Chapter 34: Perfectly Magical

'People plan and God laughs.' That was the phrase bouncing around her head now. She had planned and she thought everything was set but apparently things were not about to go her way. So now here she was, a bit of a mess.

Addison paced anxiously muttering to herself as Arizona and Callie watched helplessly.

"Addison, it's ok. You guys don't have to go out today. In two weeks the interns get their vacation and you can take her somewhere espectacular then." Callie said to the pacing redhead.

"Yeah. Addison, it's fine." Arizona agreed.

"She wants to celebrate. And I want to take her to celebrate." Addison whined. "And why did they cancel my reservation. I'm going to leave a very nice and informative review." She huffed.

She had wanted everything to be perfect. It was a five star restaurant in the middle of the docks by the bay. The pictures of the place had looked outstanding and the food looked pretty amazing as well. It would have been perfect but perfect was sorta always far away.

"Adds, you sound pretty stuck up." Callie chuckled a bit but the withering glare the redhead had sent her way, had her pressing her lips together.

"I thought you'd be gone already." Bailey said as she walked over to the three.

"The restaurant I made the reservation at just canceled because they overbooked. And they did it an hour before the reservation and now I don't know what to do." Addison said quickly as Mark made his way to the group.

"It's just Neirhem." Bailey started at which Addison had wanted to protest but she continued. "You know her. You know what she likes and what she doesn't. Just think about what she'd enjoy. I can't see her being upset over going to a corner store to grab chips with you. She brightens up just by seeing you, which is stupid. As if you were the one to hold the entire world." At that the redhead blushed and the other two giggled behind her. "Anyway, just calm the hell down and pull yourself together, woman." The resident rolled her eyes as she finished and walked away.

"What if you go to a smaller restaurant." Arizona suggested.

"Something simple." Callie asked and Arizona nodded. "You can go with plan B. Besides, that plan sounded more personal and romantic." She added.

"You could go to Thea's." Mark chirped.

"What is Thea's?" Callie asked.

"It's a small bistro. It's close to the bay. They have pretty good food and it's nice for a date." He said with his smug smile. "That's what this is about right? A date?" He asked.

"Mhmm." Arizona smiled at him as Callie nodded.

"I just wanted… but Ael isn't one who needs much to be wowed." Addison mumbled as she sat next to Arizona who placed her hand on her shoulder reassuringly.

Before heading to the cafeteria to celebrate Meredith and Aelwyne had changed into their street clothes. They looked a bit out of place as they walked in with their friends but no one really cared. The interns had been at the cafeteria for a while joking and talking before Izzie, Alex, George, and Cristina got paged. Meredith and Aelwyne watched them go grumpily as they stayed at the table.

"We did it huh? I thought we'd crash and burn." Meredith smiled.

"I thought we'd drown. Might've blown up too." Aelwyne chuckled and the blonde joined her.

"Could you imagine? That'd be really awful." Meredith chuckled.

"Our lives have been pretty awful." Aelwyne shrugged.

"They have, haven't they? But now…" Meredith sighed and rolled her eyes.

"Now we're in love?" Aelwyne smirked.

"Like idiots." Meredith laughed a bit and so did Aelwyne.

"Who's an idiot?" Derek said behind them and they both jumped, spilling some soda that was left.

"Dammit, Derek!" Meredith shouted.

"You are the idiot. Idiot." Aelwyne grumbled, reaching for the napkins to clean.

"Sorry." He apologized and came around to help.

The three made quick work of the cleaning and left the table spotless. Meredith was still pouting at Derek for scaring her while Aelwyne shook her head at the both of them.

"Well umm I came to get you." Derek said once they began to walk out.

"Yeah?" Meredith mumbled.

"Yeah. We have a lobster with our name on it." He flashed his McDreamy smile.

"Do we now?" Meredith smiled.

"We have to celebrate." He said and kissed her cheek.

"Alright, well, that's enough of that for me. I'm gonna go find Addison." Aelwyne said quickly leaving as both Meredith and Derek laughed.

Aelwyne found Addison in the lobby, her back to her. She crept her way silently towards the redhead and noticed the nervous shifting. She made it to her and quickly wrapped her arms around her middle. The redhead tensed up and gasped audibly.

"Hi, baby girl." Aelwyne said softly and kissed her cheek as she leaned on her shoulder. Addison relaxed as she heard her voice, her hands landing on the intern's.

"You dummy. You scared me." She half whined and Aelwyne broke into giggles. "So how was it?" She asked.

"I answered all of the questions correctly ma'am. Or at least I'm pretty sure I did." Aelwyne grinned.

"Good." Addison said and turned quickly to face her. "There you are." She wrapped her arms around the brunette who giggled once more. "That sound is better than music."

"What sound?" Aelwyne tilted her head with a smile.

"You. Just every sound you make." Addison smiled.

"Every sound huh." Aelwyne smirked.

"I wasn't talking about those types right now." Addison chuckled. "Anyway, you're done for the day right?" She asked.

"Mhmm. My next shift is tomorrow at noon." Aelwyne informed.

"Oh, like me." Addison grinned. "Well then we can go."

"Go where?" Aelwyne rose a brow.

"Just go. Come on." Addison said, interlacing their fingers and pulling her along. "I hope you're ready to be wooed."

"You don't need to do much to woo me. I'm hopeless without you now." Aelwyne beamed at her.

"I still want to. Now come on, stop dragging your feet." Addison whined.

As they drove they sang along to the songs on the radio and talked and laughed. Addison got lost twice which had Aelwyne chuckling and poking fun at her which consequently had her pouting. They found the the quaint restaurant tucked between a sports bar and a bigger restaurant. It looked small but still charming. One glance to her right and she felt like everything would be just right as Aelwyne just beamed.

"Is this it?" Aelwyne asked eagerly.

"Yep." Addison smiled sweetly and planted a kiss on her cheek. "You hungry?" She asked as Aelwyne interlaced their fingers and nodded. "Right then, come on." She smiled heading over to the restaurant.

As they went in they were met by a familiar face.

"Titi?" Addison called.

"Dr. Montgomery. Dr. Neirhem. Welcome." Titi smiled at them both.

"Hi." Aelwyne gave her a smile.

"Welcome to my bistro." Titi motioned with her hand.

"This place is yours? It's beautiful." Addison smiled sweetly.

"Thank you." Titi replied.

"How's the granddaughter?" Aelwyne asked.

"Well after you two absolute miracle workers worked your magic she's been amazing. Thank you both so much for what you did." Titi smiled brightly. "Anyway, Dr. Montgomery everything is ready for you."

"Ready?" Addison tilted her head in confusion. Titi came closer to her and whispered.

"Dr. Sloan called ahead of you." She whispered quickly and backed away. "This way if you please." Titi said, leading them into the restaurant towards the end and then up spiral stairs.

As they made it up to the second floor a sole table stood close to a window that stretched from the dealing to the floor. They could clearly see the bay sailboats and ferries navigating about and at the edge on the docks stood the giant ferris wheel. Titi motioned for them to sit and they happily did so. A candle sat on the table with its flickering flame. Two wine glasses stood ready to be filled.

"Your waiter will be with you shortly. Enjoy." Titi smiled at them both leaving the menus and left.

"What?" Addison asked as Aelwyne just looked at her with a smile seemingly tattooed onto her face.

"You are amazing is all." Aelwyne beamed.

"You aren't so bad yourself there, Neirhem." Addison smirked as the waiter made his way to them with water and a tray of rolls.

"Good evening, ladies. My name is Felix and I'll be your waiter." He smiled and placed two cups down as well as the bread.

"Thank you." Addison said and Aelwyne smiled at him.

"You're welcome. May I interest you in some wine?" He asked.

"Which Carménère do you have?" Addison asked.

"We have the Caliterra Petreo." He replied.

"Perfect bring us that." Addison smiled and he nodded leaving them alone once again.

"That sounded hot." Aelwyne grinned.

"What did?" Addison chuckled.

"Your French." Aelwyne giggled and Addison felt a slight blush on her cheeks at the sound.

"It was just one word, Bug." She let out a laugh.

"Can you repeat it?" Aelwyne gave her her best puppy eyes.

"J'aime ton sourire et tu as de beaux yeux." Addison smiled.

"Je suis étourdi par votre beauté." Aelwyne replied and that had her blushing completely.

"You speak French?" Addison asked and smiled sweetly.

"It sounds like you do as well. Look at that. I learned something new." Aelwyne smiled back.

"You definitely sounded hotter than me." Addison smirked.

"Nuh-uh." Aelwyne shook her head.

"Yep." Addison threw Aelwyne one of her bedroom looks and it was her turn to blush, which made Addison chuckle.

"That wasn't fair." Aelwyne whined and looked out the window with a pout.

"Should I kiss that better?" Addison asked, placing her hand above Aelwyne's.

"Maybe." Aelwyne said with the pout still in place. Just about when she was going to lean over the waiter interrupted them at which the brunette let out a sigh.

"I have your wine." He looked at them nervously. "Sorry, didn't mean to interrupt." He added and Addison chuckled.

"You're ok." Aelwyne smiled as he relaxed and filled their glasses.

"Have you thought about what you'd like for dinner?" He asked.

"Haven't really looked. What would you suggest?" Addison asked as she eyed the menu.

"The ratatouille tart is pretty amazing. Also strip steak frites with bearnaise butter is a fan favorite. There's also the thyme-basted pork tenderloin with oyster mushrooms." He said and Addison chuckled as Aelwyne crinkled her nose in a bit of disgust. "Something wrong?" He asked.

"No. She just doesn't like mushrooms much. I think it's just because she hasn't had good ones." Addison chuckled.

"I've had good ones." Aelwyne protested. "I'm just not feeling oyster mushrooms." She defended.

"Right. Well, why don't we do the two other ones we can share and have them both." Addison smiled.

"Ok." Aelwyne perked up.

"Sounds like a good choice. I'll have them put it on. Would you like some soup or a salad to start?" He asked.

"Can I have the beer cheese soup?" Aelwyne said after a quick look at the menu.

"Of course. And you?" He looked at Addison.

"The same." Addison smiled and with that he was off again.

Aelwyne was still watching him go when Addison grabbed her chin and gently turned her to face her and kissed her. The brunette sighed into the kiss happily as Addison smiled. They pulled back and the dazed look on Aelwyne's face had her feeling pretty satisfied.

"Was it that good?" Addison smirked proudly.

"A little." Aelwyne teased.

"A little?" Addison tilted her head.

"I love you." Aelwyne said.

"I think you're nice." Addison shrugged.

"You said I was hot." Aelwyne countered.

"There you go. Admitting you're the hot one." Addison smirked.

"What… that's not. It's not how it works Addie." Aelwyne whined.

"I'm pretty sure it is. We make the rules. Remember?" She winked at the brunette.

"We. As in both of us. You hold 50 percent and I hold the rest." Aelwyne frowned playfully.

"You said you were hot. You admitted it and I will not argue against it so there's your 50/50." Addison said, bopping the brunette's nose and smiling sweetly.

"I… you…" Aelwyne began. "Stop smiling like that. I can't concentrate." She protested which set Addison into a fit of giggles.

"I love you too Ael." Addison smiled. "So we're doing all of this a bit backwards aren't we? First we sleep in the same bed for days, then we slept together as in, we became one. Is that cheesy?" She looked at her.

"It's not cheesy." Aelwyne chuckled.

"Ok. Then we took a few hours to ourselves courtesy of Mark Sloan, then you met my mother and now here we are on our first ever real date." Addison smiled and then sighed. "Sorry it took me so long to take you out."

"I'm happy just being near you Addison." Aelwyne smiled. "Besides as you just said we make the rules. I don't think there's a right or perfect way to do things. We can move at whatever pace we want and do whatever we want. It's up to us to decide." She reached for Addison's hand and took it.

"Sorry ladies. Your soups. Hopefully I don't stand in the way again." Felix said as he interrupted their little moment to place the bowls of soup on the table.

"It's ok. I'm hungry." Addison smiled and Aelwyne nodded.

"Yes but, Felix, if you get in the way of a kiss again I won't tip you more that 20 percent." Aelwyne shrugged and he laughed leaving them alone once more.

"Yep. I love you…" Addison said after he left as Aelwyne laughed. "Were you going to kiss me or is the moment gone?" She asked mischievously.

"Maybe…" Aelwyne smirked before leaning over and planting a sweet kiss on her lips.

"Mmm. That was nice." Addison smiled. "Ok so we know quite a bit about each other but not everything and I know we don't have to know everything about each other but… tell me something I don't know." She looked at the brunette expectantly.

"Ok. Umm…" The brunette thought for a bit. "Well, you know how I'm from Boston?" Aelwyne asked and she nodded. "Well I learned to sail at the harbor when I was very young and I used to race and compete."

"What? You can sail?" Addison asked with a gasp.

"Mhmm. See those three little sails down there?" Aelwyne pointed out the window. "It's a bit dark so they shouldn't be out but they're racing."

"Those small ones with one person on them?" Addison asked, a bit amazed.

"Yep. I used to race. Have a few medals for it. Maybe I'll show you sometime." Aelwyne smiled.

"I can't sail. Our father tried to teach us but Archer and I always got us stuck." Addison chuckled.

"I wonder how you'd do if I taught you." Aelwyne smirked.

"We'd be stuck. I can promise you that." Addison laughed.

"I'd be just fine with that." Aelwyne grinned.

"I bet you would." Addison grinned back.

"Ok your turn. Tell me something I don't know." Aelwyne propped her chin on her hands waiting for her to start.

"Well you already know I can't sail." Addison said.

"And I can fix that. Or maybe I won't so I can be your rescuer." Aelwyne mused.

"You already are my rescuer." Addison smiled. "Ok well I'm really obsessed with Star Wars. Like really really. Like I may or may not have a lightsaber back in New York." She bit her lip a little.

"Would you be mad if I said I have only watched one movie?" Aelwyne asked sheepishly.

"What? How? I need to get you up to date." Addison said quickly. "Which one?"

"I don't know. All I know is that Vader guy with the weird breathing noises…" Aelwyne began.

"Darth Vader, Bug." Addison provided.

"Yeah him. He told Luke he was his father. Though I can't remember if it was before or after he cut his hand. And maybe there was a flying moon that killed planets. It may have been from another one that I saw in passing." Aelwyne explained.

"This issue needs to be corrected." Addison seriously.

"I'm in your hands Master Addison." Aelwyne smiled and Addison smiled right back.

They went back and forth exchanging stories and talking about more things they liked. Laughing and eating. Just enjoying each other's company like nothing much mattered aside from them in that moment there. Felix came around a couple of times to check on them and refill their water glamsses and wine glasses.

Dinner turned out delicious and they each took turns feeding the other. Aelwyne giggled when she had accidentally smeared some sauce on the corner of Addison's mouth. The redhead had pouted and whined about it until the brunette cleaned it up and kissed her cheek.

Dessert time came about and Felix brought him Titi's favorite, a chocolate truffle mousse cake. It was absolutely delicious but rather than really enjoy it Addison was concerned with the time. It was already close to 7 p.m. which meant the sunset would be coming soon. The ride to the next spot she wanted to bring Aelwyne was close but they would need to leave soon. Her constant checking of the watch must've alerted Aelwyne because she grew suddenly quiet and the beginnings of a frown were beginning to form on her face.

"Do you have somewhere to be? You keep checking your watch. What's going on?" Aelwyne asked, sounding a bit hurt.

"It's just that there's this other place I want to take you to. But you're enjoying the desert and I don't want to keep you from doing that. Plus we could go another day." Addison explained quickly. "Bug, the only place I have to be at is wherever you are."

"Oh. Ok." Aelwyne's face softened into a smile. "Felix, perfect timing. Could you bring me the check?" She asked as she spotted the waiter at the doorway.

"Hey." Addison protested. "I'm paying, not you."

"Addie I can…" The brunette began.

"Nope. I took you on a date. You pay when you take me. Felix, bring me the check." Addison interjected and with a chuckle he went to get it.

After paying and giving Felix a sizable tip after having to deal with Aelwyne's threats they were off. Addison hummed to a song playing on the radio as Aelwyne looked out the window, trying to figure out where they were going. She kept on asking for hints but Addison would not budge.

"Please." She begged again.

"Nope. You'll see when we get there." Addison grinned.

"Fine." Aelwyne said, crossing her arms over her chest and sinking in the seat.

"Stop being so pouty. You'll like it. But I want it to stay a surprise." Addison smiled. "Please."

"Ok. But I get to play with your hair while you drive." Aelwyne conceded.

"Go ahead." Addison chuckled and quickly the brunette had a lock of red hair twirling on her finger.

They made it to a park, with a few trees and wildflowers and a clearing where you could see the Seattle skyline. Addison watched as Aelwyne took in her surroundings and then turned to look at her.

"A hidden treasure?" She beamed.

"A hidden treasure." Addison smiled and tilted her head slightly. "Let me grab the blanket in the trunk."

Addison grabbed the blanket and made her way to Aelwyne who still looked at her with a smile still in place. She chuckled and tilted her head as if asking something.

"What is it, Bug?" Addison asked.

"You found me a hidden treasure." Aelwyne smiled sweetly.

"I did but let's go, it's getting late. We'll miss it." Addison rushed and took her hand.

They made it to a clearing where they found a few other people. The edge of the clearing was pretty much the edge of a mountain. They were a ways up and from there they could see the Seattle skyline. Addison found a bench close to the edge and sat down patting the spot next to her. Once Aelwyne joined her she wrapped the blanket over the both of them. The brunette sighed and leaned into her happily.

"The view is amazing. The sky's so clear and we get to watch the sun go down completely." Aelwyne said excitedly.

"Mhmm. It's a bit cheesy. The whole watching the sunset together but it's so pretty." Addison smiled.

"Not cheesy. It's perfect." Aelwyne said, sinking into her some more. "Look, it's starting to disappear completely now." She pointed towards where the sun was dipping.

Addison watched the receding sun a bit before turning her attention back to Aelwyne. The brunette looked beautiful as soft pinkish light bathed her face. It looked as if her eyes had captured the remnants of sunlight still filling the evening sky.

Addison completely missed the sunset as she was transfixed by the brunette, who after the sun had gone had turned to face her once more. Aelwyne's glimmering eyes found hers and the small smile got wider and brighter.

"It was beautiful. I wish I was a painter so I could capture instances like that. Or like this." Aelwyne said as her eyes dipped to Addison's lips and then back to her eyes.

"I wish I could paint too. I'd probably end up with so many pictures of you." Addison smiled.

She then planted one kiss on her cheek then gently moved her head and planted another. The brunette sighed contently as Addison pulled her head down to plant another kiss on her forehead to which Aelwyne giggled.

"Can I kiss you now?" Aelwyne asked, biting her lip.

"If you'd be so kind." Addison grinned as Aelwyne leaned in.

The brunette kissed her with everything. Her lips searched Addison's and in turn so did hers. When they pulled away Aelwyne's eyes were still closed. Once they fluttered open she gasped.

"Addison." Aelwyne breathed as she took in her surroundings a bit more.

"You like them?" Addison asked.

"Like? Nope. I love them and I love you." Aelwyne replied, her eyes darting from Addison's and back to the fireflies that had now inundated the clearing. "This is…" She began but stopped not quite finding the word.

"Magical? It feels magical. Like the first time I kissed you." Addison smiled brightly.

"This is better. Back then I knew you liked me. I didn't know you loved me. Also back then I thought I could lose you at any moment but now… I'd like to think now we're gonna be together and stay together." Aelwyne beamed.

"Oh Ael. We are and will be together. I want to be with you always. If you'll let me." Addison said, taking one of her hands.

"Let you? I can't not be with you, Addie. You got in here…" She placed her free hand over her chest. "I don't think I can get you out. Besides I don't wanna."

"So I'm stuck there?" She asked with a wide grin.

"Yep and I'm not letting you out." Aelwyne shrugged.

"That's good. Now… are you tired?" Addison arched a brow.

"No. Why? More secret places?" Aelwyne smirked.

"The places I'm thinking about are no longer secret." Addison gave her a mischievous smile.

"Oh. Well I'm up for anything." Aelwyne smirked knowingly.

"Good. Are you ready then?" Addison asked.

"I'm always ready ma'am." Aelwyne replied with a playful grin.

"Good girl." Addison smirked and stood pulling her up.

And then there were 34! Geez I'm so sorry guys. I'm not home and writing on the phone is pretty sucky. I'm on vacays this week. I'm so busy and usually dead tired by the end of the day. Anyway I hope you enjoyed it. Even a little. Thank you for being patient. As always, stay awesome. Until next time ;)
