Chapter 11: Bully
"Get down from there!" The professor commands Meredith, but Meredith can't seem to find the brakes on her broomstick.
"Not quite like a muggle car, is it-" The dark-haired boy continues to taunt Meredith.
"Ahhhh-" Meredith begins screaming, now becoming very afraid for her life as she continues to thrash in the air.
"Do something!" Izzie Stevens, Meredith and Cristina's classmate, says to Cristina.
"I don't know how to fly, either-" says Cristina.
"Oh no, I hope she doesn't hit anything-" says George O'Malley.
"She looks like she's toast-" says Alex Karev.
"Not helpful-" Cristina glares at him.
"Get down here immediately!" The professor says to Meredith.
"I- I can't-" says Meredith, as she wraps both of her arms around the broomstick, hoping it'll help her stay attached to it, at the very least.
Meredith squeals, as the broomstick starts guiding her higher, and higher, until it starts whirring around, and soon enough, she's got her robe caught on the tower spike, and Meredith lets out a sigh of relief because at least, she isn't flying out of control anymore.
Her relief is short-lived though because then, her robe rips, and she starts falling, falling into the air.
Meredith is certain that she's going to hit the ground with a 'splat,' and that that will be the end of her, but before she feels the impact that she's bracing herself for, she feels two strong arms holding onto her, and she feels herself being lowered very gently towards the ground.
"Wha-" Meredith fumbles, as she opens her eyes again, after having squeezed them tightly shut.
"Are you okay?" asks the voice of the person who's holding Meredith, and Meredith takes a sharp breath in, before she whimpers, and clings to the other person.
"Meredith…" The voice says softly, and Meredith opens her eyes.
It's her.
It's Addison.
It's Addison Montgomery!
"Addison-" Meredith whispers. "Thank you-" Meredith says in a heartfelt way. "You really saved me there."
"No problem," says Addison. "Derek was being a bully, I'll talk to him later."
"Derek?" says Meredith. "He's an old friend of mine from before we went to Hogwarts, so is Mark." Explains Addison. "I'll make sure he doesn't pick on you anymore."
"Thanks," says Meredith. "You know, you didn't have to do all that, you're so great, and I'm-" Meredith babbles.
"You're just learning, it happens," Addison smiles. "Shall we get you back to your class?"
"Do I have to?" Meredith protests lightly.
"Here, I'll help," says Addison, as she offers her hand out to Meredith.
Meredith grins up at the redhead.
"How old are you-" Meredith blurts out all of a sudden.
Addison chuckles.
"I'm twelve, I'm a second-year, and so are Derek, Mark, and Callie," says Addison.
"Whoa, but you seem so… Wise…" Meredith says, and then she groans at herself. Why did she just call Addison old!?
"Thanks," Addison merely laughs. "You get used to the school pretty quickly, you'll be 'wise,' in no time," says Addison.
"Can't wait," Meredith smiles, after loosening up a little bit more.
"Alright, I've got to get back to class, but you take care, Meredith," says Addison.
"You too, and thanks for being my knight in shining… whatever..." says Meredith wistfully, as Addison gives her one last smile before she takes off on her broomstick.
"Yo, Mer, are you coming to the next class, or what!?" says Cristina.
"On my way!" says Meredith, as she follows her friend after Addison has disappeared out of her sightline.
Now she has yet another reason to admire Addison as her new hero.
