin about it any more because he fell into Odinsleep. So I was left alone."
"And because of this, you had no one to help you through it." Perseus whispered.
"So through my temporary madness, I tried to destroy Jotunheim. I also sent the Destroyer to kill Thor because I was scared. He said he would kill every Jotnar and I thought I was no exception, so I struck first."
It looked like he was making waffles. Blue obviously. But the batter was complete and he was pouring some into the waffle iron.
"Thor made it back and he tried to convince me to stop. I didn't. I had ascended too far into madness, I was laughing as I did it." A tear fell from my eye. "In the end, Thor and I were hanging from the Bifrost, both holding onto Father's staff. I guess he had woken up in time to catch us. I heard Thor begging for me not to let go but I finally awoke into sanity. I saw what I had tried to do and what I had already done and I was so ashamed. So I let go and I fell into the void below."
Perseus stared at me, his eyes tearing up. "You didn't expect to survive that did you."
I shook my head and his chest heaved. "I fell for a long time. But when I stopped I was in an unknown world. It was beyond Yggdrasil's branches; that itself gave me a cold feeling. But when I saw them." I shivered. "The Chitauri. I knew I wasn't going to be handled with care but I didn't expect them to bring me before ..." I shuddered and looked around, half expecting him to appear if I said his name. "Thanos." I whispered. "The Mad Titan. He knew who I was and he thought that I would be the perfect person to use in taking over Midgard."
"What did he do?" Perseus asked, voice barely above a whisper. He had paused from placing the third Waffle onto the small pile he'd made.
"Well he asked me, to begin with. And when I refused, he used more ... convincing methods. I became so close to breaking at most points. So close to saying yes. But I didn't."
The demigod closed his eyes and steadied his breathing. "So how ..?"
"He came in contact with the mind stone. He placed it inside a scepter, and he made me grasp it. From there, I remember only fragments. Placing Clint Barton under 'my' control, and opening the portal to Midgard, letting in the Chitauri. As well as Stark offering me a drink." I frowned. "I don't understand why he would have made small conversation with me though."
Perseus snorted.
"It wasn't until The Hulk decided to give me the beating of a lifetime, did I break free from the stone's thrall. By that time I was being taken to Asgard to face punishment. Which sent me here."
"When the Chitauri were killed, did Thanos die too?"
"No. He's still alive."
"I'm so sorry that you had to go through all of that alone Loki. You didn't deserve that." Perseus looked down. "And I'm sorry for storming out when you weren't ready to tell me."
"Everything has been righted." I smiled back.
We were silent for a few minutes before Perseus finished making the waffles. He checked the clock on the wall. "There's enough time before the others wake up. For you to show me your Jotun form?" The question hung between us. After a minute I nodded and focused on shifting to my original form.
There was a gasp. I opened my eyes and I saw him jumping up and down like a child on Christmas. I frowned, confused. "What is-?"
"Your Blue! You didn't tell me you were blue! Oh my gods your beautiful!" I just stared at him. "Why do you hide yourself! I wouldn't."
"Well blue isn't his favourite colour." Clint's voice was heard from the entrance. I whirled around swiftly turning back. I saw almost the whole team. Thor looked giddy. Fear filled me.
"H-how much did you hear?"
"Hear? Nothing we just walked in on you Blue-boy." Stark smirked and patted me on the shoulder.
"Well just so your all clear." Perseus grinned "I've found my new favourite person."
So obviously no Gods React this chapter because they saw nothing.
How was it?
Votes would be appreciated.
