Today was the day they had to go back and see how things were with the baby, she was now 36 weeks and ready for it to be over. They had been living together for the last week, Erin didn't see too much of Jay which was good for her, he was either working or sleeping. But when they did all she could feel was sexual tension, the pregnancy hormones certainly weren't helping.
Jay told Erin he'd pick her up after she said she'd started to become uncomfortable every time she got behind the wheel. He never thought he'd heard the words 'I can't drive' coming out of her mouth, but he was thankful that she was leaning on him, that's what he was here for.
One the way to the hospital they made small talk, Erin asked Jay what they were working on, she needed something to talk and think about rather then the baby, that's all they really spoke up these days.
They sat in the waiting room, Erin kept moving her hand over her bump and she was pulling faces, Jay could tell that she was uncomfortable, "Er, you okay?"
Erin looked up at him, she smiled he called her Er, that's what he called her when they were together but she just shook it out of her mind, it meant nothing.
"Little peanut is going crazy today, must have been the spicy food we ate last night." She frowned.
Jay smiled, the one thing he still hadn't done was felt the baby kick, he didn't want to rush it and it was such a personal intimate thing, "Erin do you mind if I?"
"Oh of course Jay, sorry I never thought about it otherwise I would have asked if you wanted to already, sorry. Come here." Erin smiled as she grabbed Jays hands, putting them on her bump, his eyes lit up when he felt the kicks and movements.
"Wow, this is amazing." Jay smiled.
"Not amazing when it's on your bladder and in the middle of the night." She chuckled faintly.
"Still not sleeping then?" Jay frowned, feeling sorry for her.
"Not really, but's it's okay it will all be worth it."
After a couple minutes they were called into the room, Erin once again got comfy on the exam bed pulling her top up over her bump. The doctor put the gel on and done the ultrasound, "Alright so, the baby is still breech."
Erin sighed, Jay rested his hand on her shoulder for comfort as they continued to listen to the doctor.
"So the bigger the baby gets the less space it has to flip."
"Okay so what can I do? I really want to avoid a c-section if I can and a version." Erin said looking towards Jay to explain.
"A medical procedure to turn the baby, " Jay said, Erin smiled and was shocked that he knew, "I read up on it when we got told the baby was breech."
"Got yourself a good one here Erin." The doctor smiled as she looked towards Jay, he smiled and squeezed Erins shoulder once again, she appreciated it.
Erin smiled awkwardly as the doctor helped her wipe the gel off, once Erin was cleaned up they went to the her desk to talk.
"Okay so as I said everything's fine but we want to get that baby turned around so here's some at home techniques that can help," she said passing Erin and Jay a brochure, "I can't promise they will work but I do recommend trying, nothing will hurt."
"Thanks doc." Erin and Jay said in sync.
"No worries, okay you three I will see you in 2 weeks." The doctor said, Erin and Jay thanked her and left.
As they were driving back to Jays apartment Erin was going through the brochure that they were given, "Okay so I pretty much just need to start doing a lot of yoga, yay."
"Not a fan of yoga?" Jay smirked with a raised eyebrow.
"Not really, but I guess I will try anything. It also says acupuncture and there's several poses that I should do each night so you can't laugh at me when I'm leaning on an iron board on the lounge," Erin said looking over at Jay who was trying to prevent himself from laughing at the thought, "I'm serious Jay!"
"No it's fine, sorry. What else?" Jay asked, trying to get the image out of his mind, all he could think about was him and Erin on the lounge and not in a PG way.
"Music and temperature." Erin shrugged.
"What, how?"
"Like place a speaker at the bottom of my uterus, hopefully the baby will be encourage to follow the sound or place something cold at the top and something warm at the bottom so it wants to get to the warmer spot." Erin explained.
"Interesting."
"Yeah you can say that, too bad it's freezing because they say swimming helps too."
"There is always heated pools inside Erin."
"And feel like a beached whale? No thanks." Erin said bluntly as she kept reading, Jay knew he had to keep a straight face, annoying her would not help right now.
"Well look, I have tomorrow off how about we go to yoga together? It can't be that hard." Jay said trying to sound tough.
"Seriously, you'd do that? It's not too feminine for you?" Erin said giving him a strange look.
"Yeah sure, anything I can do to help."
"Thanks Jay."
