- I'm Detective Goren!
Benson shook the hand of the new detective, who had been sent to assist the special unit.
She looked at him as if forbidden.
How could this be possible...
It couldn't be...
She was struck by the resemblance this giant had with Alex's daughter.
Her curls, her brown eyes.
My God...
Except for the golden color of the little girl's hair, everything was the portrait of this man!
Could it be that...
No, it couldn't be!
He would have had to work with Eames, and even then...
Alexandra didn't seem to be the kind of woman to give in easily to a man's advances, even if he was attractive!
The evening she had a drink after work, Eames had reframed more than one.
She told them that her priority was her daughter, and that she didn't have time for her nonsense.
Alex had admitted to him that she did not want a replacement for the father of her daughter.
That he was the only one who meant anything to her...even if they had no contact.
Benson wanted to know.
How could this man look so much like Eames' daughter.
It made him itch to ask certain questions.
Tutuola had told her some things about Robert Goren, and she was starting to make a connection.
- Detective Robert Goren...He worked in homicide. And suddenly he's gone without a word of explanation!
Benson found this very strange.
Why would he leave without any explanation, especially when he was said to be one of the best detectives in the unit.
She remembered the words Alexandra Eames had told her.
That her partner had left Homicide, and that she had decided to change units from that moment on.
Too much of a coincidence for her taste.
- Is it really you who had been the partner in homicide of Lieutenant Alexandra Eames!
At her words, Goren felt his heart stop.
Alex...
My God...
Not for one day did he think about her.
He missed her so much.
Goren's face turned white, so white.
Benson knew she had touched a nerve.
He was indeed Eames' old partner. The one who had left without explanation.
But why had he left...
Francès' face appeared before his eyes.
This little girl was indeed his daughter!
She could not have any doubt about it.
The resemblance was too striking.
- Did you know, that Eames has a daughter...
Goren was stabbed in the heart.
His heart broke into a thousand pieces.
His Alex…
Her little Alex...
So he had made his life, and she was a mother.
He couldn't feel his legs anymore.
Knowing this came as a shock to him.
He wobbled, collapsing.
Fin and Olivia rushed to his side, catching him just before he hit the ground.
- What could you have done to him to get him in such a state, Olivia?
It was a reproach.
Tutuola gave him an accusing look.
He knew his superior well, and if she had done that, she must have known something.
But she tended to never weigh her words, and she could hurt people without meaning to.
At the sad, pale face of Goren, Benson regretted what she had just said!
She had hurt him deeply.
She had been too hard on him!
Plus, he didn't seem to know about his daughter.
- Alex and I were partners in crime! He lowered his head, looking down at his hands, which he clenched nervously. I didn't know she had a life!
So that was it, he thought she had replaced him, that she had started a little family.
But not at all!
She was still waiting for Goren to return.
She devoted her life to her daughter, missing him, the father of her daughter!
Maybe he didn't know about it…
She remembered Alexandra's sadness when she talked about the departure of her daughter's father!
And of that silver ring he had given her, which she kept preciously against her heart.
- Go get her a glass of water, Fin!
She helped him sit down.
Benson had to do something for these two!
Olivia remembered hurting Alex's feelings unintentionally with her words when she told her they weren't married!
But now she knew they were more than just partners.
A strong bond united them.
And there was their little girl!
But there was still the question of that promise running through her head.
What was she?
And why hadn't he tried to see Alexandra after so many years!
She sat down at her desk, put her elbows on it, putting her head on her hands.
- Alexandra made a promise to me...
Goren raised his head, looking at her with shifty eyes.
Alex had told him about their promise...
It couldn't be possible.
He knew her, and she was the only one he trusted blindly.
What would happen if he and Eames were found to have slept together.
And why he had left Homicide.
Eames would have his career ruined for life.
And that he couldn't face.
She was a lieutenant now, and so he couldn't ruin her chances again.
Alex deserved to have a good life, and not drag a ball and chain like him around for the rest of her life.
He had hurt her too much.
Fin handed him a glass of water, which he took in his trembling hands.
- Don't pick on him too much...Will you.
He put his hand on Goren's shoulder.
Fin knew how Olivia could be.
When she had an idea in the back of her mind, or decided to harass someone just to get answers to her questions.
She never let go of the person until she got what she wanted to know!
Tutuola left the office, leaving them alone.
- Why can't she contact the father of her child...
Her brown eyes looked at him intensely, trying to read him like an open book. It was very embarrassing...
- All this for a promise!
The glass fell from Bobby's hands, shattering on the floor.
Had he heard correctly...
Eames' daughter...Could be his daughter...
He had to know for sure.
He leapt to his feet and rushed out of the office without even a glance for Benson.
Olivia smiled!
So the promise...
That famous promise.
It was between Eames and Goren.
Could it be...
But no...
There was no point in trying to find out.
It would never be.
Her two had many secrets.
But one that was no longer a secret.
That of the Eames' daughter.
- What have you done now! Her words were reproachful. Why did he run away?
Benson looked at Fin with a strange smile.
- He has an appointment with his destiny!
Tutuola didn't understand his gibberish, as usual!
