Chapter 18
Teal'c was at last ready. Finally he felt as though he was considered trustworthy by the other Jaffa. He had been tasked with training some of the young Jaffa flying the aged Tel'taks
He had secured the location of his team members. Surreptitiously he packed away some provisions. And he had managed a little sabotage for safety's sake, something he had picked up from Aris Boch.
When two of his most ardent admirers realized he was about to take his leave they saw their chance to escape this backwater.
"Master Obi Wan, please take us with you." begged the two young Jaffa who were desperate for a life of adventure.
Teal'c took them for a training mission and then announced to them "I am here on a secret mission from Lord Ra, your god. He has sent me to gather up these humans and take them to him unharmed. He has tested your lord Sop'du, vassal of the god Ra and will find him pleasing in his sight. And I am to tell no one. I should slay you on the spot."
The young Jaffa bowed before Teal'c.
"You will become great warriors so I will spare you."
The young Jaffa felt fear recede.
"You will tell of this to no one." Teal'c commanded.
"As you will, my lord."
Teal'c hovered the Tel'tak many miles from the Jaffa base and let the young warriors out. When landing the craft in the past weeks it seemed as though it would shake apart. He opened the hatch and said "Now take your leave. Make your way back to your lord and know that in your service to me and by your silence you have served the great god Ra." Teal'c was sure they would tell their friends everything.
Teal'c closed the hatch and left the young warriors on the hillside. He hated not recruiting them into his rebellion but this was more expedient.
Teal'c next stop was close to the village where the rest of SG-1 had been sent. Ingratiating himself with Sop'du's Jaffa and learning of his friend's location has taken him almost a month's time. He hoped he would find them still there.
Jack feared it would be another day of boredom and anxiety when he spotted the Tel'tak. Nope, turned into a day of abject fear and anxiety. Before he could think about running, the hovering craft slid open its hatch and Teal'c looked out and called "O'Neill, it is I, Master Obi Wan."
The entire village stopped in its tracks to stare at the ship they had never seen before.
Jack put his head into his hut and said "Come on Carter, we're going home." And toward the Tel'tak he shouted "Yes Master" in the most obsequious tone he could manage without laughing.
Daniel came running and hopped aboard and with Jack they helped Sam climb aboard. Then they each reached out a hand to Jack and hoisted him on board.
Teal'c closed the hatch, took the helm and the Tel'tak lifted off.
"Teal'c aren't you afraid that any of the ships or that Alkesh will catch us?" Daniel asked afraid to hope they were truly safe and on their way home
"I fear they are greatly in need of repair."
Teal'c looked at his friends, lifted his chin and gave a hint of a smile. He plotted a course for the nearest planet with a Stargate and home.
The End
