Couple days after Lillians needles she had finally started sleeping back through the night with one feed. She had been a very clingy baby and would hate to not be on either Jays or Erins chest or even not touching them in the slightest.
It was later in the morning when Erin was woken by the bright sun that shone through the window, they must have forgotten to shut the curtains but Erins heart melted when she rolled over to see Jay feeding Lily. He loved that he finally had this connection with her.
"Morning handsome, morning bubba." Erin said slightly sitting up to rest her head on Jays shoulder.
"Morning, tried to let you sleep a little it's been a rough couple days."
"Thanks babe, you back to work today?" Erin asked.
"Nope, well I'm on call so probably but for now I'm all yours." Jay smiled.
"So Will called last night." Erin said knowing it was going to frustrate Jay.
"Mmhmm."
"Jay come on, have you called your dad? Lil is two months old now, he wants to meet his granddaughter." Erin said rubbing her finger up and down Jays arm.
"I don't know, he was an asshole last time. I don't want my daughter seeing any of that." Jay said shaking his head.
"Jay if he starts anything then we can leave and Lily isn't even going to remember," Erin paused and held out her arms as Lily finished the bottle Jay was holding, "Okay give me the baby I want my morning cuddles."
"Fine." Jay said pausing Lily to Erin.
"Fine as in I can have the baby or fine as in we will go see your dad?" Erin asked raising her eyebrow.
"The second thing." Jay said bluntly as he got up out of bed.
"Jay I know it's hard for you, but she should get to know her grandfather as much as he should know her." Erin shrugged.
"Yeah I guess, I will ring Will. We can meet up at a park or something, mutual ground." Jay said chucking his running stuff on.
"We met on mutual ground last time and look what happened," Erin rolled her eyes, "We could just go visit him at his house? Or do you just not want me to see Jays childhood memories."
"It's not that trust me, look I'm going to go for a run. I will call Will when I'm out." Jay said grabbing his sneakers.
"Let me come with you? I can finally start excercising properly now, not just the occasional walk."
"Okay well get you butt into gear then." Jay said stoping in the doorway.
"Well you take her and get her dressed and I will put some clothes on. But Jay you cant tease me if I can't keep up I haven't done any hardcore cardio in like over eight months." Erin said getting out of bed and passing Lily over to her dad.
"Lily your mummy wants me to take it easy on her, never going to happen." Jay said smiling at his daughter, getting a massive smile back.
"Erin! She just smiled and I think it was a real one this time!" Jay shouted to Erin who come running out of the bathroom.
"Hey baby did you just smile, can you do it with mumma?" Erin said stroking Lily's cheek waiting for a smile.
Lily excitedly moved her arms around giving her parents a big toothless smile. They were both so amazed and proud.
...
After they got back from their jog, Jay was quite impressed with Erin. He had to slow down and take over the pram a couple times but she done really well for someone who was out of whack.
"You done much better then I expected. Are we proud of mummy munchkin?" Jay said bouncing Lily up and down.
"Thanks, I guess?" Erin said shaking her head.
"Okay shower time."
"Family shower time?" Erin asked.
Jay raised an eyebrow and slowly walked towards her, "Really?"
"Yeah, she loves the shower." Erin said poking her daughter in her belly.
"Sure, you just want to see me naked." Jay joked.
Erin just turned away from Jay stripping her clothes as she walked to the shower, leaving the bathroom door open and waited for Jay to follow with Lily.
It was the first time Jay had seen Erin fully naked in a sexual way, he had seen her boobs when she fed Lily but that wasn't sexual, he had also seen her pretty much naked when she gave birth but that also wasn't sexual. The last time he'd seen her like this was ten or so months ago. Was he even meant to be seeing her like this? They weren't alone so they couldn't do anything but maybe this was Erins idea or showing him that she was ready for the next step.
Once he stepped in the shower he couldn't help but look Erin up and down, taking in every inch of her. She has a perfect body before Lily but know after birth it definitely done something for her, she was perfect.
Erin noticed Jay checking her out and she squirmed a little trying not to be uncomfortable, "Halstead!"
"What!" Jay shout his head up.
"Your checking me out and by your face you don't look pleased, maybe this was a bad idea I will get out." Erin went to step out when Jay grabbed her face and pulled her in for a deep kiss. If he wasn't holding Lily in his other arm right now he wouldn't have been able to control herself.
"Woah." Erin said stepping back taking a breath.
"I missed you." Jay said.
"Me too, every bit of you." Erin said rubbing her hands up and down Jays wet chest.
"Er, you gotta stop that. Our daughter is in here." Jay said taking breaths, trying to control himself.
"Hi bubba, you like your shower. You love the water huh?" Erin said squeaky as she spoke to Lily who was clapping her hands and drawing her fingers around Jays chest as the water droplets fell down.
"She is so beautiful, I never realised i wanted this so much." Jay smiled kissing her daughters head.
"I know, me too," Erin paused, "Maybe we could get Hank to look after her tonight or something? So we could time for us."
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Jay said seductively.
"Yes, I want it to be perfect and I feel like this little girl will pick the perfect time to interrupt."
"And we cant have that can we." Jay squeezed Lily's cheek.
...
Jay and Erin sat quietly in the parked car at the park, they were meeting Will and Pat, Erin could feel the tension but she knew they needed to do this.
"Babe we gotta get out, come on." Erin said as she opened the door and headed to the back to get Lily out.
"Hey beautiful, aren't you just the cutest with your little beanie on." Erin said admiring her daughter.
Jay stayed wordless and blunt as he got the pram out of the back and helped Erin attach the carrier to it. Erin quickly gave Jay a hug hoping that she could relax him a little.
"We can still make a run for it." Jay laughed trying tot crack a joke hoping to make the situation better for himself.
"He's going to be lover her, I mean who couldn't." Erin said as she started pushing the stroller over to the picnic tables that Will had texted them saying they were there.
They walked over hand in hand, finally getting to the table the Halstead family was sitting at. Will had a big grin on his face and quickly rushed over to see his niece, noticing Jay and Erin had their hand in each other's he gave his brother a knowing look but got a shake of the head which told him to shut the hell up and not make the situation anymore awkward or give his dad anymore ammunition.
"Hey Will, hi Pat." Erin said with a smile as she hugged Will and held out her hand for Pat to hopefully shake.
Pat stayed still and quiet making Erin tense up a little but then he slowly walked towards her and bought her in for a hug, "Good to see you again Erin."
Erin was surprised, was this the same man she met a couple months ago? Maybe her words actually knocked some sense into him, "You too."
"Hi dad." Jay said bluntly shaking his old mans hand as they watched Will get cute and squeeky as he lifted Lily out of the pram.
"Hi there little munchkin, how's my favourite niece? Huh, looked at you smiling already." Will said bouncing the little girl in his arms.
"She's your only niece Will." Jay said, getting an eye roll of Will as he grabbed his daughter out of his arms.
"Dad I would like to introduce my daughter to you, Lillian Nadia Camille Halstead." Jay said walking towards his dad, he was quite shocked when Lily reached her arms out for him, she usually wasn't this friendly with people she'd never met before.
"Mums name? She's beautiful Jay, at least you done something right." Pat said pulling the little girl into his arms, Jay was about to say something but felt Erins hand give his arm a squeeze which meant calm down and let it go.
"Mum would be really proud of you Jay." Will said as he patted his brother on the back.
"Shall we? I packed a picnic, sorry Pat I wasn't sure what you liked but there's a bit of everything." Erin smiled as she started pulling out the sandwiches and fruit platter she'd organised.
After an hour of small talk Lily was out for the count, being in Pats arms for some reason really calmed her. Maybe it was the sense of older more mature men because she was the exact same with Hank.
Erin stood up to grab Lily and put her down in the pram, "She must like you, she has been a little unsettled for a couple days."
"Oh why's that?" Pat asked curiously.
"Six week needles." Jay replied.
"Oh right, how is everything looking with her?" Pat said.
"We have a very healthy little girl." Jay smiled as he watched protectively over his girls.
"That's good. So Erin have you thought much about when your going back to work?" Pat asked Erin when she sat back down.
"Not really, I just want to soak up as much time while she is so little." Erin smiled.
"So what will happen when you do decided to go back to work? Will you go back to working with my son? I mean it will be pretty tough if something were to happen to the both of you." Pat said.
Jay noticed Erins head drop, he could tell the statement made her worriedly of course he had thought about it aswell but obviously getting hurt and leaving your daughter with no parents is the last thing you want to ever think about.
"Uh I'm sure we will work it out." Erin smiled awkwardly, feeling Jay squeeze her hand under the table.
"You guys will make it work, you make a great team." Will said trying to ease the tension.
"Great team or not, putting yourselves in harms way isn't exactly idea either a child." Pat shrugged.
"Okay dad can we not do this? I just want to have a nice day, for once." Jay said.
"Fine, but it's just something I think you both should think about." Pat continued saying.
"Anyway dad have you decided on an apartment yet? I mean I know you have been looking for a while now I think it's time to just pick one, we think the sooner the better." Will said.
Jay looked at Will with a shocked face, really he was bringing this up? A little while after Erin met Pat, he started having heart trouble and had to get surgery. After this both boys thought it was best for him to move to a smaller place that didn't need as much work. But of course he hated the idea and just kept going on about how they just wanted his money, which was far from the case.
"I still think it's a horrible idea but sure, you's will probably just kick me out of my own home eventually." Pat said angrily.
"Dad you know we are only trying to do what's best." Will said.
"Son just worry about yourself." Pat said sharply.
"Okay whatever, I have to get back to work. Pick a place, you have a week to figure it out. We are done with you tip toeing around it." Will said before quickly leaving but not without giving his little niece a quick kiss.
"We should be heading off too." Jay said, he just wanted to get out of there. Without Will there, there was no way he was sticking around.
"What can't stand up for yourself without your big brother?"
"You know I can." Jay snapped back bluntly.
"Sorry Pat, we have dinner reservations and we need to get this little one sorted." Erin said trying to break the ice.
"No worries I get it, but don't take two months to come see me again huh? Especially with that little one." Pat smiled, Jay was surprised, he couldn't remember the last time he seen his dad smile.
"Of course, I will leave you guys to it while I go out her in the car, bye Pat." Erin said as she walked away, not knowing if leaving Jay by himself with his father was wise.
"I have to say Jay, you have made something of yourself. But I still think you need to figure out if being a detective is a career path you want to take with a baby."
"Dad I appreciate it but I really don't need advice from you and I'm perfectly capable looking after this city aswell as my kid." Jay said.
"Okay whatever, I will see you soon then I guess."
"Sure, bye dad." Jay said before turning away, quickly hurrying off. Even though his father seemed someone content he just didn't want to be around him for longer then he had too.
...
Erin paced back and fourth, she kept looking at herself in the mirror hoping she looked okay, this was the first time she had gotten dressed up in a really long time and the first time ever they were spending the evening without Lily.
As much as Jay tried to convince her that everything was fine she just kept saying his mind was blurred because he just wanted to get inside her pants, which was obviously the case for him but of course he knew everything was going to be fine.
"Erin you ready? Hanks going to be here any minute." Jay said from the other side of the door.
Erin took one last breath and opened the door, Jay stepped backwards nearly falling over when he saw how breathtaking she looked. Each day they kept spending with each other he just couldn't believe how beautiful she kept getting.
"Wow." Jay said breathless.
"A good wow?" Erin asked wiping her palms down the sides of the dress trying to calm herself.
Jay stepped forward and grabbed her waist, "A very good wow, you look amazing."
Erin leant up to kiss him, before things got too heated they heard a knock at the door, Jay took a breath and sorted his appearance out before walking over to let Hank in.
"Hey Sarge." Jay said as Hank walked in.
"I think you can leave the formalities for work Jay, Hanks fine. I mean I am here to look after your kid." Hank said going over to give Erin a hug.
"Thanks so much for doing this Hank." Erin said happily.
"No worries, I love spending time with her you know that. Where is my favourite little girl anyway?" Hank said looking around and then noticing her on the play mat that sat on the living room floor.
"Hey! I though I was your favourite." Erin said jokingly with a hint of jealousy.
"Er she bumped you off the pedestal as soon as she came into the work, she has everyone wrapped around her finger." Jay laughed at the way Erin reacted.
"Yeah I guess, anyway Hank you sure your going to be fine? She has been fed, bathed and changed so you pretty much just have to watch her, she goes down around eight but she has been a little unsettled with her needles so she may fight it." Erin said started to sound like an overprotective mother.
"Erin, I know how to look after a baby. You two go, we have it cover. Don't we Lily." Hank said as he picked Lily up and started pulling faces.
"Okay okay, all the numbers you need are in the fridge, if she does seem hungry their is milk in the fridge ready to go." Erin continued ignoring Hank.
Hank looked at Jay and nodded, which meant he had it covered get her out of here before she changes her mind, "Come on Er, we have a reservation to get too. He's going to be fine, aren't you Hank."
"Yes Halstead, now get out of here." Hank said .
"Okay fine, bye guys. Bye baby girl, mummy loves you." Erin said giving once last kiss to their daughter before Jay dragged her out.
...
They managed to get to dessert before Erin really started to get impatient. She had already been to the bathroom three times which meant three times to check in Lily but Jay couldn't have been happier. He knew how hard this was for her, they spend every minute of the day together so of course the first night away was going to be hard.
"Er, do you just want to go home? Do you want to get dessert takeaway?" Jay said reaching over for Erins hand.
Erin pulled away and rubbed her hands over her face, "I'm so sorry Jay, I wanted this to be special but I just can't stop thinking about her. I'm sorry."
"Don't apologise for caring Erin, I know how hard this is for you. Come on, let's order dessert and get out of here. I mean you done a pretty good job to last two hours already." Jay chuckled.
...
They slowly opened the door as they stripped their jackets off and walked into the apartment. Hank was watching a ice hockey replay.
"Back so soon?" Hank said keeping his eyes on the tv.
"How was she?" Erin said quietly.
"She was fine, what about her Halstead." Hank said pointing at Erin who was walking slowly over to check on Lily.
"Done better then I thought." Jay chuckled.
"She lasted longer then Camille, the first date we went on after Justin we barely got through the first course." Hank and Jay both laughed as Erin joking them.
"She's out like a light, big day today." Erin smiled leaning into Jays side.
"How did seeing your dad go?" Hank asked looking at Jay.
"Fine," Hank having a concerning looking when Jay was so blunt with him, "Seriously fine, he loved Lily."
"Who couldn't," Hank said as he stood up, "Anyway I'm off,Halstead I will see you tomorrow and Erin bring her into the district sometime this week I'm sure everyone would love that."
"Will do Hank, thanks again." Erin said as she hugged him before he left.
Once Hank left they both laid exhaustedly in the couch, Erin had her legs stretched over as Jay gentle rubbed her feet.
"I'm sorry that tonight didn't last as long as you wanted but I still did have a really good time." Erin smiled.
"I don't care Erin, just glad I got to have you to myself even if it was only for a little bit and I wasn't the only thing on your mind."
"Unfortunately you being the only thing on my mind is long over, I can never stop thinking about her." Erin said as he sat up and started tracing her finger on Jays chest through his shirt.
"Yeah same here, we really do have something special huh?"
"We do, now Jay I was thinking. The night isn't quite over yet." Erin said as she started unbuttoning his dress shirt.
"Er, you sure?" Jay asked, he didn't want to rush her.
"One hundred percent, I have missed you so much. I think it's time we recconect." Erin said as she started tracing kisses up and down his cheek bone.
"Oh I think so," Jay said as he quickly grabbed hold of her waist and pulled her on top of him. He started to unbutton the dress she wore as she worked on his shirt, "I have missed you."
"Enough of the small talk Jay, take me to the bedroom." Erin said as Jay nodded and lifted her up in one swift movement and then made his way to the bedroom.
He laid her down carefully and started kissing down her neck and collarbone, she pulled away and smiled, "And I have missed you too."
