Hey everyone! Sorry for not posting for so long. Had a bit of the ol' writers block for this chapter, plus got caught up working on some other things. These filler chapters actually take more work when you're adding story completely from scratch. But this is the last one for the 'year of training' phase. Next chapter will move into when the saiyans arrive and we'll get back to the main plot. But for now, I hope everyone finds this at least somewhat entertaining.
Days past, which quickly seemed to blend into weeks, and then months. Throughout all of this, nothing much changed beyond an occasional new exercise or, the passing on of a technique or two.
Until one particular morning rolled around where Rinka was just not feeling it! While everyone else got up, went to breakfast, and got themselves ready for the day, she remained prostrate on her bedroll staring blankly at the ceiling. It wasn't long before her presence was missed, however.
"Uh, Rin?" Krillin asked as he poked his head back into the room. "You planning on joining us anytime soon?" he wondered at her.
"No," she muttered back flatly. He fixed her with a confused look.
"Whadaya mean, 'no'?" he inquired incredulously.
"Nooooooo!" she wailed, flailing her arms and legs around in the air. "I'm sick of training!"
"What? But the year is almost over! We don't have much time before the saiyans get here," he argued, wandering deeper into the room. "You can't give up now!"
"I'm not giving up!" she snapped. "I just – I want a break! Can't we take a break? Just for one day?" she lamented, rotating her head to peer up at him. "All work and no play makes Rin grumpy!" she pouted.
He laughed and shook his head, kneeling down beside her.
"I don't know, Rin. The others might not like the idea. I mean, we should really be taking every moment we can to train if we want to have any hope of winning," he reasoned.
"Well, that's what I'm worried about!" She rolled over onto her stomach, so she could get a better look at him. "What happens, if we don't win? What if we take this time to do all this training, and it's still not enough? I was just thinking, if we really only have a couple more months left to live, I'd like to take at least one day for us to, do something fun together," she explained, gazing up at him with a longing look.
"Gee, kid. Thanks for the vote of confidence," Krillin joked, but Rinka didn't take it that way.
"I didn't mean it like. . ." she trailed, before sighing in defeat. "Never mind," she mumbled and turned away.
"Ugh!" Krillin groaned, throwing his head back in protest to her response. "It's not like I don't get where you're coming from, but – well –" he paused for a moment before looking back down at her with a quizzical eye. "What exactly did you have in mind?" he wondered.
Rinka flushed a bit, and poked her fingers together as she adverted her gaze to the floor.
"I was just thinking, that it might be fun to, uh, spend a day, at the beach?" she mumbled out, and then glanced up at him to see how he would react.
"Really? That's all you wanna do? Hang out at the beach?" he asked with a quizzical brow.
"Yeah. I mean, the only time I've ever even seen the ocean was when dad brought us to Master Roshi's house to meet all of you. But then we didn't even get to do anything before, well, you know." She really didn't think she needed to remind him of the events that got them all in this situation in the first place.
"I suppose you do have a point," Krillin agreed. "Welp, I guess let's go then," he decided, pushing himself back onto his feet. "It never hurts to ask, right?" he suggested with a grin.
To which Rinka broke out into a huge smile of her own, quickly hopping up and follow him out of the room.
. . .
"A beach day?" Yamcha asked skeptically, after Krillin had announced the idea to the room.
"Yeah, I mean, it would just be for the day. So, what do you guys think?" Krillin inquired of the group, with Rinka hunched behind him, looking hopeful.
Tien was the first to jump on this, and of course, quickly attempt to shut it down.
"Don't be ridiculous! We can't afford to waste time! If we want to have any hope of defeating those saiyans, we have to spend every moment we have training," he lectured, shooting a scowl in Rinka's direction.
Even though Krillin was doing the asking, it was easy enough to figure out that it had been her idea.
"But. . ." she trailed for a moment, trying to find the best way to continue without incurring his wrath. "I just thought it might nice to, do something fun together. Just in case?" she offered hesitantly.
"I think taking a day off sounds great!" Yamcha decided with a shrug. "This constant, break-neck training has got me feeling wore out too!" he added, rolling his shoulders before reaching around to rub at one.
"Then you guys go! But I'm not about to start on shirking my training!" he snapped back.
"It won't be the same without you, though," she tried, hoping more than believing that maybe a more gentle approach might help him relax a little!
To her surprise, he looked a bit stymied by the comment. He opened his mouth, as if he'd already had another argument ready, but then nothing came out. Meanwhile, Chiaotzu was glancing around at everyone with concern. He then took this opportunity to wander up to where Tien was sitting.
"Rinka's right, Tien. I wanna go to the beach, but – I don't wanna go without you, either. Can we please go too? Please?" he pleaded, gazing up at his best friend with the same eyes that Rinka had used on Krillin earlier.
Tien's expression noticeably softened.
"Chiaotzu. . ." he trailed reluctantly, looking like he still wanted to say no, but didn't have the heart to do it.
"Come on, dude. It's just for one day," Yamcha encouraged.
"Well –" Tien began, but was interrupted by Kami's sudden appearance in the room.
"Good morning, everyone. What are you all discussing?" he wondered.
"Oh! Hi Kami! We were just talking about maybe taking a day off to rest and go to the beach. What do you think about that?" Krillin explained to him.
"I think that sounds like an excellent idea," Kami agreed with a soft smile. "While training is important, giving your body and mind time to rest can be just as vital. After all, how can you expect to be at your strongest if you're exhausted from training?" he reasoned.
"Exactly!" Rinka proclaimed, gesturing towards him.
She hoped having Kami on board would be the push they needed to help convince Tien. She moved over in front of him next to Chiaotzu.
"Please, Tien?" she piled on, both of them gazing up at him with pleading eyes. She wasn't sure if her addition would make a difference, but it couldn't hurt, right?
"Oh, alright already!" he finally consented with a huff. "But then we get right back to training starting first thing tomorrow morning," he lectured down at them.
"Deal!" both Rinka and Chiaotzu cheered simultaneously, slapping their hands together in an enthusiastic high five. Immediately after that, Rinka flipped around and zoomed out of the room.
"Hey! Where ya goin', Rin?" Krillin called after her.
"To get beach stuff!" They heard her holler back, eliciting a chuckle from the others.
. . .
Several minutes later, everyone had successfully changed into proper swimming attire and made their way to the nearest ocean front. They landed in a secluded area of forest before hiking the rest of the way on foot, the guys explaining that it was easier than dealing with gawking strangers.
Rinka could barely contain the glee swelling inside her once the water came into view. The sea was a bright blue/green, shining in the spectacular sunlight currently beaming down from a cloudless sky.
Multiple fellow beach goers were already walking along the sandy sore, staking out their spots for the day with large, colorful towels and chairs. Vendors having just opened for business were also milling about. The tantalizing smell of seafood and fried noodles wafting from the various food stalls. This was going to be a good day!
Armed with a volleyball and a towel of her own, Rinka was currently dressed in a black, sporty bikini top with a teal decal and matching board shorts. Meanwhile, the guys all had swim trunks of varying colors. However, at seeing the beach, Rinka immediately abandoned her cargo, dropping it to the sand. She flipped around and excitedly threw her arms around Krillin's middle.
"Thank you! Thank you!" she cheered merrily, before releasing him and making a crazy, mad dash towards the water.
Chiaotzu wasn't far behind, running right at her heels.
"Beach! Beach!" They both chanted happily.
Krillin couldn't help but laugh at their antics as he picked up the girl's discarded belongings for her, while Yajirobe shook his head next to him.
"Man, that girl sure does love you," he commented slyly towards the bald monk.
"Huh? What are you talking about?" he wondered.
"Oh, come on. You don't see her goin' around huggin' on the rest of us," he pointed out, as the guys began to meander towards where Rinka and Chiaotzu had run off.
"Don't be silly. Rinka likes all of us," Krillin tried to reason, and to push down the strange, embarrassed feeling that the comments were creating.
"Actually, I'd have to agree with Yajirobe on this one. You might be right that she likes all of us, but it's clear she's taken a particular shine to you. You're obviously her favorite," Yamcha teased with a big grin.
Krillin felt his face flush a bit at the implications, but quickly shook it off. He'd never been anyone's favorite – anything, before. So, why would that change now?
"Yeah, whatever you guys," he casually waved them off. Yamcha and Yajirobe exchanged knowing glances behind him.
A minute later, they'd managed to catch up with Rinka and Chiaotzu to find them already sopping wet.
"You guys coming in? The water feels great!" Rinka told them.
"How about we find a spot to put our stuff down first?" Yamcha suggested with an amused air.
Rinka began glancing around in response.
"Oooo! How about over by the volleyball nets? That way we'll be right next to them when we're ready to play," she offered, gesturing off to towards the several empty courts to the left.
"Good plan, kid," Yamcha agreed. Meanwhile, Tien was standing a little ways off with Chiaotzu, busy giving him a lecture about getting all wet before they'd had a chance to put any sunscreen on him.
No sooner had they managed to lay out the towels and set up a beach umbrella, that Rinka began impatiently tugging on Krillin to get him to come into the water with her.
"Alright, Rin. I'm coming," he placated her, letting her pull him to the shoreline.
However, as soon as his feet hit the water, he immediately yanked his hand away and took several staggering steps backward with a cry.
"You guys are crazy! That water is freezing!" he whined.
"Oh, come on. It can't be that bad," Yamcha scoffed, walking into the tide. Unfortunately for him, he had pretty much the same reaction Krillin did once the water washed over him. "Ha!" he exclaimed with clear discomfort. "Yeah, okay, this is pretty much ice-water," he decided, retreated back to the comfort of the warm sand.
"Wait! So, you guys really aren't gonna get in?" Rinka asked with clear disappointment.
"Um, maybe later. I think I'm just gonna do some sun bathing for now," Krillin told her.
Rinka just gave him a pout, crossing her arms. She knew better than that! Whenever a grownup would say, 'maybe later', what it really means is 'not ever'!
However, a moment later, Rinka's expression shifted into a scheming smirk as a rather devious plan began to form in her mind. If the guys were refusing to get in the water, then maybe she should bring the water to them.
She contemplated using her powers for half a second, before realizing that would probably be frowned upon. This place was much too crowded. It would be sure to draw attention. Then her eyes spied Chiaotzu's bucket.
Casually, she moseyed over and plucked it up, making her way to the water's edge to fill it to the brim. Then she began to meander back towards Krillin's direction. He took one look at her with the bucket and immediately began to back away.
"Wait, Rin – No!" he attempted to scold her, putting his hands out in a defensive gesture.
She flashed him a wicked grin, knowing that he wouldn't be able to use his powers either. She currently had the advantage.
"What's wrong, Krillin? I was just getting some water for mine and Chiaotzu's sand castle," she told him, with obvious fake innocence.
"Like hell, you are," he snapped with a very dubious tone.
"Alright, you got me," she admitted with a shrug, before lifting the bucket up over her head.
"No!" he squealed again, and took off running.
Rinka was right on his heels chasing him, cackling with maniacal laughter. The others watched the spectacle with amused expressions.
Eventually, Rinka was able to catch up with him enough to try hitting him with the water. It wasn't completely drenching, but a good portion of it managed to connect with his back. He yelped in displeasure before flipping around and fixing her with a withering glare. She just grinned back at him.
"Will you swim with me now?" she inquired sweetly.
"I'm certainly gonna do something with you now!" he threatened before advancing on her.
Rinka let out a squeal of her own, abandoning the bucket to turn and dash away. And so the chase resumed, albeit in the opposite direction, with her giggling like mad the entire time.
After a while, they grew tired of chasing each other around, and the others decided they were ready for some volleyball. The next order of business was deciding how to divvy everybody up.
"Well, since there's six of us, the most logical way to split up would be three on three," Yamcha suggested.
"That's fine, so long as both the tall guys aren't on the same team," Yajirobe muttered.
"That seems fair. So, Yamcha will be on one side, and I'll be on the other," Tien agreed.
"Alright, in that case, I'll take Krillin and the runt," Yamcha announced.
"Hey, I am not a runt!" Chiaotzu protested grumpily.
"I wasn't talking about you," he shot back, before flashing Rinka with a knowing smile.
"I won't be runty forever, you know," she argued, but moved over to stand next to him and Krillin nonetheless.
Tien nodded in approval at the team selections, and they each took a side of the net, flipping a coin to see who would serve first.
In the beginning, the game had a rather relaxed feel to it, the ball being passed back and forth over the net in a leisurely manner. That is, until the first point was scored, Chiaotzu flying up to spike the ball in a way that Rinka couldn't anticipate. She dove for it, but missed, and it hit the sand with a dull thud. Yamcha glared irritability at the pale, floating figure.
"Hey! You can't fly! That's cheating!" he complained.
"You never said we couldn't fly!" Chiaotzu argued back, crossing his arms in a pout.
"That's true, but normally I'm pretty sure there's no flying in volleyball," Rinka pointed out, rising to brush herself off.
"Rules or not, we shouldn't be using our powers out in public, or we're gonna draw a lot of unwanted attention!" Krillin stressed, glancing around worriedly and waving Chiaotzu down in a frantic manner. He complied, landing back on the sand a moment later.
"But, it's not fair!" he protested, staring up at his significantly taller best friend.
"Krillin does have a point though," Tien told him. "How about this, you can use your energy to help you jump, but no flying," he suggested instead.
"Yeah, okay," Chiaotzu agreed.
"That's more fair, anyway. Since not all of us can fly, ya know!" Yajirobe mentioned in a grumble.
"Alright, fine. You guys get that point, but it's on now!" Yamcha challenged with a grin.
The back and forth started to get much more aggressive after that, the teams being pretty evenly matched for the most part. That is, until, Rinka managed to land a lucky hit that ended up right inside the line next to Yajirobe.
"Nice shot, Rin!" Yamcha praised, while she and Krillin exchanged a high five.
The others were not looking at all pleased with this turn of events. Tien especially, now looking more determined than ever to gain back the lost ground so that they could take the win. He demonstrated this by, during the next exchange, lobbing a particularly powerful spike right at Krillin when he didn't appear to be fully prepared.
Due to the unexpectedness of the move, the ball ended up plowing itself right into the middle of the poor guy's face! He fell over backwards, looking dazed and confused, while the ball left a dark, red mark across his head!
Rinka's immediate response was to gasp and rush over to her fallen friend, not even caring where the ball had ended up.
"Ohmygosh! Krillin! Are you okay?" she wondered with concern, kneeling next to him to get a closer look.
"Oh, sure. It was just my face. Not like I was using it for much, anyway," he wheezed out in a spacey manner.
Rinka grinned at the joke and helped him sit up as the others began to gather around as well.
"Look on the bright side. For once, it's good you don't have a nose. Otherwise, it'd probably be broken right now!" Yamcha teased with a hearty laugh.
Krillin glared back at him, and was about to comment, but didn't get the chance before several large shadows were suddenly cast over them, drawing their attention.
The group turned and glanced up to find three, pretty big, mean looking dudes standing over them. They were sporting angry scowls behind their dark sunglasses. The one in the middle, who Rinka assumed must be some kind of group leader, seemed to currently have their ball tucked under his arm. He stepped forward a bit to address them.
"Hey! What do you lot think you're doing?" he snapped.
"Uh, playing volleyball?" Yamcha told him in an obvious tone.
"Everyone who comes to this beach knows that this is our spot! So, you all had better move along now," he ordered, waving them off.
Tien glared at the guy, before picking himself up to his full height and moving over to face him.
"Not sure if you noticed, but we were here first. This is a public beach. Last time I checked, you couldn't just claim a piece of it as only yours," he argued back.
"Then I guess you haven't heard what happens to jerks who try and horn in on our turf," he subtly threatened.
Tien growled back as Yamcha stepped up to join him.
"Oh yeah? You guys think you can make us move, do ya?"
Yamcha flashed them a sinister grin, cracking his knuckles in anticipation of a fight. However, Tien quickly put up a hand and shook his head, discouraging him against violence.
"No, Yamcha. There are too many people here. This is a fight we won't be able to win without consequences," he warned.
"Like what?!" he barked back irritably.
"Like, getting arrested," Krillin chimed in, now having recovered from the head shot.
"Whatever, man! Let's just move," Yajirobe grumbled, the others turning to follow.
Even Yamcha, albeit, extremely reluctantly! He gave one last glare before stepping away.
However, Rinka couldn't just ignore the incredibly smug look the gang leader was fixing them with. You'd think he'd just won the world series with the way he was chuckling with his buddies. It was clear they thought they were tough.
"Losers," he suddenly muttered under his breath. Not loud enough for the guys to hear, of course, but Rinka was able to pick it up loud and clear.
Okay, that was it!
"No!" she suddenly snapped, getting everyone's attention. Especially the bullies.
"What did you just say?" the leader sneered, taking a menacing step closer to her.
"I said, 'no'! I'm not moving. I'm with Yamcha. I'd like to see you try and make me," she challenged, not appearing the least bit intimidated by him as she confidently crossed her arms across her chest.
"Rinka. . . what are you doing?" Krillin hissed warily at her.
"Standing my ground. Tien is right and this isn't fair. We were here first!" She turned to see him giving her a very nervous look. "Don't worry. I got this!" she assured him with a smirk.
"You should be more careful about who you call out, you little brat! Or else, someone here's liable to get hurt," he not-so-subtly threatened, bending down to get right in her face.
The guys all tensed at this, but Rinka still didn't flinch.
"Well then, I guess you'll just have to decide if that's a chance you're willing to take," she offered nonchalantly, taking a moment to glance down at her nails. They could probably use a trim.
One of the gang guys snickered at the comment, causing the leader's face to sour into a look of rage.
"You little smartass! I'll teach you what happens when you mess with grownups!" he snapped, pulling his arm back before thrusting it forward in an attempt to backhand her.
In a flash, Rinka snapped up his hand with hers, stopping him with surprisingly little effort. She shifted her gaze back and forth between him and the hand with an incredulous look.
"Really? Is that seriously all you've got?" she questioned dubiously, fixing him with a hard glare.
Meanwhile, all the rage had left the guy's face, and was now replaced by a look of complete bewilderment. That is, until his expression began to twist with pain as Rinka slowly increased her grip on this hand. Something made a crunching noise, and he yelled, dropping to one knee so he was eye level with her again.
"Maybe you should consider hitting up the gym before you go around threatening little girls on the beach," she suggested in a belittling tone. "That is, just as soon as you manage to wake up."
"What–?" he attempted to ask, but a moment later, Rinka pulled back her free arm before socking him in the jaw as hard as she could. Effectively sending him flying clear across the beach in traditional anime fashion. She then turned to cast a cool gaze at his buddies.
"What about you guys? You wanna play too?" she wondered, flashing them a sinister smirk.
They appeared to be stunned with shock for a moment, until one of them managed to find his voice.
"Wha – just what kinda freak are you?!" he demanded, backing away from her.
"You – you're gonna pay for that! You just wait! You'll be sorry, you – you freak!" the other one added, before they both scrambled away in a near panic.
"Damn, girl!" Rinka suddenly heard from behind her. She turned to see Yamcha fixing her with a grin. "Looks like you've got some of Chi Chi in you after all," he teased.
Rinka groaned and felt her eyes roll.
"Please don't tell me that," she requested, but then they heard Tien scoff and turned to see him scowling at her.
"Only you just made a big scene, and that was the kind of attention I was trying to avoid! What happens when they come back with the police in a few minutes?" he lectured.
"What are you worried about? You didn't do anything," she reminded him.
"No, but they're gonna think we did, and then we're gonna get arrested for sure!" Krillin lamented.
"Well, that's why I decided to step in. They might have been able to press charges against you, but I don't think they're going to be able to do anything to me," she assured them.
"Yeah right. No way the feds are gonna believe some little girl knocked that guy clear across the beach," Yajirobe pointed out.
"Oh, trust me. I'm counting on that," she offered cryptically, causing the guys to give each other confused looks.
. . .
Several minutes later, and the gang idiots did eventually return with a pair of police officers, their comatose boss draped across one of their backs.
"That's her, officers! That's the demon girl what assaulted our friend!" they heard him yelling at a distance.
Halting their game once again, the group turned to watch them approach. Yajirobe suddenly getting nervous and fidgety.
"Man, we should just get while the gettin's good! I can't go back to jail! The food there's even worse than at the Lookout!" he whined.
The rest of them all turned to flash him confused, incredulous looks. Until Rinka finally shook her head with a sigh.
"You can't run now. It'll just make you look guilty. Everyone just act dumb and play along. Trust me," she reassured them.
"Good afternoon, folks. Sorry for interrupting your day, but we've just received a report about some sort of demon child going around attacking people. You wouldn't happen to know anything about that, would you?" One of the officers addressed them, glancing back and forth between Rinka and Chiaotzu.
"We told you, man. It's her! That's her right there!" The other guy was shouting and aggressively thrusting a finger at Rinka. "You gotta arrest her, right now!" he demanded.
Rinka put on a terrified face and began backing away, until she bumped into Yamcha. She broke her act for the briefest of moments to give him a wink. He gave her a puzzled look.
"Sir, I am going to need you to calm down," the second officer told him while the first one was still waiting for an answer.
"Uh? A demon child?" Krillin finally answered him, trying to sound skeptical. "I'm sorry officer, but no, we haven't heard anything about that," he told him honestly.
The officer nodded, sighing, and rubbing his fingers against his forehead in exasperation.
"That's what I thought, but I am required to ask. Thank you for your time, gentlemen," he told them before turning to walk away.
"Wait a minute! That's it?!" One of the goons protested, breaking away from the pack. "Can't you see they're lying? Just look at my friend's face! You can't just let this little brat get away with this!" he yelled.
He stomped over to Rinka before grabbing onto her arm and attempting to drag her towards the cops. She responded like your standard small child would if they were suddenly grabbed by a scary stranger, digging in her heels while loudly whining and desperately grasping onto Yamcha's pant leg. Who also wasted no time reacting in turn.
"Hey, pal! What the hell do you think you're doing?!" he demanded, not even needing to act as he ripped Rinka back away from the crazy-looking guy, placing her protectively behind him. It was clear that he wanted to say more, but the officer actually beat him to it.
"Alright, I think I've seen enough," he snapped, suddenly wrenching the guy's arms behind his back, and slapping a pair of cuffs on him, while his partner did the same to the other gang member.
"Hey! What the hell?! What are you arresting us for?!" he protested angerly.
"Oh, let's see. Wasting an officer's time, false accusations, physical harassment of a child, causing a disturbance. I'm sure there's more, but this is enough to merit an arrest. As such, you have the right to remain silent. . ." he then continued listing out his rights as the cops began dragging them away, the bullies protesting at every step.
Once they were far enough away, and the officer's backs were turned, Rinka chanced peeking out from behind Yamcha. She caught the gang guy's gaze with hers before flashing him a malicious grin coupled with a taunting wave.
He lost it at that point, screaming about how she was faking and secretly a demon and how she'd eventually get hers in the end. All empty threats of course that the cops couldn't care less about as they eventually pulled them out of sight.
"Huh. Thought for sure those guys were gonna try to pin the blame on us," Krillin commented, once the metaphorical dust had settled.
"Yeah, but for some reason they just seemed to fixate on you," Yamcha added, glancing down at the girl still clinging to his pant leg with an amused smirk. She returned it with a grin.
"Why didn't they try and blame us? That would have been the logical course of action," Tien mused.
"Because they're morons?" Rinka offered with a scoff, taking a step back so she could address the whole group. "And you can always count on stupid people to be, stupid," she joked.
"Those guys were stupid," Yajirobe agreed. "But what was up with you suddenly actin' all weak and scared when they came back?" he wondered at the girl.
"It's called a hustle, sweetheart," she said slyly, clicking while making finger guns at him.
"I thought that was when bad people play tricks to steal money?" Chiaotzu wondered aloud.
"It is when people play tricks, but it doesn't necessarily have to be for money. Either way, it's not very noble," Tien stressed, fixing Rinka with a dubious look.
"Can't argue with the results though," she reasoned, albeit a little less passionately than before.
"Well, look at you, being all sneaky and devious. Maybe you're a little more like a normal girl than you thought?" Yamcha suggested.
"Oh yeah, but what were you gonna do if that didn't work?" Krillin had to wonder at her.
"Uh, use the 'forget me stick'?" she offered, plucking up a large piece of driftwood.
Yamcha laughed out loud at the absurd suggestion, while the others responded with eye rolls and head shakes.
"Maybe we should go, before you get us all into real trouble, you little felon!" Krillin teased.
"Ah, a kid after my own heart!" Yamcha also jokingly added.
Rinka was confused by this at first, until she remembered. . .
"Oh yeah, didn't you used to be like – a bandit or something?" she inquired.
"Yeah, once upon a time, I was known as the notorious Desert Bandit. Didn't your dad tell you about that?" he wondered.
"He told me that you ran away as soon as you saw Bulma," she pointed out instead.
Yamcha blushed as the rest of the guys in the group snickered behind him.
"That was a long time ago, and I obviously don't have that problem anymore. So, can we just move on?" he requested testily.
"Alright, but, can we have just one more game before we go?" Rinka requested, picking up the discarded ball with hopeful eyes.
Yamcha glanced around at the others. When no one objected, he strolled over and plucked the ball up from her.
"Alright, one more game, but no more wily antics, got it?" he ordered.
"Got it," Rinka agreed.
As the game progressed, Krillin began to study the girl next to him with a slightly new appreciation. It seemed she could be rather crafty when she wanted to be. He could only hope that she wasn't planning on using it against them. Not that he thought she would, but you could never really tell for sure with these female types.
