Clark found his wife in their bedroom on a Sunday night, Jordan and Jonathan were in the barn finishing some chores, which only made him think back on his teenage years in Smallville and hoped the boys would come around to the move, Jonathan most of all, they both knew he was the one to have left more behind.

Natalie had been more than happy to comply, she never did like Metropolis, summers at Grandma's were her happy place, as for the little ones, they thought the fresh air would do their son good to help with Owen's health issues. which they tackled perfectly, most times, but still scared the hell out of them.

In fact, Everytime something happened to his kids, Clark didn't feel Kryptonian, he would feel more human than ever.

As for Hannah, the kid was just happy to be going into 'big girl school', it would be the first time in almost fifteen years all of their children would be at school at the same time and Clark knew it had gotten Lois all nostalgic, his wife might be the strongest woman he had ever met. Dealing with everything that came with being married to Superman, raising 5 kids and being a journalist, but in the end, she would let her walls fall and he would see how she allowed herself to be vulnerable.

"Hey." He said softly. "Hannah and Owen are down for the night and Natalie's in her room, making sure she makes it her own, she says." Clark said, kissing his wife as he knelt beside her. Lois had laid out old family and childhood pictures of the kids.

"I can't believe our last baby is off to actual school tomorrow." Lois sighed. "It doesn't feel real."

"I know, it seems like it was just yesterday we left Jordan and Jonathan in Kindergarten for the first time."

"Oh man, that was a hard day." Lois said. "I remember having Jordan clung to my leg until it was time to go. Jonathan just breezed through it as usual, but that look he me gave when we waved them goodbye…"

"I remember…" Clark smiled. "And from then, it seemed that for each of them it has gotten easier."

"Yeah, but I'd always secretly cry on the way home from dropping them off that first day and I don't think tomorrow will be any different." Lois said, grabbing another picture. "I mean, I know they'll be okay, but I just wish we could keep them being our babies a little longer."

"Honestly? Me too." Clark said, kissing her deeply. "I miss those days, especially with the boys, that they… needed me, and now they're starting high school and we still have no idea to what extent Jordan is like me and…"

"Oh yeah, that…" Lois huffed. "Don't remind me." As she turned to look at the pictures again, one of the most recent ones, they had decided to print out to have in the house, showed them just a few months back the last time they had seen Martha when they had been to Smallville before her death. Jordan and Jon both stood on each side of their grandma, while Clark had Owen on his shoulders, Natalie and Hannah knelt in front of Lois as she stood beside Clark. "This is such a good picture of all of us…With so much happiness. I hope we really do find our place here. Especially the kids."

"They will, trust me, Smallville is the perfect place for them to start finding out who they are." Lois stared at him again.

"What are we going to do about Jordan?" She asked, her voice switching somberly. "I am not sure we should send him to school, just yet. What if something goes wrong…"

"We could give him an ELT." Clark suggested. He'd been giving this a lot of thought. Ever since they had found out about the boys, and Jordan. "And that way if something does happen, I can just get there."

"And if you don't?" Lois said. She didn't want to bring him down and she didn't want to not allow Jordan to have a normal life, even if she believed that not to be possible anymore. "Don't get me wrong babe, I know, you'll be there, but I'm sure there will be times you won't be able to, because the world might get in the middle in the way but…"

"Lois…." Clark sighed, but he knew she had a point. They would have to talk to Jordan about school.

Just then, they heard the boys enter the house, dragging their feet up the stairs as they joked about how Jordan seemed to be as much of a farm boy as Clark at heart.

"Boys, we need to talk to you about something." Lois said, a moment later, as both parents entered the room. They laid down everything for Jordan, how they didn't think it would be good for him to be at school right away, because he wasn't able to control his heat vision or any of the powers that would eventually surface.

"So, what, now I can't even have a boring life at school… great." Jordan sighed, looking down at his hands. "You know, I thought this would be a fresh start for me, but I guess, I'm just going to be a freak, like always." He said, standing up and heading out of the room.

"It feels like home already…" Jonathan joked. "I need to talk to Eliza, do you guys mind?"

Lois and Clark felt defeated, but they figured it wouldn't be long term, they had to allow Jordan to go to school eventually. Or people would begin to ask questions.

First days were always hard, they knew that with having five kids in different academic stages.

"Hey Jordan…" Clark said the next morning as the other kids ate breakfast. He was still in his pajamas.

"Listen, about school, I know it's hard but I want to take all the precautions I can regarding your powers, teach you how to control them, run some tests."

Jordan stared at his father. "What kind of tests?"

"You'll see, you'll have to be ready by the time I get back from town, wear warm clothes and a winter jacket…"

"Wait, are we flying somewhere?" Jordan asked, a little excitement in his voice.

"We kind of have to." Clark smiled. "So be ready."

"Okay…" Jordan glanced over at his Mom for reassurance.

"Now, how about some breakfast?" Lois told both of them. Clark and Jordan sat down as the kids chatted away about their expectations of the day, Jordan suddenly looking forward to spending time with Clark more than going to school.

"You know what? I just realized something." Jonathan told Jordan as they were eating breakfast,

"Yeah?"

"I think this is gonna be the first time I've ever gone to school without you."

"Yeah, it is. It's kind of weird." Jordan agreed. "You'll be okay, I'm sure."

Lois stared at both boys, it was a realization that was hitting them hard, she had a sister of course, but she'd never understand just how deep the twin thing ran.

"Owen, honey, what's wrong?" Lois had noticed him being a bit down since the night before and today he just played with the cereal in his bowl.

Owen was their usually happy spark of light, but they all knew that just like Jordan, he struggled with things socially, not because he was reserved like his big brother, but because kids had made it harder for him to make friends, be normal, but upon his mother's question, he just shrugged and went back to his food.

Lois only felt more conflicted about this day and Clark knew it. For him, it was hard how even with the weight of his secret on his kid's shoulders, they still had to adapt to this huge 'normal change'.

"Why can't I go flying with Dad and Jordan instead of school?" Owen said after breakfast as everyone but Jordan got ready.

"Aren't you excited about your new school?" Natalie asked him as they walked out of the house and into the van. Owen didn't look too convinced. Lois knew he was nervous about starting at a new place. He was usually pretty outgoing if he felt safe, but with his health issues, they knew he struggled to fit in.

"Don't worry baby, first days are always hard, but it will be okay, you'll see." Lois said as she buckled Hannah into her car seat beside him.

"Yeah, and here, we're pretty close to the primary school, so if something does happen, Nat is in your same building and I'm just across." Jonathan assured his brother. "A teacher can come get us."

Clark and Lois stared at each other. Today was going to be a long day.

Natalie and Jonathan were easy to drop off. "And remember Jon, if anyone asks, Jordan is sick…"

"Got it." The teen said.

"Nat?" Lois then turned to her daughter. "You'll do great honey, both of you will. We love you."

"Yeah, I know, Grandma always said people in small towns take a while to warm up to outsiders so I guess, we'll be okay. Eventually."

"You're going to have a great day, all of you." Clark added with a smile, confidently. "Trust me. Smallville is a great place to grow up in."

"So we keep hearing…" Jonathan said, rolling his eyes.

They walked together as Jon had insisted on accompanying his sister in her class. She was grateful it was his brother instead of Mom and Dad dropping her off. It would be hard to shake that first impression with the kids she didn't want to start on the wrong foot with.

"So, do you really think we'll fit in here?" Jon asked as they walked.

"You're worried about football?" Natalie asked. She knew his playbook hadn't arrived and it would be hard to catch up without it.

"And you are worried about Jordan." Jon assessed.

"Honestly?" I'm kind of jealous that he gets to go flying with Dad and we have to go to school." She laughed.

"Oh, me too, you have no idea." They had reached her building by that point. She stop cold by the door. "Sis?"

"We're going to be okay, aren't we Jon?" She was suddenly nervous, he noticed.

"I thought you were the optimist…" Her brother said with a hand to her shoulder. "Come on, you are the smartest kid in that class, you'll do great."

Natalie smiled at him unsure. "That's kind of what I'm afraid of…"

"What do you mean?"

"What if I'm too smart? I mean, I did take advanced classes in Metropolis and that's why they made me skip a grade here. I'm twelve and in 7th grade. It's kind of terrifying to be honest."

And it was, Jon understood, his sister had always been smart and she was well beyond her years in school as well. Skipping sixth grade was a big deal.

"Hey, listen, if I can deal with the boys in the football team, you can do this." He said. "Don't worry, being smart isn't a bad thing and you shouldn't hide it."

"I guess." She said with a sigh as they heard the bell ring. "You better go, I don't want you to get in trouble on your first day."

Jonathan waved to her as he hurried across the yard to his own building.

Natalie took a deep breath before taking a step inside her own class, there were kids talking, backpacks scattered everywhere and no teacher in sight just yet.

She took a seat in the far back of the room, she didn't think she would need to draw attention to herself by sitting in the front.

She took a minute to look at the kids, they all seemed to have had a growth spurt over the summer. She was barely 12 years old. Her birthday had only been that past May and the girls and boys in her class all seemed to be so grown up, like Sarah Cushing.

Natalie took a deep breath as she saw a girl enter the classroom, barely avoiding being hit by a football and moving to a desk beside hers.

This girl looked more normal, more like her. She put her backpack down and turned her attention to her.

"Hi, I have seen you around town, you are new right?"

"Yeah, we just moved here a few weeks back, I'm Natalie, Natalie Kent."

"Oh, you are a Kent, I heard about you, about your grandma dying and you moving to the farm. I'm sorry about Mrs. Kent. I'm Olive, but you can call me Ollie, everyone does,"

Natalie smirked. "Thanks, you knew my grandma?"

"Oh yeah, she was like everyone's grandma, always so nice, my parents really liked her, we all did." Ollie smiled at her.

"Yeah, I used to love to come here in the summer and stay at the farm and just learn everything I could from her, she was the best."

"She really was." Ollie said. "So, is it weird to move to a boring little town from a city like Metropolis?"

"No, not really, not for me at least. I didn't like the city much." Natalie said. "I guess I'm a lot like my Dad in that way, he was always telling us how much he loved growing up here."

Ollie smiled at her. "It has its charm, most of the time." Ollie admitted. "Although I would love to move to the big city when I grow up, see, I want to be a writer.

Natalie felt like it was so easy talking to this girl, even if she was older than her, she didn't seem to be like all the others in their class, she just seemed normal, whatever that meant, Not that she really could judge normal anymore, after all, she was half Kryptonian.

"No Jordan today?" Sarah asked as she had offered to walk Jonathan to his class.

"Um, he's not feeling so good." He said. He saw Sarah's boyfriend and some of the guys on the football team approach them, and Sean didn't miss the opportunity to shove him.

"Heard the Kents were moving here for good." He said with disdain. "You're supposed to be what? Some kind of star quarterback?"

"I'm all right." Jonathan said, his eyes scanning the other boy's.

"Too bad." Another one of the boys said. "We already have a QB."

"How mature." Sarah told the boys. Jonathan still couldn't comprehend how someone like her could be with some dumbass like Sean.

"And we'll see how you do with our offense." Sean added.

"Some people think it's tough to learn, especially if you somehow never got the playbook." Another boy added.

He knew it.

Sarah offered him an apologetic smile. "Tell your brother I said hi." Sean said.

"It's outside, to the left." Sarah whispered, referring to the Word History class he still had to get to. "Sorry." She whispered.

"Thanks." He told her softly.

He might have assured Natalie they'd be fine, but he wasn't so sure. Jonathan had never felt so out of his element as he did in that moment.

Lois and Clark had decided to drop Hannah off first because they had a feeling it might take longer with Owen, "And remember sweetie, always listen to your teachers and try and be friendly with the other kids." Clark said as he knelt to her level in front of the gate to help her put on her small backpack. Lois smiled as the little girl nodded and whispered something to her father.

"And that too." He chuckled. "See? You'll do just fine."

"Ready to go in, honey?" Lois asked. She was their fifth child so they were aware of just how independent she was but this was still a big step.

"Lois, Clark?" It was Lana with Jake. "How are you guys, how's everyone settling in?"

"Hey, well, we're all adapting, that's for sure." Clark said. "Jake, are you excited about school?"

"Oh, he is, aren't you sweets? He's been talking about how he gets to be with Hannah this year." Lana said as the boy nodded shyly.

"This one too, I guess, it will make it easier on the both of them that they have someone they know."

"Right." Lana agreed to what Lois had just said. She glanced at Owen, who wouldn't let go of his mother's hand and looked incredibly nervous.

"And Owen guess what? Your teacher went to school with me and your Daddy and she's super nice, so I'm sure you'll be okay too." Lana said kindly. Owen stared at her.

"Really? Who is it?" Clark asked, with genuine interest.

"Lauren Stiles, she goes by Hale now, but she taught Sophie a few years back and she loved it."

"Guess it was bound to happen, she always did love kids and I remember she was the person to go to for tutoring."

"Not that you ever needed it." Lana told him. She knew how smart Clark had been and how he had finished school early, or at least that's what she and Pete had figured once he had disappeared from town and come back briefly only for him to move to Metropolis all grown up.

"So, no worries Owen, I'm sure you'll be just fine with Lauren, she's the best, I promise." Lana said once more as she noticed the hesitancy on the little boy still. "Well, we better go in now, class is about to start."

Clark nodded as she led the kids inside followed by Lois. It was good to have friends in town, even if he knew the rest of the family might have a harder time adapting to Smallville.

Lois's heart sank when Hannah didn't even have a hard time letting go of them when they hugged her inside the class when it was time to go. Owen gave her hand a gentle squeeze as they walked across the yard to his own building.

"She's going to be okay, if there's one of us that's good with change, that is Hannah babe." Clark said, his arm wrapped around her. Owen pulled a little back when they reached his own gate a moment later.

"Hey baby, come here. We've talked about this, right? It's just going to take a little time." Lois said kneeling in front of him.

"Yeah and your class is smaller than it was in Metropolis, so your teacher will have the chance to help you all better than back then if you have any problems." Clark added sweetly.

"Plus, I've already talked to your principal and Dad and I are just a call away." Lois assured him when it was her time to help with him with his backpack.

"Do you want us to go in?" Clark asked, Owen's hand hadn't left his.

The little guy took a deep breath. If his Dad was as brave as to defeat the bad guys, he could go in alone. "No, I think, I'll be okay." He said looking back at his parents.

"We love you buddy, today's gonna be great. I promise." Clark knelt in front of him and hugged him tightly. When it was Lois's turn she held onto him a bit longer.

"You've got this, you hear?"

He nodded.

The bell rang and they waved goodbye to him. Owen lingered by the door a little longer until his teacher, who didn't miss to wave at them, urged him inside.

Lois cried as they drove back to the farm.

Yep, after ten years of first days of school, it didn't get any easier.

"No phone today." Clark told Jordan as he handed the phone to Lois later that morning.

"Okay." Jordan said with a loud sigh.

"Hey, try to keep an open mind, all right?" His mother said, handing him his forgotten winter beanie from the kitchen.

"Okay." Jordan said with a light smile.

"I love you." His mother said with a hug.

"Love you too." Jordan had to keep an open mind about this whole thing, he knew that he'd been the one out of all of them to get powers, although the reason why was lost to him. He figured if one of them was destined to have them, it would be Jon, but hey, that's where they were at. His parents exchanged a kiss before his Dad was telling him to hold on tight.

He closed his eyes at first, nervous about the whole thing, but then he could hear his Dad assuring him he was okay, he could open them.

And he did, they were flying pretty fast, but he could still distinguish some things below. He didn't really have time to enjoy them though, because before he knew it, they had landed. "Why'd you take us here? I definitely should have worn better shoes." Jordan said as they began walking through the ice. "What is this place?"

"After my father died, I felt pretty lost. I had a lot of questions about who I was, why I could do the things I could do. So I came here, found my answers. Maybe this place can help you the same way it helped me." His father explained as they entered the igloo-like structure and he saw him take out the crystal.

"That's the thing from the ship."

"It's a sunstone crystal. Think of it as a computer drive that contains the entire history of Krypton." His Dad said.

"So you brought me to an igloo in the North Pole to read about Krypton?" Jordan said, shivering.

"Not read exactly." He added as the boy watched the holograms come to life. "More like experience."

He heard a voice begin to narrate. Yourfamily history begins in Krypton's second-largest city, Kryptonopolis….

Lois found herself at the diner since the house felt strangely empty without the kids. She was better at writing if she had noise around her.

"Lois?" It was Lana again. "Your house is too quiet, right?"

"It is. Hannah used to go to preschool back in Metropolis for a few hours and I had a home office but we haven't had time to remodel, so I thought this would be better for the time being."

"I get it, trust me. It's the same with Jake, I can't believe he's going to be gone the entire day. It was easier with the girls, I guess he's still my baby."

"I know what you mean." Lois agreed as Kyle joined them. "It's hard to embrace change, but I guess we're all adapting."

"Look, if you need anything, please don't hesitate to call. You know what? You should all come tomorrow for a barbecue. Yeah, it's one less meal to worry about." Lana added kindly.

"That sounds great, thanks." Kyle took a peek at what she was writing.

"You're writing something about Morgan Edge?" He asked.

"He's not as great as you think he is, Kyle."

"Well, he's bringing jobs to Smallville, so that's good enough for me." Kyle added as the Mayor greeted them, saying that they had everything ready for the night.

Lois gave Lana a questioning look. "Big night?"

"Oh, uh, there's a city council meeting tonight. So tomorrow, say 7:00?"

"Yeah, great, we'll bring bubbles…"

"Okay, great." Lana said. And with that they were gone.

She might have to do something about Morgan Edge and that council meeting later. Or her name wasn't Lois Lane.

And hope was starting to wane. The planet's natural resources were reaching exhaustion. As the people discovered Krypton's fate, peace devolved into war, accelerating the planet's ruin. Our home was lost forever…

Jordan observed in wonder as the hologram disappeared. "It's a lot to absorb, I know." His father's voice pulled him back to reality.

"How'd you know to do this when you came here?" Jordan asked, still trying to process all the information he had received in the last few hours.

"My father showed me. Well, the AI of my Kryptonian father. Jordan, this is your grandfather, the man you're named after, Jor-El." Another hologram appeared, the boy found himself locking eyes with the older man.

"You brought your son to me. Why?" His grandfather asked.

"Because unlike we thought, Father, he's manifesting abilities." His Dad said, suddenly, turning all serious, almost formal.

"Well, then… it is possible for us to further our Kryptonian heritage after all. And you, Jordan, you will be the one to do it." His grandfather's voice echoed proudly.

Lois's phone buzzed in her pocket again, she'd just received a text from her father saying he was on his way to talk to Clark.

The house was noisy again, she was grateful that each of her children seemed to have had an uneventful first day at school, even Owen seemed excited to tell her how nice his teacher had turned out to be.

They were all outside playing catch with Jonathan when she heard the all familiar sound of her husband's landing.

"Daddy!" Clark had caught his child easily as she jumped into his arms and started ranting about her day. "And then we had a nap and I made you a picture…" Clark loved to hear the pride in her voice. Jordan smiled at his sister as his siblings gathered around him to hear about the day he had and they headed back inside. Clark put Hannah down, promising to put the picture she had just given him in the fridge, it was a picture of all of them at the farm.

Clark was kind of grateful she hadn't drawn a cape on him. "Go baby, we'll be right inside and you can tell me mlte about your day okay?"

"Kay Daddy!" She agreed happily.

Lois came out at that moment watching her daughter follow the others into the living room. "How did it go?"

"Come here, come on…" Clark stretched his arms out to her, and she hugged him.

"What?" She asked as he pulled her even closer.

"I think I finally broke through." He kissed her forehead. "I'm gonna take him back tomorrow for some tests. "

"Told you." Lois said with a smile. She was so happy to see the look of relief on her husband's eyes.

"Yeah." He said with a shrug.

"That reminds me. Lana invited us to dinner at their place tomorrow night. So don't stay too late."

"Are you going somewhere?" Clark had noticed she was dressed to go out, her keys in hand.

"Going to a city council meeting about the Edge proposal." She informed him, his face fell.

"Lois, Lois, Lois, we're just settling in here." He begged. Much like their children would do.

"Only for a few minutes… Just to listen." That was a big lie. He knew his wife. She was about taking action, not listening. He rolled his eyes at her and then a sound caught his attention.

It was Sam.

"Yeah, he texted while you were gone. Said he was stopping by." Lois said with a sigh.

"Well, he has his work face on."

"I'm gonna take the kids with me. I don't want them hearing about some crazy person stalking their dad." Lois told him, kissing his lips quickly.

"So how was today without me?" Jordan asked Jon back in their room after their Mom had asked all the kids to grab something they would like to bring to keep themselves entertained for the afternoon.

"Uh, you know, it was… It was a lot better, actually. I think we should have done this a long time ago." His brother joked.

"Shut up."Jordan said playfully.

Let'go kids!" Their mother called from downstairs.

"Behave." Clark told the kids as they got into the car. He waved at them until they were gone and had been replaced by his father in law.

"We won't be here long, so don't make a scene. No fighting." Lois said as she settled the little ones with an iPad and headphones and asked Nat, Jonathan and Jordan to keep an eye on them. "Behave."

"Hey, Sarah." Jordan said with a shy smile as they saw the Cushing sisters.

"Hey." Jordan said as Natalie gave Sarah and Sophie a wave, sitting beside her brother and sister as the boys stayed with Sarah.

"Hey. You're too sick to go to school, but your mom brought you here?" Sarah asked, Natalie perked up as she heard her, waiting to see how her brother would get out of the situation.

"I started feeling a lot better, and, you know, so we…" Jordan began awkwardly.

"Mm-hmm. Jonathan, I'm really sorry about Timmy and the playbook. I would have done something if…" Sarah said.

"It 's all good. I got one now, so it's cool." Jon added, Natalie knew that it had clearly annoyed Jordan that in his absence, it seemed that Jon had done what he did best and had used his charm in Sarah.

"Cool." She said casually. Natalie turned her attention back to her Mom who was sitting in the back of the room, talking to some lady, she might not have super hearing, but if she didn't know better, that woman seemed to have a similar idea on that Morgan Edge man as her Mom.

And there he was, Morgan Edge, the man she had heard her Mom and Dad talk about, how everyone in town seemed to have complete faith in, specially Sarah's Dad, but her Mom's gut told her there was more to the guy that could be seen.

"Nat?" I'm hungry." Owen had whispered to her. "How much longer is Mom going to be?"

"A little while, okay? I'm sure this is not going to last long." Natalie said. Owen was clearly as bored as her, but they didn't have much of a choice.

"Come on, let's grab some cookies from the other room. I just saw some juices in the back too." Sarah offered to the little ones.

Natalie thanked Sarah and followed her, Sophie , her siblings and Sarah down the hall to the other room.

"Sure is quiet out here… simple. You still looking for the simple life? 'Cause those days are gone, Clark… long gone." Sam had said once their meeting was over.

"Let me know when you find the ship." He said dismissively.

"Why'd you move the family here? You took Lois away from where she needs to be, hurt Jonathan's football chances. Jordan's got no chance of fitting in with kids here. Natalie is a smart kid who had just the perfect chance to excel in school in Metropolis, and Owen and Hannah?" They didn't deserve to have to carry a secret I'm sure they barely understand. Must have had a hell of a reason."

He knew

"You told the kids you're Superman."

"Couldn't lie to 'em anymore."

"You sure as hell could."

"Sam…"

"You have any idea what you just did? You ruined their childhood, Clark. I've seen the toll this life's taken on Lois over the years. She never says anything to you, but I know. Now you're gonna put your kids through that same hell?"

Clark felt that accusation pierce through him worse than Kryptonite.

"This is gonna keep my family together."

"No, Clark, it's gonna tear it apart."

Natalie had sneaked back to the assembly as she heard her Mom's voice, she used to love going to work with her at the Planet and pretend she was a reporter too, she knew that Jon was right, she was a lot like her.

She could hear that Edge man talking, Sarah's Dad and her Mom. Lois Lane could stand her ground and she wasn't going to let someone that seemingly had good intentions but, honestly, gave Natalie a weird feeling right off the bat, manipulate the people in town.

She saw Jon beside her, he was kind of rolling his eyes in embarrassment as he watched their Mom go Lois Lane on the British guy.

The ride home had been a quiet one, neither Natalie nor Jon asked their Mom questions about what they heard, Natalie wasn't sure she understood, but she knew that town didn't seem to be as much fun as she remembered it, even from a few months back and she knew it was, mostly because people seemed sad.

Maybe Sarah's Dad was right. But maybe her Mom was too, and there was more to the story.

When they got home, Lois asked Natalie, Hannah and Owen to put on their PJ's as Jon and Jordan went to their room until their father got home

"So, how was everyone's first day?" Clark asked, he had finally had the time to relax, even if Sam's words still pondered in his head. Hannah was the first one to pip in that she and Jake had been partnered up. Owen had admitted his teacher had been really nice, just like Sarah's Mom had said.

She had told him he looked a lot like his Dad as a child and knew he'd make friends in no time. Owen wasn't so sure, he had felt okay all day and there hadn't been the need for his inhaler, but he still wasn't sure if he could fit in.

Natalie had talked about Ollie and her teacher who happened to know Clark too, just like Owen's. "Yeah, he said you and Sarah's Mom and him used to hang out."

Clark took a beat to her words, it couldn't possibly be Pete, last he heard he'd moved to Chicago for a big teaching position at some prestigious university. "He said he was sorry about Grandma and he'd come and visit soon."

Lois shared a look with Clark, having Pete and Lana back in his life would definitely help him deal with losing his Mom.

He still hadn't fully processed his grief, even if he kept saying he was okay.

Jon had remained quiet. He said he missed having Jordan at school and that he had finally gotten the playbook but that was pretty much it.

And Jordan, well Jordan was quiet too, even though he had had the most exciting day out of all them, having Sarah dismiss him like that a few hours back, had really brought him down.

"He knew my history, my weaknesses. He had kryptonite."Clark told Lois that night as they got ready for bed. He was in the bathroom and she was working on her computer in bed.

"He's from another planet?" She aske worriedly.

"That's what he said. He blames me somehow for it being destroyed." Clark explained.

"Well, you'll figure it out, Clark. You've taken on guys like this before."

"This is the worst time for someone like this to be showing up." He said with a sigh.

"Right when you moved your family to Smallville and you promised the kids you'd be dad of the year?" Lois said. Clark had now come back to the room.

"Your dad knows that we told the kids. He figured it out today." He told her.

"What'd he say?"

"Oh, you know, just that we're making the biggest mistake of our lives." Clark said jokingly, but with a hint of weariness in his voice.

"See, now I know we're on the right track." Lois told him.

Clark chuckled.

"What's that?" He said, looking over at her computer as he joined her in bed.

"It is about an article I am working on about Morgan Edge." Lois began.

"Edge?"

"He was at the Smallville city council meeting tonight."

"I thought you weren't getting involved." Clark said with a sigh.

"Well, yes, but then he started spouting this BS about helping the town. Morgan Edge is not here to save Smallville, Kansas. He's here for cheap labor because people are desperate, just like he did with New Carthage and Hazel Green and Granville. He is eating these small towns from the inside out." Lois said with a the same conviction that Clark had not seen in her in a long time.

She sounded so much like the Lois he'd met when he had first joined The Planet.

"Morgan Edge is a corporate vampire." You remember that Edge owns the "Planet"? Clark read as she handed him the computer.

"So?" His wife raised an eyebrow up at him.

"So he's not gonna let you publish this." Clark laughed.

"You know what, babe? You do your Superman stuff, and I will do my Lois Lane stuff. I'm serious, Clark. I'm getting this gut feeling that this is one of the reasons I was supposed to come to Smallville. I am not going to let Morgan Edge destroy this town like he did the others."

Clark sighed. Yeah that Lois Lane spark was making a comeback.

I'm back with a new chapter! Hope you guys are liking my take on the story with all of the Kent kiddos, I might do a sort of time jump next chapter to move things along a little.

And don't be shy to leave a review guys, they keep me motivated to write, also, I'm sorry in advance for any mistakes you might find. Only a few more sleeps before the new episode airs. Can't wait!
