Erin sat in the taxi, it felt like forever but finally she pulled up in front of the place she felt the safest. It was always what she called home, she just hope that was still the case.

She pulled some money and and paid the taxi driver, thanking him as he helped her grab the bags out of the back. Then she slowly made her way to the front door, she stood there for a few seconds then rested her hand on her bump, "It's all going to be okay little one, I promise."

Taking a deep breath she knocked and waited, she couldn't hear the foot steps as they approached the door, once it opened she remembered how much she missed him, he was her family.

"Hey Hank." Erin said as she smiled faintly, watching the shock on his face fade as he stepped closer and took her in his arms, embracing her in a warming hug.

"Erin, god I have missed you." He said close to her ear as he continued to hug her, once he pulled bag he looked down and then back up at her inviting her in, getting out of the cold.

After Hank had made them some hot chocolate they sat in the living room, she wasn't sure what he was going to say but she knew no matter what he'd be there for her, he always was.

"So, I guess congratulations are in order then." He smiled as he grabbed her hand and squeezed it.

"Yeah I guess so." Erin shrugged, her head falling slightly.

"Is it Halstead's?"

Erin nodded, her head fell even more when she started tearing up. Hank got up and moved towards her, kneeling in-front of her to calm her, "Hey, what's going on?"

"I stuffed up, I don't know what I'm doing here. I thought I was strong enough to do this but seeing you just makes me realise how hard it's all been."

"You needed to get out Erin."

"Yeh but...that was before this." She said abruptly as she pointed towards her baby bump.

"How far along are you?" Hank questioned.

"8 months, I found out not long after I arrived in New York, trust me I was planning not to look back, just like you said."

"I'm sorry if I made you feel like you couldn't come back, I wish I knew about this sooner so I could have been there for you." Hank said resting his hand on Erins back, doing his best to comfort her.

"It's fine, I wasn't alone. I got in contact with Benson, I needed to talk to a familiar face, she was the closest thing I had to a friend." Erin smiled.

"Well I'm glad." Hank paused, "So what now? I'm assuming Jay doesn't know?"

"No and I don't exactly know how to tell him, I mean I don't even know how'd he'd feel about it all, we never once really spoke about having kids, you know before everything."

"Well all you can do is tell him and talk it over, he has a big heart, I think no matter what he will be there for you and the baby." Hank smiled.

"How is he?" Erin questioned with curiosity in her eyes, Will had said he'd been in a bad place so she wondered if Hank had and idea.

"Uh, better now. But you should know Erin he really didn't cope well with you leaving."

"What do you mean?" Erin was now worried, what had she done. She knew after she left without a word it was wrong but it was too late to change things.

"Firstly he accidentally shot a little girl, long story but she didn't make it, from there it just opened up Pandora's box and that's when the hole just kept getting deeper and deeper. He got caught up in an undercover case, bringing up old memories from his time in country. He was a different person, still he done his job but in the end it all caught up with him. He put the unit at risk but it all worked out thankfully. After that he was benched for a couple weeks and he saw a psychiatrist, but he is doing better now." Hank explained to her, not knowing why, it wasn't exactly his place but he felt that if she was pregnant with his kid she needed to know everything, no secrets.

"Oh my god and know I come back with this news, he's going to hate me." Erin said rubbing her eyes trying to prevent herself from crying, she had let him down after the whole time they knew each other they always promised to have each other's backs, she'd let him down.

"Erin he doesn't hate you, he was just hurt and his version on moving on wasn't the best but your back now and for something far more important then what happened in past, you are both just going to have to deal with whatever you need to for that little one." Hank said as he rested his hand on Erins bump.

"Your right, as always. I just have to work out how I'm suppose to tell him."

"Do you want me to pull him aside and say your in town? That you want to see him?"

"Yeah maybe, that's not a horrible idea. I just really don't want to turn up on his door step 8 months pregnant, don't think that will go down very well." She paused and looked up in shock, "God I don't even know where he lives, I don't know what I was thinking."

"Don't worry, I will talk to him. I won't say anything about the baby but I will get him to contact you." Hank assured her.

"Thanks Hank, seriously for everything." Erin smiled as he cupped her cheek, tell her how proud he was, shocked but proud.

"So I guess the reason your here is you want to stay?" Hank chuckled.

"Sorry, I can stay in a hotel. I just didn't know and..."

Hank interrupted her, "Erin it's fine, it's your home too, you don't have to ask. Now go get some sleep."

Erin got up, grabbing her bag she started walking up the steps, she turned back to look at Hank, "Thanks, I'm glad to be home."

"I'm glad your home too. Wait, what about work?" Hank quickly said, completely forgetting to ask.

"Maternity leave, I told them I was coming back after the baby came but I haven't put anything in concrete." She replied.

"Okay, well we will work that all out when we need to, night."

She smiled, "Night."
