Today was the day Erin was dreading, Lillian was now six weeks old which meant vaccinations. Erin knew that it was going to be a tough day, she hated the fact that she was going to witness her daughter in so much pain and not be able to do anything. Jay tried to reassure her and say it would all be fine but he knew himself that witnessing their daughter in pain would make her break, he hated the thought aswell.

Erin sat comfortably on the couch snuggled with Lily, she had just finished nursing so she was letting Lily settle.

She felt the back of the couch sink in as Jay leant down to their level, he kissed the side of Erins cheek as he passed her a glass of Oj.

"You can definitely tell shes yours, she has the brightest green eyes." Erin said admiring their daughter.

"She's going to be a mini you though and god help me then." Jay chuckled.

"So you sure your going to be there for her appointment? I don't know if I can handle it by myself." Erin said sadly.

"Yes I will be, Hank knows so he isn't sending me on any errands if they are around the time of the appointment, he knows how on edge you are."

"It's just she has no idea what's coming, I feel so bad." Erin said standing up to go out Lily in the rocket that sat on the living room floor.

"She's going to be fine, you on the other hand need to take a deep breath." Jay said massaging Erins shoulders.

"I also have an appointment beforehand too."

Jay raised his eyebrows, "Oh really, do you need me to be there for that aswell?"

"No I think I can handle it, but I will need your help afterwards hopefully." Erin said raising her eyebrow hoping Jay would get where she was going.

"Oh that I can definitely help with." Jay said walking over to kiss her.

...

Erin was starting to get nervous, the doctor had checked over Lily. Everything was good, nothing to worry about. She was a very healthy six week old. Now it was the time she was not looking forward too and she wondered where the hell Jay was.

"Okay I'm just going to get everything organised then we will do her vaccinations," the doctor could feel Erin worrying, "Don't worry mumma, it will be over in no time."

Finally a knock at the door and Jay walked in, he could see the relief in Erins eyes as she stood there holding Lily in her arms.

"I am so sorry." Jay said walking close to her, giving her a quick kiss on the cheek then kissing Lily's forehead.

"So much for not being stuck anywhere." Erin said annoyed.

"I know, I know. But I'm here now and I don't have to go back after I get to go home with you guys and snuggle because I'm assuming that's all she's going to want." Jay said gesturing down to Lily.

"Probably."

"She's going to be great, she's a little champion." Jay said rubbing his daughters back.

Jay and Erin pulled away from each other when they noticed the doctor walking into the room, with a tray that contained the vaccinations. Erin took a deep breath as she sat door cradling her innocent little girl. Jay stood next to her, resting his hand on her shoulder.

"Okay so the first one is an oral vaccination." The doctor said as she started smiling and pulling faces at Lily, before gentle sticking her finger in her mouth to suckle. Then she started putting the vaccination into her mouth via a dropper, she pulled some faces but not cries or screams come from her mouth. Yet.

"Good girl Lily, good girl." The doctor said kindly, as she gentle pulled her finger out.

"Okay mum your ready? Now here comes the tough part." The doctor said as she knelt down beside Erin with the tray of needles next to her.

"Yeah I'm good, I think." Erin said anxiously but got a reassuring squeeze from Jay.

"Okay hold her leg like this," she said showing Erin how to hold Lily's leg, "Sorry bubba."

Quickly the doctor poked the first needle into their daughters leg and the room was filled with ear piercing cries and little Lily's face went the brightest shade of red.

"It's okay baby, it's okay." Erin said rocking her, as the doctor quickly told her to turn Lily around to do the other leg. Just as Lily took a breath from the first needle she was poked with the second one and the loud cries come back.

"It's all good Lily, it's all over now. You done such a good job." The doctor said as she stood up and walked to her desk.

Erin quickly stood up and bought Lily up to her chest rocking back and fourth slightly while jay patted her back trying his best to soothe Lily and also Erin who had shed a couple tears.

"Thank god that is over." Jay said happily.

"Your good to wrap her back up Erin, you both done really well today I know how hard it can be, trust me we hate doing it. Now she will be a little unsettled and probably clingy for the next couple days but that is completely normal just try your hardest to stay into routine."

Erin nodded and said thankyou as she wrapped Lily back up and passed her to Jay.

"You done so well you little champion." Jay said giving Lily little kisses.

After they walked out of the doctors Jay helped Erin get Lily settled into the carrier then into the back of Erins car. Lily started crying and Erin quickly kissed Jay.

"I gotta start driving otherwise she is going to lose it, I will see you at home."

"Okay baby, you done well today." Jay said smiling as he walked off to follow her home.

...

Later that day Lily laid sprawled out on Jays cheek sound asleep with her dummy between her lips.

"Well I could definitely get use to this, shame getting you home early means our poor little girl has to be poked and prodded." Erin said snuggling into Jays side.

"I know, I really do miss this. I miss out on a lot, maybe I should take some time off or do less hours or something."

"Jay you love your job, you take enough time off I don't want you to do that." Erin said sitting up.

"I just hate missing out on all this." Jay shrugged trying not to disturb the sleeping baby.

"Your doing fine Jay, your a great dad. What are we going to do when I decide to come back to work?" Erin asked.

Jay grabbed Erins hand, "We will figure it out, we always do. But don't rush it, no ones pushing you."

"I know, thankyou."

"She's been down longer then usual."

"Yeah I think she will be a little outta whack for a little while," Erin said rubbing her hands through the very little hair on Lily's head, "Also seeings though we don't know how well she will sleep in the night and you have the next couple days off I decided to pump a few bottles just incase."

"Good idea." Jay smiled.

"Thought you'd like that, I'm a little sad I think you love her way more then me now." Erin said chuckling as she watch Jay in full daddy mode admiring his beautiful little girl.

"I mean I love you a lot Er but if it came down to it I'd use you as a human shield to protect her." Jay said jokingly as Erin gentle punched him in the arm.

"Hey!"

"Erin! Now now, small child." Jay said as he pointed down to Lily.

"Yeah your lucky." Erin said rolling her eyes as she snuggled back into Jays shoulder.

"I'm the luckiest I'd ever thought I'd be."
