This story takes place in Spider-Man: The New Animated Series. There will be a few multi-crossover chapters, some characters, and references from other series, games, and movies but the story takes place mostly in the Spider-Man universe.
Somewhere in Siberia in the year 2002
In the cold snowy forests of Siberia stood a secret military base covered by snow and surrounded by thick forest. The base was basically a medium-sized bunker with a huge underground structure under it. While two guards were smoking during their guard duty in front of the main entrance, a man with a white camouflage suit was observing the bunker with his binoculars.
This young man was Jason Connor, a former SAS operative who was recruited to MI6 after a few years serving in SAS. While Jason was observing the base from the forest, he contacted his partner who was already in the base.
"Nomad, this is Ghost. Do you read?" Jason asked via comm-link using his and his partner's codename.
"Nomad here. I'm in a position, just waiting for your word."
"Okay, cut the power," Jason said.
A few seconds after he said it, the light above the guards suddenly shut down which caught the guards' attention. While the guards were distracted, Jason took his pistol (HK USP), put a silencer on it, and moved towards the bunker.
The guards stood at the entrance wondering why the light just died until a bullet pierced each of their heads killing them instantly. After Jason killed the guards, he hid their bodies and went to the entrance. Then he put a hacking device on the door's security panel and started hacking the door. It took a few seconds but Jason was able to get the doors open with the access codes his partner provided a few hours earlier. When the doors were open, Jason took the hacking device from the security panel and entered the base.
When Jason was inside the base, he removed his snow gear leaving on only his one-hole balaclava and black commando outfit. After that, he entered the elevator and set it to go down to the ground floor. While he was waiting in the elevator, he tried to contact his partner.
"Nomad. I'm in the base now. What's your situation?" Jason asked but he received no answer.
When he reached the ground floor and the elevator's doors opened, he noticed that the lights were out. He was about to move on until Jason felt someone sneaking behind him. When whoever was sneaking behind him was close enough, Jason quickly grabbed the person's hand and sang him to the floor, and pointed his pistol at the mystery stalker's head. But when Jason took a good look at the stalker, he and the guy on the floor laughed quietly.
"You still need to improve your skills, Micheal," Jason said while laughing.
"Hey. It's not my fault that I wanted to spend more time with girls than practice in MI6 headquarters," Michael said while he was laughing too.
After their little reunion, Jason helped his partner up. His partner's name was Michael Dorian, a fellow MI6 agent who served with Jason in the same unit in SAS before MI6 recruited them. They fought together side by side for years against all kinds of foes and always won because of their strong bond of friendship.
"So, ready to save the world from the bad guys?" Michael asked.
"You know I'm always ready," Jason answered.
After that, Jason and Michael moved on towards their target. While they were walking in the hallways, they had a little chat regarding their mission.
"I gotta ask: why couldn't the Russians take care of one of their rogue operations by sending their own agents instead of us?" Michael asked.
"Because whoever is running this illegal arms trafficking expects the Russian government to do that. But they won't expect the MI6 to get involved," Jason explained.
"Still, why us?" Michael asked again.
"Because we're one of the best agents in MI6. And if we succeed, this will strengthen the alliance between Russia and western nations," Jason explained.
"Fine by me. If we get out of this, I'm buying us the pizzas next time we're back in London," Michael said.
"Sounds good," Jason said.
For several minutes, Jason and Michael sneaked around the base while searching for storage where the rogue agents and arms dealers kept the weapons they were going to sell to the terrorists. They eventually reached what looked like a research lab with one scientist inside. When they reached the lab, Jason signaled Michael who nodded before entering the lab and killing the scientist with his pistol (Walther P99 with silencer).
After Michael killed the scientist, Jason entered the lab and started checking out what kind of research was conducted there while Michael was examining the scientist he killed. The lab had regular equipment in there but what surprised Jason was the fact that there was also some high-tech equipment, the kind of that is very expensive and difficult to get.
"This can't be right," Jason said.
"What did you find?" Michael asked.
"Some of this lab equipment is newest new. Even terrorists or arms dealers can't get this stuff no matter how much money they have," Jason said.
"Unless they have connections to someone who has access to that kind of technology," Michael said.
"What do you mean?" Jason asked.
Instead of answering, Michael took the identity card from the dead scientist's lab coat and showed it to Jason. But the moment he saw it, his eyes widened. The scientist's card had "Oscorp" written on it along with the scientist's name and picture.
"Did I just see what I think I saw?" Jason asked.
"Yes. This guy is working for Oscorp," Michael confirmed.
"It makes sense now. Oscorp is one of the biggest companies in the world and they have access to this kind of equipment to conduct whatever research they do," Jason said.
"And this guy was either kidnapped and brought here or Oscorp sent him," Michael said.
"Which means that Oscorp is making and selling weapons to the rogue agents who sell them to the terrorists," Jason said.
"That would explain why Oscorp has always gotten huge sums of money from time to time," Michael said.
"But if we want to expose Oscorp's involvement in this, we need strong evidence," Jason said.
Michael nodded and they began searching the lab for whatever they could use against Oscorp. But besides the high-tech equipment Oscorp provided, they didn't find anything that would connect Oscorp to the rogue agents and terrorists.
They kept searching until they found a steel door with "authorized personnel only" written on it and a security panel next to the door.
"Can you hack the door?" Jason asked.
"Hey. I can hack any door," Michael said as he took a hacking device from his vest.
Then he put it on the panel and started hacking the door. It only took a minute before they got the door open and entered whatever was behind it. But when they got to the other side of the door, they couldn't believe their eyes. They were in a huge storage room full of weapons, explosives, and containers. It even had a few tanks and helicopters.
"Holy hell. Talk about your own private arsenal,' Michael said.
"Yeah, no kidding," Jason agreed.
"How do they even get all this stuff in here?" Michael asked.
"There must be another entry in here, the one that is big enough to get all these weapons in here," Jason said.
"Then let's go find it," Michael said.
"Yeah, but first things first," Jason said as he took a C4 explosive from his vest.
"I hoped you would say that," Michael said with a smirk.
After that, they both went down and started setting explosives everywhere they could. And while they were setting explosives, they also checked what kind of weapons the rogue agents were getting from Oscorp. But all they found so far was only regular AK-47s and RPGs along with some DShKM heavy machine guns and mortars.
They kept checking weapons and setting explosives until Michael came across a gun case that had "Oscorp" written on it. Out of curiosity, he opened it and was amazed by what was inside.
"Hey, Jason! I found something!" Michael yelled quietly.
Jason quickly ran to Michael and saw what he found. In the Oscorp case were four high-tech rifles but unlike anything they have seen before. Jason carefully picked up one of the rifles and examined it until he recognized it as a Rorsch Mk-1 railgun (from Battlefield 4).
"What the hell? Since then did Oscorp make a working railgun?" Jason said.
"A railgun? Are you sure?" Michael asked.
"Positive. And they're selling these to the terrorists around the world," Jason said.
"Well, we can't let that happen. But we still have to set the timers on the explosives and find a way out of here," Michael said.
"One thing at the time. But let's set the timers first," Jason said.
"Understood. Six minutes should be enough," Michael said.
But before they could begin setting the timers, the alarm went off.
"Dammit! They must have found the scientist," Jason said.
"Okay, you set the timers while I hold them off," Michael said.
Jason nodded and ran to the explosives to set the timers. Two guards got into the storage from the lab but Michael shot them before they could act. While Jason was setting the timers, Michael closed and locked the door before he grabbed the guards' guns and threw one of them to Jason who caught it during his run to another C4 charge. When Michael was in the firing position and Jason setting the last timer, the guards along with the commander of the base arrived. One of the guards tried to open the door but he couldn't.
"It's locked," the guard said.
"Then blow it open!" The commander yelled.
While Jason was setting the timer, Michael heard the base personnel setting the explosive charge on the door.
"A little hurry, Jason! They're getting through!" Michael said.
"I'm almost done!" Jason said.
But soon after that, the door was blown open and the guards started swarming in. But as soon as they did, Michael fired his Type 56-1 assault rifle (made to look like an AKS-74 like in GoldenEye) and killed several guards while they kept swarming into the storage.
But when Jason just finished setting the last timer, the shooting suddenly stopped. Jason didn't like it so he tried to contact Michael via his comm-link.
"Michael, are you there? What's going on?" Jason asked but received no answer.
He feared the worst so he grabbed his assault rifle (AKS-74U with stock folded) and carefully looked from behind a tank and to his horror, Michael was on his knees and the base's commander had his pistol (Makarov PM) aimed at Michael's head while the guards had their guns pointed at Jason.
"Move out. Put down your weapon and walk towards me, slowly," the commander ordered.
"Finish the job, Jason! Blow them all to hell!" Michael yelled.
"You have ten seconds," the commander said.
Jason didn't know what he should do. He couldn't let the commander kill Michael but he also couldn't let the weapons Oscorp made fall into the hands of the terrorists.
"Come on, Jason. Think!" Jason thought.
He didn't get even a second to think when the commander spoke again.
"This is your last chance! Come out with hands above your head or your friend dies!" The commander yelled.
Jason was now literally out of options. He hated it but the most important rule of the MI6 was that the mission always comes first and failure was never an option. He wanted to save Michael but he couldn't leave the base standing and let the rogue agents sell Oscorp's new weapons to those who wanted to hurt innocents.
Soon Jason made the choice he was probably gonna regret for the rest of his life.
"I'm sorry, Michael. But this is the only way," Jason thought with regret.
He turned back to the explosive charge next to him and changed the timer in three minutes instead of six. Then he took a flashbang from his vest, pulled the pin, and threw it at the guards at the other side of the room. When the flashbang detonated, it blinded everyone in the room which gave Jason a chance to escape.
After the guards were blinded, Jason quickly exited from cover and fired his assault rifle at the guards killing several of them. But while he was running and shooting, he accidentally hit Michael's shoulder and then killed the commander who was holding him hostage.
"Aargh!" Michael screamed in agony when a bullet hit his shoulder.
When Jason reached the elevator on the other side of the storage, he entered the elevator and pressed the button that closed the door seconds before the guards started shooting at him again but hit the door instead. The elevator took Jason down a few levels before the doors opened revealing an underground tunnel with a railroad and a working railcar (Rail Buggy from Medal of Honor: Frontline).
"Not what I expected but if it gets me out of here, I'll take it," Jason thought.
He entered the railcar and started working on how to turn it on until he heard the elevator going up. He knew he didn't have much time so he started trying to turn on the engine by pressing a few buttons in front of him. Suddenly he heard that the elevator started coming down with guards so Jason began to hurry.
"Come on. Turn on, you piece of junk," Jason said.
But when he pressed the button that turned green after he pressed it, the engine turned on.
"Yes! Finally," Jason said.
Then he pulled the lever that removed the breaks from the railcar but as soon as he did it, the elevator came down and the doors opened. But before the guards could come out of the elevator, Jason took his assault rifle and started firing at the elevator while the railcar started moving.
After Jason emptied his magazine, the guards started firing back while Jason went down and hid in the railcar. Luckily the bullets made some scratches to the railcar while it started going faster and faster until it entered the tunnel and left the base behind.
But ten seconds after Jason got away, the C4 detonated and a huge explosion followed. It was a close call but Jason got out of the base through the tunnel into the forest just in time before the explosion destroyed it along with everything in it.
While Jason was driving the railcar on the old but still working railroad throughout the cold and snowy forests of Siberia, he felt great sadness about the loss of Michael.
"I'm sorry, Michael. I'm so sorry," Jason thought.
Later in London
After Jason got back from Siberia to England, he gave a fully detailed report about his mission to M back in MI6 headquarters. M wasn't pleased that one of her best agents was killed but at least the mission was a success because the alliance between Russia and western nations was stronger than ever and they had evidence about Oscorp selling high-tech weapons to the terrorists.
But what made the day not so celebrating was that Jason decided to quit the MI6. Of course, M and the others tried to convince Jason to stay but he has already decided and only asked them to understand his decision.
Speaking of Jason, he was currently in M's office making his resignation official.
"Are you sure that this is what you want?" M asked.
"Yes, ma'am. I have made my decision," Jason said.
"Very well. You may leave now," M said.
Jason nodded and left the office leaving M inside who sighed at the loss of another top agent. While Jason was walking through the hallway, he saw many agents and employees of MI6 watching him leave with sad looks on their faces. He hated leaving like this but he just couldn't do this anymore, not after a choice he had to make back in Siberia.
When Jason reached the entrance, he saw his old SAS team standing there.
"Connor," the leader of the team said.
"Captain Price, Gaz, Soap. I wasn't expecting you here but it's good to see you guys again," Jason said.
"Same here, kid. But it's too bad that you're leaving," Gaz said.
"Yeah, well. Some people just can't be in this line of work," Jason said.
"We know it's hard to lose a partner. I've been through it too," Price said with sympathy.
"Thanks, captain. But I should be going now, the taxi is waiting," Jason said.
"Well. if you ever need help, you know who to call," Soap said.
"Thanks, guys," Jason said.
But before he could leave, an officer walked to him from the hallway.
"Connor," the officer said.
Jason turned to the officer and recognized him as Colonel Alan Mace who worked for the UNIT (United Nations Intelligence Taskforce). He and Jason worked together once when the aliens called Daleks and Cybermen invaded Earth a few years ago. They were able to stop the invasion but they couldn't have done it without the help of the Doctor who was mostly thanked for the defeat of the Daleks and Cybermen.
"Colonel Mace, sir," Jason saluted.
"At ease, Connor. You don't have to salute me anymore," Mace said.
"Sorry, sir. Old habits die hard," Jason said.
"Indeed," Mace agreed.
"Did you come to see me off?" Jason asked.
"Yes, but I also wanted to give you this," Mace said.
He snapped the fingers and his assistant gave Jason a small suitcase with "UNIT" written on it.
"What's in the suitcase, sir?" Jason asked.
"Just a little gift as thank you for your help in stopping the alien invasion a few years ago," Mace said.
"Let me guess. You want me to open it when I'm somewhere with no people around," Jason said.
"Exactly. But I think you should go now, the taxi driver is probably getting impatient," Mace said.
Jason nodded and saluted before leaving the MI6 headquarters. When he was in the taxi, he told the driver to take him to the nearest airport. The driver nodded and started taking Jason to the airport. While they were driving, Jason carefully opened the suitcase the colonel gave him and took a look at what was inside.
In the suitcase was some kind of wrist computer-like device that was black but its screen was dark blue. There was also another device that was actually a wristwatch but it was black and its glass was dark blue. Along with those items was also a black gas mask with dark blue glowing eyes that seemed to have high-tech qualities. Jason didn't know what these devices were or what their purpose was but they had to be important since Colonel Mace gave them.
"These will probably come in handy, whatever they are. And maybe the colonel left a manual," Jason thought.
New York City in the year 2003
A year has passed since Jason left the MI6 and his military life. During that year, Jason has lived in New York City trying to have a normal life like any civilian. He had some difficulties adjusting to civilian life at first but he eventually got used to it and he kind of liked the fact that he could eat his lunch in peace and hang out with people without fear of getting shot every five minutes.
Speaking of people, Jason met a few of those during his time in New York. He had a lot of friends in New York but the ones he so far spent most of the time with were Peter Parker, Mary Jane Watson, and Harry Osborn who all Studied at the Empire State University.
Peter was a young photographer, Mary Jane wanted to be an actress, and Harry was a rich kid who was going to inherit a great company known as Oscorp. Jason had a few things against Oscorp because they made those railguns for Russian rogue agents but he didn't have anything against Harry.
While Jason was drinking coffee in front of the university, he was having a chat with his young friends.
"So let me get this straight. You used to be a soldier back in the day?" Harry asked.
"Yeah. I served in the British army for five years before I was relieved from duty," Jason said.
"For what reason?" Peter asked.
"I was wounded back in Afghanistan and my injuries put an end to my military career," Jason explained.
He didn't like lying to his friends but even if he wasn't in the MI6 anymore, he couldn't reveal classified information to civilians.
"Oh my God. We're sorry," Mary Jane apologized.
"It's okay. I kind of like being out here living my life without a risk of getting shot every five minutes," Jason said.
"But I thought it's not easy for soldiers to get used to civilian life," Peter said.
"Usually not. And it did take some time for me to get used to all this but it's good enough for me," Jason said as he took another sip of coffee.
"This may be a tough one but what was it like in the army?" Mary Jane asked.
"No offense but I really don't want to talk about it," Jason said.
"It's okay. We understand," Peter said.
"Thanks," Jason said.
After he drank his coffee, Jason was about to leave until Peter remembered something.
"Oh, God!" Peter yelled.
"What is it, Peter?" Mary Jane asked.
"I forgot that I must deliver my new pictures to Mr. Jameson soon," Peter said in a panic.
"Why do you even work for a guy like Jameson? He's nothing but a lying asshole," Jason said.
"Ouch. Those are some strong words, dude," Harry said.
"But Jason, why do you hate Jameson so much?" Peter asked Jason.
"As I said, he's a liar. And as long as he's in charge, Daily Bugle is more like a propaganda show than a newspaper," Jason said.
"I admit that I don't like how Jameson keeps calling Spider-Man a menace and says bad things about him but aren't you a little too hard on Jameson," Peter said.
"People like Jameson only bring corruption with their lies. You really should stop taking pictures for that bastard," Jason said.
After he said it, he left the three teens in their thoughts. While Jason was walking on the streets, he couldn't help but think about everything that has happened during his time in New York. Ever since Jason arrived in New York City a year ago, he knew the city was literally a huge mess. There was a lot of crime in New York, some corruption among the police, and the city was full of stupid people who couldn't see a clear or bigger picture.
That was mostly because people like Jameson always said bad things about Spider-Man and called him a menace even though he was saving and protecting the people of New York. Hell, even cops said bad things about Spider-Man and always tried to arrest him for being a vigilante.
"These people really could use a little slap in their faces," Jason thought.
He was taken out of his thoughts when he suddenly heard someone screaming in the alley. He quickly ran there to see what was going on. When he got there, he saw some thug threatening who looked like a woman with a knife but she had a robe that covered most of her body and her head was hidden under a hood.
"Give me your money!" The thug yelled.
"No! Please!" The woman begged.
Jason couldn't stand this anymore and decided to take action.
"For the last time. Give me... your money!" The thug yelled.
He was about to cut a woman until a pair of hands grabbed his head broke the thug's neck killing him instantly. After Jason killed the thug, he looked at a woman who was still terrified.
"It's okay. You're safe now," Jason said trying to calm the woman down.
"No! Don't look at me," the woman said.
"Don't worry. I'm not going to hurt you," Jason said.
"Please, I can't show you my face," the woman said.
"Hey, it's okay. Nothing's gonna happen to you and no one's gonna hurt you. I promise," Jason said as he gently put his hands on the woman's shoulders.
Somehow Jason's words calmed the woman down and she hugged Jason. Jason blushed a little when he felt the woman's breasts being pressed against his chest but his eyes suddenly widened when he felt that instead of soft skin, he felt fur touching his skin.
Jason pulled away from a hug a little and looked at the woman's hidden face but he saw what looked like a muzzle, an orange fox muzzle. The woman noticed this and pulled away from the hug.
"I should go," the woman said as she started walking away.
"Wait. I'm sorry if my reaction insulted you," Jason apologized.
"It's okay. I always get that reaction when they see what I look like. They think that I'm a freak," the woman said with sadness in her voice.
"I don't think you're a freak," Jason said.
As soon as he said it, the woman stopped walking and froze like a statue. After several seconds, she turned to Jason who looked concerned about her reaction. They stood there for a minute until they heard police sirens coming in their way. The woman turned back to Jason with a serious look on her face.
"Look. If you want answers and see what I truly look like, follow me," the woman said.
Jason hesitated at first but he nodded and left the alley with the woman before the police arrived.
Later
After they got away from the alley, the woman took Jason to her hideout that was located in the old underground settlement under the streets of New York. While they were walking past the settlements, Jason couldn't help but ask about the place the woman was living in.
"What is this place?" Jason asked.
"An old underground settlement that was built in 1930. The people who were poor or out of a job lived here back then but after world war 2, it was abandoned," the woman explained.
"You mean you live alone down here?" Jason asked.
"Not exactly. Others like me live down here but I'll tell you when we're in my home," the woman said.
Jason nodded and they kept walking until they reached the woman's settlement. She opened the door, let Jason in, and closed the door behind her. When they were in the living room, the woman decided that it was time to show Jason her true form.
"Okay. I'm going to show you what I look like but please, don't freak out," the woman asked.
"Don't worry, I won't," Jason promised.
The woman took a deep breath before she took off her robe and revealed herself to Jason. The moment he saw the woman's true form, he couldn't believe his eyes. The woman in front of him was some kind of female fox humanoid who was covered in orange fur. She had fox-like legs but she had human-like hands except they were covered in fur. Her head was also like a fox's with a muzzle and two long fox ears and she had nine foxtails (female Kyuubi/Kurama from Naruto series).
Jason was absolutely stunned by the woman's beauty. Not only because of her stunning look and beautiful crimson red eyes but also because of how sexy she was, especially since she had good-sized breasts with black nipples but luckily her private parts were covered by some clothing but they were a little worn out.
The woman was a little worried about Jason's reaction because he stood there in front of her like a statue.
"Uh, are you okay?" The woman asked making Jason snap out of his tea trance.
"Oh, sorry. I didn't mean to freeze like that," Jason apologized.
"It's okay. People always react that way when they see how ugly I am," the woman said sadly.
"No, that's not what I think. You're beautiful just the way you are," Jason said out loud.
But as soon as he realized what he just said, he covered his mouth while the woman blushed like crazy.
"You... You think I'm beautiful?" The woman asked as tears threatened to fall from her eyes.
"Of course I do. Anyone who thinks otherwise is either stupid or-"
Jason couldn't finish when the woman suddenly hugged him and cried on his chest, Jason was stunned at first but he slowly returned the hug. They hugged for a moment until they let go and looked at each other in the eyes.
"Sorry that I made you cry," Jason apologized.
"I'm crying because I'm so happy right now. Your words touched my heart," the woman said as she dried up her tears.
"Thanks. By the way, my name is Jason, Jason Connor," Jason introduced himself.
"Kushina Uzumaki but you can call me Kurama. I guess I have a lot to tell you," Kurama said after introducing herself.
"It's okay, take your time. And I think I owe you some explaining as well," Jason said while rubbing the back of his head.
Later
It took some time but Jason and Kurama were able to tell each other their life stories and how they came to be. Kurama was quite impressed by the fact that Jason used to be an MI6 agent but she felt sad for Jason because he lost his partner and friend during their mission in Siberia.
Kurama told Jason that she used to be a normal human being like him back in Japan until she was kidnapped and then exposed to some kind of mutagen that transformed her into the humanoid fox she is now, and she wasn't the only one. There were some rumors that some Japanese company called TCRI (Techno Cosmic Research Institute) was experimenting with some kind of new mutagen they developed and that Kurama and others like her were the first human test subjects.
A few days after the experiments, Kurama and her friends escaped from the lab and eventually got to New York to get away from TCRI. There have been some secret manhunts for Kurama and others like her but they were able to hide from TCRI agents in the old underground settlement they found when they got to New York.
Jason felt sadness and sympathy for Kurama and her friends but he also felt anger towards TCRI for mutating them, ruining their lives, and forcing them to hide underground because the people on the surface wouldn't understand.
"I'm so sorry for what happened to you and your friends," Jason said.
"Thanks. We have hidden from the world for a long time but it makes me happy that I met someone who truly understands me and what I'm going through," Kurama said.
"What about your friends? You said that they live here with you as well," Jason said.
"Yes, but they're currently on the surface looking for food, clothes, and other supplies we need," Kurama said.
"I just hope they won't attack me when they see me," Jason said.
"Don't worry. I'm sure they'll be more than happy to meet you when I tell them how you saved my life," Kurama said with a smile.
"Thanks, it means a lot," Jason said.
"It's the least I can do for saving my life, along with other things we could do in the future," Kurama said as she hugged Jason from behind and pressed her breasts against his back.
This made Jason blush like crazy but he really liked Kurama so he returned her affections by gently putting his hands over Kurama's.
"I like you Kurama but aren't we rushing things?" Jason asked.
"Don't worry, sweetheart. I want us to take one step at the time," Kurama said with happiness in her voice.
But their moment was soon interrupted when the radio in the living room started broadcasting.
"I'm speaking from the crime scene where the police are currently investigating a murder of a low-level thug. The witnesses in the area say that the thug was about to rob a young woman until a male civilian suddenly came to the scene and killed the thug in cold blood. The police are still searching for a man responsible for this but so far they haven't found even a trace of him. The police are also investigating Spider-Man's possible involvement in this murder."
Jason couldn't take it anymore so he asked Kurama to turn off the radio and she did because she also couldn't listen to the lies the reporter was saying. Jason tightened his fist and felt the spark of anger coming back to life once again. Even though he killed the thug because it was the only way to save Kurama, the people of New York still thought that it was just another murder that must not go unpunished.
"Is that what the people of this city want to do? To punish those trying to do the right thing or what needs to be done?" Jason thought.
"Are you alright?" Kurama asked as she put her hand over Jason's shoulder.
"I killed that thug to save you and those people want to punish me for it. I don't think I can stand it anymore," Jason said.
"I know and I'm grateful for saving me but most of the people in this city just don't understand," Kurama said.
"Which partly explains why crime is so high and successful in New York," Jason said.
"This is difficult for me as well but there's nothing we can do about it," Kurama said with regret in her voice.
"Who says we can't?" Jason said.
It didn't take long for Kurama to realize what Jason meant.
"You're not thinking about becoming a vigilante, are you?" Kurama asked.
"I know it sounds crazy and dangerous but someone has to rise up and fight to protect the innocents," Jason argued.
"Spider-Man is trying to do the same but over half of the people in this city hates him," Kurama said.
"Then maybe they need a different kind of hero," Jason said.
"What do you mean?" Kurama asked.
"I used to be an MI6 agent and I was in SAS before that. I still have my contacts and access to the military equipment," Jason said.
Kurama had a good idea of what Jason meant and what he was going to do and that she couldn't stop him. But how could she even think about stopping him after he saved her life, she owed him her life and it was her and her friends' duty to be there for him.
"All right, but you're gonna need help in this one. You also need a new outfit," Kurama said.
A few weeks later
It was a dark cold night in New York and the rain was coming. Some people were sleeping and some were doing their night shifts as the streets of New York were full of both lights and darkness of the night. But on top of the building on the east side of the city stood a lonely figure in a black military outfit with his face hidden behind a black gas mask with dark blue glowing eyes and the top of his head was covered by a black hood (Vector's outfit from Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City).
It was no one else than Jason Connor who has decided to be the one to fight against crime and corruption in New York and protect the innocents from those who wanted to harm them. But the way he was going to do it was something some people, especially Spider-Man was going to disagree with but Jason felt that he needed to do what needed to be done and what the people of the city didn't have the guts to do.
While Jason was looking at the city, he was contacted via his comm-link by Kurama.
"Jason, are you there?" Kurama asked.
"I'm here," Jason said.
"Things are going as you planned. The worst crime lords are meeting right now," Kurama said.
"I guess it's time to show those scum backs that the people had enough of their terror," Jason said.
"I know we already talked about this but I've got to ask one more time: are you sure about this?" Kurama asked.
"Believe me, I didn't make this choice without thinking it all the way through. Besides, no one else in this city is willing to make a difference and try to change things," Jason said.
"I understand. But I want you to know that no matter what happens, I and the others will always be there by your side," Kurama said.
"Thanks, that means a lot to me," Jason said.
"And you mean a lot to us," Kurama said with love in her voice.
After that, Jason turned off his comm-link and checked his equipment one more time. He had a black outfit with a black army vest and balaclava covering his head and face. But he also had the devices Colonel Mace gave him a year ago. The high-tech gas mask, the wrist computer on his left arm, and the wristwatch on his right wrist. It turned out that they were the UNIT's experimental equipment they only gave for their best and trustworthy troops and allies.
The gas mask was equipped with various modes such as night vision, thermal vision, scanner, it even was able to see through walls and eavesdrop on people's conversations. The watch he had was some kind of storage device that was able to store anything into the small dimensional picket in it. It mostly contained both human and alien weapons and some advanced technologies, both alien and human. When the wearer wanted a certain weapon or tool, all he/she had to do was to think and the watch would beam the weapon or tool into the wearer's hands. The outfit he got from the corporation called Umbrella was equipped with active camouflage that allowed its wearer to become invisible, it even could mimic other people's appearance as well. And finally, the wrist computer was in fact an ordinary computer, except it had a teleportation device on it that the UNIT developed after studying many alien technologies over the years.
After Jason checked his equipment, he activated his equipment and looked one last time at the warehouse where the crime lords were meeting.
"Okay, time for some action," Jason thought.
The events of the few months in New York
"We just received new details about the mass murder in downtown of New York. Several notorious crime lords of New York were gunned down in cold blood."
The crime lords talked about their business involving drug trafficking and arms dealing until the lights in the warehouse were suddenly shut down. While they were wondering what was happening, a hooded man with a gas mask walked to the warehouse. When he was above the crime lords, he aimed his assault rifle (AK-74M) and opened fire, killing every single crime lord below him.
"A witness in the area reported seeing a masked gunman with dark blue eyes who disappeared into the shadows, like a ghost."
After the masked man killed the crime lords, he ran into the shadows and disappeared from the area before the police arrived. Spider-Man also came to the area to see what happened but he along with the cops were horrified at the fact that someone just killed the crime lords in cold blood.
"Who could do something like this?" Spider-Man asked himself.
"Another case of the mysterious gunman has occurred. A thug who was about to rape an innocent woman was killed by a mysterious vigilante the people of New York have begun to call 'Ghost'."
While the thug held the woman against her will, he didn't notice that someone was lurking in the shadows. When the thug was about to rip off the woman's clothes, he heard steps coming from behind him. He quickly took his knife and turned but to his shock, he saw Ghost holding two pistols (Walther P99s) at him.
"Whoa! Wait, I give up," the thug said in fear as he dropped his knife.
But Ghost didn't listen and pulled the hammers of his pistols making the thug fear for his life.
"Please! Don't shoot!" The thug begged but it was too late.
Ghost pulled the triggers and fired multiple shots at the thug until he fell to the ground dead. After this happened, the woman screamed in horror as she witnessed the death of the man who tried to rape her.
"Now the question is: did Ghost strike again? Moments after Spider-Man apprehended a female serial killer, she was shot and killed by a yet unidentified sniper."
As the police were taking a serial killer to the car, a dark figure was watching them from the nearest building with a sniper rifle (Remington 700PSS) in his hands. Ghost looked through his rifle's scope and aimed it at the serial killer. A few seconds after that, he pulled the trigger and the bullet went right through the serial killer's head, killing her instantly.
The police were shocked at what just happened. But while the cops were frozen like statues, Spider-Man shot his web to the building and climbed on top of it but didn't see any sign of Ghost. The only thing he saw on the roof was the gun shell from Ghost's rifle.
"Dammit! I hate when they get away like this," Spider-Man thought.
"The Daily Bugle and its owner J. Jonah Jameson has been attacked. After Jameson published a newspaper where he claimed that Spider-Man and Ghost were partners in crime and the greatest public menaces, Ghost attacked Daily Bugle by destroying Jameson's office and parts of the building with a rocket launcher. Jameson and several workers of the Daily Bugle were seriously injured but fortunately, there were no casualties."
Jameson was currently checking his old newspaper with an unclear picture about Ghost driving a motorcycle as he was leaving the crime scene after he killed another criminal.
"Who is Ghost? He's a criminal, that's what he is! Just another vigilante and public menace just like Spider-Man," Jameson said as he put the newspaper away.
"He's a crime fighter. His methods may be barbaric but maybe he just wants to protect people from criminals," Robbie argued.
"By acting like a terror bomber?" Jameson asked as he took a cigarette out of his mouth.
"He's not a terrorist and he doesn't blow things up," Robbie reminded.
"Then why does he flee the scene every time the cops show up? And why does he wear a mask?" Jameson asked.
They were suddenly interrupted when Hoffman and Betty came to Jameson's office.
"What is it now?" Jameson asked.
"We have sold every copy of our latest newspaper about Ghost," Hoffman said.
"That's excellent news," Jameson said before turning to Betty. "And what do you have to tell?"
"We just received a confirmation from the police that Ghost did indeed kill the crime lords, rapist, and a serial killer," Betty said.
"Which makes turning this city against him and Spider-Man a lot easier," Jameson said proudly.
"I don't think it's such a good idea," Robbie said.
"Why not?" Jameson asked.
"Maybe Ghost will come after you if you publish another newspaper where you speak badly about him," Robbie said out of concern.
"Come after me? Hahaha, that's ridiculous," Jameson said as he laughed.
"The people are asking how Spider-Man is connected to this Ghost," Hoffman said.
"That's simple. They're both public menaces except one of them is an actual murderer," Jameson claimed.
"They also want to know how Ghost has been able to evade the police for this long," Betty said.
"Once the cops capture him, we'll find out," Jameson said simply.
Robbie was about to say something until he, Hoffman, and Betty froze like statues that didn't go unnoticed by Jameson.
"What's the matter with you? Why are you all staring like that?" Jameson asked.
Betty slowly pointed at the window making Jameson turn but as soon as he did so, he gasped. On top of the building on the other side of the street stood Ghost holding RPG-7 (with scope) in his hands. But what scared Jameson most was that Ghost was aiming the rocket launcher at him and the Daily Bugle building, Ghost also showed his middle finger to Jameson.
"Oh, Christ," Jameson said as sweat dripped from his head.
After that, he and his staff started running.
"Wow, he sure can move when he really wants to," Ghost said before he pulled the trigger.
The rocket flew from the launcher right to Jameson's office before it exploded. The explosion caused huge damage to the floor where Jameson's office was. As for Jameson himself, he and his top workers were caught by the edge of the explosion and were badly wounded but still alive.
Spider-Man quickly arrived at the scene but again he lost Ghost before he could even chase him.
"First he kills criminals and now he blows up Daily Bugle. Is this guy a psycho or what?!" Spider-Man thought.
"Jameson and his top staff are in the hospital now and we've been told that they will make a full recovery. But the question is: was this some kind of warning to Jameson and Daily Bugle for speaking badly about Ghost?"
A few days later
After Jason has been cleaning streets from criminals for several weeks now, he decided to have a little vacation before going back to the streets as Ghost. He was currently in Harry's apartment where Peter and Mary Jane were also spending time together. Most of them were happy but Peter was a little from all the homework, but luckily a cup of coffee made him feel better.
They were all currently on the couch watching the news about Ghost and what he has accomplished.
"The vigilante known as 'Ghost' keeps cleaning the streets of New York from criminals with blood."
"The crime rate has gone down in New York thanks to Ghost but at what price."
"It seems that the police are unable to stop Ghost's rampage."
"The NYPD has condemned Ghost's murderous rampage but some people of the city are actually glad that Ghost executes criminals."
"Please, turn it off," Mary Jane asked.
"I'm sorry, MJ. But this is the only source of information now that Daily Bugle is shut down until Jameson and his staff recover," Jason said.
"Speaking of, I heard that Ghost blew up Daily Bugle with an RPG," Peter said.
"Yeah. There were no casualties but I think Ghost's message was pretty clear," Jason said.
"If we didn't have enough problems with Spider-Man. And now we have another masked psycho who actually murders people," Harry said as he drank his martini.
"But has it ever occurred to you that the people Ghost has killed deserved to die?" Jason asked shocking the teens.
"What are you talking about? How can killing those people be right?" Mary Jane asked.
"Those 'people' as you call them were rapists and murderers. Now that they're dead, it's a lot safer to walk on the streets," Jason said.
"But it's not so black and white. Maybe those criminals deserved to die but killing them still doesn't make it right," Peter argued.
"You can't fight crime without getting your hands dirty. And some people don't deserve second chances or rehabilitation," Jason said before he left the apartment.
Even though the teens didn't want to admit it, Jason's words did make sense. But they still didn't like the fact there was a new vigilante in New York who was willing to kill. While Jason was in the elevator, he received a call from Kurama.
"Hello, Kurama," Jason said.
"Hi, Jason. Is this a bad time?" Kurama asked.
"Of course not. I was just leaving the apartment," Jason said.
"You might wanna come down to our hideout. We heard that some thugs are planning a heist," Kurama said.
"Understood, I'm on my way," Jason said before he turned off his cell phone.
"Maybe I should make a quick stop at the flower shop. I'm sure Kurama would like a little gift," Jason thought.
Meanwhile in Mexico City
Somewhere in Mexico City's old metro tunnels was a medium-sized room where a lone figure sat on the couch while watching the news about Ghost. The room was filled with weapons, tools, equipment, anything someone would either use to be a vigilante, criminal, or even terrorist.
The man on the couch was dressed in what looked like a modernized German officer's world war 2 era outfit and his face was hidden behind a high-tech breathing helmet that had two red glowing eyes (Colonel Radec's outfit from Killzone 2).
While the man was watching the news and his breathing sounds echoed in the room, he was thinking deeply under his helmet about everything that has happened during his time of hiding.
"It seems that my old friend Jason hasn't changed at all after all this time. Too bad for him that he still has his moral code and military honor," the man thought.
Then he looked at his right side where there was a small table with a picture frame on it. The picture was about Norman Osborn and his son Harry who were standing in front of the Oscorp building.
"You should have remained loyal to me, Norman. Your son is alone and he thinks Spider-Man killed you, all that because you tried to betray me," the man thought.
He then turned back to his TV where the reporter showed a recording about how Ghost killed the serial killer in front of the police.
"Make no mistake, Jason. I will return for my revenge but for now, I'll let you play the anti-hero," the man thought.
