Chapter 22: McSteamy?

The lobby filled with hushed whispers from nurses, techs, clerks, and other doctors. Every eye fixed upon the unfolding scene. The people who knew about the affair could understand why Addison had lost herself with the newcomer. He was hot, very hot, even with blood slowly oozing from the cut on his cheek. Cristina and Meredith still held onto Derek as Aelwyne stood next to Addison.

"What the hell are you doing here, Mark?" Addison spoke next.

"Hi there Red. Looking as hot as ever." Mark said with a smug smile as he stood.

Addison felt the anger rolling off of Aelwyne as he finished the sentence and quickly grabbed onto her hand. Aelwyne looked at her, seemingly lost in her eyes as she often did, the anger beginning to boil down. That is until Mark opened his mouth again.

"What are you doing here?" Addison asked again emphasizing every word.

"You know me Red. Wherever there are hot beautiful women is where I'm supposed to be." Mark responded winking at Aelwyne and Meredith.

"Do you need a matching one on the other side of your face?" Derek seethed. "Look at them like that again and I swear to god Mark." Meredith and Cristina surprisingly were able to hold him back.

"Protective of the both of them? Derek… and here I thought I was the adventurous one." Mark chuckled. Derek made to step towards him. "Relax there cowboy I'm not here for either of them. No offense ladies. You are all beautiful. Especially those eyes." He said as he eyed Aelwyne. "But I'm here for her." He said pointing at her.

"You can't be serious." Addison huffed.

"Dead serious Red. I mean I am here, am I not." He winked at her moving towards her.

"I swear to god Mark. Back off!" Derek untangled himself from Meredith and Cristina.

"Jesus! Derek, not all of them can be for you." Mark laughed.

"You son of a-" Derek started but was interrupted quickly by Richard.

"Dr. Shepherd, I suggest you cool off and conduct yourself accordingly." Richard sternly reprimanded the attending. "As for you…" he directed toward Mark. "If you cause any more problems in my hospital I'll have you escorted out immediately."

"Of course my good sir." Mark nodded with an amused smile. Richard grunted in response.

"The rest of you, get to work!" He commanded and in an instant the bustling in the floor began anew.

"Excuse me, good doctors, but I'll need to suture this." Mark said to no one in particular.

Bailey, who had witnessed the whole thing along with Karev and O'Malley had the boys take him to get checked out. Alex beamed and escorted Mark to an exam room.

"Derek. Addison. Conference room. Now." Richard said to the attending's.

Addison was still standing there until she felt a reassuring hand lightly squeezing her own. She looked at Aelwyne who stood there with a small smile. She mirrored the smile and sighing followed after Richard and Derek.

Meredith, Cristina, and Aelwyne looked on as Alex and George dealt with Mark. Before George was going to start suturing he stopped him and gave him a mirror.

"Why is he suturing his own face?" Izzie said as she approached them.

"To turn me on." Cristina said causing Aelwyne to chuckle and shake her head.

"That's Mark Sloan. Pretty much the god of plastics out on the east coast." Aelwyne said, turning her attention back to the exam room, where Alex was practically gushing as George held the mirror annoyed.

"He needs a McName." Izzie said.

"No he doesn't." Aelwyne responded.

"Ah c'mon Ael. You can't deny he is a work of art. I mean Addison can only have the best." Cristina said as Aelwyne glared at her. "Too soon?"

"I'd say so." Meredith said, shaking her head.

"Ael c'mon." Cristina whined.

"Fine… McSexy?" Aelwyne suggested after giving it some thought.

"Ummm." Cristina did not quite like it.

"McYummy?" Izzie said.

"No." Cristina replied and Aelwyne shook her head as well.

"McSteamy." Meredith suggested.

"There it is." Cristina agreed.

"Yep." Aelwyne agreed as well.

Back in the conference room Derek explained to Richard who Mark was as Addison tried to sink deeper in her seat. She had given an ice pack to Derek and surprisingly he took it without complaints.

"You put your weight behind it?" Richard asked Derek.

"Yes sir." Derek said with a small smile.

"Well, alright then." Richard said and walked out.

Derek and Addison sat in silence for a while. Addison was not sure what to say to make this better. It was an impossible situation. Mark was here. Out of all the things that could have happened why did this have to happen?

Derek sighed heavily, dragging Addison out of her thoughts.

"I swear I didn't know he was coming. I-I didn't know he would try to… I'm so sorry. I wish I… I'm sorry Derek. After I decided to stay… I never thought I'd see him…" Addison rambled with tears forming in her eyes.

"Addie." Derek lifted his hand to stop her. She quieted and dropped her gaze. "I know. It still hurts but I know. You are ok. I promise. We-we really are ok." He said searching for her eyes. "Really." He finished as she finally looked back at him.

"I am sooooo tired." Cristina said as all six interns sat in the cafeteria. "At least looking at McSteamy gave me some energy. But now I'm wiped out."

"Cristina, he's not that amazing." George chipped in.

"Oh dude. He is that amazing. Wonder if we could convince him to stay and teach." Alex said.

"I think Alex has a crush." Aelwyne finally spoke.

"I'll say." Meredith added with a chuckle.

"If saying I have a crush gets him to teach me I'll say it." Alex challenged.

"How far would you take that charade?" Izzie smiled.

"As far as I would with you Barbie." Alex retorted.

"Ewww." The rest said collectively and then busted out laughing.

"I'll warn him. Wouldn't want him to get syphilis." George mused.

"I know what you want moron." Alex said shifting to get up. Izzie placed her hand on his shoulder to keep him sitting.

"George." Aelwyne shook her head.

"Always to the extreme." Cristina said.

"Can't you idiots ever behave?" Bailey said from behind them.

"So umm how much did you hear of that Dr. Bailey?" Meredith asked as everyone stifled a chuckle. Bailey gave them all 'the look' and they quieted quickly. Then she walked away.

"How much trouble do you think I'm in?" Meredith said once Bailey was out of earshot.

"Well hopefully there aren't any patients with abscesses." Cristina laughed.

"Oh god." Meredith facepalmed and everyone joined Cristina.

"Wasn't that the day I met you?" Aelwyne asked as she recovered.

"Yeah." Meredith replied softly.

"Eeek. I remember that." Izzie's face retorted in disgust.

"Hey, at least she'll let you shower it off." Alex added.

"Shut up, about it, already." Meredith begged.

"Meredith, that was the first time you stood up for McDreamy. He must see the commitment." Cristina continued, everyone laughed once more.

"Sorry to interrupt." Addison said as she got there.

"Please interrupt. I need an interruption." Meredith said as she spied Derek walking into the cafeteria as well.

"There's your interruption." Cristina said as she followed her gaze. "And here is Aelwyne's." She whispered to Aelwyne.

"Can I… could we…" Addison tried asking but could not finish. Sensing that Aelwyne got up.

"Dr. Montgomery I actually had a question about a patient we saw the other day." Aelwyne said, trying to cover for Addison.

"Yeah? Well let's go get the chart." Addison picked up on the banter.

Once they were gone Alex started laughing.

"So how long are we going to pretend there isn't anything between them?" He said.

"As long as they need Evil Spawn." Cristina replied with a grin.

"Between who?" George said, confused.

"As oblivious as ever Bambi." Alex said smacking him on the back of the head.

"Hey!" George said and tried to hit Alex back.

"Children!" Bailey bellowed.

"She has such good timing." Cristina said under her breath.

Addison walked in silence guiding Aelwyne to a supply closet. She walked in and waited for the door to close behind them before turning to face the intern.

"I understand if you are mad. If you have questions go ahead." Addison said, her gaze, not quite meeting Aelwyne's.

"Are you ok, Addie?" Was the first thing Aelwyne asked. Addison let out a chuckle.

"Mark is here and all you're asking is if I'm ok?" Addison chuckled incredulously.

"It's the only thing I care about." Aelwyne said with a shrug. Addison laughed once more and wrapped her arms around the intern drawing her close so that their foreheads were touching each other.

"Tell me what I did to deserve you and I'll keep doing it." Addison said with a smile leaning in.

"You're already too perfect. Nothing you do or don't do will make you less worthy. I'm the ones that doesn't deserve you." Aelwyne said onto her lips before diving in.

As always the sweet kisses grew deeper and more passionate and as always there was a page to draw them apart.

"It's a follow-up I got with Derek." Addison explained with a pout as she pulled back from the whimpering intern. "I promise I'll come find you later so we can take a nap together."

"A nap?" Aelwyne echoed with a hint of mischief.

"Yes, a nap." Addison replied with a smirk. She turned to leave but stopped. "Aelwyne." Her tone more serious. "There's something you need to know about Mark and I. I'll explain when I see you again, ok?"

"Ok." Aelwyne echoed a bit concerned.

After Addison left Aelwyne decided to go round on her patients. As she walked to the elevators she bumped into Callie who looked slightly dazed and flushed.

"Oops sorry Ael." Callie said quickly.

"It's ok. Are you ok?" Aelwyne asked.

"Have you seen him?" Callie said with a huge smile.

"Please say you're not talking about Sloan." Aelwyne said, raising a brow.

"Sloan?" Callie questioned.

"Mark Sloan. He has a cut on his left cheek." Aelwyne explained.

"He is a work of art." Callie said dreamily.

"Not you too. I have enough with Cristina admiring McSteamy." Aelwyne rolled her eyes.

"McSteamy? I like it. He's so well put together." Callie sighed happily while Aelwyne let out an exasperated sigh. "Ael, have you seen the man without a shirt?"

"There's something wrong with you Callie." Aelwyne said chuckling. "And how exactly did you see him without a shirt?"

"He's so damn fine. So McSteamy-like." Callie laughed not really answering the question.

"Well, I gotta go. You keep fantasizing." Aelwyne pressed the elevator button chuckling and shaking her head.

"Oh I so will." Callie said with a wink and left.

The elevator doors opened quickly after and she stepped in. As the doors were closing she heard a familiar voice calling for her to stop the elevator. Though the voice was familiar she did not place it and held the elevator. She smiled up as the person walked in and once she saw who it was the smile faded.

"If it isn't Miss Pretty Eyes." Mark said as he stepped in fully. Aelwyne just nodded and stood as far away as possible. "Tell me something beautiful. Do you know where I can find my beautiful Red?"

"I don't know who you're talking about." Aelwyne said without looking at him.

"Of course you do. Addison, where is she?" Mark said, stepping closer to her. "C'mon golden eyes, tell me. Where's my Red?"

"My name is Aelwyne and Addison is not yours." Aelwyne said, finally meeting his eyes.

"Oh? Who claims her now? 'Cause it's not Derek. He claims that cute little blonde." He asked, amused.

"That is none of your concern." Aelwyne replied tight-lipped.

"So feisty and defensive. Who are you to her? Friend? Best Friend? Girlfriend?" He laughed as he said the last one but stopped as he noticed her shift. "No way… you like her."

"You didn't press your floor." Aelwyne pointed out looking straight ahead.

"Aww kiddo. I'm so sorry she won't ever like you back. Red is straighter than a straight line. She likes pickles." He said tapping her on the shoulder.

"You are a very funny guy, you know." Aelwyne chuckled a bit as the doors slid open.

"What do you know that I don't? I've been her friend for years, kid." Mark walked out with her.

"Not what, who. Looks like I know Dr. Montgomery more than you do." Aelwyne said with a smirk and walked away.

Addison and Derek walked out of the patient's room. The patient had come in a few days ago complaining of persistent headaches and dizziness. Derek had admitted her because he had found an aneurysm when they did the scans. He had called Addison because the patient was pregnant and the fetus showed signs of distress.

"Well, it looks like the fetus is stable now. I'd say you are good to go with the surgery." Addison informed him.

"Great. I'll schedule the procedure right away." Derek responded. There was still some tension in the air thanks to their encounter with Mark.

"I can monitor the baby while you operate. Or I can have an OB resident sit in if you'd like that better." Addison suggested.

"It's be great if you did." Derek said with a smile. "We can have our interns scrub in." He winked at her and she giggled.

"Sounds good. Just let me know." Addison said with a smile.

Addison made it to her office and plopped herself down on the couch. She leaned back and covered her eyes with the crook of her elbow. She stayed there a while until she decided to go and search for her beautiful intern. But when she sat back up she found Mark leaning against her office door frame with his usual amused smile.

"Always looking beautiful. Even when you're tired." He said walking in.

"Mark, I really have no time for this. Like you said I'm tired so I'm going to sleep a bit." She said motioning with her hands for him to leave.

"Is that an invitation? You know I'm up for anything. Ha! Get it." Mark said chuckling.

"You never change, do you?" Addison said as she got up and walked towards him. "Just go."

"C'mon Red I just want to talk." Mark begged a bit.

"Not now. I can't do this right now, Mark. Just go." She said as she tried shoving him out the door.

As she tried and failed to get him out she noticed Aelwyne coming around the corner, her eyes on her phone as she walked towards the office. Addison was about to call her when Mark grabbed her and kissed her. She had no time to react as he tried to deepen the kiss. Addison pushed against him and heard the clatter as something dropped on the floor. As soon as Mark let go of her she faced Aelwyne.

The intern's gaze fixated on them, she was as white as a sheet of paper. Addison could see the anger swirling in her eyes but the intern said nothing.

"Aelwyne." She called but was interrupted.

"Told you kid." Mark said wrapping his arm around Addison's shoulders.

"Let go!" Addison shook off his hand and walked towards her. "Let me explain."

"No." Aelwyne said as she picked up her phone. She turned to walk away but Addison stopped her grabbing her arm.

"No. Please Ael." She began, Aelwyne did not turn to her. "It's not what it looks like. I swear. And I know people say that when they're caught red handed but I promise." Addison begged but Aelwyne pulled her arm away from her grasp.

"Leave me alone." Aelwyne bit back.

"Ael, please." Addison tried to grab her again but the intern moved quickly.

"I don't want to see you or listen to you." Aelwyne turned her eyes red and filled with unshed tears. "I can't do this right now."

"Ael." Addison's voice sounded broken but Aelwyne did not budge.

"Don't." Aelwyne said and walked away leaving her behind.

'No, no, no I can't. I can't let her go.' Addison thought as she watched her intern walk away.

"Addison?" Mark eyed her as she turned to face him. "No way." He whispered as realization hit once he saw the tears running down her cheeks, the turmoil in her eyes.

'I can't let her go. I can't do that.' Addison thought to herself and without a word bolted after the intern.

She saw her jogging down the stairs and ran for her. As before she found herself in the full lobby but instead of everyone looking at Mark they looked at her as her heels clattered with her every step.

"Aelwyne!" She shouted but the intern made no attempt to face her. "Ael!" Her voice came out broken much like before. Aelwyne stopped walking away and turned to face her then.

Then Addison did what no one expected. Aside from Cristina and Meredith who were watching the whole scene oblivious as to what had brought it up. Addison crashed her lips against Aelwyne's in the middle of the lobby. She kissed her without a care in the world because the only thing she cared about was the beautiful golden eyed intern that was trying to slip away.

Mark stood at the top of the stairs holding onto the railings. "What do you know…" He said with a smile.

And then there were 22. Ta dah hehe well now everyone knows. So Cristina won't have to keep on "keeping" the secret, that's not so much a secret really. This chapter contained little snippets from the dialing about McSteamy on season 2 episode 19. Also the pickle thing he says is in reference to a clip I watched recently from season 3 episode 8 when Mark offers Addie a pickle when she's yelling at him for not teaching his interns. Anyway, I hope you liked it. Let me know your thoughts. Until next

week! ;)
