It had been a full week since Jessi had become an official member of the League of Villains again, and today, she would finally be stepping back into the outside world to do a task for them. It was also going to be the first time she would be working with Dabi and Toga. For this assignment, Jessi would be taking the lead, as Shigaraki wanted her to learn some leadership skills.
The job was simple, one of the villains who was supposed to have taken part in a attack and never showed up, and they now were attempting to sell pillaged League information to a criminal broker. And the task was to ensure that the exchange didn't happen, and that all parties involved were promptly silenced. Kurogiri would warp the three of them near the location in Hosu, and they would carry out the task as efficiently as possible. Of course Jessi most likely wouldn't need the others as there would only be four or five people that they had to kill, but Kurogiri had suggested that it would be best to get some real combat experience alongside Dabi and Toga.
Also, today was the day of the UA sports festival, one of the most celebrated events in Japan, and although Jessi wanted to watch, she had something more important to do, and she could always watch the video's online after the event anyway. UA was the most prestigious hero academy in the country, and Shigaraki would likely task her with recording their quirks, so he probably wouldn't be missing out on anything.
"This is where I'll be dropping you off." Said Kurogiri as the three villains exited his warp gate, and appeared near the target location, in a dark alleyway under the daylit sky. It was the day of the sports festival, so the streets were not as crowded as they usually were as a lot of people were watching it from home, but there were still a few civilians out, so they would have to stick to the alleys to avoid being seen and catching unwanted attention. "Call me when you have finished, and happy hunting."
"Thanks." Jessi said plainly to Kurogiri as his incorporeal body dissipated into nothingness.
While Jessi was wearing her All Might hoodie. Dabi had his tattered dark blue jacket, and Toga wore her school uniform, but Toga also had on a blue surgical mask in order to conceal her identity. The dark circles under Deku's eyes had gotten noticeably worse too, in the last few days Toga had snuck up on him in his sleep to try and stab him several times, and so he had to remain extra alert whenever he tried to rest. She was an absolute pain to deal with, at best she was a thorn in his side, at worst she could be a complete and total nightmare. She acted like the stereotype of a teenage fangirl who had just met her celebrity crush, only cranked up to eleven, though Jessi supposed that in a twisted way, there was truth to that, only instead of begging for an autograph, she tried to steal his blood, and make additions to his collection of scars.
She had brought up numerous times that Stain was the reason that she became a killer at all. As for Dabi, his attitude was pretty much the exact opposite of Himiko's, in fact, he shared a lot in common with Jessi in that regard. He rarely ever interacted with anyone else, he didn't speak unless it was absolutely necessary to do so, and he always wore the same bored expression on his face. The similarities that he had with Jessi were not at all cause for the villain to like him or consider him a friend, but she certainly didn't hate him as much as she disdained Toga.
Jessi hoped that Kurogiri was right about these this. She had already learned what quirks they possessed, and the abilities they possessed were impressive, but a powerful quirk did not equal a competent fighter.
"Wowey! I can't believe that I'm finally going on my first adventure with Jessi! This is so exciting I could just die!" Toga squealed as she cheerfully jumped from side to side with a knife in her hand.
"Whatever." Dabi sighed, unentusiastic as ever. "I'm just glad to get away from that disgusting man-child. So where is our target supposed to be anyway?"
"Steel Jaws and his new friends are supposed to meet in a nearby abandoned fish processing plant. It should only be a block or two away so we should have no trouble…" Jessi was suddenly cut off as Toga tried to slash at her with her knife.
She slashed twice, the first slash was sidestepped by her, and the second was intercepted as she grabbed her wrist. She twisted her arm, forcing her to release the knife, and she squeezed hard on the point where her wrist and hand met, causing her to wince in pain.
"What the hell is wrong with you!" Jessi asked while shooting her a death glare. She said this even though she knew EXACTLY what was fucking wrong with her.
"I just think that Jessi would look a lot cooler covered in blood!" She excitedly yelled, as she tried to stab her in the gut with a newly drawn knife in her free hand, to which she responded by leaping back. "So please let me stab you! PLEASE!"
"You two lovebirds done yet?" Dabi annoyedly remarked.
Jessi then shifted her death glare over to Dabi. "Don't think I won't kill you too." She said coldly.
Jessi dodged another swipe from Toga before she grabbed her wrist again and pinned her against the wall of the alleyway.
"Stab and cut! Stab and cut! Stab and cut!" The blonde vampire laughed and giggled like the absolute maniac she was.
As she kept laughing louder and louder, Dabi and Jessi quickly realized that they all might break cover and attract the wrong kind of attention if she kept this up, and she knew that she had to do something to quiet her down. The first idea that came to mind was killing her then and there, but that would be counterproductive to the point of this mission. The second idea she had was to threaten her, but that failed to tame her. So instead she decided to try something new, something that she hoped he wouldn't regret, and that she knew she would.
"Fine." Jessi resignedly said as she shoved her to the side. "You can have ONE, and only ONE cut. But only after the job is done!"
"Yippee!" she leaped and shouted with joy. "You're gonna look so cool covered in blood!"
Jessi wasn't too happy about giving in right now, especially since he knew that Toga would take everything she could get with that cut. But physical pain was something that she had grown accustomed to dealing with, however the pain that flared in her head everytime Toga opened her fucking mouth was not.
At the fish plant…
"Jaws it's good to see you my friend! You ready to do business?" Mr. Buzz greeted with a wide smile on his face.
"Always." Jaws answered."The real question is, do you have the cash?"
"Of course I do! What kind of criminal do you take me for! " Mr. Buzz answered slyly as he showed him the leather briefcase in his hand. "Now let's see what you brought me."
Jaws approached closer and handed the broker a simple notepad. Written down on the notepad, were various pieces of information regarding the League of Villains. On it was the address of their headquarters in Kamino, some info regarding some of their underworld contacts, and most notably, they detailed that the organization's leader was a person called "All for One".
"Holy Shit! This right here is a gold mine that you brought me! You've got no clue how money I'll make from this!" Mr. Buzz greedily laughed to himself as he read.
"As wonderful as that is, aren't you forgetting something." Jaws said as he held out a palm.
"Oh, that's right, you thought that you were getting paid, didn't you?" the broker asked as he shoved the notepad in his pocket, much to Jaws surprise. "Well, I'm sorry to say but I can't let you leave. Ya see with this info, I could get myself one step closer to an early retirement. But I can't do that if you decide to run around telling every prick in the underworld for your own gain. It was nice doing business with ya!"
Mr. Buzz then flipped open the briefcase to show Jaws it's contents, or rather lack thereof, and then his two bodyguards began to move over to Jaws, who began to slowly back away, realizing that he had been betrayed.
But before any fighting could break out, the door on the side of the room, opposite to where Mr. Buzz entered from opened up, and three villains stepped in.
The trio had caught the attention of all four villains in the room, causing them to halt their activities temporarily. Jaws in particular was terrified at the sight of them, as he knew exactly what their appearance here meant. This was the League of Villains. Now they were here for him. Steel Jaws froze in fear as he realized his days were about to be numbered.
"It can't be!" was all Jaws managed to say.
"It looks like our intel was good after all, the targets are all here." was all Jessi said, before he stepped forward.
"Finally! I was getting tired of searching for this place." The tallest of the bunch said.
Realizing the intrusion, the villain in the luchador mask bolted towards the villains, reading back a fist, while the one with the sharp teeth stayed behind. Jessi wasn't sure if he didn't know, or didn't care who he was dealing with, but the man had made a mistake, one that Jessi would correct.
As the thug drew within punching distance of Jessi, he slammed his fist down by Jessi feet, or rather where they had been moments before. Jessi had leapt to her left, and she was now on the right side of her assailant, the side he had left defenseless by throwing everything he had into that punch. Jessi proceeded to run her blade straight into the nape of the larger man's neck, the villain spasmed on the ground a few times before he died, much to the horror of the other three villains who watched.
"SO COOL!" Toga squealed.
"These guys are nothing, just a bunch of grunts." Jessi disappointedly remarked, ignoring Toga's comment. "This is your first job, so you deal with them."
"Heh! I've been waiting for a chance to feed my flames!" Dabi yelled out. Bright blue flames gathered in his palms, and his lips twisted into a blood thirsty expression, and Jessi realized that this was the first time she had ever seen Dabi show any emotion at all.
As Dabi began to have his fun incinerating the criminals, Jessi walked out the same door she had entered less than a minute prior, and Toga followed suit, as she realized she had no way to contribute, considering how the situation had developed. Jessi had just pulled her phone from her pocket to call Kurogiri, but she was interrupted by someone who called her from the other end of the street.
It was a man who was fully obscured behind the white armor that he wore. It was the pro hero Ingenium, and he looked like he knew exactly who Jessi was.
"I knew that something here was off when I spotted that shifty looking fellow in the green suit! But I didn't expect to see you here, Jessi!" Ingenium shouted, pointing his finger at Jessi.
"And you must be with the League of Villains! I bet that you're the one responsible for the fire in that building!" Ingenium shouted as he pointed to Toga, and the blue flames that roared in the Fish plant behind them. "Surrender now, and you shall not be harmed!"
"Uhh, Jessi what should we do?" Toga looked to Jessi with a confused and nervous look.
"Simple, we fight." Jessi answered, drawing a pair of knives.
"So be it then" Ingenium solemnly said as he got down, preparing to take off in a sprint.
The two dashed towards each other, and by the time Ingenium had crossed the full length of the street, Jessi had barely cleared a couple of steps. The two clashed at the edge of the sidewalk, and both of their faces twisted in pain as Ingenium landed a solid power packed punch to Jessi's gut, and Jessi stabbed Ingenium in the knee.
For a brief moment Ingenium was forced to one knee, and Jessi took advantage of this to make a tactical retreat. Stomaching the pain, Jessi grabbed Toga by the wrist and ran into the nearest alleyway, and the adrenaline that was running through her.
When Ingenium stood back up only a few seconds later after pulling out the knife that was lodged in his knee, he dashed for the same alleyway that he had seen Jessi and Toga head into. When he rounded the corner, he didn't see either of them, instead his helmeted head was hit by a metal trash can lid that had been flung at him like a frisbee. When he finally readjusted his helmet so that he could see again, the two villains had completely vanished from sight.
Jessi and Toga were hiding behind a dumpster in an alleyway after escaping Ingenium, Jessi had just bought them some time by throwing that trash can lid. She wondered what they should do next, they could try and stay hidden, but that might not work, and she wasn't sure if she could take Ingenium head on either, Ingenium was a cut above the heroes. But she suddenly realized that she didn't need to do this alone.
"Toga, listen up, we don't have much time before he finds us. But I have a plan, can you follow my lead?" Jessi urgently whispered to her.
"Yeah, anything." she responded, but this time her face turned serious, she clearly understood the gravity of the situation.
As Ingenium rounded yet another corner in the tangle of alleyways, he finally spotted Jessi once again, and he prepared to fight.
"This is your last chance, surrender now!" Ingenium gave her one last warning, even though he knew it wouldn't be heeded.
Jessi ran over to attack Ingenium, with a pair of knives in his hands. Ingenium dodged Jessi's attack, and kicked her in the stomach, Jessi was almost knocked back but she just barely managed to steady herself enough to prepare to dodge the next attack that was sent by Ingenium. Ingenium had managed to push Jessi on the defensive early on, however Ingenium found it hard to hit Jessi, and for a full 20 seconds he had been unable to hit the villain who dodged with the practiced grace of an acrobat, until he finally found an opening.
Ingenium sent an uppercut and finally knocked Jessi off her feet, and onto her back where she succumbed to her pain.
"You're finished! So you might as well tell me where your accomplice went!" declared Ingenium, believing he had won the fight. But Jessi suddenly started to laugh, and she began to melt like butter.
"Hee hee hee! What are you talking about? I'm right here!" the facade of Jessi began to melt away into sludge, revealing the ash-blonde girl who was Himiko Toga.
"What?! If you're here, then where is…" Ingenium shouted in panic, but he suddenly felt a presence above him, and as he looked up he saw Jessi, the real Jessi, jumping down from the rooftop straight for him, like a winged demon descending upon the Earth.
Right then and there Ingenium died in a bloody mess, when Jessi jumped down, she was holding a meter long piece of rebar like a spear and she used it to impale Ingenium straight down through the left collarbone, piercing his heart, and killing him instantly.
Toga suddenly ran straight at her and moved to tackle her. Jessi tried to brace for her impact, but now that the adrenaline had left her system, the pain in her stomach came back like a bus, and she helplessly fell down as Toga's now naked body collapsed on top of her.
"JESSI THAT WAS SOOOOO COOL!" she yelled as she raised a knife to cut her. Jessi almost tried to resist, but she remembered the promise she had made to her earlier, and she simply let her claim her well earned reward.
Dabi suddenly appeared, Jessi called Kurogiri. Moments later the villain trio disappeared into a black portal.
