Once they got back to Chicago they both still had a day before they had to return to work so thankfully they could continue their downtime. Jay couldn't help but notice every time Erin would gaze down at the ring that sat snug on her finger and it only made him realise that soon she was going to be his wife and he couldn't be happier.

Thankfully the trip home was much better then the trip there, Lily was feeling a little better and slept most the way. It was Sunday afternoon when they arrived home and thankfully Hank had invited them over for dinner. They were glad because it was the last thing they felt like doing.

When they arrived at Hanks, Erin noticed him look straight down to her ring before she had even made it through the doorway.

"I guess congratulations are in order then," Hank smiled and bought Erin in for a hug, then when he let her go he held out his hand for Jay to shake, "You done me proud Halstead."

Erin gave Jay are questionable look as they followed after Hank, "I'm confused, he's acting like he knew."

"Of course he knew, I asked for his permission." Jay smiled as he sat Lily down on the floor near the toys Hank had for her.

"Really?"

Jay nodded, "I knew how much it would mean to you."

"I love you."

"Love you more." Jay said pulling her in close to kiss her temple, then walking off to meet Hank outside.

Hank looked up from the BBQ and passed Jay a beer, "You didn't muck around then," he chuckled.

"Didn't want anybody changing their mind and it just felt right."

"Wouldn't have happened Jay, I meant it when I said she's lucky to have you, her and that beautiful girl of yours," Hank smiled, "Okay enough of the heart felt compliments, let's eat."

Jay chuckled, her didn't expect any less, Hank wasn't the one to dig deep with his emotions. He grabbed the plate of burgers and followed inside.

After dinner they all sat in the living room, Lily was sleeping soundly on Erin's chest as the men sipped on some whiskey.

"I can't believe she's eight months old." Hank said pointing to Lily.

"It's crazy isn't it? And to think she's crawling soon to be walking and talking." Jay said with a smile.

"I don't even want to think about it." Erin silently chuckled as she stroked her daughters head.

"What do you say Er, get that one home?"

"I think so."

Hank stood up, "See you guys Tuesday, bye princess," he said giving Lily a kiss on the head.

Once they got home Jay followed Erin into Lily's room, he watched as she carefully put their sleeping daughter in her cot.

"When we going to have another one?" Jay asked, moving closer as he wrapped his arms around Erin's waist.

"Not anytime soon, we are certainly not ready for another one."

Jay shrugged, "I don't know I say we are pretty good at this parenting thing and I mean look at her, we made a good looking kid."

"How about we just focus on getting married first huh?" Erin chuckled as they walked out of Lily's room.

"We could, or we could focus on," Jay paused as he slowly started undoing Erin's buttons on her shirt, "This?"

"I can definitely focus on that." Erin chuckled playfully as they quickly made their way into the bedroom.

Everyone couldn't have been happier for the newly engaged couple when they arrived to work Tuesday morning. There was lots of hugs and cheers and of course celebratory drinks organised for Molly's that night. Hank offered to babysit Lily which the couple accepted quickly hoping he wouldn't change his mind. They both could definitely use a baby free night out together.

Luckily for them it was a slow day but they were still over the moon when they joined everyone for a beer.

"I can't believe you's are getting married, I'm so happy for you guys." Kim said happily.

"We certainly do like to do things backwards and in and out of order, so it just felt like it was the right time. Didn't expect to ever get a ring on this ones finger though." Jay chuckled as he pulled Erin's hand up to kiss.

"I didn't expect to have an eight month baby unplanned so I thought why the hell not and of course I love you so that helps." Erin said as everyone laughed.

"At least try make it down the alter and of course you need a bucks party man." Atwater shrugged as he looked over to Ruzek and chuckled.

"Okay okay, these guys are trying to have a happy moment let's not think about how stupid I am." Ruzek said getting up to get another round, but not before playfully punch Atwater in the shoulder.

"Yeah definitely do that Erin, and Jay don't get any advice off Ruzek, doesn't have the best advice or track record when it comes to things like this." Kim joked.

"Definitely wouldn't do that but to be honest I wouldn't let her get away from me, I have already lost her once, ain't going to happen again." Jay smiled and everyone toasted them.

After Erin looked up at him as she snuggled into his side, "I'm not going anywhere and you'd have to cut my finger off if you ever wanted this ring back."
