At the district everyone had just come back from a crime scene, they were all debriefing when Trudy ran up the steps, they all stopped to look at her, this was one of the very few times they'd ever saw Platt this worried and shook.
Hank looked concerned as he paused what he was saying, "Trudy what's going on?"
"Erin just called the district, she's been trying to get ahold of Jay, she's in labour." Trudy said as she watched Jay check his phone.
"Goddam, my phone was on silent," Jay looked at Voight, who nodded for him to go, "Thanks sarge."
"Call when you know anything, when it's time we will be there." Hank yelled as he watched Jay grab his things and run down the stairs.
As Jay ran down the stairs he dialled Erins number.
"Finally! Where the hell have you been."
"I'm so sorry, my phone was on silent and we were on a call. Anyway that doesn't matter now I'm on my way home, you okay? How long have you been having contractions?"
"Uh, well I had been having one every ten minutes but my last one was eight minutes apart, so still no time to panic."
"Either way I'm coming home. I want to be there for you, I will see you soon."
"Okay...Hey Jay?"
"Yeah what's wrong?"
"I'm glad I came back and I'm glad out of anyone I'm doing this with you."
"Me too Erin, me too."
Jay drove as quickly as he possible good to get home, he rang Will on his way, he knew he was off and he wanted him to come check on Erin. Even though he knew it wasn't time to go to the hospital he still needed to know everything was going fine.
Once he got to their apartment he met his brother at the doorway, "Oh hey you got here faster then I expected."
Will laughed, "I just got off from doing overtime so your lucky I came here for you, why not go to the hospital?"
"You know what Erins like she won't go to the hospital until it's completely necessary." Jay chuckled as they stepped into the elevator.
"So you nervous?" Will asked.
"Shitting myself."
"Well just do the complete opposite of what dad did and you will be great," Jay rolled his eyes at his brothers comment, "Seriously your going to be a great dad, Erins lucky that she has you."
"Yeah she said that on the phone."
"And you still don't want to be with her?" Will raised his eyebrow.
"You know I do, I love her but we have to think about the baby not us."
"Oh my god Jay, stop trying to use that as an excuse. You love her, she loves you so don't let anything get in the way. You already lost her once."
Jay patted Will on the shoulder as they got to his front door, "Thanks bro but right now I don't need advise I just need you to be a doctor."
"Righto then, let's do this."
As they walked in they both saw Erin leaning on the kitchen counter, Jay rushed over to her and held her hands, she continued to squeeze them with everything she had. He knew she was strong but this was something else, is this how it felt to be on the other side when she was arresting a suspect?
"Erin just breath it's okay, nice and easy." Jay said as he rubbed her back, finally he could tell she was starting to relax.
"Hey Erin, how you feeling? How far apart are your contractions?" Will said, as they helped her over to the lounge.
"Will what the hell are you doing here?" She said giving Jay a stare.
"Jay wanted me to come check on things. So?" Will said, he knew she was pissed at Jay but he knew she'd soon get over it.
"About six minutes now." Erin said quietly, she was already exhausted and she'd only be in labour for less then an hour.
"Jay I thought you said it was eight minutes?" Will looked at Jay confused, he shrugged.
"Okay Erin, seems that things are happening a lot quicker then usually so we should probably get you to a hospital. Has your water broken?" Will asked as she shook her head yes.
"Come on Erin, let's get you up." Jay said as he carefully lifted her up.
"Jay can you grab everything, it's all in..."
"I know Erin, just focus on you I have everything else sorted." Jay said as he left Erins side to go get everything.
Suddenly she was having another contraction and because Jay wasn't close by she latched on to Will, "Ahhhhh!" She screamed as Will winced a little in shock.
"Nice easy breaths Erin," Will looked at Jay and smiled, "Well this is happening a lot quicker then anticipated."
Both the brothers held Erin as they stood either side of her, they quickly but carefully made there way to Jays car.
"Will you drive." Jay said as he chucked Will the keys.
"No Jay you drive, because I need to keep an eye on her and I know you will get us there quicker." Will said chucking him back the keys as he helped Erin in the car.
Erin couldn't focus on anything but the pain, she could hear Jay and Will trying to coach her breathing and she could hear the sirens going on Jays car but she couldn't focus, she just wanted this pain to be over with. Suddenly she felt the car slow down and Jay start shouting.
"Far out!" Jay said as he slammed his palms on the steering wheel, "Will, Erin how we doing?"
"Uh, I think the baby is coming." Erin said in shock.
"Okay Erin I need to have a look okay?" Will said grabbing a blanket, and pulling down Erins pants, "Okay Jay, I need you to help me. We are having this baby here."
"What!" Erin said worries and started shaking her head, "I can't have this baby here, not like this!"
"Hey Erin it's going to be okay, Will knows what he is doing." Jay said as he squeezed Erins hand, quickly getting behind her to support her.
"Okay lay her down, Jay you stay behind her to support her." Will said giving Jay instructions.
"Okay, Erin I can see the baby crowning," Will smiled as he looked up, "I'm going to need you to push when you feel the next contraction okay?"
Erin shook her head, tears started rolling down her face, "I can't do this, I can't do this."
Jay turned her face slightly so he could look at her, "Erin, yes you can. It's just you and me okay? I love you Erin and I know you can do this, so come on."
Erin smiled and started nodding, "Okay, okay."
"Okay Erin, push." Will said as Erin started getting another contraction.
Erin started yelling and pushing, "Erin your doing great, really good." Will said.
"Oh, god!" Erin yelled.
"I'm just going to need one more little push okay? One more little push." Will said as he nodded to Jay, this was it.
"Okay." Erin said as she started screaming again.
Suddenly it was like nothing else existed in the world but their baby, she forgot they were in a car, she forgot that they were stuck in traffic, she forgot everything when she heard the sound of a their baby's cry.
"She's out, Erin, she's out." Will smiled as he cut the cord and wrapped the baby in a blanket.
"She?" Jay said shocked and relieved, he couldn't believe it. He was now a father to this tiny little human.
"Congratulations you two, you have a daughter." Will said as he passed the baby to Erin.
She couldn't help but cry, in that moment all their problems were gone, they didn't matter anymore, Jay looked down at Erin and their baby girl, "You did amazing Er."
"Thankyou, both of you." Erin said as she smiled and continued to look at her baby in awe.
"Let's get the two of you to the hospital now. What do you think?" Will said as he got out and made his way to the drivers seat.
"Hey Jay?" Erin said looking up into his beautiful green eyes.
"Yeah?"
"I love you too." Erin said as she smiled, Jay returned the smile as he slowly moved his head down to kiss her, it was that moment that they knew they were going to be okay. The three of them.
Thankfully Will had called ahead to med so as they were pulling up, nurses and doctors were waiting for them.
Erin passed Jay their daughter as she got up onto the gurney. She was in pain but she didn't care, that didn't matter anymore.
Natalie held her arms out for the baby as she watched Jay, "I don't want to let her go."
"Jay it's okay." Natalie smiled as she watched Jay gentle place the baby in her arms.
Suddenly then, Natalies face turned to Will, April and Maggie, "Baby's turning blue."
"What, what's going on?" Jay said worried as Will held his brother back.
"Jay!" Erin said concerned, quickly Jay ran over to her and squeezed her hand.
Natalie started observing the baby and then they all started moving quickly as they took their baby away, "Respiratory distress, meconium aspiration."
"What's going on?" Jay yelled as he watched Natalie rush off.
She turned back to look at him, "Lungs aren't absorbing oxygen."
"Jay, what's going on?" Erin said still worried as she watched Jay rush off behind them to get more information.
"Call respiratory and let peds know we're on our way, NOW!" Natalie said to Maggie who quickly got on her phone to call up.
Erin couldn't do anything but lay there concerned and worried as they rolled her into the ED. Jay had gone with Will to find out more. As she was getting rolled in she heard more sirens and familiar voices, it was her family, her team.
"Erin!" Hanks voice echoed through the whole place.
"Hank I don't know what's happening." Erin said as she continued to cry, he placed his hand in hers and gave it a squeeze.
"Everything's going to be okay, we're all here." Hank said, as he walked into the ED with her, everyone else taking their seat in the waiting room.
Jay was with Will and the others as he watched them attach cords and machines to his daughter, it wasn't long before they were rushing off with her again, stopping Jay at the door, "Will!"
"Jay, I promise. We are going to do everything we can." Will said patting his brother on the chest before rushing off.
