My name is Dr Mathew Keirats. I am the current leading expert in kaiju biology in the world. At the time of recording, it is September 3rd, 2021. I have come into possession of multiple tapes from different people living all across the world. Each one of these tapes record a different kaiju related event. The majority of these tapes have not been viewed by anyone other than me and their original recorders.

I am releasing these tapes to the public eye now, five years after the disappearance of the last kaiju, to ensure that humanity does not ever forget these titans and the destruction that they caused, that we may learn from our mistakes and prepare, should a second wave ever come.

This first tape was recorded in Tokyo in 1954 by two young children, and records the first ever documented kaiju attack. You would be hard pressed to find anyone who hasn't heard of Godzilla's destruction of Tokyo, but very little footage of the attack can be found. This is the longest recording that I, or anyone else, has been able to find.

"Give it back!"

"Nuh-uh, its mine!"

"Is not!"

"Can't you two just play nice?" Akane Hamato sighed in exasperation as she watched her two children fight over a small camera. The two had been fighting over the silly lump of plastic all morning and showed not a single sign of stopping. It was doubtful that they ever would today, as Akane had to leave them alone for now. "I'm going to work now, and I swear if I come back to one of you in tears again..."

"It was one time!" Ten year old Aiko complained. Aiko was the eldest of Akanes two children, and simultaneously the loudest. Aiko had a fascination with all things big and loud. His bedroom became a haven of monster figures as a result. His obsession had also led Akane to many sleepless nights.

"Do you really have to leave?" Her eight year old daughter, Himiko, asked. "You never leave us for work."

"I know, baby, and I'm sorry, but I've been called in earlier today. I can't help it," Akane replied. "The hospital needs more workers right now. Something about radiation burns."

"What's radiation?" Aiko asked, tilting his head inquisitively.

"I'll explain it to you once you're older, kiddo," Akane sighed. "Please play nice while I'm gone. It'll only be for a few hours, but I know how much mischief the two of you can cause."

"We'll be fine mum!" Aiko beamed. "After all, as the eldest, I'll be in charge!"

"That's what I'm worried about," Akane said as she opened the door and stepped outside her small apartment. "I'll be back before dinner. Love you two!"

"Love you two mum!" The two children yelled as Akane closed the door, leaving them alone in the apartment. Aiko looked down to Himiko's hand and saw that she had taken the camera from him while he was distracted talking to Akane. "Hey!" He said. "I told you that's mine!"

"Wait wait wait!" Himiko yelled as Aiko lunged towards her, falling flat onto the carpet as his sister dodged. "Why don't I film you playing with your monsters? You can't film yourself playing with them."

"Fine," Aiko sighed as he stood back up and patted the dust from off his shirt. "Guess you're right."

The two made their way to Aiko's bedroom as he picked up his various figurines, smashing them together as a child typically does. Himiko held the camera up to face the toys, but as the minutes dragged on, she became bored with the sights and sounds of plastic clashing against plastic.

"Can't we do something fun for once?" She asked, zooming in as the leg of one of Aikos monsters came loose and flew under his bed.

"What are you talking about?" Aiko replied, rummaging around underneath his bed for the missing leg. "This is the most fun I've had in weeks. You're the boring one."

"How am I the boring one?" Himiko said, offended as she centered the camera on Aiko not so carefully reattaching the creatures leg. She neglected to tell him that he was in fact reattaching the wrong leg however.

"Cause you're always playing with those dumb girlie figures," Aiko said matter of factly. "It's not a proper figure unless it can breath fire."

Before Himiko could reply, the conversation was interrupted by a series of loud screams. The children paused and looked towards the window, hearing multiple people scream and the faint sound of running. "What was that?" Himiko cautiously asked.

Aiko hesitated for a second before replying with "Probably just some dumb people getting scared over nothing. Ooo, or maybe its that radiation thing mum mentioned before!"

Himiko stared out the window in silence, more hesitant to so easily dismiss the sounds than Aiko. "I'm gonna go check the window anyway," She said. Aiko grunted in response, uncaring as his sister sat up and slowly made her way to the window. Aiko continued to smash his toys against each other, one losing an ear in the process, before a loud screech, not unlike a chunk of metal being dragged along concrete sounded from outside and a scream from Himiko brought him out of his day dream.

"What was it this time?" He asked before rushing to the window. He was about to ask what dumb thing made his sister scream before he saw the source of the screech. A small boat, one Aiko had seen plenty of times in Tokyo bay, was now sitting in the middle of their street. The road was scratched and chipped from where the boat had slid across it before stopping. A small pool of blood trickled out from underneath the helm, but Aiko didn't see it, on account of looking at something far more terrifying.

To the left of the building, visible standing in Tokyo bay, was a ginormous creature the likes of which Aiko had never seen. Pitch black in color with a series of long, unique, grey spines protruding from its back, the creature cut an imposing image into Aikos mind. Standing higher than most buildings and with a stare that seemed to penetrate Aikos soul, the creature reared its head up and opened its mouth, letting loose an ungodly screech of pure anger and malice, louder than Aiko even thought was possible.

The creature held the roar for five seconds before looking back down and fixing its gaze over Tokyo. One of its colossal legs lifted up and slammed back down into the ground, the Earth itself shaking as it moved closer and closer. Aiko and Himiko were frozen in a state of pure terror as the creature completely left Tokyo bay, standing for the first time on solid land and beginning to move towards a row of buildings.

Thankfully, it was not the row that the children's building was in, but that did little to spare them from hearing the screams as Godzilla plunged its arms and claws into the building, cutting through steel and stone like butter and collapsing an entire apartment building in instant. Blood stained the pavement below as the debris of the building rained down among bystanders. The cacophony of screams and running footsteps was drowned out as Godzilla once again roared before clawing at another building, cutting perfectly horizontally and toppling the building in one fell swoop.

Red liquid dripped onto Godzillas arms as he made his way through a city street, swiping and clawing at every building he passed. Debris rained and apartments fell as the creature continued its relentless rampage, showing not a shred of mercy as devastation was left in his wake. The buildings he did leave behind were not spared from his destruction either, as his tail swung left and right and cut deep into stone and rubble, never sparing a single life. It was when Godzilla finally came to the end of the street, reaching a building that Aiko recognized all too well that he finally spoke.

"That's mums hospital," He said weakly.

Godzilla did not seem to hear him, or at least did not care. The colossal monster once more opened its razor maw, unveiling rows of hyper sharp teeth. But to Aikos surprise, the monster did not claw at or cut through the hospital. It did something so much worse. The creatures long spines that ran across its back began to faintly glow blue, brightening ever so slowly until it became a blinding mass of blue energy. Even before the attack was unleashed, the rubble and buildings around Godzilla began to melt in the presence of his radioactive energy, and Aiko couldn't bear to think about people nearby the creature. The mesmerizing display reached its climax as Godzilla screeched his ungodly roar again and unleashed a beam of pure atomic energy down upon the hospital. The beam cut straight through, and something inside must have ignited as parts of the hospital exploded.

Aiko and Himiko's screams did little to stop the creature as his great beam demolished the hospital, concrete effortlessly being vaporized to make way for the blast. In less than ten seconds, the hospital was a smoldering, blackened mess of a ruin, a crater adorned with ash where the great building once stood. Himikos great sobs echoed around the room as Godzilla continued the attack, aiming at the buildings that surrounded the once hospital. Atomic energy sheared through the buildings with ease, the tops sliding down onto the ground like an enemy in Aikos favorite samurai movies.

Finally, once all of the buildings within his reach had been completely and utterly destroyed, Godzilla closed his mouth, cutting off the atomic beam at once. Looking for a few seconds at the wreck, Godzilla took in the damage that he had caused, before walking forward towards a new row of buildings to continue his destructive rampage anew. Himiko slid down against the wall, tears streaming down her face as she comprehended what had just happened. Aiko was no better. His eyes obstructed with tears, he took one look at the monster toy he held in his hand and threw it as hard as he could out of the window, the throw accompanied with a scream of anger.

In a fit of rage, Aiko tore through his room, tearing down posters of classic sci fi monsters and throwing every figure he had out of the window. As he became a whirlwind of fury, tearing through his room in anguish to demolish anything monster related, his tantrum was accompanied by the distant sound of Godzillas screeches and the sounds of buildings tumbling. When there remained no more figures in sight, Aiko stopped, panting heavily as he collapsed onto his bed, clutching at his sides as he fought back tears. The siblings stayed in these positions for minutes, listening only to the sounds of Godzilla's destruction, before Himiko finally spoke up.

"We have to go, Aiko. We can't stay here."

"I don't want to leave."

"I don't either. But we can't stay. Not with that t-thing out there." Himiko stood up and made her way to the door, making her way to leave before turning back to Aiko. "Come on Aiko, we have to go."

"But... this is our home."

"But we'll die if we stay! We don't have a choice, Aiko."

"How can you just leave? We live here! Mum lives here! I...I don't want to go."

"And I don't want to either. But we can't stay. It'll be fun, Aiko. We'll get to live off the land, survive by ourselves! Don't you always say you wanna go camping?"

"Fine. I-I'll go." Aiko hesitantly got up, sparing one final look at his now relatively empty bedroom before closing the door. The siblings solemnly made their way to the front door, giving everything in the apartment one final look, leaving everything to memory. They exited through the front door and found every other door on the flat ajar, everybody else seemingly having left minutes ago.

The two agreed to take the stairs, and the long walk down was down in a foreboding silence, neither being able to find anything to talk about. After a minute or so of walking, they reached the bottom and entered the lobby. The lobby was a sorry sight to see, the glass of the entrance smashed as a car had apparently driven through it before smashing into a pillar, the driver now sprawled out on the cars bonnet, blood covering his head as the children turned their eyes to avoid the scene. Leaving the building altogether, the children finally took in the sad state of Tokyo in its fullest.

Rows upon rows of buildings had been squashed, crushed and scythed by Godzilla, rubble littering the streets and smoke billowing up from multiple different areas. The kaiju in question could be seen in the distance, the creature now on the other side of Tokyo, its atomic breath visible demolishing Tokyo Tower as fighter jets desperately circled it and let out barrages of bullets and missiles, the creature never even once flinching. As Aiko and Himiko observed the scene, a loud noise from behind caught their attention. Twirling in place, the children caught sight of a lone military troop transport vehicle maneuvering through the wreckage. Excited, the kids yelled into the air and waved their arms, catching the vehicles attention as it pulled towards them. As it stopped, a soldier dropped down, a rifle strapped to his chest and dust and sweat coating his face.

"How the hell did you kids make it out here?" He said. "I'm Yashiro, and we're the evacuation effort here. You kids with anyone?"

Aiko and Himiko shook their heads with a sad expression and the solider grimaced, aware he had sprung a nerve. "C'mon kids, lets get you the fuck out of here. The trucks full anyway now, so we were just about to leave. You're lucky we spotted you."

As the two children clambered into the back of the truck to meet other similarly battered looking civilians, Yashiro motioned for the driver to start moving, and the truck began to drive slowly, navigating through the rubble. As they finally left Tokyo, Aiko took one final look at Godzilla, the monster who had now stolen his entire life. Too tired to feel the hatred he wanted to, Aiko simply shut his eyes and rested his head against his sisters shoulders, as Himiko finally shut off her camera.
