Chapter 8: Dormitory

"Alright, this is the Ravenclaw common room," their perfect/tour guide informs them. "The boy's dormitory is on the left, and girls on the right. Your things have already been brought up for you."

The first-year students nod and make their way up to their dormitories.

Meredith subconsciously keeps looking around the common room for Addison, but she must still be in a meeting with Ellis Grey, because neither she, nor Callie, are anywhere to be found.

By some stroke of luck though, Meredith and Cristina are in the same dorm room, and they even have their four-poster beds right next to each other.

"It's like it was meant to be," Meredith grins.

"I did all the work," says Cristina. "You hardly wanted to be friends in the first place," Cristina giggles.

Meredith and Cristina proceed to sort through their things and find their pajamas, which are admittedly much cozier than their robes (which are still very comfortable!).

They put them on, and get ready for bed, and even though Cristina opens a thick-looking book, she doesn't spend much time reading it, instead, she and Meredith spend the time lying awake, and talking with each other about their day, and how wonderful it all is.

"Alright, I want to be well-rested for the first day of lessons," says Cristina, as she yawns, and tucks herself under the covers.

"Alright," says Meredith. "Goodnight."

She's tired, but still wired and energized from the day, so she finds herself sitting by the window, and staring out of it, just to see the night sky from this new angle.

There's not much to see really, just the clouds on the horizon until she sees a flash go by, and then another, and she realizes that it must be the Quidditch team practicing, and flying on their broomsticks outside.

When they whiz by the Ravenclaw dormitory window, Meredith gets a glimpse of Addison's red hair flying by, followed by Callie's raven-colored hair, and she smiles to herself as she watches them passing a quaffle back and forth, and practicing all of their flying maneuvers.

Addison looks so beautiful when she's flying. Majestic even, and Meredith grins as she watches her.

Before long, their practice is over, and they are congratulating each other before heading inside.

One thing that Meredith notices as the team leaves the field is that Addison is holding hands with Callie.

Both of them are laughing and talking, and the rest of the team is just hanging out together and being supportive. And no other team members are holding hands with each other, just these two. They're just… Holding hands...

Meredith freezes as the realization dawns on her.

Does that mean that Addison and Callie are… Together…?

The thought sends Meredith into a jealous fit of rage, even though she's hardly ever spoken with the redhead, and she would logically have no sort of claim on her.

It's not as though Addison could read her mind, either, and now that she has this infatuation with her. Or at least, even if she could, Meredith is not so sure that she'd want her to.

It's a lot to take in after a long day, starting off with the train station, the train ride, the sorting ceremony, and now sitting awake in the dormitory.

And she still has some fond memories already about when Addison had been talking to her.

About the hand-holding though, Meredith tries to forget that part as she crawls into her bed, and pulls the covers up over her head, and dreams vividly of tall redheads, of magic, and of flying.
