Chapter 32: No Funny Business
The time for the intern's exam was approaching rapidly and it was apparent with how they all now acted. Every time they had a break or after work they would meet up and go over cases and diagnoses and symptoms, quizzing each other constantly. The attending were also happy to help with their studies as they continued to teach them and grill them with questions. Also the more set schedule with the same attending for a week was helpful. Studying had become a very important part of their lives now. After work they would either go to Meredith's or Aelwyne's place so it was not a surprise when Addison made it back home to find them all huddled up on the couch.
"What's tonight's subject?" She asked after closing the door behind her. "And who's winning?" She chuckled.
They had come up with a game and a sort of point system. Whoever had the most points on their last study section would get a weekend getaway paid for by everyone else. So far the lead had been switched on and off between Meredith, Cristina, and Aelwyne.
"Subject is neonatal and fetal." Cristina grumbled. "Which sucks 'cause I was whooping ass until now. I want cardio again." She sat back in a huff and the rest of the interns started laughing.
"I'm winning." Alex beamed.
"Only 'cause your sweetness is letting you." George remarked. That sent a slight tinge of jealousy through her and apparently her ever perceptive girlfriend caught it.
"Baby girl." Aelwyne blurted out before she could stop herself, sending a blush through her face. Addison smirked at her with an amused look on her face.
"Yes, Bug?" The redhead called and Aelwyne's cheeks now shone a beautiful and much deeper scarlet shade.
"Eww." Cristina joked.
"Aww they're cute." Izzie said next to Aelwyne. Meredith only giggled from where she sat next to George.
The doorbell rang before Addison could start to tease her golden eyed girl and she went to get it. She opened the door to Derek and Mark who had been laughing at who knew what. Smiling brightly she moved aside and motioned them in.
"Dr. Sloan! It's good you're here." Izzie called and Mark smirked, making both Addison and Derek shake their heads. "I think I'm on your service tomorrow. I wanted to ask you about the surgery for Mr…" her voice died out as she tried to recall the name.
"Mr. Thomas, babe." Alex added.
"Babe?" George looked confused.
"Bambi, always being oblivious." Cristina snickered.
"Oh, George." Meredith shook her head.
"I think you make a nice couple." Addison smiled at them and then sent a wink at Aelwyne who was still recovering.
"Who's winning tonight?" Derek asked next to her.
"Alex, because his sweetness is helping him." Addison replied and then saw Aelwyne's head snap to her.
"I was only helping." Aelwyne said quickly.
"Go kiss your jealous girlfriend, Ael." Cristina smirked.
"Shhh." Aelwyne glared at her playfully.
"Well, I'm hungry." George said and there was a collective of nods and hums in agreement.
"How does pizza sound?" Derek asked. "I'll be nice. It'll be my treat."
"Yes, please!" Meredith and Cristina shouted in unison.
"I like pizza." Izzie said with a smile.
"Yeah. I want some." Mark added.
"It's not for you. It's for the children. Though you're a child too. Addison and I are the only grown ups here." Derek smirked as a flying pillow hit him square in the face. Addison watched it fly in in slow motion and doubled over laughing.
"That's what you get." Mark laughed next to him. Derek grabbed the pillow and looked in the direction of the interns who had all turned back to look at their notes.
"You're all proving my point." Derek shook his head.
"Just get the pizza, McDreamy." Cristina looked at him with a blank face.
"Yeah. Yeah. Aelwyne do you have a menu or something?" Derek asked, looking away from Cristina. Addison had a nagging feeling that the cardio enthusiast had been the one to throw the pillow.
"Yep." Aelwyne said standing up.
"I'm gonna change into something more comfortable. I'll be back." Addison said as she walked down the hallway, hoping that Ael would follow her. The golden eye woman threw her a look that said she would and she smiled.
"Want assistance?" Mark smirked.
"Only if you want to be our patient for the next few weeks." Aelwyne responded for her, making Addison chuckle as she left them.
"There's my feisty kid." Mark's smirk grew wider.
"Do be careful dad." Aelwyne smiled sweetly at him and he chuckled. "Anyway, here Derek." She said, handing him the menu from the kitchen drawers. "They're close by so we'll get the pizza quickly. Please order a side of garlic knots. They're amazing. A pizza with Italian sausage would be great too and whatever else they want. But I'll leave that up to you. I'll be right back."
"Where are you going sweetness?" Alex smirked and winked at her and the rest of her friends started making oo's and aw's.
"Be quiet." Aelwyne hissed as the deep scarlet shade invaded her cheeks yet again.
Before they could say more she left and went to her and Addison's room. She never got tired of saying that it was their room. This was their space and it made her overly happy, sharing it with the one woman who made her whole.
Aelwyne opened the door to a dark room. The blinds had been tightly shut and not even the bathroom light shone underneath the door. She took a step in waiting for her eyes to adjust when she heard movement on her right.
"Addie?" She called as she could make the dark silhouette in the corner.
"Something you need sweetness?" Addison's voice was low, almost a growl.
"Oh c'mon. It's just the nickname he gave me." Aelwyne pouted, though Addison could not see it.
She could hear the muffled conversations and laughter down the hall so she stepped fully into the room and closed the door. Addison still did not move towards her.
"Addie." Aelwyne whined. "I want a kiss."
"We're in the room. You can call me what you want to call me in here." Addison husked, right next to her now.
"There you are, baby girl." Aelwyne turned and quickly found the redhead's waist, pulling her towards her. Addison giggled at the action, warming up her heart. "Are you still mad?" She asked.
"Not mad. Just deprived." Addison whined this time.
"Deprived of what?" Aelwyne chuckled.
"Of your kisses. You said you wa-" Whatever else the redhead was going to say got lost as Aelwyne pressed her lips against hers with precision.
"Good?" Aelwyne asked as they pulled away.
"Not yet." Addison groaned.
"Hmm." Aelwyne smirked and went back in.
This time the kiss was even deeper than the one before. Addison's hands began to roam her back and kept pulling her closer and closer. Aelwyne went farther now and slipped her tongue inside the redhead's mouth earning herself a deep moan, which made her smile into Addison's lips. As they pulled back the brunette giggled as Addison panted a bit.
"How was that?" Aelwyne teased.
"I think there's still much more you could've done." Addison challenged and started walking her back until her back hit the door.
"Yeah?" Aelwyne asked and then let out a moan as Addison started kissing her neck slowly.
Aelwyne felt Addison push up her shirt just enough so that she was touching her bare skin. She sucked lightly on Aelwyne's pulse point sending shivers down her spine. Then Addison moved her hand away from her hips to tug the shirt to the side and latched her lips on her shoulder, sucking and biting hard and then soothing the spot with her tongue. Aelwyne moaned loudly and Addison's hand shot up to her mouth.
"Shhhh. We have company." Addison whispered in her ear, her breath making her shiver.
"Not fair." Aelwyne whined softly when Addison removed her arm.
Addison continued to kiss and nipped along her collarbone making sure not to leave any marks. Aelwyne kept on squirming as she went panting and stifling her moans as Addison made her way up to nibble on her ear.
"Addison." The brunette husked.
"Hmm." Addison kept on nibbling, her hands traveling up to Aelwyne's breaths squeezing slightly over the fabric of her shirt.
"I-if you keep go-going I won't want to stop." Aelwyne warned.
"No one said we had to." Addison's voice dropped an octave as it dripped with lust and then she started kissing her.
They were starting to get lost in their kisses and roaming hands when they heard Mark's booming voice echoing in the hallway.
"Come one love birds. Food is here!" He said and they could practically hear the smirk on his face.
"I guess this is it. We have to go back." Addison said as she fully detached herself from Aelwyne and turned on the light.
"Do we have to?" Aelwyne whined with a pout.
"It's our place so yeah." Addison chuckled, pecking her lips and quickly backing away as Aelwyne began to wrap her arms around her. "C'mon bug. We gotta go."
"You gotta change first." Aelwyne smirked.
"Wipe that off your face and fix your shirt." Addison said her eyes falling on her neck and then going wide. "Oh god."
"What?" Aelwyne looked at her.
"I'm sorry. I thought I was being gentle." Addison said and Aelwyne made her way to the mirror.
"Well, guess I'll wear a hoodie." Aelwyne said as she admired the mark on her collarbone bone.
"I'm sorry." Addison apologized as Aelwyne sauntered over.
"It's ok." The brunette said before leaning in and giving her her own mark.
"Aelwyne." Addison pushed against her and rushed to the mirror.
"We match." Aelwyne snickered.
"You." Addison tried to feign annoyance but started chuckling. "Hurry and get us a hoodie."
"Yes, baby girl." Aelwyne beamed and went rummaging in search of said hoodies.
"Oh and do try to win now." Addison winked.
When they got back to the kitchen everyone was already sitting with their pizza and drinks. Cristina and Meredith threw Aelwyne an amused look, which she thoroughly ignored walking over to the pizza boxes.
"What took you guys so long?" Mark asked innocently.
"I…" Aelwyne started but blushed and stopped.
"She was helping me. I couldn't find my… hoodie." Addison said quickly but the excuse was not believable at all.
"We know you were making out." Cristina teased.
"We… uh…" Aelwyne got flustered again and took a deep breath then looked at Addison. One glance and Addison knew what was coming. "Yes we were making out and now I got this," Aelwyne said, pulling the hoodie to show them the mark, "but I was being nice to you Cristina since all of this mushiness is so nasty." She mocked and wrapped her arms around Addison giving her a kiss. They heard Cristina groan behind them and chuckled along with everyone else.
The rest of the night was spent with more studying and at least for Aelwyne, more snuggling. Mark passed out on the couch next to George as they all laughed and shouted answers to the questions Derek and Addison gave them. As Addison had requested, Aelwyne won the round.
The next morning found Mark still on their couch. Addison had started making the coffee, which left her to wake the sleeping attending. Aelwyne grabbed a pillow and slowly made her way to him and hit him with it.
"What the hell?" He grumbled.
"Morning dad. Get up, we have to go." Aelwyne smiled and chucked the pillow back at his face. "Those are for you." She pointed at a new toothbrush and towel she had just placed at the coffee table.
"Fine. Is that how you wake up Addison? My condolences Red." He said as he sat up, grabbing the things she had laid out for him and looked over to the kitchen.
"She wakes me up with a kiss." Addison grinned happily as Aelwyne wrapped her arms around the redhead's middle and rested her head on her shoulder.
"Like this." Aelwyne added as she kissed Addison's cheek.
"You two really are way too mushy in the morning, aren't you?" Mark walked over and drank the coffee Addison had poured for him. "I'm happy for you two, really." He smiled at them and they smiled right back.
"I should go before Bailey chews me out." Aelwyne said, planting another kiss on Addison's cheek and grabbing her things. "See you at the hospital."
"Drive safe, bug. We'll see you there." Addison called.
"Dad. No funny business. I'm watching you." Aelwyne called from the door, narrowing her eyes as she looked at him and then turned to Addison. "Love you." She said with a smile.
"Love you, too." Addison beamed and waved as Aelwyne walked out.
"You are really happy. Aren't you?" Mark said as he watched her for a while.
"Yes. I keep pinching myself to make sure I'm awake." Addison admitted pressing her lips together in slight embarrassment.
"I can tell you it's very real and you are very awake, Red." Mark smiled genuinely. "I'm hungry. Can you make me eggs?"
"Fine but go pick up the living room. Go put the blankets in the laundry. Oh and bring the trash out. I don't want to do it." Addison commanded.
"Hey, it's just eggs." Mark protested as he started to do what she asked him to.
"Off you go. Laundry is through that door." She waved him off and chuckled at his frown.
Addison and Mark walked into the hospital and went to get their interns for the week. Addison spotted the group with Bailey as she went on through the assignments. She caught Aelwyne's eyes and winked, earning herself one of those beautiful smiles.
"Stevens with Sloan." Bailey said.
"Come on blondie. It's my turn to teach you the ways." Mark called. "See you later, Red." He winked at her and then left with Izzie.
"Neirhem, don't make me regret this. You're with Dr. Montgomery." Bailey said and saw both women smile at each other. "No funny business you two. This is a place of work."
"We won't do an-" Aelwyne began to protest.
"No funny business. That's all, go on." Bailey waved her off and after a pointed stare in Addison's direction left with Alex following behind.
"Looks like you got Satan this week, Dr. Neirhem. I hope you're ready." Addison smirked.
"It's ok." Aelwyne shrugged.
"Is it?" Addison asked.
"I can handle Satan very well. I can definitely tame Satan." Aelwyne bragged.
"I highly doubt that. I've heard Satan owns you." Addison quipped.
"I guess that's true. I gave my heart to The Ruler of All that is Evil." Aelwyne leaned in quickly and pecked her lips.
"No funny business, Dr. Neirhem." Addison backed away from her and started walking away swinging her hips at her.
"Addie, wait." Aelwyne called after her.
"You coming?" Addison stopped and looked back at her. "Or is the view too mesmerizing?" She smirked.
"You're evil." Aelwyne said as she stepped next to her. Addison chuckled, lightly nudging her and walking once more.
"Are you ready to do some life saving?" Addison quirked her brow.
"Yep. No funny business for now. Saving lives takes a bit more priority." Aelwyne chuckled along with her and off they went. Off to work and to save lives and to learn.
