Hey everyone! This is a little bit of a filler, the next chapter will be the wedding and maybe a little drama! I also have a couple one shots in the making but just need some sort of inspiration so bare with me. I hope you still are enjoying this story, sorry it took me so long to update.

A month later and it was the day before their wedding day, they had had a good weekend before for Lily's first birthday and of course they got question after question about when they were having another baby, of course Jay was keen but Erin was still keen to wait a little longer which thankfully Jay understood.

Erin hadn't heard from her mother again and no matter how much digging Jay done he couldn't find any reason for her popping up out of nowhere. Erin had tried contacting Bunny like she said she would, even though Jay was against the idea and she didn't hear back, so Erin just shrugged it off and didn't think anything else about it.

They were having a small ceremony at a park close to the district then the reception was at Molly's with their closest friends and family. Jay was staying at Wills tonight, Erin didn't want him too but he said that's one thing he wanted to keep as a tradition, spend the last night of being unmarried apart. Although he knew he'd miss his two girls a lot.

Erin and Jay were up early, Jay was working an overtime patrol shift that day and then they both had a full week off together. They planned to go back to Wisconsin for a couple days while Uncle Will babysat Lily and then maybe go away for a family holiday down the track.

Erin walked into Lily's nursery and caught her in the act of trying to climb over her cot, "Well good morning missy, what do you think your doing huh?"

Lily chuckled as she was picked up by her mother, "Mummy. Daddy?"

"Yeah daddy is out there go on." Erin said as she kissed Lily then put her down, the little girl ran off to find her father.

"Daddy? Daddy?" Lily said sadly as she stood in the lounge room cluelessly looking around.

Jay popped out from his and Erin's room, "Morning princess."

Lily smiled and ran over to him, Erin walked out and met them, "This little one was caught climbing over her cot this morning."

Jay gasped, "Are you a monkey?"

"Princess," Lily said as she shook her head.

"And do princesses climb?" Jay asked his daughter and she shook her head again, "Well then I think your a monkey."

Erin laughed at the conversation Jay and Lily were having, as much as she hated that Lily was growing up, the little personality she had was the cutest and her relationship with her father was even cuter.

"So how do you feel Er, only one more day until you become Mrs Halstead." Jay said as he put Lily down then walked over to his soon to be wife and bought her into his arms.

"So I was thinking I'd keep my last name," Erin said, Jay quickly let go and spun her around, shock written all over his face, Erin let out a little chuckle, "I'm completely kidding. I couldn't be happier."

"You better be!" Jay said then gave her a quick kiss, "So I guess this is the last time I will see you until your walking down the aisle."

"Again why did you think it was a good idea to work overtime the day before our wedding?" Erin said annoyed.

"Well considering we have a week off together I thought it wouldn't hurt and you will be busy anyway."

"I will still miss you." Erin said as she sunk into Jays chest.

"I will miss you too. But hey then we get to spend a few nights away together, just the two of us." Jay said raising an eyebrow seductively.

"Now that I am excited for, let's just skip the wedding."

Jay chuckled, "You're funny. Now I gotta go, you know I love you and I can't wait to see you tomorrow."

"Promise me you will ring tonight before you go to sleep? This little one will want to see your face."

Jay looked over to Lily who was happily occupied with her toys then back at Erin, "Just Lily?"

"Well of course I want to see you too," She smiled, "Now you better go otherwise Platt will have your head, also about that. Please don't get into any trouble, I want you looking as handsome as ever for tomorrow."

"Ahh so you don't want my rugged good looks to be ruined," Erin rolled her eyes, "I love you." Jay said leaning down for a kiss.

"Love you too," Erin said, "Lily, sweetheart come say bye to daddy."

She ran over and Jay quickly picked her up and threw her in the air, causing her to giggle, "See you later princess."

"No daddy, don't go." Lily said clinging tight on Jays shirt.

"I will be back before you know it, gotta go fight the bad guys." Jay said trying to pass Lily off to her mother but for some reason she was going through a stage and she only wanted Jay.

"No. No. No!" Lily kept repeating, tears filling her eyes, Erin grabbed her as Jay gave both of them a kiss. He hated how she did this but he knew after not long she'd be okay.

"Just go Jay, she'll be okay."

Jays face dropped but he started walking to the door, quickly grabbing his gun and badge out of the safe, "Bye you two."

"Bye bye daddy." Erin said waving, trying to get Lily to lighten up but she wasn't having a bar of it, but Erin knew she wouldn't take long to calm down.

Once Jay arrived at the district he rang Erin to check that Lily was fine. It always broke his heart how sad she got when he left, that was the hardest thing about working a full time job.

"Hey you, that didn't take you long to check in." Erin chuckled on the other end, knowing exactly why he was ringing.

"How's my girl?"

"You wouldn't even think she was having a meltdown half hour ago but you know this, it happens every time."

"Yeah I know but I just like to make sure she's okay and you of course too your the one that has to deal with the aftermath."

"I can handle it Jay."

"I know, I know. Anyway I better go, I will ring you tonight soon to be wife."

Erin rolled her eyes at Jays comment, even though he wasn't the hopeless romantic he defiantly had his corny moments, "Love you."

"Love you more, bye."

After Jay hung up his phone he entered the district and walked to the front desk, waiting to hear what he was going and who his partner was today. One thing he hated about overtime patrol, you never knew who you were going to get stuck with.

"Ahhh detective chuckles, good morning." Trudy said eyeing the detective up and down as he leant on the front desk.

"Morning Sergeant."

"No patrol today, intelligence done a major gun bust last night as your probably aware, so you have the pleasure of logging everything into the system."

"Let me guess, Erin is on your case about making sure I don't hurt myself before tomorrow?" Jay said raising his eyebrow.

"Just get upstairs Halstead." Trudy said bluntly not giving away anything.

"Sure thing, something new and excited." Jay joked but he got nothing from Trudy. So he sighed and buzzed himself up.

Once he was upstairs the team briefed him on the bust they did the night before. Then he went down to start logging them, he was glad that he didn't have to go out on patrol today because doing this was hard enough. The only thing on his mind was marrying Erin tomorrow and he couldn't wait.

As Jay was leaving Voight called him into his office, Jay was confused but walked in and sat down, "What's up sarge?"

"How you feeling? Tomorrow's the big day."

"Couldn't be happier, been waiting for this day since you partnered us up together." Jay chuckled.

Hank chuckled aswell, "Even though I told you to keep it in your pants and that Erin was off limits."

"Even then."

"So tell me Halstead, why are you working the day before your wedding? Risky isn't it?" Voight asked.

"Well eventually Erin and I want to buy a house, she's just worried that we can't afford it. I assured her we could but I still thought as many overtime shifts I can do will only help more." Jay shrugged.

"Yeah about that." Hank said as he pulled one of the drawers to his desk open and pulled out an envelope, sliding it over to Jay.

"What's this Hank?" Jay said confused as he opened the envelope, pulling a check out that had cheque with a very nice figure on it, "Hank, what?"

"It's my gift to you and your family, I have seen how much you have been putting in to support them, you need to be there for them more Jay don't miss out on all the little things. Hopefully this will help out enough so you don't feel as though you need to do all these shifts and miss out on quality time with your family." Hank explained.

"Hank I don't think we can accept this, it's too much." Jay still sat there absolutely gobsmacked.

"You don't have a choice, please just say thankyou and leave it at that."

"Thankyou Hank, thankyou so much," Jay stood up to give Hank a handshake, "Honestly I don't know how much to thankyou this is massive."

"Your family now Jay, you have made me proud and I'm so glad that I not only have you in my unit but because I see how happy you make Erin and Lily." Hank said bringing Jay in for a hug.

Later that night after a few drinks with the guys, as much as they wanted Jay to stay out he just wanted to get home and get a good sleep before the big day. And also he was dying to hear Erin's voice and see Lily's face.

He laid down in Wills guest room and clicked on Erin to FaceTime her,

"Hey handsome."

"Hey beautiful, how are my girls?" Jay smiled.

"We are good, I was just about to put Lil to bed." Erin looked down to Lily, the sound of her name and she had quickly climbed up onto the lounge next to her mother. She had the biggest smile on her face when she saw Jay.

"Dada." She said pointing at the screen.

"Hey baby, how are you."

"Miss you dada." She said sadly.

"Miss you too, but I will see you tomorrow and you will be all dressed up." He said trying to get her excited.

"Yeh! Mummy will look like a princess." She said snuggling into Erin's chest.

"You both will," Jay smiled, "Now princess I think it's time for your bedtime don't you think?"

She shook her head but Erin smiled, "Sure is, say night daddy."

"Night daddy," she kissed the screen causing Jays heart to melt, "See you 'morro?"

"See you tomorrow, love you."

"Wuv you." She said before hoping down.

Erin helped her then looked at her phone, "I will ring you once she's down."

Jay nodded, "Talk soon."

Jay waited for about half hour before his phone lit up with Erin's name,

"Well hello again." Jay answered happily.

"Surprisingly she went down without a fight." Erin sighed with relief.

"I thought Kim was staying with you tonight?"

"Yeah she should be here any minute, she was sorting a few things out. So how was your last day of being a free man?"

Jay laughed, "Meh was fine and my rugged good looks haven't been affected." Jay said moving his face around to show her.

"Good."

"You had it planned with Trudy didn't you?" Jay questioned already knowing the answer.

"Don't know what your talking about Halstead."

"Yeah yeah sure," Jay chuckled, "So had a chat with Hank before I left."

"What about?"

"He gave me our wedding present." Jay smiled and held up the envelope so it was in Erin's view.

"Okay well what is it?"

"Half of the money we'd need for a house, a pretty damn good one."

Erin was shocked to say the least, "Wha...what?"

"He figured that's the reason I was doing all this overtime, he wanted to help us out. Now I know you don't like handouts and you like us doing things without help but he wasn't going to take no for an answer."

"He must really love you you know." Erin smiled.

"It's all you babe, and our beautiful daughter."

"No Jay, don't do that. You know it's the truth, he looks at you like a son."

"Yeah maybe," Jay paused, "Even though he was tough at first I'm glad he's apart of all this, we are really lucky you know. We have both uhh...have lost people but at least we have another family, it's crazy sometimes but I wouldn't change it."

"Me either," Erin sighed, trying not to get to emotional but these chats with Jay were rare, so she had to soak it up as much as possible, "Anyway as much as I don't want to stop looking at those beautiful eyes this bride to be has to get her beauty sleep."

"Guess I will see you at the alter then."

"That you will," she smiled, "I can't wait to be Mrs Halstead."

"I can't wait either. I love you, have a good night sleep."

"Love you more, you too."
