Chapter 35: Final Encounters

It had been almost a week and every day without fail, Aelwyne would pace the room mumbling to herself about how stupid it was that they had to wait for the results of the exams. Addison lay in bed, her back to the headrest, rolling her eyes at the bundle of nerves her girlfriend had become. After some more pacing the brunette sat at the edge of the bed looking away from her and towards the hallway.

"This loft only has one guest room." Aelwyne said out of nowhere.

"Yes?" Addison tilted her head and waited for the rest of the statement or at least an explanation about where that had come from.

"I know it's a ways away since we decided that it'd be after my residency but we need to start looking at bigger places." Aelwyne mused still looking away from her.

"Bug?" Addison was still confused.

"I'm kinda glad we're both women so I don't have to worry about getting you pregnant just like that." Aelwyne said apparently still off in her own world.

"Aelwyne." Addison chuckled and at that golden eyes found hers. "What in the world has come over you?"

"Nothing. My brain is just complicated." Aelwyne smirked and crawled her way towards her.

"I've noticed. Very complicated and all over the place." Addison chuckled as the brunette leaned in for a kiss.

"You like my all-over-the-place self." Aelwyne said against her lips.

"I don't just like it. I love it." Addison husked back pulling the brunette so that she now straddled her.

"What else do you like about me, doctor?" Aelwyne said as she began planting kisses down her neck.

"I…" Addison began breathily. "I love your eyes." And as she said that Aelwyne backed away for an instant to flash her a grin then went back to tending to her neck.

"And?" Aelwyne asked.

"And I love your hair." She said as she ran her fingers through it.

"And?" She continued.

"And I love that sound you make when I do this." She said as she gently tugged at her hair making her hiss lightly.

"And what else?" Aelwyne grinned wickedly.

"And I love your lips." She continued as she kissed her passionately.

"What more?" Aelwyne asked as they backed away from each other panting.

"And I love when you're quiet and don't ask questions as I'm trying to have my way with you." Addison groaned in between kisses as Aelwyne giggled. "Are you ready to be quiet?" She asked as she touched her forehead to the brunette's.

"How quiet?" Aelwyne asked mischievously.

"No more questions, Bug." Addison growled and pushed her down on the bed straddling her.

"As you wish." Aelwyne's eyes were almost completely black just as she was sure her own were.

"Good girl. Now, where were we?" Addison felt her shiver under her as her hand travelled under her shirt and drew circles on her bare skin. "Ah, I remember."

Aelwyne, Cristina, and Meredith sat at the desk in the lobby waiting for their results to be posted. It was actually a miracle Bailey had not found them yet and sent them to work. George and Izzie were off but they would be coming in to check on the results. Alex had scrubbed into a brain surgery that Meredith had surprisingly passed up on.

Cristina kept on tapping the stack of charts with her pen as they watched the clock tick ever so slowly down to 11 am. It seemed Meredith was getting tired of the tapping and snatched the pen away. Aelwyne just looked at the two as they fought and chuckled a bit when the Chief came by to give them their letters.

"Shouldn't you all be working?" Richard asked and Meredith and Cristina stopped fighting to turn fully to him.

"Scut." All three said together throwing side glances at each other.

"Right. Well, here you go." He said, passing them their envelopes.

"I told you we'd be late if you stopped for coffee." They heard Izzie complaining as George hummed in response. "Chief!" She said excitedly.

"Here you go. Now, to find Karev." Richard said leaving them alone.

"Did you guys open them yet?" George said as he held tightly to his envelope.

"On three?" Meredith asked and they all nodded.

"Ok. One… two… three." Cristina counted down and then there was the noise of ripping paper as they all looked.

Aelwyne felt her heart beating in her throat as she read the letter. A sudden rush of relief and excitement made her stand and laugh. She looked around at all of them waiting for them to read their results.

"We did it?" She asked as everyone looked up. They were all smiles and nodding heads.

"I did it! Hell yeah!" Alex shouted as he made his way to them.

All six interns laughed and cheered together. Aelwyne was well aware that they were making quite the scene but she did not care one bit. At least until Bailey walked up to them and smacked each one of them on the back of the head.

"This is a hospital you fools." She spat as they all looked down. "So?" Bailey asked expectantly and a grin spread all over their faces.

"We passed." Aelwyne chirped happily.

"Damn right you did. You are my students." Bailey puffed her chest proudly.

They all nodded happily and stood there quietly until Bailey shooed them all away. George and Izzie ran too even though they were not working and Aelwyne could hear the little snicker Bailey let out at all of their scurrying. She threw a playful glance at the resident but disappeared quickly before she got whammed on the back of the head again and also because she needed to find Addison.

She was crossing the bridge and could see her attending walking a bit ahead of her. She was about to jog towards her when her phone started to ring.

-Hello?-

-Miss Neirhem, how do you do?-

-Mr. Sullivan, hi. I'm doing great. I passed my intern's exam.-

-How wonderful. Miss, I need to talk to you about something important.-

-It'll need to wait, also remember it's doctor now. Anyway, I have to talk to my girlfriend. Bye Mr. Sullivan-

Aelwyne could still hear the man on the line telling her to wait but she did not care. She wanted to share the excitement with the most important person ever.

She skipped her way towards the tall redhead and crashed into her, wrapping her arms around her middle. Addison yelped at the action and then began to chuckle.

"Guess what?" Aelwyne kissed her cheek.

"You found me a unicorn to bring me to and from work?" Addison asked.

"No." Aelwyne giggled.

"Hmm, Karev stopped calling you sweetness?" Addison spun in her arms.

"No." Aelwyne rolled her eyes with some more giggles.

"You are letting me get a cat?" Addison smiled.

"You've never said you wanted a cat." Aelwyne frowned.

"Can we have a cat?" Addison pouted.

"Addie." Aelwyne whined.

"Fine. What is it?" Addison smiled.

"I did it. I passed!" Aelwyne cheered and kissed her.

"I'm so proud of you." Addison said as she pulled away grinning wide.

The sparkles dancing in her eyes completely captivating Aelwyne. Addison was so happy and she was so happy. They just smiled at each other as they held each other forgetting for a moment where they were.

"Stooped low there, whore."

The moment that was said she felt her stiffening completely. Addison watched as the color drained from the intern's face and pretty soon she was a shaking mess. Addison looked behind Aelwyne and saw him. But that could not be possible. He should be in jail, not here. He should be gone. He was banned from the hospital and there was a restriction order besides that he had been arrested.

"Cat's got your tongue there Aely." Ethan asked, letting out a sinister laugh.

"You're not supposed to be here, Bridges." Addison said keeping her voice as even as possible.

"You know how it is, my good doctor. Technicalities." He shrugged.

"Addie." Her voice was just above a whisper and it was so vulnerable so tiny.

"It's ok." Addison said, still holding onto her.

"Is it?" Ethan asked, cocking his head to the side with a smile and waving his hand.

In that moment she froze because he was not just waving his hand. Ethan was waving a gun about. People all around erupted in screams and started running but Addison knew if they ran they would not survive so she stood her ground. No sudden movements. She just looked at him with a shaking Aelwyne who had absolutely no idea what was going on behind her and why people were running around and screaming.

"Mr. Bridges, please. This is a hospital. You don't want to do that." Addison began trying to de-escalate the situation as much as she could.

"You don't know what I want." His smile disappeared as he spoke.

"Ok, why don't you tell me?" Addison asked. She had to keep him talking, keep him distracted for as long as possible.

"I want her and she knows it. Right, Aely?" Ethan responded.

"Why do you want her? Why not someone else?" Addison continued.

"Because she's mine." Ethan shrugged. "Didn't she tell you?"

"Tell me what?" Addison asked.

"Didn't she tell you that she's only been mine? I took her." He boasted. "I was the one to make her a woman. I was the one to hear her moan for the first time. The one to claim all of her, that was me."

"I don't think you having sex with her means she belongs to you. Is that a rule?" Addison tried to keep him talking as she saw Mark and Alex approaching with the security guards from the hospital at the end of the bridge's entrance slowly getting the few people that remained out.

"It's my rule. I made her my bitch so she belongs to me." Ethan's eyes narrowed on Aelwyne. "Aely, why don't you come here?" Aelwyne shook her head. "Come on, Aely. You know I love you. I'm forgiving. I can forget this lapse in judgement. Just come here." When Aelwyne did not move he frowned. "I told you to come here!"

Ethan took a step towards them and Addison took a step back pulling Aelwyne with her. At that Ethan raised the gun pointing at them. He took another step and again so did Addison. Ethan tilted his head allowing that sinister laugh to echo around them. Aelwyne began to shift then, trying to turn around to look at him.

"Stay still." Addison whispered was almost inaudible but she could tell Aelwyne caught it as she stopped moving.

"Aely, I don't like repeating myself. Come here. We need to go home. You want to listen to me." He said growing violent.

Addison looked past him as Mark, Alex, and the guards quietly made their way towards them. She was so focused on them that she did not register Ethan had inched close enough to grab Aelwyne's hair and pull. The intern let go of her and yelped as she was pulled away by her hair.

"Aelwyne!" Addison yelled.

"There we go, Aely. You get to come with me." He said as he dragged her to him and wrapped his free arm around her throat.

Addison could do nothing more than watch as he brought the gun to her temple. She felt like her world was ending and she had no idea how to save it. Mark, Alex, and the guards were almost there, still moving slowly because one wrong move and that would result in Aelwyne's death.

"Please. Don't hurt her." Addison pleaded, tears in her eyes.

"I don't want to but there are some lessons that need to be taught. Right, Aely?" Ethan shrugged as Aelwyne began to breathe quicker and quicker.

"Ethan. We'll give you anything you want. Anything. Just please, don't hurt her." Addison begged once more.

"You have nice friends, Aely. What would you do to keep her safe?" Ethan said as he pointed at Addison. Aelwyne shook her head, tears streaming down her face. "What would happen if I pulled the trigger now?" He asked.

"P-please." Aelwyne's broken voice came out. "Not her. Please, Ethan. I'll go with you. Please."

"Are you in love with her?" Ethan seemed to tighten his grasp and Aelwyne's hands shot up to try and pull his arm away from her throat. He stopped pointing at Addison and went back to the intern's temple.

"Please. Let her go." Addison was kneeling now. She could not lose her. Aelwyne had to be ok. She would give everything just to keep her safe. "Please."

Ethan went back to pointing at her and pulled the hammer of the gun. The moment Aelwyne heard it she began trashing around trying to free herself from his grasp.

"Ethan, please. I'll go with you. I'll go. Please." Aelwyne sobbed.

Addison could see the pointer finger moving to the trigger and looked at Aelwyne, trying to calm her. Aelwyne just looked at her for a few seconds and she could see more fear and horror swirling in her golden eyes than she had ever seen before. The intern kept on fighting but even with all her trashing and all her pleading the finger was still there, ready to pull the trigger.

"I love you." Addison smiled through her tears and closed her eyes.

"No. No. Please! Don't! Ethan! No! PLEASE!"

And then there were 35! T-T sorry. I love you all. As I've said before this story is reaching its end, which means next week's chapter is the last chapter. Thank you for sticking with me. You guys are awesome. Please do stay awesome. Until next time. ;)
