Sakura was nervous.
This would be her first day of kindergarten and she was already dreading it.
The kids from around her neighborhood and her preschool would always torment her for her features, and say bad things about her.
That her hair was an ugly shade of pink.
Her eyes looked like vomit.
Her forehead was too big.
Oh, yes. She was dreading the moment her parents would leave her at the door to her homeroom teacher.
And she had every right to.
She had thought the kids from preschool and her neighborhood were bad... but these kids were vile and downright cruel.
There was a blonde with dazzling blue eyes who became her number one bully.
Ino took pride in many things, and making Sakura cry was most definitely one of them. She practically patted her own back when she gave Sakura the nickname Billboard Brow.
It certainly stuck.
Then there was another blond with blue eyes that was nice to her in the beginning, quickly turned everyone against her after she offered to share her juice box with him at lunch by proclaiming that she had 'cooties', thus making all the kids in her class try to avoid her like the plague.
Kiba was a kid who was all sorts of rough around the edges. He was brash, outspoken, and loud. He also had no problems with starting fights with girls. He was saying that if he and his sister were able to wrestle around and she didn't cry about it, then so could they.
Sai was someone who was quiet, and mostly kept to himself, she thought he'd be someone who would be safe to be around. But when Sakura tried to talk to him after the whole 'cootie' incident, he was quick to throw paints at her. More specifically, her hair.
Chouji didn't want to eat with her.
Shikamaru said she was too troublesome.
Shino would rather collect bugs.
Hinata wouldn't even speak to her.
And Sasuke was just a jerk. He was quick to tell her that she was just as annoying as the rest of the girls when she asked if she could swing with him during play time.
Needless to say, Sakura left school that day covered in paint from Sai and bruises from Kiba's roughhousing.
This was not going to be a fun time for her whatsoever.
But she persisted. She came in to school everyday instead of making excuses or pretending to be sick, even though it crosses her mind every morning when she wakes up.
She would be stronger than them.
They wouldn't break her...
Right?
.
.
.
It was probably around four months into kindergarten that Sakura finally lost it. Ino and a few of the other girls were at it once again.
Telling her that she was ugly and started pushing her around, and knocked her to the ground.
That's when Sakura called them out.
"Didn't you say you guys wanted to be heroes!?" Sakura asked them from her position on the floor, looking up at Ino who had been the source for her torment since day one.
Claiming that since Sakura asked Sasuke to swing together on their first day, she must have liked him. Apparently that was a no go because Ino called dibs.
Not that Sakura cared, she actually didn't like him. Sure, she thought he was kind of cute but as soon as he called her annoying on day one, she got over it.
"Well duh forehead girl! What else would we want to be?" Ino taunted while pointing her finger at her.
"Well at this rate, you're all turning out to be horrible heroes. Heroes are supposed to save people, not bully them! You guys are more like villains!" They all gasped at Sakura's words.
Infuriated, Ino did what Ino does best.
Revenge.
Later that same day, Sakura remembers feeling an odd pulling sensation on her head, making her vision all fuzzy.
Five minutes later Sakura's vision comes back into focus, and she is utterly confused.
Her classmates around her are laughing at her, her teacher is looking at her with pity, and Ino looks smug.
"Sakura-chan, if you needed to go potty you could has said something." Puzzled, Sakura looks down and to her horror, she discovers that she peed her pants.
But how? She didn't even have to use the bathroom!
Also, she can't remember the last five minutes.
As everyone was laughing at her, Sakura noticed there was one who wasn't. Then it all clicked.
Ino had been bragging on and on for the last month that her quirk and manifested. It's the same one that gets passed down from her family, Mind Transfer.
That's why her mind went fuzzy.
That's why she couldn't remember.
Ino made her pee herself.
She tried to explain to everyone what happened, but she couldn't. Her words weren't coming out right. They were a jumbled mess.
Sakura's humiliation ran high, so high in fact that she felt tears begin to prickle at her eyes.
She couldn't take it anymore.
Just when her teacher was about to take her to the nurses office to change, Sakura ran out of her classroom.
Sakura ran away from the school before the end of the day, crying.
She ran until she could run no more and plopped herself down on a wooden stump in the middle of a forest like area.
Why?
What did she ever do to Ino or the others that made them do this to her?
She didn't know how long she was crying for, but at some point, she stopped. When she did though, she realized that she had no idea where she was.
But before she could even start panicking, she saw them.
Two boys.
Two boys that would change her life forever.
Just as much as she would change theirs.
