I'm back! Thank you for the reviews.
I don't own Maid Sama! or any of its characters.
"Has it happened before?"
"What?"
"A drastic depletion of the choco chips stock."
"Haha, yeah. Thrice, I think. She has an admirable obsession with anything chocolate, so I have to put literally everything on the high shelves. But she always reaches them somehow, so…..she's probably having a portable ladder stacked in her wardrobe or something."
They looked at each other in the eye; and a split second later, they were both laughing loudly, causing passers-by to turn and look at the weird couple.
Reaching her apartment, the two walked in, and entered the elevator in a companionable silence.
Takumi watched Misaki press the '3' button, and step back, so that she was right next to him.
She glanced at him, and he smiled, gauging her reaction.
She smiled back, but as he observed closer, he could see the same melancholy residing in her eyes.
The same melancholy, which he saw when she was saying goodbye to him before.
She inserted the key into the door of her flat, and pushed the door open and said with a flourish of her hand, "Welcome to my humble abode. Please come inside and make yourself comfortable, dear sir."
Chuckling, Takumi made his way in. "My pleasure, milady."
Looking around, he noticed that the place had a homey feel to it, despite the clear lack of furniture. A few pictures of family and friends lining the walls, along with a few paintings.
"You like art?"
He appraised her as she nodded, eyebrows slightly raised. Returning his attention to the walls, he saw pictures of her with a slightly shorter girl, the both of them stunningly alike.
"Sister?"
"Yeah. She's finishing her internship this year."
"Nice."
There were a few more pictures, some with a couple standing next to Misaki, who were obviously her parents, seeing her resemblance to them and the few lines on their faces, indicating their slightly older age.
The rest of them were either with a younger Misaki laughing alongside a few friends, of whom he noticed the presence of a pink-haired twin-ponytail girl, and a more serious looking black-haired girl with spectacles, a lot.
"Those are my high school friends, Sakura and Shizuko."
Humming in response, he turned back and said, "Nice kitchen, for someone who 'can't cook'."
His fingers made quotation marks in the air, a teasing grin on his face.
She rolled her eyes at him in response, and said, "Well, we'd better get those choco chips to the shop fast."
"Right."
She strode forward, and opened a cupboard, taking a small jar out and holding it up for him.
"Is this much enough?"
"More than."
She stuffed it into her pocket, and then joined him near the door.
Adopting the same impersonation from earlier, he dramatically bowed, and said, "Oh, my fair lady, please."
Gesturing towards the door in the same flourish she had done earlier, he ushered her out, and then allowed her to lock up her flat, before he bowed again, offering his hand.
"I shall escort this fair maiden out."
Stifling a giggle, she accepted his hand slowly; and he actually stuck to his word, escorting her and all.
And then, dropping the act, he offered her his arm; and she stopped short, peering up at him through her lashes. Seeing that he was serious about it, she accepted his arm, looping hers loosely around his.
The feeling of her hand on the curve of his arm gave his heart a bit of a flutter; and he scoffed internally, thinking what he'd gotten himself into. Tamami would definitely laugh if she heard of this.
But then again, he still hoped that she might eventually seek him out as more than a friend; but since their relationship as friends was just developing, he'd thought it'd be better if he didn't actually start his advances. Until later, when she might be able to talk to him more informally. Today was a great start, and he couldn't wait to see how this might turn out.
But if she decided to not take things further, he'd accept it politely and stay as friends; even though he would probably be broken over it. He respected her as who she was, and taking this too fast wouldn't be good.
He had all the time in the world, anyway.
They had all the time in the world.
Or did they?
Hmmm, I've decided to keep you guys in the dark about what's eating at Misaki for a while. You guys will probably get to know as soon as Takumi gets to know. Yes, I know, I'm mean, and cruel, and...yeah, whatever.
Anyway, about Takumi's job in the manga; let's start from an apparently unrelated point. Do you guys remember when the two of them go to Kiyomizu temple? So they say that if you drink the water there, you receive good luck, which has 3 effects; health, studies and marriage. Now, Takumi asks Misaki which one would she be drinking. She replies, and I quote, "If I had to, I'll pick 'health'; because no matter how careful, somehow one might still fall ill...the benefits of the other two isn't as substantial as this one." And then we see Takumi with his thinking face on (though you can't really tell since he's always having a blank expression, Lol), but Misaki doesn't notice because she sees Sakura with Kuuga at that moment.
So I started thinking, because Takumi didn't have much attachment to his brother or mother, both who were afflicted with unfortunate diseases. And the guy didn't really look like he had much of a dream when he was a kid. So I was like, what's a good motivation for Takumi to take up this job in specific? Misaki, obviously.
So then I'm rereading the manga (for the thousandth time, lmao) and I come across this chapter, and then it clicks. The fact that he returned to England and treated his brother and grandfather was also probably because of Misaki (one, to prove their relationship; and also when he reasons out him wanting to go to England for his studies, as said in the 81st chapter). I'm not too sure whether you guys agree with me or not, but yeah, it seems like a pretty logical explanation (well, as logical as love goes, I guess).
Anyway, please review!
