This is the same chapter I updated today but I just noticed some mistakes that needed fixing! Sorry! But I am in the middle of the next one so sit tight.
Hey guys so I have used scenes from episodes in the 7th season. Thought it was going all to well for Linstead so thought I'd put some drama in there. Enjoy and as always your reviews are welcomed and appreciated.
Lily was now four months old, her parents couldn't be more in love with her and more in love with each other. There was relationship had hit a new level, a level that they never ever realised was possible. Everyone knew they were back together and were so happy for them and hoped that this time they could make it work.
They had moved into another apartment which felt less like a man cave and had some what of a feminine touch and also Lily had her own nursery set up now that Jay and Erin were sharing the same room again. It was all perfect.
Erin had decided she was going to go back to work when Lily was six months old, they decided that they would take her to daycare two times a week and hire a nanny for the other three days. Erin hated the thought of leaving her but she knew she had to get back to work and she couldn't be more excited that she was going back to work with her family, she had missed working with them so much.
They had quite the routine down pat, Jay would wake up at five thirty, go for a jog then come home and shower and get ready. By then it would be close to Lily's wake up time so he would get her ready for the day, feed her and have a little daddy daughter time down before Erin got up and he had to go to work. Erin would take her into the district a couple times a week for a visit, more so for her who needed some adult interaction but also seeing how Lily lighted up everyone's day when they saw her bought her so much happiness.
But today was different, Jay left early in the middle of the night saying they caught a case but thankfully Lily didn't notice that her daddy wasn't there to spend the morning with her.
Today Lily had started rolling over and trying to sit up, Erin got so excited and wasn't meant to visit the district today but all she wanted was to show Jay. She'd sent him videos but knew that of course he was busy that had been why he hadn't gotten back to her.
"What do you say princess, want to go see daddy?" Erin said as she knelt down to Lily's level, Lily's face lit up as soon as she heard the word daddy, she was definitely a daddy's girl and loved spending every minute with him.
...
Voight paced back and fourth, everyone watched as they either were on the phone trying to get information or trying to find something on their computer.
"Anything?" Voight said angrily.
"Nothing." Atwater said defeated as he looked at his computer.
"Okay this whole thing kicked off with the murder of those two boys a few months back. Jay liked Marcus West for the crime. So he got a little aggressive, booked him into County. You know, make him nervous, leverage a confession." Voight explained.
"It's not Jay's fault that the facial rec was inaccurate. I mean, the evidence pointed to
Marcus killing those two kids." Adam said annoyed.
"Yeah, well, except he didn't, and Marcus wound up dead. Jay had a hard time swallowing it, so...you know, he tried to make it right, help out the family. But this isn't about that or about what happened to Marcus in County. It's about finding Jay. For now, this stays in-house, off book," Voight paused looking back to the team, "But I wanna know everything there is to know about Angela Nelson. We find her, we find Jay. We need to get him home, he has a daughter now."
Everyone watched as Hank walked back into his office, this was hitting everyone hard.
"So who's going to tell Lindsay?" Ruzek questioned the rest of the team.
"No one, not until we know something so keep your mouth shut. She isn't meant to come here today so we should be in the clear for that but if she rings just tell her he's out with a CI but make it somewhat believable because she isn't dumb." Al said before returning to his desk.
"This is the second time Jay has been kidnapped, first time Erin was in her dark spiral and now she has a kid with the guy, I don't know how I'd take it." Kim said sadly as she flicked through files.
"We are going to find him before she hopefully has to know. It's going to be fine." Hailey said with hope, really trying to believe her words.
Everyone was shocked when they heard footsteps walking up the stairs and tiny little baby noises follow. Once Erin got to the top she looked around to notice Jay was there, but she didn't think anything of it and just smiled at everyone.
"Hey guys! Guess who rolled over today for the first time, this little girl." Erin said happily as she poked Lily's belly.
"Wow! That is great, she's growing up so quick." Antonio said as he got up to say hi to them both.
"So guys where's Jay? He didn't reply to any of my messages." Erin said then noticed the board that had Marcus West's crime scene photos all over it, she was confused. She knew what happened and that it was closed so why was it reopened, did they get caught by what actually happened.
She looked around at everyone, "What's going on?"
"Erin maybe you want to put Lily down, we can go talk to Voight about everything." Hailey said.
"Here I will take her." Antonio said holding out his arms, Erin slowly kissed Lily's head then handed her over. She then followed Hailey into Voight's office.
Voight's face said it all, he was not expecting to see her today and he was hoping to have something before he told her the father of her child was missing.
"Hank you better tell me what the hell is going on." Erin said angrily.
"Did you tell her anything?" Voight said looking at Hailey.
"No sarge." Hailey shook her head.
"Okay, so Erin I assume you know everything that happened with the whole Marcus West situation?" Erin nodded, "Well Jay had a hard time swallowing it, did he seem off at all to you?"
"No not at all, I mean the first week or so he was disappointed and angry with himself but he snapped out of it, he didn't want to act that way around Lil and he didn't want his feelings to jeopardise us so he said he'd go see someone." Erin explained.
"Do you know who? Or where?" Hank continued asking questions.
"No I don't, Hank what are you trying to say?" Erin said confused.
"We think he was spending time with Marcus West's wife and son, helping them out." Hank said.
"Seriously? How can you be sure?" Erin asked surprised, how did she not notice? Why would he lie to her, after everything they promised not to do.
"I have been tracking Jay for a few weeks now and I confronted him yesterday, found him teaching Marcus's son baseball. I told him he had to let it go otherwise he could put us all in jeopardy. He said he'd drop it, but then last night he got a message from her saying he needed help." Hailey explained.
"So you guys didn't get a case during the middle of the night?" Hank and Hailey shook their heads, "So where is he now?"
"We don't know, we went to the house that Jays car was found and we found Jays badge and gun in the glove compartment and then the house was empty, their was blood on the floor that was a
match to Jays." Hailey said.
"Oh my god, so do you have anything?" Erin said.
"Not yet, we are going through everything we can. We will find him, Erin you need to go home with Lily." Hank said.
"The hell I do, I'm not going anywhere." Erin said as she stood up.
Suddenly there was a knock at Hanks door, the three walked out over to Kim's desk.
"So we got details back on Angela's movements two days ago. Pings on her phone put her at Sutton Street and 150th at 6:00 p.m." Kim explained.
"Which is the same time that we got a shots fired call over the 8th District zone." Hailey said.
"So I went down there, found a doorbell cam that's across the street from a stash house. That's Angela's car, and that's her behind the wheel and that guy looks like he's carrying a bag full of bricks." Kim continued as she pointed to the screen.
"Patrol found a dead John Doe and an empty drug trap on the floor. The John Doe is a Latino in his '20s, GSW to the head. No ID found on him. Area South is doing the case." Kevin said sticking up the photos to the board as everyone listened.
"Which means they may know what we know and are already out in front of this." Hank said shaking his head.
"Which is obviously not good." Adam said.
"Way to point out the obvious Ruzek," Erin said angrily, "Sorry, I'm sorry." Erin said rubbing her hands through her hair.
"It's fine Linds." Ruzek said giving her shoulder a squeeze, he couldn't even imagine how hard this must have been for her.
"We got anything on the stick-up man?" Hank asked.
"Yeah, facial rec picked him up. His name is Carlos Diaz. He's got three priors for possession and an armed robbery kicker. And get this, his last known is the apartment where Jose Santiago was tortured." Kim said sticking the picture to the board.
"He and Carlos are roommates." Kevin said.
"So...Whoever's drugs got ripped went looking for Carlos, found Jose instead. All right, what else do we know about this Carlos?" Hank asked.
"Well, we know he can't be too smart. I've been pinging his phone all day. Dummy never shut it off. Right now, he's hiding out in a flophouse in Gage Park." Kevin said reading his computer.
"All right, let's scoop him up. Nice and quiet.
You two." Hank said pointing to Adam and Hailey.
"Voight, let me do it." Erin said as she stood up, she was determined to get Jay back, she needed to.
"Just sit this out, for now. You have Lily to worry about." Hank said as he walked back to his office.
Hailey passed Erin before she walked out, "Erin I promise you, we will get him back. I'm sorry I didn't tell you anything sooner, honestly I thought Jay would have."
"Me too," Erin said sadly, "Me too."
...
"Carlos Diaz, overdose. M.E. says he's been dead for at least half a day." Hailey said pinning up the photo as everyone crowded around the board, including a worried Erin. Thankfully Lily had gone down for a nap in the break room.
"That's the bag we saw get tossed into Angela's car." Ruzek said pointing to the picture.
"All right, so Carlos stole the drugs, started using, wound up dead?" Hank said.
"Probably not used to this good of quality." Ruzek shrugged.
"All right, run those bricks for latent prints and test that gun. See if the markings match the bullets that popped our John Doe at the stash house. Listen, we keep digging into Carlos. The fact he's dead changes nothing. Cause whoever Carlos and Angela ripped off, that's who has Jay." Hank said, as he walked over to pull Erin aside.
"Erin we will find him."
"How did this even happen then Hank? Why wouldn't he talk to me? We have come so far since Lily and now this? What if..." Erin said sadly as Hank cut her off.
"Don't even go there, he needs you to be strong for that beautiful little girl of yours." Hank said before walking off.
...
"Okay what do we have?" Hank said as he and Erin walked out of his office. Two hours later and still nothing.
"Techs just found a second set of prints on the bricks of heroin. Pedro Silva. Been popped three times for distro along with a couple weapon charges." Adam explained.
"All right, what flag does he fly?" Hank asked.
"He's more of a lone wolf, works with family. His wife was killed five years ago in a drive-by, left Silva raising his three sons on his own. Two of them work for the old man." Kim said.
"This is Hector Silva. Did four years in Stateville, drug distribution. He spent most of his time in the hole. Got in a few jams. I mean, he almost beat a guy to death with a barbell." Antonio explained.
"This is the middle brother, Luis. Pinched twice for possession, no history of violence." Hailey said.
"And the other one?" Erin asked.
"That's Emilio. Still in high school, honour student, no priors." Hailey explained, surprised that Voight was still letting Erin be involved in this.
"The two older brothers match the eyewitness description that the neighbor gave us." Kevin said.
"All right, we got an address on Pedro Silva?" Hank asked.
"Uh, yeah. Uh, LKA is a house on Hegewisch." Ruzek said flicking through his files.
"All right, Kev, you and Antonio, get a bead on those two brothers. The rest of you, with me." Hank said as everyone went to gear up, Erin walked in to check on Lily defeatedly. Hank followed her.
"We are getting close Erin, just sit tight." Hank said before walking off.
...
After going to the house and finding the youngest son they took him into custody to go through his phone, see if he'd been in contact with his father. Meanwhile Voight got in touch with a CI who could get them a meet with Pedro and hopefully get something helpful.
Hailey and Voight were sitting in the car watching the meet to go down, Hailey was so angry with herself, she knew she should have said something sooner.
"I should've said something the second I knew Jay was hanging out with Angela."
"He was trying to help a mom and her kid down on their luck. There's nothing wrong with that. The only problem is being decent and being a good cop. It's not always a perfect marriage." Hank shrugged, he was trying to keep his cool. Ofcourse he was angry, Jay was meant to be keeping his pretty much daughter and granddaughter safe, not worrying about another family, but that's just who he is.
"Yeah. But he has more to think about now. Sometimes you've got to swallow all your pain and guilt, move on." Hailey said.
"Silva just arrived. He's outside of the parking lot, black Lexus. Unknown driver in the vehicle." Antonio said into the radio.
"Copy," Hailey replied, "Should we put a tracker on it?"
"Not with Silva sitting in the car." Hank said shaking his head.
"Sarge, if this goes south, that's our only hope." She said concerned.
"Hailey, I said it's too dangerous." He said bluntly.
"Here's your boy." Kevin said to Voights CI.
"Pedro, thanks for coming." Darius said shaking his hand.
"Yeah." Pedro said bluntly as they walked over to Kevin.
"Keyshawn." Darius introduced Pedro to Kevin.
"Pedro, I appreciate you. Let's get right to it. My boy Jimmy and Angela violated. He got involved with some stuff he had no business getting involved in. I just wanna make peace with you." Kevin said.
"It's going to take a lot to make peace. My cousin got killed in that house." Pedro said angrily.
"I hate to hear that, and I'm sorry. That's exactly why I'm here to make it right." Kevin said calmly.
"How are you gonna do that, Keyshawn?" Pedro asked.
"First thing I'm gonna do is give you back everything that's yours. Jim and Angela had no idea what they were doing, who they were doing it to.They got played by a punk-ass wannabe gangster, Carlos." Kevin explained.
"Yeah, I know. I'm looking for him." Pedro said.
"I know. I already took care of him for you. He in the ground." Kevin said.
"How do you know that?" Pedro asked.
"Cause that's where I put him. That looks like your product, right? Not a gram is missing. Allow me to give it back to you. I'll throw in an extra 50k. That's out of respect for your loss. All I need you to do is hand over Jim and Angela." Kevin said.
"I'll think about it." Pedro said starting to walk away.
"Hey, come on now. You can't just leave like that." Kevin said trying to stay calm.
"Excuse me?" Pedro said shocked.
"I need you to tell me that my people are good." Kevin said started to get angry.
"You don't tell me what to do." Pedro said getting defensive.
"If you don't give me proof that they're good, then there's no deal." Kevin said firmly.
"Okay, let's take it down. Let's take it down. Pedro...listen, the man's got a point. He just wants to make sure his people are good." Darius said trying to ease the conversation.
Pedro pulled out his phone and started dialling, "Put him on the phone."
"Talk."
"You got Jim." Jay said on the other end.
"Jim, what the hell did I tell you about grabbing what's not yours?" Kevin replied.
"I messed up, man. I'm sorry."
"Damn right you did. But we're gonna get the drugs back, then we're gonna get you back. You hang tight." Kevin replied, now he knew Jay was still alive.
"Okay, good?" Pedro asked.
"Yeah. Yeah, we're good." Kevin nodded.
"Let's meet at 4:00 p.m. I'll text you a place." Pedro said before walking off.
...
The meet did not go as expected, but thankfully they now had Silva in custody. Hopefully they could get something out of him.
Erin and Hailey watched as Hank tried dealing with Silva in the cage, Erin wanted her five minutes but she knew that Hank wouldn't go for it.
"Uh, you done?" Silva spat.
"Are you talking?" Hank said angrily.
"Only to my lawyer." Silva replies.
"Yeah?" Hank said annoyed.
"He's on standby. He's gonna be making calls, gonna want to see his client." Silva said.
"Well, maybe his client resisted arrest. Maybe his client reached for my gun, so I had to shoot him in the face. You are gonna tell me what I need to know or you're gonna die. Do you understand?" Hank said.
"Kiss my brown ass." Silva spat.
"Sarge, take a break." Hailey said getting a frustrating look off Erin. Voight stopped and shut the cage as he followed Hailey, she obviously had something to say.
"We need leverage, right? Let's use the one thing this guy cares about." Hailey said.
"Which is?" Erin said annoyed.
"The youngest son." Hailey said looking between the both of them.
"The honor student?" Hank asked.
"Yeah. He's the only thing we got." Hailey said.
"Do what you got to do." Hank agreed and let Hailey take over.
...
Erin and Hailey were in the break room, Hailey was on the phone getting frustrated. They were stuffing her around with bringing up the Silva kid.
"What's going on?" Erin said once Hailey hung up, looking defeated and frustrated. Ready to break down in tears.
"They are taking their time bringing up that Silva kid." Hailey said.
Erin got so frustrated she threw the mug she was holding into the sink smashing, completely forgetting Lily was in there as we sleeping. She jumped when Lily burst out in loud cries.
"Oh baby, I'm so sorry." Erin said picking her up and holding her tight to her chest. Hailey walked over and started rubbing her hand up and down Erins back.
"We need to find him Hailey. I can't do this without him." Erin said as tears fell down her face.
Adam walked in, "You girls alright in here? They just bought that Silva kid up."
"Adam will you take her? She's a little unsettled but I want to do this with Hailey." Erin said as she wiped the tears from her face.
"Yeah sure okay, hey Erin it's going to be fine. This is a good idea." Adam said taking Lily off her, bouncing the crying baby in his arms, didn't take long before she started to calm down.
...
Erin and Hailey stood outside the interrogation room, Hailey pulled Erin aside, "You sure your up for this Erin?"
"Just because I have been out of the game for a little while doesn't mean I have lost my touch, I'm good. They have the father of my child, I need to do this." Erin said knowing they Hailey was only trying to look out for her, knowing exactly what happened the last time they done an interrogation together.
"Well they have my partner so we are both on the same page then." Hailey nodded as they walked in.
"Hey, Emilio." Both girls said as they stood in front of the scared boy.
"Can I go?" He stuttered.
"No, you can't go." Erin said bluntly.
"We found a problem with your car. It was reportedly used in an armed robbery last night. We're pressing charges." Hailey said.
"A robbery? But I didn't..."
"If I were you, I'd keep my mouth shut," Erin said cutting the boy off, "Put your hands behind your back."
"But I didn't do anything!"
"Yeah, we haven't heard that before." Hailey scoffed as she watched Erin handcuff the boy.
"Can I call my dad? He told me if I ever got
in trouble, I should call him." He said scared.
"Yeah. He a lawyer or something?" Hailey asked.
"No, he owns a construction company."
Erin and Hailey walked down to the roll up with the young boy hoping to get Pedro to talk. Saying that they'd pin a drug charge on him if he didn't cooperate or tell them where Jay was.
"He's at 3900 West Union. It's an old
manufacturing plant. You son of a bitch!" Pedro shouted as the the three of them walked away.
"Nice work Hailey." Hank said grabbing Hailey's shoulder.
As they were all walking out to go get Jay Hank stopped Erin, "Erin I know how much you want to come but you can't, we will get him. Just stay here."
"But Hank!" Erin said angrily.
"Please Erin, don't fight me on this." Hank said cutting her off as he walked off with the rest of their team.
So Erin did as she was told and sat there with her daughter listening over the radio waiting to hear that they had got him and that he was safe.
...
Hailey finally got to Jay, taking a sigh of relief when she knew he was okay. Bloody and bruised but okay.
"Hey, are you okay?" Hailey said looking her partner over.
"I've got to go help Angela. She's downstairs. Stay there." Jay said as he walked back downstairs.
"5021 Henry, we've got an offender down and an officer injured. Roll two ambulances to 3900..." Hailey said into her radio.
Back at the district Erin took a deep breath, he was okay.
"Hear that bubba, daddy's okay." She said hugging Lily so tight she didn't want to let her go.
But then her worst nightmare happened and it all went dark, she started hearing shouts over the radio asking for help and that a police officer was down, GSW to the shoulder. What the hell happened in that one minute timeframe.
